- Hello everyone! It's been a while!
I'm sorry that I haven't been posting as much, but hopefully this makes up for lost time :)
Josh and I have been buds for quite some time now, as we met virtually through Instagram in 2014. At that time we were both posting short 15 second clips of music covers and at that time not alot of other people were doing this. I'm so glad that we were able to connect and grow a friendship in real life! He is such a gifted musician, and I am truly so honored to create alongside him.
The biggest reason we chose this song is mainly because any time I have done a poll online or asked my followers to send me a song request, he has never sent me any other song than "Stardust".
This song is so hauntingly beautiful, and when he said that he was coming through Nashville recently I knew this was the song we needed to do!
*ALSO* This song is available on all streaming platforms for everyone to hear! You can purchase it on Apple music and Amazon music as well.

Why is this singer not huge????? Ridiculously amazing timbre, control, intonation the whole nine yards. Wow, Wow!
I was thinking the same thing, glad I clicked on the video
because nobody cares for such talent - it's all BS pop and hip hop about how big is your ass, how much plastic surgery you had, and what bling you own
Your story brought a little tear to my eye also. Thanks for sharing.
Genetics?
Agreed!!
Oh Alison... You casually sing one of the hardest songs ever written as casually as someone sings "Happy Birthday" at a child's birthday party & do it flawlessly!
"Bravo" just doesn't seem sufficient...
Try "Brava" instead....she's a female. "Bravo" is not sufficient, as you said.
@@timmellin2815 😁😅😂🤣
Brava is the feminine in Italian. Like many words that come directly from one language to another, it tends to be acceptable to use the original--Brava! for applauding a woman, Bravo for applauding a man--or to use an Anglican adaptation which, in this case, is probably to use Bravo! for either gender.
@@timmellin2815Both the guitarist and the singer deserve recognition, in which case neither "brava" or "bravo" is correct, but rather "bravi".....if you insist on being an Italian grammar nazi! 😂 Do you find that people tend to avoid you at parties by any chance? 🥱
Josh is such an outstanding guitarist. And Allison's interpretation is simply flawless.
In 1950, a poll of songwriters voted "Stardust" as the #1 song of the first half of the twentieth century. Certainly an arbitrary choice, with apologies to Louis Armstrong, George Gershwin, Harold Arlen and many others... BUT.... when you hear this cover by Allison and Josh, you understand what they were thinking back in 1950.
I think it's the song they all wish they had written. I sure wish I had what it takes to write something that clever for Allison's voice.
Most requested song of the entire 20th century.
I love watching young people performing old but beautiful songs.A gifted guitarist and a talented singer performing together and creating an exceptional performance😀
I'm 75, and this is the best version of STARDUST l've ever heard !!! 😂 l'm glad the younger generation can keep the "oldies" alive. It's absolutely beautiful. ❤
Yes , a very good version , BUT for me Nat King Cole was the one and Peter Nero's piano got me to learn to play piano 22 years ago.
I'm the same age and agree completely. My wonderful mother and father would be up dancing and loving this rendition. Just perfect in every way.
It's so depressing that all these old people have to express how old they are. I guess this is Lawrence Welk. I hated that stuff when I was ten and now I'm, well, you know.
I agree. This is the most beautiful version I've ever heard. I'm 68. The combination of these two is pure musical magic.
The beauty of the internet is it gives these young folks a place to find these gems and put their own fabulous versions out there for the rest of us.
Humanity is saved as long as we have musicians like these.
This just brought me back to 1956 and dancing with my girlfriend at the VFW. We were 12 years old and her Dad ( my future father-in-law ) was post Commander. All of the World War II GI's used to tease us and I did not care, I was crazy about her . It brings a little tear to my eye. Thank you Alison
That's awesome! Thank you for sharing that!
Such a great story
Her voice is like that of an angel
Wonderful story. Thanks
I was born in 1944 as well, but took me a five or six more years to become aware of this song. Great story. I'm guessing you find a lot to like on Allison Young's channel.
@@stephenprater6718
I do like Allison a lot, but truth be told I'm a real classic rock kind of guy for the most part . Take care my friend .
Josh is really an incredible guitarist
Fact
Yes, true ~ but her voice OMG ! ❤️

The man has a way with every type of musical expression I’ve seen him attempt. The envy exists, but the enjoyment far outweighs it.
I can only agree with the comments about this young ladies singing. However, I am a fan of Hoagy Carmichael. I am old enough to remember Hoagy Carmichael singing his songs on the radio and appearing on TV. He was once acted in a western TV series called Laramie in which he occasionally sang. I have always loved his music. Most of the lyrics to his music was the work of lyricists such as Johnny Mercer. Just look up the list of his songs. He wrote The American Song Book and was truly one of the great composers of the 20th Century.
Yokahaama mama
One of the loveliest renditions of one of the most beautiful songs of all time. Thanks, Allison and Josh!
completely agree 110%, simply beautiful !
Good. But best version for me was Nat King Cole.
Love it. Allison would be a nice Christmas present to get a Christmas Classics collection from you two. Let’s make it happen. Thumbs up if you agree.
Be sure to check out Rebecca Kilgore’s Christmas album.
Paul, good idea. I totally agree!

This is music is from a gone-by era...and I love it. I consider Nat King Cole to be one of the greatest singers ever, delivering his music with incredible style and sensitivity. Now, it's Allison and Josh's turn in the spotlight.
I’d buy it!
Allison NEVER misses a note. She sings like an angel and a cute, red-headed one at that. And Josh is just his super-talented self as always.
Every time I see the Allison + Josh combo, I click instantly. And then hit play again. And then again. And again. No regrets.
Endless loop time! They never get old!
So good together
Same here!
I will from now on …..
I know we're in for a treat whenever these two get together for a song. I really hope to see them live. Such classic sounding, seasoned voices.
This gal is extremely talented. She makes Hoagy Carmichael's great lyrics come alive.
Music by Hoagy Carmichael, lyrics by Mitchell Parish.
Stunning rendition! And so glad that you included the verse too! It makes the first chorus so impactful when it finally arrives 😀😌
Can never figure out why most singers skip the first half of the song, it is the perfect intro.
Those intros were a part of the standard formula of the day. Many songs omit them. A couple of Christmas songs come to mind that performances often omit them, "White Christmas", and "Santa Claus is Coming to Town."
My mother was a pianist, and had all of that old sheet music from that era that includes all of those seldom heard sections. Cool stuff.
@@jeffgaumond4250 because they're not in the real book lol
Wow. I don't think I was quite expecting that. So good!
BirdYoumans,
" ... I don't think I was quite expecting that. ..."
I know what you mean.
I WAS expecting something special, because that is what I get whenever I watch a new video by either Josh or Allison. That is especially true when they work together, but that was even more special than I had been expecting. "So good!"
In fact, I was in no hurry to listen to this recording when it first showed up in my subscriptions list because this song has never been one of my favorites, going back to when I used to listen to Glenn Miller's instrumental version on my father's 78 rpm records. I mostly remember Nat King Cole's vocal version from a time when other styles of music seemed more interesting to me. Now Allison and Josh have changed my feelings about this song forever. They are both amazing. I guess by now I should have been expecting that. My bad.
@@ArcoZakus Same here . . .
My band mate Dave and I can't get over this song. We're old you know. We see Josh Turner and are like, who the hell is this kid?! Allison Young, who the hell are you, with that voice?! Dammit! We're touched.
Next time you see your parents, give them my compliments.
This was just lovely. You not only have a beautiful voice but you also know exactly how to use it to do full justice to this gorgeous song. And props to Josh too; lovely playing, and unlike so many competent and more-than-competent guitarists you know how to accompany, providing a backing that flows and complements the singer without ever competing with or upstaging her. It always surprises me how many people don't seem able to do that.
Wow. Couldn't agree more about importance of skilled accompaniment. Sadly so many UA-camrs today performing the old songs use them to show off technique learned, resulting in such a florid, twee mess that all original emotion in the song is obscured.
Well said😊😊😊
Allison, Josh & Hoagy: a wonderful collaboration across time.
Agree
And a wonderful comment.
But let us not forget that without the lyrics provided by Mitchell Parish, there would be no words for Allison to sing...
Allison, Josh! I can’t thank you enough for doing this tune, one of so many of The Great American Songbook! I encourage you to do many more! Allison, you are a true and lovely songbird. Josh, you are such an accomplished guitarist that deftly navigates the wondrous musical nuances of these golden standards. Looking forward to many more from you two!
That was quite incredible. As opposed to bell-tone clarity, you have a breathy quality in your voice. It matches the song quite well. That quality is also quite alluring.
My reaction to what I heard? It reminds me of a story I heard or read about Johnny Mathis. I don't know its factual basis. That doesn't matter--you'll get the point, anyway.
Supposedly, Johnny went in to his first recording, or at least major rehearsal session, and prepared to sing. The notably-young instrument playing musicians saw him, and weren't, expecting anything too great.
But, when he opened he is mouth, and sang those first notes, their posture quickly changed. They really couldn't believe that singing was from 'that kid'.
We all know the rest of the story.
Ladies and gentlemen, that's the voice of an angel.
I'm 66 years old going on 20. My dad was in a band for over 50 years. I grew up going to dances at vfw's, country clubs and such. This is a song that he played every week. He would have Loved Josh and Allison! I know that I certainly do. Thanks for helping me make new memories.
Alison's voice is stunning and Josh's work on the fretboard is amazing.
The two of you are just AMAZING!!!!
I love this old stuff.
Such a WONDERFUL CLEAN VOICE!!!!
OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!
I believe Allison is as they say, “an old soul.” She brings the beautiful past into the present. This is the best rendition since Nat King Cole and that is a feat of musical prowess.
Agree 100%........
Also love both this rendition and Nat King Cole's.
Haven't heard a voice as pure and rich as Allison's since Karen Carpenter. She's amazing.
Excellent comparison John!
Exactly what i was thinking.
Like a throat full of angora sweaters....
I agree, but I also am amazed by Eva Cassidy every time I hear her
putting her name in the same sentence as Karen Carpenter is as high praise as there is .
I've heard many versions of this song. And yours is so simple, pure and moving. It rivals Nat king Cole's. Josh Turner is a such a fitting and creative accompanist This video will always be among my favorites.
Y. The Great American Songbook classics are wonderfully crafted, simple tunes that are best when not overly embellished, but simply sung and played from the heart.
Rivals Nat Cole! Sacrilege. Pretty voice I agree.
What Josh is doing on that guitar behind Allison's sublime vocals is really something interesting and special
I forgot how your voice floats on air, as does Josh's playing, and you are effortlessly charming! I love the way this is filmed. Your dress is so cute too :3 hope you are well.
This is just too lovely for words. You could have been a torch singer in the '40s, Allison.
Please do more vids with Josh, you two have a great musical chemistry.
(Josh was Django Rheinhardt in another incarnation).
It's 8am and my laptop tells me Allison is singing again. I pop it open and take a deep breath, hold it for a few moments, and give a deep sigh. Thank you for a beautiful morning gift, Allison.
Exactly the same here, D
Hoagy would be proud of that rendition. It does that great song more than justice. Well done.
Yes. I'm crying too.
ditto, ditto, ditto
😎👍👍👍Good Lord That is so Great. One of my all time favorite Songs. Thank You for such a great rendition! I LOVE THIS! auto sub, Like, Share! Beautiful Guitar work! Vocal to Die for! Superior mics and recording. 😵💫❤❤❤
I grew up in the 40's and 50's, listening to this song and others of that era. Played those 78's of my folks until all the grooves were worn down. Thanks for bringing back wonderful memories of Dad playing this on his guitar,, and singing to Mom. They've both been gone for 10 years and more, but I still hear them when I hear this song.
Yes. I love this song IT was my husband and my song...when we got married....love that BEAUTIFUL STARDUST❤

The only way we Aussies can get more of the beautiful Allison is watch her videos over and over again. All the best on the tour later this year.
She is gonna be on tour where? when? She heading down to the land of Oz?
@@thyslop1737 sadly not in Australia.
It is soo beautiful.I am stunned .
I am floored by this performance. The flawless elegance of the vocals floats above the master level intricate guitar orchestration. Love you both! Well done.🎶🥂♥️✅👍
Enchanting. Great job, both of you.
OMG!!! Such a hypnotizing, wonderful voice?
What great playing
What an amazing paring
I love this

I follow both of you and I love when you do a collab. Amazing as always. You should record an album together!
You got Josh to sorta comb his hair, kudos.
I relate...my hair does that if it grows out at any level
I really laughed at this! But, TBH, Josh looks great even with the most messy hairstyle.
Show us why we should like Monday's show us why we should like Mondays. The pair of you were quite brilliant and work well together. Thanks for sharing.
please just don't turn into an "I don't like mondays" mood :(
@@yccmzimmy Yes. Please keep the guns at home.
I keep coming back to this video. I've probably watch it a few dozen times over the last year, and it always puts a smile on my face. But also, a tear in my eye as it was truly my dad's favorite tune, and not every cover did it justice. He died at age 76 back in 2006, but as a musician himself for over 35 years he would have really loved this! I'm sad he never got a chance to hear and watch it at least once, as I'm pretry sure he would have sworn it AS the finest performance of "Stardust".
As such, he would have given it his highest personal musical performance rating,... judging it simply: "Tasty" 🙂
To reach that lofty grade in his mind, the singer would have been flawless and captivating. In this performance the sultry vocals by Allison certainly were, but here also, heartfelt commitment to this old standard was mesmerizing. When you looked into the camera and then shamlessly looked away,... those eyes,... oh Allison your eyes were like a window into your soul!
A beautiful physical presence a bonus but never required to reach his highest level of appreciation. This of course was a bonus situation, making the performance even more special.
But what all too often happens is the accompianment is overpowering,... sometimes as loud as if to be the "lead", and stand out and at times overpowering the vocal performance. Ego sometimes influences the instrument player subconsciously, in wanting to compete with the singer. But the SONG is the star, the singer the conveyer of the tune, and the guitar best to reside in the bacvkround,... subtly supporting the vocals and adding lots of "color" and interesting counter point to the performance. If done right (in my dad's mind), the musician is fully heard but slightly in the backround and not overpowering.
Josh did that and more here,... with a classy intro using harmonics, leading to a subdued intimate fluttering of cords, then building into some really fine fingerstyle incorporating much of what a full orchestra might add off the original score. Then after the pause @1:07, the fingerstyle playing is superb. Josh makes it look so effortless, but there's really a lot he's doing supporting the tune with. (the pinky fretting work done @1:50 always makes me smile :-) (Chet Atkins would have loved this performance also!)
Josh is a young man, and has advanced so much over the years that I don't even know if he realizes how good his arrangement instincts and playing ability have become. Unselfish in the backround but doing huge support of the tune and vocalist. Loud enough to be clearly heard, followed and enjoyed listening to the magic, he adds loads to the performance!
Some guitarists play loud because they don't understand the nuonces that softer play can create, helping to form an intimate bond with the audience. Josh's instincts are spot on here, and we're drawn into his musical web of brilliance, and into Allison's wondrous voice and presence. Oh, and those eyes,... did I mention those eyes already? 🙂
Surely a performance worthy of top rating by my dad,... this was surely..."Tasty"!

I forgot to mention, if you want to see how just ONE thumb can produce, take a listen and enjoy "Star Dust By Herb Ohta San played with Ukulele". Yep, dad would have loved this also I'm sure: ua-cam.com/video/wGEC-Gl4K20/v-deo.html
I have to agree. I love this song. I listened to three different well known singers cover it, one being Hoagy himself. I have never heard of Alison and Josh before now, but I have to say, she was just as good, if not better on this song than the three I listened to. Lovely voice, beautifully done. Josh, equally well. Totally agree about his supporting Alison, but not turning it into his song.
I am almost 65. I grew up loving all kinds of music, because my parents did. Love it to pieces.
Probably this is the Best version Star dusk that has ever been recorded her voice is just like that of an Celestial being so pure, clean as a drop of water
See, this is what the craft of song and singing is all about. Note the phrasing; so hard to find in singers today. Further, note the possession; Allison's making the song hers. It doesn't matter who sang it before. This is her song, right here, right now. That too is a long lost art.
This is pure gold, the kind you don't find on plated plates, but in the mines of hearts who understand something about communicating when singing.
Thank you, both, for giving us all a breath of fresh air!
Can you say National Treasure. What a tremendously talented young lady.
A treat to listen to.
VERY WELL SAID!!!!
Absolutely Keith! Possession. And, if I might add, reverence.
Just magical. An observation: this is why the period of the Great American Songbook was when the greatest popular music ever written was created. These songs will continue to be reinterpreted, performed, discovered and reimagined for another century, long after the vast majority of music has been forgotten.
Thank you Allison & Josh, that was beautiful!
What a lovely rendition of what I consider the best song ever written! Thank you!
ditto greatest ever
This song is often considered the greatest popular song of the 20th century. Nicely sung, with exceptional guitar work by Josh; he makes it look easy- it isn't!
It was the most popular song in America from the late '20s until the arrival of Lennon/McCartney and Yesterday.
@@jeffgaumond4250 Did not know this about Stardust- though I think Yesterday was the most covered song of all time. Stardust still retains its appeal, while Yesterday seems to be fading...
@@jeffgaumond4250 True. The population of the U.S. was almost twice as large when Yesterday was released as when Stardust was written. Maybe Stardust was actually twice as popular.
@@jeffgaumond4250It was my parent's song. Married in '47.
Wouldn't Hoagy be tickled to hear them do it.
Amazing. What an angelic rendition. I expect this duo will go places. Transcendent.
Allison "gets" every important aspect of a song, and she delivers unto us a beautiful and inspiring rendition -- every time.
Allison, you are as beautiful as that song!
These two really do have to put out a CD of guitar-only songs. This, Autumn in New York, and, of course, Crazy, would make a fantastic CD in themselves.
Her voice give me goosebumps.
These two artists have chemistry. No auto tuned voices just pure silk!
I love when Josh and Allison perform together.
Two years later, and I have tickets to their first album-release party as a group. And why not? Their talents overlap so well. Their single "Whatever That Is" is really excellent.
His guitar work never ceases to amaze me.
I am 76 and I just love this young ladies voice, with its warm and natural flavour. Still I am a little bit to young to remember when Stardust was on its top. But beeing in The American Songbook I have of course learned to love it! And I like Hoagy Carmichael. So you are digging deep in history here, Josh and Allison. Thank you for this wonderful uptaking, and greetings from Sweden.
Bravo! Walk down memory lane: Stardust was my Dad's favorite.
Wow! This threw me back to the '60's. Nat King Cole. I always loved this song! Allison, your voice is perfect for this style of music. Josh, I was fascinated watching the way your right hand was "fanning" the strings. Just beautiful, you guys! Thank you.👏👏👏👏👏😊
This more than makes up for any lost time ;) wonderful cover, I'm a huge fan! The timbre of your voice perfectly suits this song. Hope you're having a lovely Autumn, and thank you for brightening up mine
This young lady has the perfect voice for these old tunes. Great song...
Flawless and magical , Allison, you have made this song come to life like no other I have heard. (and I am 76) ..........Thank You
The best interpretation of stardust I’ve ever heard. Alison’s perfect voice together with Josh’s dreamy guitar. Perfect 😊🇮🇪
So beautiful! And that final two-handed chord - wow!
Dang, that was exceptional. A blast from the past, when music was more refined, and vocals meant something.
That was beautiful. I'm looking to buy and cordoba c10 and this might have sold me.
Outstanding. Josh Turner has made me a convert to the capo, wonderful playing.
Lovely content, thank you for sharing.
Beautiful diction, intonation, timbre, pitch and vibrato. Absolutely lovely. This beautiful "Young" lady sounds like a young Karen Carpenter. Excellent guitar accompany Mr. Turner; you both do this outstanding ballad much justice.
This is so beautiful and touching. Brings me back to memories of my wonderful step-mother who loved this composition over all others. And, added is Josh's playing. Terrific. That last chord looks like he has octopus fingers. Wow.
Hoagy Carmichael being interpreted by Allison and Josh. What a great way to start a Monday!
Josh reminds me of session players like the wrecking crew that could play anything. And Allison's voice on this classic is truly beautiful.
As good as the PMJ collabs are, I think this is my favorite way to listen to Allison...quality recording and simple accompaniment that shows off those crystal clear vocals. (Love everything she's done with Josh!)
I completely agree, but I'm glad it's not an either/or. I'm happy to have as much Allison as she's willing to share with us.
Josh seems to bring out a certain easy confidence in Allison that I don't hear in her other work.
Singers like Allison can really sing, that's why you would never see her on shows like the Voice.
Just brilliant. I am moved to tears to hear such talent from such young people in this age of fast, furious, forgetful music. These are the words of an 80+ year old man.
Technique, timing, tone and good taste. Fabulous vocal treatment. Terrific.
It’s so nice to see a young artist sing a beautiful song like Stardust even though it’s an oldie. You can see Miss Young appreciates Stardust an incredibly romantic song.
The quality of your voice is utterly, completely charming.
Isto é lindo demais. Obrigado. Não há palavras para descrever.
Arguably the most difficult song of the American Songbook. Simple, but so deep. Nicely Done!
So you take a Hoagy Carmichael song. Add a generous portion of Josh's brilliant guitar. Season and stir with the most beautiful vocal possible. Hmmm. I wonder what the outcome will be. Amazingly good both of you. Allison you are remarkable. Very talented and such a joy to watch. Thanks guys!!
Such a beautiful and natural voice and you just totally nail those songs in every way. This version,......it's absolutely fantastic Allison,...love it. Well done all round, xo.
Went and listened to the original by Hoagy Carmichael and the cover by Nat King Cole (with full orchestra). Your version with a single guitar and outstanding vocal beats them both, in my opinion.
Brilliant! My father used to sing this song at parties when I was a child, and I've always loved it. Allison and Josh are magic together.
Well that warmed the soul.
On another level, it's amazing how just one voice and one instrument can transport a soul. The way no other overproduced, auto-tuned product could. More of this, please!
Now THAT is how a great singer uses their voice so strategically - even if SEEMING relaxed and effortless whilst doing it! Perfecto!
Beautifully done and not the easiest of songs.
Nice to hear young people singing songs that I can understand. No cursing either, what a concept
So many tricky intervals, and Allison navigates them with utter confidence. So nice!
Absolutely wonderful......may I be so bold as make a suggestion for a follow-up offering??...
"You Belong to Me"
"See the Pyramids along the Nile...."
I keep coming back to this song.. Think Hoagy himself would have loved it too..
Beautiful song Alison and great guitar Josh! A pleasure listening to it!😊
Beautifully done, mix ,camera work, performances. You’ve captured the essence of this composition perfectly. 1:31 in the end there’s still that song (not this song😊), comes crying like the wind. It seems like all this life was just a dream.
I’ve never heard “refrain” sung more beautifully!
Your voice and the guitar playing caress my soul
Oh my gosh! One of the most beautiful renditions of this standard I've ever heard. It's rare these days for young performers to put a lump in my throat, a chill down my back, and cause me ... moist eyes. This isn't just YT comment platitudes; I literally had to catch my breath.
Me too
Two of my favourite musicians playing a song I adore... And doing it beautifully. Perfect! Thank you both.
A top pairing. I have been listening to Ms Young singing. My conclusion is that she could sing the phone book and make it sound good.
lovely rendition, Hoagy is smiling from above
