My boyfriend and I went to our first couples therapy session yesterday. I felt horrible, unnoticed, and like a bad person afterwards. I’m not sure how my boyfriend felt afterwards. It felt like the therapist was critical of me and telling me what type of person I am within 20 minutes of meeting me. He may be right or wrong but it felt harsh and off. I still did my best to listen and to be respectful. He asked to continue therapy with my boyfriend and said nothing to me. I was looking forward to getting a neutral opinion of our relationship but it didn’t seem to be about us or the relationship. I’m trying to be understanding but feel rejected and ignored.
Liya You should bring this concern to the therapist (if you are comfortable) or see if you can get a therapist change. I am a therapist and to hear that you felt that way is very unfortunate. It sounds like your therapist may have sided with the other male in the room, which is unethical. Therapy shouldn’t leave you feeling upset or offended afterward. I hope things go better.
You need to find a therapist that fits you and your partner. You are the client you are the number one!! Listen to your gut there are various of therapist with different styles and I know you will find one that fits you right.
Lol you know what funny is im 100% sure this is gonna happen to my girl she and ahe is the one that wants it because she doesnt thing i do enough but i damn near do everthing lol. Don't understand why women even want this kind of extra drama in the relatiinship
@@blueman18423 what is therapy supposed to do exactly ?sugarcoat uncomfortable truths or in fact not bring them up at all ?keep telling people whatever they want to hear , so that they keep coming back and give repeat business ?
Sorry that you felt that way. A couples therapist should try to make you both feel heard and valued within the therapy room. I work with couples and try to take into consideration how both parties feel. The point of couples therapy is that the therapist allows freedom within the therapy room for honest and open communication, a safe space with no judgment. It sounds like you didn’t feel that from your therapist but don’t give up, try a different one.
Great video! im about to start studying counselling and eventually becoming a family/couples therapist. This painted a great pictures of what’s ahead! Thanks :D
Message SilencedVictims on Instagram he helps people get through depression, anxiety and other feelings like them. He offers therapy for 10 times cheaper than a Therapist that you would have to go to and speak to face to face(£25/$35). He helps you through text because many people may not feel confident going out and seeing a therapist. This also gives you time to think and really express yourself, he is there to listen and assist.
This is just superb, I have been researching "success of marriage counseling" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Siyadelyn Unthinkable Smasher - (should be on google have a look )? It is a great one off product for discovering how to mend your marriage without the hard work. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my brother in law got great results with it.

I think it would be great to actually have some content on how to maintain a healthy relationship!!! I'm Gay and was struggling with my bf, but surprisingly, we got back together after i ordered a Love Spell. I got results the next day
You still have a responsibility to your patients. So to say "I dont keep secrets" is bullshit. If one person tells you something in confidence that she ia safe and you turn around and bring it up in couples session is a blatant violation of doctor/patient confidentiality. I can't believe you're a licensed therapist. That's terrifying.
Courtney Blackner All of the couple's therapists who I contacted recently have policies like this. This is not individual counseling. You should go to a separate person for that. As she said, the client in this case is not the individual but the relationship. If she has to try to remember everyone's secrets, one of the members of the couple might feel like the therapist was lying to them or enabling something like an affair. It can lead to a sense of deep betrayal and ruin the marriage and all future attempts at counseling. I understand your concern, but this therapist is behaving professionally. If you need to keep secrets from your spouse, you should find a separate counselor or psychologist. Many couples counselors recommend that each of their patients seek our an individual counselor in addition to couples counseling, and they will often refuse to provide individual counseling because conflicts of interest can emerge. I hope this makes more sense. She's doing the right thing here, in my opinion. If you have any friends who are professional psychologists or counselors, I recommend you ask them about this.
Andrew Klem i see an individual AND a couples therapist. I also have friends who are professiknal counselors. They do NOT behave this way. It is unprofessional at best. I showed it to a counselor and she said it was unprofessional also. So are you going to tell me next that i see the wrong kind of counselor? Its not secrets. Its doctor/patient confidentiality. HIPPA. Look it up.
What if she repeats something in a session and when its over the guy or girl beats the hell out of the other and/or kills them? This kind of thing happens. It would all lead back to her.
AJ F except she repeated something that was told to her in confidence and got someone killed. So the issue is not the abusive relationship. Its the counselor repeating something she shouldnt have to an abuser. Ive had the shit beat out of me for someone repeating something that i said thinking it would be kept quiet, of course, it wasnt my therapist who repeated it. Why? Because therapists don't do that!

Seems that all hope is gono for us. We can't afford to pay for much needed therapy.
