Michael, Hang on to your faith in God and Jesus and their words. Trying to bring others to God is our job, but be prepared for those that do not believe and never will. You'll only receive ridicule and anger, and hate from them. This is nothing new though. Jesus warned his disciples about this exact situation in his sermon on the mount - Matthew 7.6. Whenever I see old photos or when I tour a cemetery I often wonder, who were they? What did they love, hate, dream. What was their biggest fear, or greatest achievement. What did their voice sound like? Who will remember me?
My father passed away in April 2018 and I cant remember what his voice sounded like. Ive tried to recall. No one is going to erect monuments to us. We lived, loved worked and died just like millions of people before us.
At each of those gravestones, there was a day when several or many gathered to say farewell to a loved one. At every gravestone you looked at, I imagined people surrounding that site 250 or 300 years ago mourning the loss of a loved one or friend. Thankfully that cemetery hasn't been vandalized. Rest In Peace to all that are buried there......it seems like a peaceful part of the world.
I always think the same thing. My 2nd G.Grandma passed aged 30 leaving my G.Grandma aged 6. Most likely she was in attendance. Gives me bumps like you. It's like if you close your eyes then open they will be there. My G.Grandma would've been there multiple times coz her entire family is there except for her. ❤
I love finding old cemeteries. The farm fields where I grew up always had one lone tree in the middle of the field. More often than not there would be a family cemetery under the tree.
It's mind blowing how many of these forgotten cemeteries there are. I know of 4 cemeteries that have been taken over and hidden by woods in Mississippi right now. Thank you for what you are doing here!
I know of three here in Oklahoma. One is so old the engravings on the tombstones are no longer readable. Worn almost smooth. Several have brass, bronze, or cast iron bed frames on top of the interned. Almost like a fence delineating the grave site. Several have field stones to mark the head and the foot of the grave. No inscriptions what so ever. All of them are totally encompassed by green briars, trees, and poison ivy. One is an all Black cemetery that holds the remains of ex-slaves. The youngest death date is from the late 1890’s. Others go back to the 1870’s. The landowner asked that I not tell anyone where it is located, not even the State, for fear some idiots will try to destroy the tombstones if word gets out as to where it is located.
When you read their names off the grave stones, you are giving them recognition. You are giving recognition that they once lived. Words and names have power.
I lived in France ; we have more things like this with our long History and I love the way you are showing respect for the ancients , keep going in what you do , thanks to share some forgotten part of History
Bof des cimetières aussi vieux y'en a peu suite à toutes les réorganisations. En général les plus vieilles tombes datent du milieu du 19ème siècle dans les cimetières français.
I've been to one of the oldest graveyards in the eastern US, the one next to the old church in Jamestown, VA. Graves dating to the early 1600's, with some of them, the more wealthy and influential people, buried under the floor of the church itself.
One of the saddest things is that most of the trees in this woods are far younger than some of the people buried there. In 1727 this was likely to have still been old growth, the understory would have been much clearer of plants and, by implication, it was logged off at least once despite being a location of graves. Maybe even twice.

Interesting video. The oldest cemetery I've ever been in is a small non-descript plot near a busy intersection in Portsmouth, NH. It has graves from the 1600's. A lot of them were fisherman and family. It's not maintained, and as you walk around, the hump of the casket underground is obvious. I don't think they're down 6 feet. They must be stone of some kind because wood would have rotted years ago.
Thank you for the journey. Please don’t give out coordinates. Who would tell you they have bad intentions? It’s maintained, and family members may be the ones who are doing that. They are not forgotten. 💜
I just looked on find a grave and they seemed to have pictures of most of the headstones- I wonder if there are any burial records in an archive somewhere to identify the unmarked graves?
@@netdog713 Lancaster County Historical Society has information on this cemetery that was recorded in the 1940's containing the names on all the inscribed headstones. Always be protective of cemeteries. They are a final resting place for some. I am profoundly grateful you don't just openly list coordinates. This ground is sacred to ancestors of these people.
A great old cemetery WW! I've been there a few times years ago and the first time it was very overgrown. Fortunately it looks in far better shape now I also remember some sunken graves so they were apparently filled in. Those who destroy these sacred sights are very much disrespecting our ancestors who came before us and suffered so many hardships that makes our lives of today so easy. Thanks Kindly for this vid in such a beautiful place on Mother Earth! DaveyJO
I agree, for those who are going to destroy/vandalize or disrupt in any way a scacred sight such as these gravesights, just remember. KARMA IS A NASTY BITCH!!! watch-out......Keep these videos coming.....
"Daveyjo Weaver" Your perspective is a good one, yet on the other hand, some of our ancestors were not all people who were victims and suffered so that their progeny can have it easier. Some of our ancestors were people who oppressed others, who mistreated others, who took advantage of others and who were just not "nice" or "respectable" people. We all probably have ancestors like that.
L Martinez I do agree with you totally. No doubt the Native Peoples were forced out, raped, sold into slavery and murdered. Some indeed were psychopaths and greedy people, just as some are today and have been controlling the world centuries. But some were good folks and were not like this. All ancestors should be respected, especially the Indigenous Peoples. I believe things are changing and more and more people are becoming aware of the lies and of their own Spirits. All we human family are Earthlings, Universal Citizens. We need to unite as one people and we can change anything for the better. Thanks for your comment, I appreciate it. Love, Light and Peace! DaveyJo
Son of Yahawadah I can understand your feelings. Those same greedy sickos have been running the world, not Mother Earth, for centuries. No color of the human race has been spared. And the great majority of our Human Family are decent folks, some of which are in horrible situations because of those same type people who created the biggest genocide in history. No treaty by the US government was kept. The Native Peoples NEVER broke a treaty. They were and are truthful and honest people, at least the many I know. All Elders should be respected, unless they prove otherwise. We all know many in the public eye who are less than worthy. Please do not take a group of people and blame it all on that color. There are good and bad in all colors, Black, Red, White and Yellow. It is the Medicine Wheel, the Four Colors, the Four Directions, Earth, Air, Water and Fire. What ever you do to the Earth, you do to yourself. Whatever you do to others, you do to yourself and all beings. Creator has made all of us who we are and the Medicine Wheel unites all in One Circle. Black Elk called it the Tree of Life. We all are One with All things. My ancestors were not violent people, they refused to go to war because they didn't believe in taking the life of another. My background is mostly from Europe and a little from here. When I was young and watched the cowboy and Indian movies, I was always for the Indians. I feel bitterness about how the Indigenous Peoples were treated, raped, killed, sold into slavery and treated as if they were not even human beings. And Human Beings who live with and within Spirit. Who knew Earth Mother as a true mother and living being, which she truly is. In my older age I have learned to Love and Forgive myself. In this way I can Love and forgive others. What my ancestors were and did or anyone's ancestors is not my fault but theirs. We will all have to atone for things as we walk along this path of life, or the Good Red Road. Putting my ancestors all in the scum category is just what happened when greedy power seeking people in charge did when they arrived here. It is time to honor the teachings and put aside false beliefs and those lies we've all been hearing since birth. But there are wise Elders in all colors. Many are not respected and stuffed away in sterile institutional buildings because they are old and today, are not able to be taken care of. Because this fake world keeps people enslaved to pay for things we don't need, for electric, for heating, for food and shelter. Those who can't pay are on the streets or die. Vets fight and come home to what? A hard time. But the True Spirit of this Nation comes from the Indigenous Peoples of this Turtle Island. Ben Franklin and others met with the Five Nations in Lancaster Pa. In the 1740s. This is where the idea of individual rights and freedoms was introduced to the Euro people by the Native Elders. They were subjects of Great Spirit not a king. In fact there were Elders present during the signing of the Declaration of Imdependance. The world seems screwed but Mother Earth is not. Just as the Mayan calendar marks 2012 as the end of a cycle and beginning of a new one, which includes earth changes. The end of a cycle and the world as we knew it then. And indeed it is changing and so are all Creators children, one by one. So indeed so, I call you my Brother and I see you for You and not what any of your ancestor did. There is good and bad in all colors. But all colors are mostly good and have begun to stop being programmed and brain washed into thinking otherwise. Once one finds the Good Red Road, you can never leave, you will always have a toe on this path. It is one Human Family that will change thing and not governments. In fact it is what governments fear most, the people United. There is powerful darkness to overcome but the Light is far more powerful and is changing things. This Light comes from within and not from without. When people are struggling to survive and do jobs they hate to make false ends meet, they cannot focus on their own Spirit. We all need to follow our Hearts, listen, hear, feel and see with our Heart senses. As said before, the peoples, we Earthlings are and have begun to wake up. So Thank You stating your feelings. It has helped me to review my own feelings and access where I am standing now. The biggest holocaust happened right here, biggest in history. Yet little true history is ever taught in schools. Indeed, Columbus was an egotistical greed skum and should have nothing named after him. All the Indigenous Peoples of the Earth have been targeted to be eliminated but they were not. That Spirit can't be killed. The greedy ones were afraid of their power and honesty. They knew their medicine worked. It wasn't until 1973 that the religious freedoms act was passed, 1973? Unbelievable! Sweat lodges and Sun Dances were done in secret and other ceremonies as well until 1973! So, I do respect my ancestors, at least the ones I know about from the last 4-5 centuries. Others may have well been scums, I don't know but I know about myself. So I am a mixture, a mongrel and above it all a Human created by Creator. We all are. Love, Light and Peace!
Much better than resting in a mausoleum.Surrounded by Mother Nature is beautiful.

Fascinating to think that those people lived around the time of the Declaration of Independence.

I've been to one of the oldest graveyards in the eastern US, the one next to the old church in Jamestown, VA. Graves dating to the early 1600's, with some of them, the more wealthy and influential people, buried under the floor of the church itself.
I would keep this place a secret too. What a great find!
One of the saddest things is that most of the trees in this woods are far younger than some of the people buried there. In 1727 this was likely to have still been old growth, the understory would have been much clearer of plants and, by implication, it was logged off at least once despite being a location of graves. Maybe even twice.
One of my favorite messages is From Anna Strong a spy in George Washington's list of Spies, Living well beyond 1776 on Her Grave she says "TIME, how short!" I'll never forget that.........

"Daveyjo Weaver"
Your perspective is a good one, yet on the other hand, some of our ancestors were not all people who were victims and suffered so that their progeny can have it easier.
DaveyJO (Two Wolves Talking)
