    I tried prying it out with screwdriver but did not work. I used the technique and it worked well. I simply grabbed the bar end screw with a pair of pliers and lightly tapped the pliers with a hammer and it came out! Thanks.

    Thanks for the video!! Although it's FAR EASIER to LEAVE the bar weight on the end. Roll back the handgrips so you can see the holes in the bars. Use a pointy object to rotate the clips sideways so the tabs go under the edges. Then spray with some light oil. Pull it out by the bar end.

    Sometimes just removing the bar end screw is a nightmare (red Loctite). I've had to heat it up on my Ninja 250, making a sheet aluminum shield to protect the grip.

    So... If you don't want to damage the clip, just pull de weight till you se the clip, and with two flat screw drivers push to the center of the weight. And you take them off in half of this time and you can use them again.

    Great video! Alternatively, you can buy a long M6 rod or bolt, screw on a couple of nuts and washers and then screw it into the handlebar. Then, take a crescent wrench around the rod and use a hammer to pound the wrench to pull out the retainer.

    • @Chrisnuzzo76
      @Chrisnuzzo76 2 роки тому

      1st, you must trade in your 600rr for a liter bike, then you proceed from there 🤪.
      Just kidding with you. My first bike was a 96 Honda CBR600F3 bought back in 97, and after putting a Yosh full exhaust and going 1 tooth down on the front sprocket it was topping out at 183 mph and beating 97 GSXR 750's. The CBR600's are excellent bikes, and a perfect bike for someone to learn how to ride sportbikes. Enjoy your little monster 😍.
      BTW, I recently purchased the 2nd bike of my life and it is a 2003 Yamaha R1 with 10,000 miles on it. Wow, this thing is insane. Now I know that if I started on a 900+ cc bike I would have killed myself. Even after riding the CBR600F3 for 18,000 miles in 1 year, I still feel like a total newb when trying to handle this slightly nodded R1. But... That didn't stop me from ordering a Hindle full race exhaust and Power Commander 5 🤯. Let's hope it doesn't wheelie in 3rd after my dyno tune 😂. Already yokes the wheel up at 70 mph in 2nd 😂. Pretty scary machine really. I couldn't imagine a 2017+ R1 💩my👖

      @@hectorcortes7246 if you’re willing to break stuff, you can hammer a wedge between the inside of the bar end weight and the outside of the bar/grip. It accomplishes a similar outcome but you may break more stuff doing it. Continue at your own risk.

      You should not remove it unless there is something to replace it with. It acts like a tuned mass damper. It absorbs and cancels out vibrations. I put hand guards on to replace the weights so I never had any adverse effects.

    • @Casey_Schmidt
      @Casey_Schmidt  3 роки тому

      @Dude Speak - I can think of two things. The easier one would be to get a piece of all thread and try and pull it out by threading a long piece of it into the core and pull it out. The other option which really isn’t that much more difficult would be to remove the handlebars and hit them on the ground in the way that would make it come back to the end. If you choose the second option, maybe put some thing down on the ground like cardboard or a rag so you don’t mar the paint.

      “Honda CB500 handlebar inner weight retainer clip” The service manual calls the component “weight retainer“. The part number I found that most closely matches this part is: 53108-KR3-940. That may be for a different chassis but that’s the closest I could find on a first search. If you contact your Honda dealer, they should be able to help you out; although at a higher price than online suppliers. Good luck and thanks for watching!

    • @Casey_Schmidt
      @Casey_Schmidt  3 роки тому +1

      @Timothy Gardner - I am assuming that by "stripped the head" you are referring to the Phillips/JIS screw, correct? If that's the case, first try using a JIS bit. They fit far better than Philips bits and are less likely to cam-out. If that won't work, then maybe try an impact driver. If it is completely stripped and won't come out, you may have to cut the grips off and undo the little clips from within the internal keeper. Alternatively, you could possibly try this guy's method: ua-cam.com/video/USpea_DObF0/v-deo.html
