    Hey Ben. I grew up north of Denver and moved to NYC to go to college. Well that was 28 years ago. I haven’t owned a car since. Been thinking of finally getting out of here for the first time and moving back west. Just had a funny thought of me driving a 70s vette. Even in the 80s when I started driving this year vette would have been vintage. Anyhow. Keep up the content. Good job.

    Keep up the good work Ben! You and your channel are the best. Sooner are later I’m going to buy one of these from you not only because I love them, but just because I love the care in what you do to make them right is very impressive! So I’m all in to pay for one of these from you and I live right here in Houston and I will most definitely trust one of yours to get me home. Thanks!💯✅

      Well, nowhere he said; out of everything in the world! Wow, he just wishes he could afford to buy a corvette from this guy… but that’s only if you cared to read and understand the entire sentence, and language. You must have learned a lot from watching fake news, by picking WORDS from sentences and turning it into something that wasn’t said. Where’s the part, “FROM YOU?”
      Meaning that he wishes he could afford to buy something from ONE SPECIFIC PERSON. It doesn’t mean THE ONLY WISH in the world. Unreal.

    New to your videos and your channel and I just stumbled onto this video by accident really. I gotta say, I've never been a classic Corvette fan - I never liked them but, I didn't dislike them either. Just never really caught my eye *_BUT._* I will say that this particular one hooked me right in. I had myself a regular _'Christine'_ moment, soon as I saw it. You knocked it out of the park, man. I imagine this thing as a natural "chick magnet".
    You breathed new life into this car and I love the end result. I love it *_ALL_* - the black and red exterior/interior, the wing, the pipes, the motor, the rims. You outdid yourself. I don't know what it was about this particular car but, it caught my eye the way no other 'Vette has done. This thing looked *_AWESOME._* Great job man.
    Too bad you couldn't keep it to keep fine tuning it and all. I envy the person who bought it. I hope they appreciated the hard work you put into it and the massive potential this car had. Again, awesome upload here. Nod in your direction...

    Yes a decently priced corvette not sure what state your in but in Washington state it’s a good price. It’s too bad it isn’t a 4 sp car but in 77 it kinda rare for a 3 sp automatic if it’s a original transmission anyway and not a 700r4 but ill regardless it’s reasonably priced. The side pipes alone brand new are $1,200 dollars

    With 49,213 production models made for '77, this car was super popular back in that era (and the color 'black' was once again offered...the first time since it disappeared after 1969). Of course anything '78 (from Silver anniversary model to Pace cars are sweet because of the new rear window, and upgraded interior). Once 1979 hit, folks were thinking they'll buy a Vette, flip it and make a fast dollar (henceforth the highest production models of 53,807...in all of Corvettes' 65 years). That said, the beloved entry level fourth generation 1984 Corvette sold a whopping 51,547 units (okay, '84 isn't 'beloved' today, but the magic number for all C4's sold is approximately 358,180). No your car⬆ isn't perfect, but where it was to where you took it speaks volumes, another job well done Ben! Almost forgot, looking forward to the '80 being brought back too.

    Whats the deal with the A/C? I noticed the belt missing. The A/C is super simple, you could easily fix it, if there is something wrong with it. You did a nice job... looks way better, and I like the side pipes. It was common for owners to install them in the 70's and early 80's. Very period correct car with the wheels, pipes and engine chrome!

      I agree it's pretty simple from 77 and later when it went to an orifice tube/accumulator setup but I'd say not too easy to get to parts. That evap isn't cheap either if it leaks.

    Dude where do you find these corvette to work on? Before you even finish one project, you’ve got another one just waiting! I’ve been looking for one in similar condition, when you first get them, to work on. All the ones I’ve run across in that condition people want like $7k to $10k, which is what you are selling them for after you put a ton of work in them. I’m assuming you have to be paying $3k to $5k for the project cars so you can at least make a little money for you time and parts. But all the ones that I can find in that price range look like they have been rolled off a cliff.

    • @TheCorvetteBen
      @TheCorvetteBen  7 років тому +1

      I usually use CL, facebook, and ebay. I usually price mine fairly in my opinion, because the longer they sit for sale, the less time I have money to put in another one. I usually will cut someone a good deal on order to get the car sent down the line. I COULD have started at 12k or something like that and waited a long time for it, but the faster the better. I think you need to buy one of mine when I get done with one.

    And yet another C3 gets ready to relaunch into the harsh world of owners who don't know how to maintain 'em. Nevertheless, great job Ben! Now for the Corvette after the white one, can you do something a bit different? Another big block Vette, or another stick shift Vette, where you try to make that shifter less balky, as a commenter said he did. Possibly a late C4 or maybe even a C5!

      TheCorvetteBen Excellent point. With the 3M polyurethane fenders like the Camaros/Firebirds of the same era, I'm with you 100%. That said, the LS1 was a really good engine. What I never understood is if the C4 saved Corvette's behind from extinction, the C5 was a generation worth forgetting with the exception of the Z06. But all C4's are great cars to me. And honestly anything in a C3 is worth saving too. Looking forward to your 1980 resurrection. Sure loved the front/rear ends on this 'freshened' C3.

      Depends on how perfect you want to make the car.

      Depends what it needs? interior, outside work, engine and drive train ok? Mine was a total restoration other then drivetrain and have about 12000 in it.

    Ben, how did you get those arm rest covers to stick onto the door panel?

    • @TheCorvetteBen
      @TheCorvetteBen  5 років тому

      Double stick tape

    • @johngotone4334
      @johngotone4334 5 років тому

      The ones I had came with two sided tape and stuck and worked fine

      Hmmm, mine I had to transfer from my original door panel which was shot to a used replacement. I tried double stick foam tape and hot melt glue, both failed. Maybe I should scuff up the surfaces more... thanks for the replies.

    I agree to de-bubba the car the side pipes need to go. And that spoiler is cancer. Otherwise I really liked the black with red interior. I used to overlook these cars but they are really growing on me. Seems to look better and better the older they get.

    Love the car Ben, I was wondering what it costs to ship to Ontario? Also just a thought, have you considered doing a 76, 77, or 78 Trans Am build. They are very popular especially if they are the black and gold Bandit look.

      +Steven Park shipping shouldn't be too bad but Texas is a far state from Canada. I got a car no running from New Jersey to Texas for $600 a few years ago

    I have an 81 what a Custom 78 L82 nose on it but you have they have the same shitbox 350 low compression Motors what they're 5 bolt mains and if maintained they have no power but they run forever so that's the major plus whatever anybody says about the Chevy's the forever motor I got my car as a total wreck but fortunately the motor is pretty damn tight

    That’s a 10k car all day. I paid 9800 for one that needed a lil more work than yours. And as far as I’m concerned quality repairs on your part
