Joey Now that you show me how easy it is to use my instant pot I have made potatoes , rice and beans and know I am getting brave to try this Mexican beans recipe THANK YOU SO MUCH JOEY for helping me be brave with the instant pot my husband is so happy I am finally using my instant pot
These were by far the best pinto beans I have made in the Instant Pot. I added a bunch of cilantro to it (not chopped, just out of the package with stems and all). The only thing is that this took WAY longer than 35 minutes to cook. I did 45 minutes first (plus an hour to naturally release) and they were hard. So I did another 45 minutes (plus another hour and 15 minutes to naturally release). Took over 3.5 hours to cook, but it was still totally worth it. Next time, I'll either pre-soak them or put them on for 90 minutes. Delicious!!
Had the ingredients so I whipped these up for a cookout this afternoon. Delicious with my grilled mushroom (sorry, Joey) and omnivore approved (even by one who never likes what I cook . . . unless it's cake!).
These Ranch Beans just moved to the #1 Bean recipe in my Kitchen💞💞 Amazing super easy quick delicious Beans. Great to have in the Fridge during the week, along with a batch of Rice. A quick lunch or meal with a side of veggies of choice… And your right, that broth/sauce is awesome over rice or I’ve thickened the broth and put on Pasta…
After natural release beans weren't quite done for me at 35min cooking time. Put the lid back on and added 10min cooking time, again used natural release and after finishing they were perfect. Could have been my beans, who knows. So if you're beans are not done because they are older or dryer or what not, never fear, just re-lid and cook longer. Love this recipe.
I use my elektrischer Schellkochtopf (it is an Instant Pot knock off) mostly for prepping potatoes and rice and the odd batch of tapioca pudding for breakfasts My bean consumption has mostly been from cans (I know it is more expensive) because my partner doesn't like too many beans unless I disguise them by blending them in as thickener to sauces
Joey what a great idea to use your Insta pot for these vegan ranch style beans. You know I like spice so I might just add two jalapeños in there. Love all the dried spices you added for flavor. Pairing it with some steamed white rice and pouring the gravy over top would just be perfect
I love that you got to see this video before it goes live on Monday. I always wonder if the early access people actually watch the videos early. I am very excited that you commented on this video before the Monday release date. Woo Hoo! -Joey
Joeyyyyy nice to see you. Lol I just had a chickpea vegetable omelette loaded with mainly mushrooms. Great recipe. Tim also has been doing great. Love your channel.
Hi Joey, when I used my instant pot to make beans in the past the beans weren’t very soft the way I like them. I was told it was because I added the tomato/tomato paste in when I should’ve waited to add in the end - do these ones come out soft like stove top cooking or do they still have a tougher bite to them? This recipe sounds n looks amazing n I can’t wait to try it but will wait to hear back from you 😊
Keep making IP recipes. The IP helps me stay on track. I don't like cooking at all so I use mine alot. How would you adjust this recipe to soaked beans?
Thank you so much for sharing this recipe. I only use my instapot to make rice. I don't understand the cooking times. Crazy, right? If love to see more instapot recipes. I'm definitely going to try this one. ☺
Kim, I did a video a few weeks ago where I did Sunday night weekly meal prep and I made I think 3 meals in the Instant Pot one after the other. Check that one out. I also have a whole Instant Pot playlist in the playlist area. Dont fear the IP, embrace it! It does all the work. l love it so much. -Joey
These beans are great. Thank you so much for making this recipe. So, have you tried the black bean tamales from Trader Joe’s? I would love a copycat recipe for the bean filling if you’d be interested in trying it. Love your videos and please keep up the good work!
David, when Tim was wiling to let me film a video for him, I asked him to do two back to back so I could get a few weeks ahead. It's been tough to get videos filmed while working full time teaching. So that worked out nicely. I think he is finally comfortable enough to start doing more videos. It's been a long road for him to get to that point.
@@PlantBasedDads I enjoy seeing either Tim or Joe in the video's and it's good that Tim can fill in for Joe. Both of you have different ways of presenting which is good.
Looks so yummy❤️. So with the starch solution do you not always have to have veggies with your 50/50 plate? Just want to make sure I don’t have to add any!!
Great stuff. I had a question regarding the 50/50 plate. I noticed that you did the shared the meal on the plate with beans on one side and rice on the other. Does that still qualify as a 50/50 plate in the starch solution since neither the beans or rice are veggies?
Hi Lincoln. The Starch Solution lets you have as much as 75-90 percent starch on one side of your place. The 50/50 Plate is part of the Maximum Weight Loss program, which is a little bit different. I would need to have some non-starchy veggies in this plate for SS, but for the video I just paired it with rice because I love having those together. But yes, you are right, you would need something non starch with it for SS. Thanks so much for watching.
I love your recipes...but...why don't you use brown rice? It's more nutritious. If you don't like it as well as white rice, I suggest adding a little brown rice to your white rice and then gradually increasing the brown rice over time. It worked for me! Now I prefer brown rice to white rice, and other whole grains as well. Your body will thank you.
Hi Debbie. Yes you are right as far as nutrition goes, white rice is more nutritious. But, The Starch Solution treats all rice as starch, including white rice. In that book, they don't get into choosing one over the other so for this way of eating, either is fine. But, yes, I agree, brown is more of a whole food. I do use brown in other videos. Check out my SS fried rice video. But I still loves me some white rice too. Thanks so much for watching so many videos recently.
I AM SO THANKFUL and grateful I found your YOU TUBE CHANNEL Joey and Tim and lexx to start My Way of healthy living

Made it today. This recipe was really good and simple too. Like you said, it's easy to throw together. Thanks Joey.

Another great video 👏🏼 thanks Joey!
lol, I don't like mushrooms either but those beans looks yummy

Looks so yummy❤️. So with the starch solution do you not always have to have veggies with your 50/50 plate? Just want to make sure I don’t have to add any!!
For Starch Solution, you can do up to 90 percent starch. I would probably throw some broccoli on top of this for a SS meal.
Would you be also eating veggies with the rice and beans meal for the challenge?
Yes, for sure. I would do some non starchy veggie, maybe cauliflower rice.
My fav pinto bean recipe ever❤
Actually mine too considering you don't have to cut any actual veggies up, right? Like, it cant get any easier.
Great stuff. I had a question regarding the 50/50 plate. I noticed that you did the shared the meal on the plate with beans on one side and rice on the other. Does that still qualify as a 50/50 plate in the starch solution since neither the beans or rice are veggies?

Are pinto beans classed as starch or non starchy? X
They are a starch. Thanks so much for watching.
If you double the recipe would you double the time??
No. Double everything except for the time
