That ASM always reminds me of hulk 340. Just the same kinda presentation. Think it will be just as valuable someday. Everyone always is drawn to it. Great find.
When you found the Secret Wars books l loved the storyline by Jonathan Hickman and it had one of my favorite artists Esad Ribic. Great combo if you ask me. And great find!
One thing I’ve learned from your channel is to value genuinely enjoying the hobby over getting deals. Go to markets, read books, give gifts make friends, and the deals will be found throughout the enjoyment of the hobby
Same here the 90s was past my childhood but I pick up those master piece books whenever I can. Love jusko. I bought a whole box of the 2099 xmen cards unopened 1 pack shy of a case at a resale store for 20 bucks.
Also not to bang the Spec Drum too loudly but yes I did hear that the Hickman Secret Wars run will get the most references in the Secret Wars movie but instead of using a God Doom to spoil a long run of that Epic Villain in the MCU, I'm hearing there will be a Kang Variant that will create Battle World and call himself The Beyonder which I guess makes sense in the current MCU Timeline
I want to find it in the wild, it's one of the best feelings ever when you find that that you wanted and it's a bonus if you find it for a dollar. :D I like the emotional color spectrum and I've always like orange for the color of greed. :D
Your channel is one of my new favourites. I love watching the digging (wish there was more of it) and the commentary is always great. Your love for all things comics and collectibles is so appreciated! All the best, cheers!
Thank you so much! I always have more digging footage but I cut it for time. Otherwise every video would be an hour of long boxes… which I guess some people probably wouldn’t mind!
It’s the vicarious experience; As comic collectors there’s nothing better than going there long boxes blindly and the vids give us that opportunity (once removed). Anyway, keep up the nerd work. Cheers!
Such an awesome selection at that market. Started off with Archie books, then I caught some Unknown Soldier (truly an underrated character), and that stack of Charleton horror. Great grabs in your haul, Mike! Getting those Secret Wars books at that price was a steal.
I love the emotional spectrum rings of the other corps and the characters that wield them !? I'm a big GL fan anyway but the darkest night ,the sinestro corp war ,rise of the red lanterns and the whole tie in runs ?! Also think the spectre lends himself to some great, cool covers ? Plus the link there because hal Jordan was both GL and the spectre at one time
Hi Mike, I almost fogot that you asked for our opinion for Joe Jusko. I am a very big fan of his artwork but especially of his Marvel Masterpieces of 1992. I read comic books since I was little and my dad bought me the first German books of Spider-Man, Fantastic Four and Superman. At this time I was still in Kindergarten and could not read so my dad used to read the stories to me. At the late 80´s / early 90´s almost all publishers stopped publishing German super hero comics and so I started to read the US comics and I really got into collecting in 1992. At this time I could order the titles at my lcs and he provided us with the previews magazine where we could place our orders. At this time I discovered the trading cards. My first set was the Jim Lee X-Men set but my second trading cards set was the Marvel Masterpieces from 1992. At this time my father used to go with me to my lcs and he talked to the owner who was about the age of my father then. My father read titles like Tarzan and Prince Valiant. He saw a complete unopened box of this Marvel Masterpieces and he asked me if I would like some packs. I would have been very happy with some packs but instead he bought the whole box for me for approx. 100,00 Deutsche Mark in 1992. I was able to get a complete set out of this box and 3 special cards (Hulk vs. Thing, Spider-Man vs. Venom and Captain America vs. Red Skull). I instantly fell in love with the artwork of Joe Jusko. My dad passed away three years ago and his loss still hurts but when I see those Marvel Masterpieces of 1992 a lot of happy memories come back to me from a time my dad was still alive. So you see, I don´t just like Joe Jusko I love his work because I am very emotionally attached to it.
I am always amazed at what other people can find in the wild! Or let me rephrase that find any comics in the wild. You just explained the influence of the Marvel Masterpiece cards. Kids in the 90's learned about other Marvel characters, their origins and their powers through these cards. For me in the 80's, it was the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe. You learn something new every day.
It wouldn't be a flea market, convention or collectors' fair without Funkos these days. Geoff Johns is a masterful writer and, although I wasn't a Green Lantern reader at the time, I thought Blackest Night was such an awesome concept so well executed that I bought the core miniseries and many of the connected GL issues plus the one-off issues of titles that had been long cancelled like Starman. Getting the Secret Wars issues plus the FCBD #0: good move.
Speaking of the comic art, that's the proverbial mixed bag of nuts(as I think you like to say sometimes). More often than not we see the hotter titles besieged by the variant covers that push the artwork more than the stories & that makes it harder to keep those titles affordable! When that happens I then see some of the issues on my subscriptions getting lost in the mail, when the reality is that they were never sent to begin with. That also happens with the spec books almost all of the time...
Secret Wars is a lot of fun, Hickman is a masterful comic book writer. Love his stuff, all of the Avengers/New Avengers, and the "Infinity" event leading up to Secret Wars was stellar. New book of his, Ultimate Invasion #1, was also a great read. Many channels I follow aren't as into reading modern books as I am, but I think Hickman puts out superb stories. Dawn of DC has also been a lot fun.
Hey I'm a fan of the 2015 secret wars too,it's just so nick fury ? He's such a sneaky SOB,lol, great writing with Luke and Jessica especially, all the others were well fitted into their own roles too ? I have the tp collected edition though
Hi Mike, as long as you find some books for your collection the way to the flea market is never a waste of time. Even if you found just a few books this time, that´s better than no books at all. I would have grabbed this nice trading card set from Marvel Universe. Get well, soon.
I have the same GL series issue 37 with a beautiful red lanterns cover. The spectrum lanterns started off as a great concept but ended in a terrible subplot.
Good afternoon Michael Great show as always, I hope you have got rid of that cold! I loved the look at that flea market, and I am with Caleb. I was hoping you might have picked some of those Charlton Horror, the often featured Joe Staton and Steve Ditko and Tom Sutton art ,They are really starting to go off the chart over here. Also agree with Caleb on the Unknow Soldier, always enjoyed that read. But you were hunting for yourself and got exactly what you wanted for $27.00 so great work. Some of the New Mutants issues looked to be very over the top on pricing, 6700 comic fans looking over your shoulder. Np pressure/\? Cheers Al The Goldkeyfourcolorkidownunda
That’s very interesting that those Charlton horror books are becoming popular over here there. I think they are very cool and I’m always surprised they aren’t more desirable here. And yes I think it’s funny I have all these people “looking over my shoulder” but I don’t really think about it and just get what I want at the time. I appreciate everyone’s interest though and maybe I’ll give those books I passed up another look in the future based on people’s recommendations!
@@lunchmoneycomics I think everybody is watching youtube content and thinking I want some of that. Charlton were big sellers on our Comic racks, I always passed them over for the Marvel of course. Australia did have a big reprint history 68-100 pages of DC marvel and Charlton all in great Black and Black and white. The big prize for Everybody nowadays is our Newton comic editions with poster Cheers Al
Like you am mainly a Marvel collector still learning DC, only DC I collect is mainly Batman & Harley Quinn. Spectre sounds interesting will check into him, nice adds btw, didn’t care for the 2nd Secret Wars as good as the original series
Did your heart flutter like minded when that new mutants 97 popped up thinking it was a first print and not the re-print? I thought you found an amazing book only to see the Reprint markings.
I live in Hawaii. It’s an inconvenient for me to buy and sell comics due to shipping. I get more value deals buying used trade paperbacks modern books here.
Love your channel mate, my son is autistic and loves marvel so I started getting him some comics and he loves reading them with me. I saw you were always recommending x men so I started getting uncanny x men and I have to say we’re both hooked 😂 so thank you for that and keep smashing it 👍
That makes me so happy! I’m glad you two are enjoying some comics together, it’s one of the things I love sharing with my son as well. Thanks for the great comment, you made my day!
You always find something cool. So Mike, a little off topic...I have some older books I want cleaned and pressed. Is there anyone you'd recommend here in the Northeast? Trying to avoid the big companies or shipping them too far.
Love the channel man! I collect mostly action figures.. getting back into comics haven’t collected since I was a kid . What comics would you say would be good starter comics to get a collection going
@@lunchmoneycomics the Masterpiece Series was too expensive for me back in the day for the first couple of years. I didn't get the chance to own that many of them until the 1994 Series done by the Hildebrandts. I'm still hoping to someday come across some of the 1996 Set though by Boris & Julie. Such a high value and low population set!!
You know no one really reads these but me. I literally said right in the video the SS shouldn’t be worth more than a few dollars and I only bought it to make the PSA that paying more for it is foolish. And I didn’t get the SW because of spec at all, it got it because it’s a great series and they were $1 each, when I finish the set I’ll give it to my son.

The idea of different colors Lanterns is way cool..
Cool 'lantern types' run down regarding those DC Green Lantern comics!
Those Ross covers on Secret Wars is what caught my attention when they first came out.

I loved hearing the crinkly sound of the bags
I like the different oaths they have. They all are cool.
Great score on those Secret Wars comics. That run is a great read
Great deal on those comics. I wish there were more Flea Markets in my area but I do have some Antique stores to go to. Keep up the Hunt!!! 😎
