It would be interesting to know how long it took you to draw this, it is difficult to tell with because it's sped up. But I imagine it takes longer than it looks

How much pressure would you say you apply on the paper when you do these renders? I tend to apply way too much to get some colour and it ends up being bad for the other side of the paper. Anyways, amazing video, cheers!

Get better paper. Print paper isn't generally good for art stuff. Check out Strathmore paper

@@CuriousTrotter The paper's not really the problem I reckon, I happen to apply too much pressure and the back is «embossed» with the drawing, for a lack of a better word. I was curious how he gets sharp, dark lines without much pressure, as it appears.

Thank you both. Without more info, my feeling is that it may be to do with your materials.... pencils, paper and maybe even the surface underneath the paper. I mentioned in the video that the two white pencils that I use are very different to each other. The one that creates a nice sharp bright white line is very chalky in texture, and the other is waxy. The waxy one is difficult to sharpen to a good point and won’t give me much contrast either. It’s quite possible that the pencils you’re using don’t sharpen as well as others might, and they might work well on white paper, but run across the surface of marker pen without the friction you need for contrast. If your pencil is leaving marks on the back of the paper such as indents, it sounds like there’s too much pressure. If you can’t get the contrast without that much pressure, then it’s likely to be the tools you’re using. I’ve listed my pencils and paper etc in the description under the video. Hope this helps.
