Hi mate new subscriber here after watching a few of your vids, i watched some of your vids many years ago and always remembered your channel and forgot to subscribe back then, well i found your channel again and very happy now. Your palmer river trips are my favourite because of the historical past but w.a is always a good producer for metal detecting. Im about to purchase an sdc2300 ive been saving for years for and hope to get into some virgin spots in Queensland im in the process of making it happen now thankyou yout an inspiration to many and me.
This is just as exciting as those big gold mining shows and I like that u actually share your excitement unlike those weird channels that dig in silence. Hard to believe they’re real when they find massive nuggets and have no reaction lol. Good job on ur finds! Thanks for sharing 🙂
Thanks for that. And I totally agree with you about those weird videos that have no emotions. Because anyone that has ever searched for gold (professional or amateur) would literally be jumping up and down with joy at some of those massive chunks they supposedly find, if they were actually real. They try to make out that its all very secretive so that no one finds out who or where they are. But in reality if the area was genuinely as loaded in large gold nuggets as they constantly portray in their many clips around the same location then of course they would be very rich by now and the last thing they'd do is film it and put it on utube where any locals would soon work out where it was, lol.
thought the same thing myself. no one can dig out a nugget bigger than your hand, and then show no emotion. And then dig up another huge nugget again and again like it's no big deal. Just doesn't happen! Just one is a once in a lifetime event!
And those fake prospectors like you talk about, find nuggets of 0.5-1-2 kg and they still bother to put an affiliate link to make a commission from a $200 metal detector
Sir I thoroughly enjoyed this production also. Beautifully filmed and well deserved gold. Really appreciate your respect for nature. You are a good honest prospector. Thanks heaps for sharing 👍
Poisoning animals? What kind of person would do that and sleep at night? How can a person create agony, pain, suffering and death and then feel any joy whatsoever in life afterwards with the memory of their heinous actions?
I totally agree with you. The really extraordinary thing that most of the world is unaware of, is that New Zealand is by far the biggest user of this poison. Around 85% of world production goes to NZ. Most countries have banned it outright due to its cruel and broad spectrum killing power. But unfortunately many tons of poisoned pellets are dropped from helicopters all over National parks and forests through out NZ every year. Around a million hectares of land can be aerially dropped in just one year alone. They claim they are targeting posssum's and rats but of course as you can imagine with the mass indiscriminate nature of what they are doing the unintended consequences are huge. Large numbers of native birds have been poisoned through both direct and secondary poisoning, also lots of cases of farm dogs and peoples pets, even cattle, sheep, horses etc. Even freshwater crayfish eat the baits, as pellets are dropped directly into waterways throughout the forests. The whole process is run by government departments and the public get absolutely no say in what happens. So unfortunately despite all the years of protests ,evidence and opposition against it, the policy makers continue to ignore everyone and carry on doing it regardless.

I don't normally watch a video from start to end when it's this long, but I really love this video. I especially love the nature part of your video. I live in the UK and I have a GPX 5000, that I use to find ancient relics and I have actually found gold with it 😮 I hope you make more videos like this one because I love to put nature into my videos, Cleggy.
Thanks Cleggy, Yeah the wildlife and scenery adds so much more to the whole experience and even with the risks of snakes etc it all adds to the adventure. I realise the clip is longer than most on utube but I decided to just hope its got enough interest to hold peoples attention for the duration, lol. It must be fascinating looking for relics in the UK with so much incredible history, Unfortunately we don't have any of the real ancient artifacts over here, its all a bit younger but still a big buzz finding old coins etc. Good luck to you, I hope you find a bag of old Roman gold coins or such, cheers.
Hi, I think Titanium is more of a silvery colour but interesting thought though and I still haven't confirmed exactly what it is yet so anything's possible. Cheers.
Awesome trip and great gold! Loved your video with the view of nature included. If you started up guided tours, I'm in! Stay safe and watch out for the covid snake!
I don't usually take the time to watch a video through to the end but this video was good enough to keep me glued to the screen for more than an hour. Thanks Steve.

I love Australia, Traveled there a couple times with the USN, And several times with my job after that. Country is awesome and the people are great. Super friendly. Great video, Steve. you certainly detected some nice gold, rewarded for a lot of effort you no doubt put in. Ha Ha yeah there's certainly plenty of venomous creatures in the land of Aus but as you say its worth the risk when there's gold out there and generally I think there's still more chance of being killed in a car accident. At least that's what I tell myself. Cheers.
Awesome I loved watching your old video and was wondering if you were still doing prospecting I’m from Brisbane and I’m a keen prospector I also visit Hervey Bay a lot
Thanks, I'm hoping to get out there later this year again but its all a bit uncertain at this stage with the lockdown etc. There's no doubt some good gold still to be found in Queensland too I imagine, especially up north but I think its mainly all private stations up there so its probably about who you know.
@@stevegraf9276 Yes still plenty of gold in Queensland plenty of gold everywhere if you know where to look . I was in Vic early on in the year for a holiday found gold but had to cut it short and come home back to Brisbane because of the lockdown . I’m keen to head up north when the time is right are you still stuck in Queensland Regards Mitch
@@mitchellpaterson7062 I'm actually stuck in NZ at the moment. The lockdown here has been really tight. Nothing has been open except supermarkets for food and you've only been allowed to walk in your immediate vicinity, nothing else except essential services is allowed. Very frustrating.
Hello from Russia! Wonderful and inspiring video! Great work done, you make it better with an old samsung, than others with good cameras)) I'm really curious how much time in general you spent prospecting and finding all the nuggets you filmed?? Subscribed, wish you Luck and more free time to make such videos!
Hi thanks for that. I'm generally out there for many weeks at a time and usually like to go as remote as possible to try and get away from other people. I also tend to be very persistent and can often go for days at a time without success before striking something, so it does require a certain amount of patience, but its all worth it when you see a piece of gold laying in the dirt in front of you. It can also be very frustrating at times when there's an area full of old rusty junk metal etc, left from the old miners 100 years ago and believe me there's plenty of spots like that around. Of course I don't film all the gold I find either , a lot of the time I just don't carry my phone with me while prospecting. Cheers.
You really have amazing videos. I really enjoy the way you tell about the reptiles and animals. I really love you videos, thanks for sharing. I'm from the US, but retired in the Philippines.
I haven't prospected for some time now dew to an injury. You have bought great memories back and I would love to get out again. I have not found gold like that. Your description is very professional and clear as well. Loved watching. From Melbourne.
I use a mine lab gpx 5000 its a pulse induction. I've been very happy with it's performance on the gold fields and works well in a lot of ground types but there is still the odd patch of ground that can be almost undetectable due to the high mineralisation. Apparently the 7000 is even better for depth but a lot more expensive and a bit heavier too so I'm told.
Absolutely marvelous! What beautiful gold nuggets! You've done an excellent job of filming/editing your prospecting adventures! Keep up the good entertaining and honest work. Much appreciated to watch from here in British Columbia Canada!
Hi Steve, well done on your finds and thank you a lot for putting this wonderful film together. Keep well and Stay Safe, a fellow Steve :)
Thanks Stephen, glad you enjoyed. I was planning on being back out on the gold fields now but this covid 19 has had all the borders closed so hoping things get back to some sort of normality before too long, cheers.
I enjoyed that. I wish I was there with you. I'm watching from Satellite Beach Florida, USA There's nothing around here li!e that. Thank You, 👍 and subscribed. BK
Thanks for your excellent video. Great shots of WA and the wildlife and mineral potential. Really enjoyed it. Keep up the good work. Cheers, happy prospecting.
Yes that is correct. So far I haven't had any strikes to see if they actually work but I'm sure they'll at least be better than nothing if the situation arises. And I've been told that they do work so that's encouraging at least lol, especially when I'm by myself so there's no one else to get help if needed. I don't generally come across a lot of snakes but when I do they are often quite close and sometimes right at my feet amongst the leaves and sticks so it pays to have the extra precaution.
Hi Joe, I do it very basically and only take what I need and not much extra. I removed the rear seats out of my vehicle and made a bed that fits nicely in the back which gives me storage space underneath for food etc. Its all fairly cramped but still works ok for one person, besides if it was too comfortable I may not want to get out of bed so early in the mornings, lol. That way I don't need a tent. I have a gas cooker for cooking and ration my food and water per day so that I can last for up to three weeks at a time before having to go somewhere to top up. I generally use approximately 3 liters of water per day and carry three 25 litre containers. My vehicle has two fuel tanks so I don't need to carry extra fuel containers, although it would still be a good idea. I tend to eat a lot of canned and dried food while outback. I carry a spare heavy duty battery for the vehicle which saved me last trip as I got a flat one after camping in one spot for a few days without running the vehicle to charge it. I have an inside light and I charge the detector battery off the car battery also. I would strongly suggest having a locator beacon with you, I don't have one but I probably should. I also carry a few tools in case of a breakdown, including spare fan belts and hoses. As you can imagine there's not a lot of spare room left after everything is in. Much more comfortable if you have a caravan or camper as most people seem to out there, but it still does the job.
Every state in Australia has different regulations so its important to check with the mines department as to the rules before commencing prospecting. But anyone can do it as long as they get the necessary permit etc and only go on crown land, or if they get permission to go elsewhere.
Hi Joe, unfortunately I haven't been out for a while due to all the coved lock downs etc, but you should have some handy spots down there in Victoria I would imagine, although I guess it's pretty difficult to find area's that haven't already been all worked out over the years. I'm hoping all the borders will be open before winter next year so I can head away again and search for new ground but who knows at this stage. Good luck to you I hope you find a good spot, cheers.
I tend to travel around quite a bit so there are quite a few different locations. Mostly it's well north of Kalgoorlie, but anywhere from there to Leonora and right up to Meekatharra. But the main thing is to check with the mines department first to see where you can legally go because there are literally hundreds of live prospecting and mining leases all over the state and you don't want to accidently go on someone's lease because apart from it being illegal they almost certainly won't take kindly to it. I've found the staff at the mines departments to be really friendly and helpful.
First time watching and learning. Just wondering Steve, what do you mean that a couple were right near the source? I know about gold veins but they're deeper in the ground. What's a good vid to watch to know/learn? Tia.
Hi, the reason I would suggest that those particular pieces were not far from the source is due to their rough textured shape. Generally the more prickly and course they are means they haven't travelled far from their original place of formation, or at least from where they broke away from a possible host rock like maybe quartz or ironstone, perhaps a reef. Gold is relatively soft in terms of a metal, so the further it travels the smoother it gets as it rolls and grinds amongst the gravel. So that's why gold found in streams and rivers is usually very worn down, smooth and clean. It may have travelled a long way down a water course before finally stopping in a low point or crevice. Every prospector and miner hopes to find the source of where a deposit of gold came from as it may still contain a large amount of gold (the mother load). In my particular case however I didn't find it unfortunately. It's possible that there may have been more down deep beyond my detector range but regulations restrict me from going too deep unless I have a mining lease which I don't have. I can't suggest a video to watch and learn about it though because I haven't really watched any, but there's bound to be some good clips on utube explaining things in detail. Cheers.
Thanks' it probably seems like there's gold all over the place but believe me there's still plenty of days of finding nothing as well. But it certainly is exciting when you find a new patch though.

Q: I see you where a wraparound your calf of your leg, between knee and ankles. Is that to protect you from snake strikes bites?
Yes that is correct. So far I haven't had any strikes to see if they actually work but I'm sure they'll at least be better than nothing if the situation arises. And I've been told that they do work so that's encouraging at least lol, especially when I'm by myself so there's no one else to get help if needed. I don't generally come across a lot of snakes but when I do they are often quite close and sometimes right at my feet amongst the leaves and sticks so it pays to have the extra precaution.

Hi Steve, what sort of in car camping gear do you need for survival and how many litres of water do you require per day?
Very beautiful. One question requires authorization to search for gold in Australia?
Every state in Australia has different regulations so its important to check with the mines department as to the rules before commencing prospecting. But anyone can do it as long as they get the necessary permit etc and only go on crown land, or if they get permission to go elsewhere.
Bloody fantastic result from a lot of hard work....thanks for sharing....from Cornwall in the UK
Thanks cheers.
Great work...can you point me in the right direction..im from Victoria.....chers
Love the content, but also love to know what area of WA you are in. Would love to try myself.
Wow so much interesting.. Give me some LOL
Cheers.
@@stevegraf9276 Awesome, thank you for explaining that to me.
Dude I'm jealous. You are finding major nuggets all day long! Wow.
Thanks' it probably seems like there's gold all over the place but believe me there's still plenty of days of finding nothing as well. But it certainly is exciting when you find a new patch though.
he sounds like Murray from flight of the Concordes :)
Yeah your comment at the end is spot on about those big fake nugget channels they doing for UA-cam views
Yeah and its a shame cause a lot of people get sucked in by them, I notice they sometimes get millions of views.
