I have enjoyed coming along with you as you have been scratching out a living there in th outback. Your practically, " A Natural," at narrating th content of your filming efforts. Cracking video Steve! Very enjoyable. Great to you enjoying the wildlife and educating us along the way. Some nice bits of yellow. I've gotta plan a trip over that side some day. Thanks for the upload, Cheers Daz
Great video Steve! I enjoyed all the content. Especially the wildlife. Most guys just show off their gold, but you went the extra mile to produce an excellent video.
Thanks, the lightning and thunder out there can be really spectacular at times and often without any rain at all. Dry strikes can also sometimes be hazardous causing bush fires.
😅 I'm happy that that your trip had a good success with prospecting in WA out back. It is good to see how well your GPX has performed .Well done and happy prospecting.
Thanks, I was planning on heading out west again soon but now with the corona virus and everything on lockdown I'm not sure if I'll be able to get there this season, still hoping though. Cheers.
Great video, good job with just your phone. Gold finds WOW! Using a potato for a crucible and borax for flux so simple and inexpensive; I will give it a try. Thanks.
Thanks, yeah there,s some fascinating wildlife out there and it all adds to the adventure. My next video will show some of the larger members of wildlife.
hi steve have watched a number of your gold videos and enjoyed all of them hopefully ill get back to WA to do a bit of the same .i didnt realise you were a kiwi until i saw your video on 1080 my cobber a possum hunter in the late 70ts saw the total destruction of a kiwi colony near kahurangi light house by one of the first 1080 drops in that area . he told me they were so vocal it was hard to sleep at night but within three days he never heard another peep . so much for 1080 protecting our wild life
Hi Williaim, yeah that 1080 has really done a lot of damage in NZ. We've seen some awful sights over the years and unfortunately it dosen't look like ending any time soon either. They're using more every year and Kiwi are disappearing at an alarming rate. That story you said about the possum hunter sounds like many others we've heard across the country and it's so tragic. The departments just don't seem to care and of course they never go into the bush so they don't even now whats happening out there.
Loved it! thank you nice to see you on a different subject matter. Still as passionate about what your doing as ever . Would make a great series if only we had gold like that in NZ. Cheers
Thanks. Yeah I agree it would make a great series, if only a tv station was interested. I believe there is still some good gold in NZ but as far as I'm aware the country is mostly tied up with either private land or DOC administered land and their regulations make it extremely difficult or too costly.
Fantastic information. Amazing you find nuggets practically on top of the ground in Australia ! And the gold is bigger and shinier than in Calif.. Loved the critter information..thanks...and that was the biggest nugget I've ever seen come out of the ground...WoW!!
Hi Steve, I'm really enjoying all your videos. Thanks for sharing. Question : in this video we're you out bush the whole time? How long were you out? I'd be like you and enjoy the solitude and nature 💚
Hi, I usually like to go outback for a few months at a time as I did on this trip also. I can generally have enough food and water to last me for 3 weeks then I have to head to the nearest town to stock up again to last another 3 weeks and so on. I don't have a caravan or trailer so I'm a bit limited as to how much I can carry at a time. I just sleep in the vehicle as well. Unfortunately i don't film everything I find or all of the encounters I have as I don't always have my phone with me but it's nice to record some of it 😁. If you happen to have seen my recent trip to North Queensland you'll notice a completely different terrain which was quite challenging at times but a nice change of scenery and well worth it. Cheers 😃👍.
Sir this is a tremendous production. Thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of this. Really good that you respect nature and the environment. Loved the melting and weigh in at the end. Well deserved gold and excellent filming. I would dearly love to get some time of work and go dry panning and dry blowing out there as I don't own a detector. Torn between WA outback and NZ. Thanks so much for sharing. Just awesome 👍

Great video Steve, WA is a long way from Tuai and Lake Waikaremoana. I was detecting in WA in May/June around the Cue area so must have missed you by a few weeks. Found a few small nuggets but nothing like the big one on your video - beautiful piece. Really enjoy seeing all the other interesting things on your videos - The Eye of the Hunter is evident.
Love your information on local scenery and animals and small gold bits your finding. Is it very dangerous to be out there on your own. Your a brave man regardless.
Excellent video. I met an Aussie man in Phnom Penh Cambodia in January of this year. We were talking about metal detecting. He told me used to do what you are doing now. He stopped because he is getting up in age and because of people robbing gold. Hope you never had to deal with those sorts of people.
I'm not quite sure what you mean as far as a trial period, but in Australia anyone can go metal detecting for gold as long as you have a fossicking license or miners right which costs around 30 dollars. Then you have to find out from the mines department where you're legally allowed to fossick and any relevant rules and regulations. And make sure not to cross onto someone else's lease or private land.
Yeah it certainly takes a lot of dedication, never as easy as it looks on film. Would be easy to give up at times during dry spells of finding nothing.
Great film Steve! Happy to see you finally got some good gold! Remember when I met you in Leonora caravan park? You had a few tuff weeks without any gold. How long were you out in the Bush? I won't forget your stories from hitchhiking in Alaska! 👍
Hi sorry about the late reply, I only just recently checked the comments. I had someone else load the clip onto utube so I don't get the notifications when a comment comes in. Hi Steve love the vid, matey you were saying you drove across from Harvey Bay , if you don't mind what did your fuel bill run at, for the trip over ? i will do the trip over soon so just wondering. cheers .
My apologies for the late reply, off hand I think it was around $1500 each way with some extra running around included. At the moment fuel is quite cheap so would less, if it wasn't for the corona lockdown preventing travel. Some of the more remote places it got quite expensive so carrying extra fuel containers is a good idea. Cheers and good luck.
Wow Steve loved this clip almost as much as your Roaring Dvds. Please keep whacking your clips on or better still come home and make some hunting clips and put them on the tube. Thank's Al, later in the vid you get a better look at it , one thing it works well . For Steve anyway.

Judging by the rough texture of your nuggets, you must be very near the hardrock vein source. If it is not eroded away completely, just leaving the gold in situ. That old shaft is also excellent evidence of a possible vein. Good luck and great video, by the way.
What a great video! Love the wildlife, thanks for sharing. I wish was there. I have a new detector, but they say it's not safe to use here in Mindanao Philippines.
Steve, what a great video, thanks. I am in Northern Wi in the USA. I do a lot of detecting mostly for archaic copper artifacts which is the coolest thing we have in this area, no gold. I am planning on a trip to Australia next year, we have (family lives in GoldCoast) and would love to get out for some different type of detecting. Any chance you’re open to an outing?
Hi Marty, at this stage I'm not actually living full time in Australia so I'm only there some of the time and mostly in Western Australia while I'm there but there is lots of people detecting all over Aussie so its worth bringing your detector for sure, old coins and relics are possible to find even if not gold.
great show mate , do you know the area or how do you find were to go and that you are not on any ones ground mate i new to detecting and only got a monster 1000 , is it any good to use in that sort of area $$$ determan me getting the monster , cheers mate
Sorry about the late reply. I had never been over in WA previously so it was just all new country at the time. The first thing was to go straight to the mines department and get 'miners right' and find out all the regulations etc. Its pretty daunting at first when you look at the maps and see how many mining and prospecting leases there are all over the state. But the staff are very helpful and show you where you can and can't go. Downloading an app like the 'happy prospector' works by satellite and tells you where you are positioned in regards to live leases etc so you can see where not to go. As far as the type of detector I'm not really familiar with that one but I'm sure it will do the job, good luck cheers.
@@stevegraf9276 Hi Steve thanks alot for the info mate i nomaly just go high banking in ne vic i have a cheapo detector a monster 1000 but haven't found any gold with it yet, ide need a better detector if i was to go to wa i think mine wouldn't be the best there cheers mate
Yeah I sure do. Always run the detector over and in the hole before filling it in. Sometimes I'll even rake the area of sticks and rocks in case of small bits that could be easily missed. Strangely I've personally only found more than one piece in a hole only twice. Which is a bit strange considering some people have found multiple pieces from the same spot. I have at times found several bits close to each other but just not right on top of each other. My next video out soon shows a patch where I found over 80 pieces from one small area.
@@stevegraf9276 Thanks for your reply the reason i asked you that question is that i go metal detecting in Scotland and detecting over a previous dug hole have many times found artefacts and coins left by the previous person that failed to check out the hole, will lookout for your next video Steve good luck.

Do you check the ground again once you have found the first target to make sure you get all the gold in the hole
@@stevegraf9276 Thanks for your reply the reason i asked you that question is that i go metal detecting in Scotland and detecting
over a previous dug hole have many times found artefacts and coins left by the previous person that failed to check
out the hole, will lookout for your next video Steve good luck.
is there a detector out there that only responds on gold? i gues gold has his own frequenty so it must be possible?
Great show!
Well done ,hope you make more . subbed

Loved your video. You are dillegent in your gold hunt. I would love to do a hunt with you but Im quite afraid of the dangerous creatures. lol It does look like fun but wouldnt do it alone. I live in eastern part of the USA. Good luck on your ventures. Be safe.😊
