Theo: "growing up we didn't even believe in Canada" 😂😂
Most didn't. They've had 2 Trudeau's. Current one is a drama teacher that's worn Blackface so many times he can't count. We have Biden, but holy.

That might be the best line ever. 🤣
As a Canadian I can say we Canadians are not nice, were polite. Huge difference.
Polite passive aggressiveness
The Geneva conventions are basically a list of war crimes that Canadians invented during ww2 😂
and depending where they are from. I've been to many places in the States nicer then Southern Ontario
I don't even find Canadians that polite. Manners consist of more than saying thanks. They can be incredibly helpful though, usually with car-related shit
aww ricky! meet some new people baby!!
I'm from Australia, I'm 50 and I can honestly say I've never seen a game of ice hockey, but growing up, I knew the name - Wayne Gretzky, and I knew that he was the best.
yup! He didn't earn the nickname "The Great One" for nothing! Look up some highlights are prepare for your face to melt!
There's this lovely thing called the internet...
are you serious haha thats sweeet
That's a cool story.
Start watching man it’s the greatest sport out there
It's nice to know even The Great One isn't immune to doing the most Canadian thing possible: moving to Florida
Arizona is a good runner up
Same thing for those in the northeast of the US. Very common for people from NJ/NYC to migrate down to FL after retiring
lol
I believe there’s 500k homes in Florida purchased by Canadians. Very common for Canadians in Ontario and Quebec to frequent Florida.
It WAS a Canadian thing up until they destroyed all of the motels on Collins and all of the trailer parks ouotside of Miami and alog the eastern coast. Now, it's just a few condo owners. We bought out Costa Rica, and like spending our winters in Cuba since the late 90s.
This year, NOBODY I talked to is going to Florida, or the USA. We all mostly try to go ANYWHERE but there since the change to uber-MAGAtism. Nice people HATE bigoted idiots.
Theo: "I was in Edmonton"
Great One: "oh yeah, I've been there"
unappreciated.
Great line by Wayne. That was subtle gold
He was referring to the comedy club. Don’t think he was trying to be funny about being an Edmonton Oiler
Gretz is a reflection of an old idealistic hockey Canadian culture. It's certainly changed a lot. But it's very very heartwarming to reflect on the past.
Exactly. This is how I viewed Canada 10+ years ago still. Gretzky hasn't felt or experienced the shift in life and culture in Canada.
Yeah Canada is a bizarre country. 10 years ago I'd go to Brampton and say it was basically another country. Nowadays I point to Brampton as a justification as to why Canada is a real country as a different distinct thing from the USA. It's funny how things can change. Canada is wild because you get like stereotypical guys up north riding snow mobiles playing hockey, than you have South Asian Canada/French Canada/Native Canada/Atlantic Canada etc. We're really more like an empire than anything else.@@robus6071

He's an icon down here too. He's the GOAT (honorary mention for Gordie Howe).
another honorary mention for Lemieux, the 3 best to ever do it.
That is NOT hockey hair. That is a MULLET, which we associate with Rednecks and rural hicks. Doesn't mean soemone IS one of those, it's just a stereotype.

Wayne has to be the most humble GOAT across sport.
there is racism in every country, even Canada. but EVERYONE loves Gretzky. so he mostly meets happy people.
I was gonna say, growing up in northern Manitoba was very racist. It's not s bad as it used to be now, but it was whites vs natives back in the day. A lot of tension.
I'm a 54 year old Canadian. There IS racism, always has been, but it's NOT a huge part of our population and it stays pretty much an inner group of like minded bigot thing. Being racist in public is a good way to get insulted back or to get your face kicked in, unless you live in some rural hole out West (I LIVED THERE, experienced it, and saw it first hand, so no excuses or rants). It was worst BEFORE we had immigrants from eveywhere, living outside of Toronto and Vancouver. Now that people are mingled in with the rest of us in most of the country, it has really mellowed down. The black and Pakistani/Indian jokes of the 80s and 90s are just about gone, except for a few remaining morons, usually over 50. Now, it seems to be more along religious lines, and cultural differences, like LGBT, and Muslims, and it's pretty regional. What is funny, is that the Muslims, who get most of the racism and bigotry thrown theor way, are ALSO bigoted and protesting against things WE value, like the right to be gay in this country, or our right to support Israel in this never-ending Palestinian debate... I guess it's a two-way street. Religion is NOT what we base our values on, and THAT is a sore point with many ultra-religious types, like Taliban-Jesus Christians and Muslim integrists or extremists.
The only type that lasted, is the age old Canadian sport of Quebec-bashing, or fist nation stereotyping and abuse. Now even immigrants participate in those. Which makes me wonder about our vetting programs, and how seriously they take the papers they sign to be allowed here. IF immigrants PUSH against our values and customs once we welcome them, they WILL face anger and reproach, it's just human nature. If I went to Saudi Arabia and starter waling down the street with a beer in my hands, I'd probably get arrested and treated like a murderer, so I don't get people coming here and asking us to change our country for THEM!
@@TheJimprez I wouldn't call them morons, they just grew up in a totally different country culture. Especially if it was small town canada where it was only Indians and whites in the entire Province for decades.
There is not a country on earth where it doesn't exist but there are levels to things. In Canada for the most it's not a seething hatred.
@jadonloomis yeah it would be wrong to say we don't have it at all. But it's a hush hush thing because most people know they will be cast out from social circles if people know youre racist. Most candians love everyone as long as they love canada as equal as canadians. But now let's not talk about the minority groups of LGBT haters and save canada supporters
You just never know what Theo’s going to say. ‘I met Bryan Adams at a breakfast buffet in South Africa.’ Conversation continues uninterrupted… 😂
That's funny like Geddy Lee and Robert Plant running into each other at a hotel in Morocco. Their rooms were even across the hall from one another. Geddy says he saw Robert leaving his room across the hall. He said to himself "That guy looks like Robert Plant". They crossed paths later in the restaurant and finally put one and one together.
😂
Theo: I went up to Edmonton to perform at a comedy club there.
Wayne: oh yeah, I’ve been over there.
Understatement of a lifetime right there 😂😂
Actually Theo Von came here to Edmonton last year for a outdoor comedy show in Kinsmen park.
yeah..then they compaire edmonton to the rest of canada.
He's referring to West Edmonton Mall. I'm betting a Yuk Yuk's club? But good one.

Theo having The great one on here is huge! Much love from Canada Theo you’re a beauty!
The respect and class shown by both is awesome
The thing i love about Theo is he is so diverse. There seems to be no topic he isnt interested in and has random knowledge and experiences he can bring to the table.
Gretzky is American, he hasn’t lived in Canada for close to 40 years. He only comes back here to sell endorsements as he can’t do that in the states because hardly anyone actually cares about hockey in America. In Canada it’s losing its footing as well because it’s too expensive for the middle class to play.
He grew up there and you can tell by his class and humility that he isn’t really American. Canadian government should reflect on why its most successful always leave
Yes finally the truth is said

As a Canadian, when I lived in the States, I didn't care about Canada either lol
Canada is sht hole now justyna ruined it

As a Canadian who lived in the States, I had the exact opposite reaction. Everything in the US reminded me it was better at home.
Canada has TWO national sports. The winter one is ice hockey. The summer one is lacrosse. I hear this misconception all the time. if you look at the actual bill that was passed, you’ll see it designated both of these sports as national sports.
You folks down south beat yourselves up too much. In college I spent ALOT of time in Michigan, and people are so extroverted and approachable compared to my countrymen. We like our space and privacy up here kind of a bit like Scandinavians. People at the bus stops wont talk to each other, or at the bar its kind of painful to just strike up a random conversation unless you got a buzz going. You guys will just butt into conversations with total strangers with ease and ask questions or state opinions. Just right out of the blue. I actually like that, I find it funny and entertaining. always puts a smile on my face. Canadians are definitely more polite and respectful than Americans(typically), but its just a formality and culture. We could potential dislike you or find you annoying, but well still play that card to be a pro. I dont know whats worse. Hiding your true feelings or being an a__hole?
Good observations and I agree. Americans are pretty easy going for the most part. I'm always seeing a lot of hate towards the US online. But it's like you can hate the government, understandable but the people are pretty chill. Especially these Europeans man they act like Americans are the scum of the earth.
Graduated High School in '09 in Michigan. We had to memorize not only US states but also Canadian provinces and territories. I believe it was (as weird as it sounds) part of my US History class. World History was another mandatory class.
Canadians don’t actually learn about world geography that much in school. It’s more about learning about the us cities and states when they watch the nhl, nfl, mlb, and follow there movie stars etcand listen to the news. For example I know Baltimore because of the ravens which I heard was close to Washingtoni wanted to do a trip there which I learned I would have to drive through New York Pennsylvania etc. I learned about Louisiana through hurricane Katrina and California because of movies. School teaches squat
If you go abroad and meet Americans they literally have no clue what canada is. And they make fun of our accents even though we think we sound the same
As someone who lives about 20 minutes from Canada and on a side summer job I go into Canadian Waters on the ST Lawrence multiple times a week... I can probably name two Provinces lmao.
It’s interesting that they mention Lacrosse, our national sport and no racism in Canada. Lacrosse was originated by Canadian Indigenous peoples and yet there is still a huge problem with discrimination against Indigenous peoples here.
