When I’ve cooked pinto beans I’ve always added a smoked ham hock. It gives a WONDERFUL flavor and after everything is cooked, I remove the ham hock, let it cool down, pick off the meat and add the meat back into the beans. 🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸

I have to tell you how proud I am of you for returning the jewelry. I'm sure the jewelry is wonderful but it gives me Faith in mankind again to see that people are realizing there's something going on in the world that we need to attend to and make our decisions based off of, instead of just burying our heads and living our life as usual. These are not usual times. There is so much human suffering going on right now and I believe that we can all sacrifice something or some of our time towards helping those who are suffering rather than increasing our own lives!
I Bless you for this! 💕🙏

Hello Leslie! Greetings from Cedar Rapids, Iowa! With being on Keto I really miss eating beans. I grew up eating all kinds of beans as a child growing up in Southern Illinois. My Mom and Dad had over an acre of garden. They grew just about every kind of bean. My favorite beans are the pinto beans cooked with onions and ham. Before going on Keto I cooked beans in my Instant Pot. I would always cook them for 50 minutes. They always came out so good. I would add Ham broth, pepper, a little salt, a little bit of real butter,, onions and chopped up ham. One of these days when I have lost all of my weight we will have beans again once in awhile. I also enjoyed making Mac and cheese in my Instant pot. It takes a lot less time to cook the noodles. Half of the time listed on the box. Of course I can’t have that either right now. But I can still do cauliflower Mac and cheese. So I do that occasionally. John and I are still recovering from Covid. But we feel so much better and are thankful for the meds the doctor gave us for it. The metal taste in my mouth from those meds has been horrible. So I am ready to be done with those. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for your wonderful video. God bless you my friend! Have a great rest of your week. I look forward to the next video.

I don’t know if you’ve tried it before, but since you like them thick, I was always taught to take a half a cup or so out toward the end of cooking and mash them up and add back in. 😊

Boston Butt in the Crock pot... I put a dry rub on my BB and refrigerate over night. I put a bed of sliced onions and lemons (sometimes oranges) in the bottom, put the BB on top and cook on low for 10 hours or so. No need to add any liquid.
    It is so yummy!

I love the thick juice on the pintos. I rinse mine but don't soak or parboil them. I also put smoked hog joules in to season. I haven't cooked them in the instant pot yet. Still learning it. If you have left over beans take a few spoonfuls drain some of the liquid off. Mash with a fork and stir in some Dukes mayo. Spread on sandwich bread. Yummy.
Also heavily coat the pork roast with Tony's Creole seasoning. So good

It's amazing that you & I have have some similarities. We are created in his image. Praise Him. 🙏 Love, honor & adore him.
Family, sure does seem like it when I so enjoy following, connecting & the joy I receive. Amazing how God sent me a hug from a stranger wanting Peaches & all that took place. ❤️ And each video of TFPW, I watch leaves me with enjoyment. You are special to me & I thank God. I once was given good advice. Takes time, talent & tithing for things to work it's space in time. You'll get to the cookbook in his timing. Don't fret. You have taken on much since I've been a subscriber. I go back & watch older videos & see the progression of. 👍 You've definitely become more comfortable & confident; yet you are real & sweet. Prayers Leslie, I like your yt cooking vlogs & that's like a book for me. I tend to go to my phone rather than a cookbook on my shelf, yet I have my solid books too for reference. I would likely get your cb bc of the love & care in my heart for you & your family. I put together a CB for a person once. I have a copy. I will have to send you pics to give you a different idea. BC the way they put it together for their mom was cute. I'm gonna message you. Lots of love & blessings 🌻😘 greeting you with a holy kiss - scripture. ❤️🙏🎶 praise the Lord in all we do. (try)

Love that top, glad you decided to keep it. You could take out a couple of cups and blend them with an immersion blender then add back to the big pot for a creamier broth. That's what I do sometimes. I wouldn't bother with a pitcher style bllender, but stick blenders are so easy to clean ;)

We were raised on cornbread and beans and we still enjoy eating them. I have an instant pot I’ve never used, so don’t feel bad. I understand fully about the jewelry. I find myself laying things back that I can do without. People don’t realize what it takes to run a farm. When we do taxes ever year, I can’t believe what we have spent on diesel, feed, parts, etc. I don’t understand a lot of things as to how our country is going right now.

Pinto beans! It was a staple in our house growing up in WV. My dad was a coal miner so we called them miner beans..lol. Came in handy feeding 7 people, served with cornbread and fried potatoes. I still cook them even though I live in Georgia now. BTW I noticed that you kept the two tops you wanted in your clothing video. Good choice.

    Hi Leslie
Cook beans in instant pot always. Do not add to much water because it doesn’t evaporate like on stove.
It takes about an hour and the broth will not be thick. To get the broth thick cook on sauté a little while.
    So very good.

I also cook my white beans 45 minutes and saute them until thicken. I also put country ham in mine and cook a pan of cornbread to go with them. Just make chicken and rice this past weekend in mine. Leslie, you should try adding just a sprinkle of cinnamon to your pork roast. It adds that warmth of a hug, it is delicious. No one will be able to guess what it is, but it just works. My husband thought I was looney the first time I did it, but I told him to trust me, and he LOVES it. For measurements, on a roast that size, I would just put maybe 1/2 tsp to just shy of 1 tsp. Honestly though, I don't measure, I just sprinkle it lightly on the roast on all sides.

I have two more favorite instant pot recipes to suggest, then I promise I will stop sending you comments 😂
Porcupine meatballs, I found the recipe on channel "3G Cooking" instant pot porcupine meatballs.
Only problem I have is they are sooo good that I never get around to serving over rice or noodles. I just reheat them in sauce and eat them. ** I make them with ground chicken instead of the beef **
Salsa chicken : add frozen or thawed chicken breast into pot. Sprinkle taco seasoning over each piece of chicken. Spoon over salsa (any heat level you like). If you have extra salsa just add to pot. Lastly add 1 cup chicken broth to pot.
Cook frozen for 20-25 minutes, thawed chicken for 15-20 minutes.
    Quick release
You can eat as is with sauce in pot OR shred chicken and stir back into juice in pot and use for taco or burritos. I've even made this shredded chicken then used in my taco soup recipe.
    As always, enjoy 💞

Hi Leslie, I noticed you didn't clean off the floaters in your beans once you got them in the water. My grandmother had always told me those beans will take longer than the others and will be tough. Do you think grandmother was right? I don't know. I've just always done it. lol Judah was precious waving at us in the video. You are blessed to be able to keep your grandson. I know it wears you out sometimes but all mine are grown up now and I barely get to see them. High school, college, marriage and life will take their time faster than you know. I would love to have one of Lori's cookbooks! But we are on a fixed income and I get to see her on youtube cooking so I figure that is my prize. At least I can get my internet. That way I can watch a lot of different cooking channels. God bless, stay safe, stay well.

Something that the old time cooks from Nova Scotia would add to those beans is molasses...the beans cook in it and turn a really dark brown and the flavour is delicious! Usually they are enjoyed with a side of fresh homemade bread and green tomato chow.

Try adding cumin to your pork roast! It's a game changer! Even if you are adding gravy to it, the cumin just adds a special flavor that I think pork needs. And then I add diced green chilis to it at the end for pork tacos or nachos

Want to add - easy peasy instant pot recipes - RICE = 1 cup rice to 1 1/2 c water - 10 minutes. PASTA - 4 cups water to 1lb pasta (short type - macaroni, penne, rotini) - you may need more water for longer pasta (spaghetti/fettucini etc and you'll want to break in half) - make sure longer covered in water. Most pasta cooks in 7 minutes - if package says 10 min or more cook for time on package. SPAGHETTI WITH MEATBALLS - put frozen meatballs on bottom, then 1lb pasta (I prefer short - not as much water needed), add water to cover pasta - hopefully just 4 cups but may need a little more. Then add 1 can or bottle of spaghetti sauce on top of all (do not mix you will get burn notice). Add any seasonings you want, cook on high pressure for 7 minutes with short pasta/longer with long pasta. Stir when done. If you added too much water you can drain some or have people use tongs to release some water or just call it spaghetti soup. MASHED POTATOES/POTATO SALAD - Cut potatoes up in med-small pieces - no need to peel unless you want. Add 1 cup water and cook 5 minutes. For Mashed add items as usual - butter, salt, milk/cream. For potato salad remove from instant pot - drain - chill and then add your favorite potato salad dressing and other items. EASY VEGETABLE DINNER - Cut up vegetables you want or need to use up in med size (potatoes, onions, peppers, cauliflower, brocolli etc). Add any spices. Put potatoes on bottom - add 1 cup water and cook for 4 minutes. You can eat as is or add whatever you want - meat/BBQ sauce/Pesto/cheese/Spaghetti Sauce etc. My favorite - add 1 can tomato soup/1 can coconut milk (get thicker if you can) and some of your favorite curry sauce. No curry sauce - add curry powder. I hope these help. The Instant Pot is such a life saver for me

It seems like the darker beans must’ve been older, like you said. If some weren’t covered by the water, the Instant Pot isn’t going to decide to cook every bean except the dark ones. For some reason, if it’s just the dark ones, that tells me something was different about them specifically. I hope that makes sense and I explained the direction of my thinking. Overall, you do seem happy about the end result, yes? They look so delicious and I think anything made with salt pork and bacon grease is going to be wonderful. Yummy!!

Your saute button has 3 levels. You can alternate from low, med or high heat.

I wish my body and I liked beans. I know they're good for you. I used to just love the smell of beans and ham hocks cooking.

Leslie, did you know you could take your potato masher ,and mash the beans just a little and that makes the juice thicker.
