  • The Mennock Pass (Southern Uplands)is a stunningly scenic stretch of road, running from the hamlet of Mennock, just south of Sanquhar to Wanlockhead, Scotland's highest village.
The Mennock Pass is the highest of the three named passes crossing the Lowther Hills. It weaves its way through the beautiful southern uplands from the hamlet of Mennock, just south of Sanquhar, as far as Wanlockhead, Scotland's highest village.
This spectacularly scenic spot is popular with hillwalkers and cyclists alike, but if you're driving, do watch out for the occasional sheep crossing the road!
Once you reach Wanlockhead at the top of the pass, well work a visit is the Museum of Lead Mining. This 18th century lead mine offers the only underground mine tour in Scotland and you can even try your hand at gold panning!
