Wow! That was the best video I've watched in a while! The sizes he was talking about just blew me away! I get excited over a 1gram piece these days even a half gram piece to be pulling consistent ounce plus bits must have been the best feeling in the world! Love your work, cheers Lee.
I really could listen to your stories all day long. I love bumping into older folk out bush that have been looking for gold since their younger days, always makes for some great stories.
This video is the stuff of legends and the ultimate dream for all us prospectors. This definitely gives us a glimpse of what it must have been like in the traditional days of the 1850s gold rush. I mean 80 ounces I’d settle for a 1 ounce nugget mate !!! Imagine in today’s gold value it would be in the hundreds of thousands. Quite incredible really, the stuff of legend. It’s still out there to be found in the off beat places and the obvious one’s to. There are many buried rivers or deep leads yet to be discovered and to those who would dare to try the prize could be astronomical in nature !!! Awesome stuff thanks
Thank so much for your reply.❤Yes I do believe there is much gold to be found.there seems to be three distinct river systems.the deep leads wich many were snuffed out due to being covered with lava flows.then you got the present river systems too But these high level rivers of ancient times are the oldest.there is traces of this right across smythesdale.scarsdale and Linton fields.they are higher on the slopes and hills are fair game for detecting as there within our reach.ive found lots of these in this area with no results but would recommend to go for them.i really do hope my experience I've shared gets some great results for all prospectors .thanking you. Cheers Greg
Half way through watching this, I got keen and went out for a swing, 30 mins in, bam 5.9g nugget, bloody rippa, loved the vid and thanks for the inspiration and luck. Watching the second half now👍👌🇦🇺
It is amazing the old timers missed that spot, I thought they scoured the whole area. What a legend and thanks for bringing the story to the screen. Forever immortalised, good on you for recording this piece of Aussie history 👏 👌 👍 ❤it 😊 Regards Andy PPA
Loved your story mate ... Bloody good on ya's !!! I'm 54 years old and have been prospecting for a living since I was 19 I've been most fortunate to enjoy a life doing what I love ... out In the bush following the 'Old timers' searching for gold. Love nothing more than to be out in the hills playing modern day pioneer 😊 Thanks so much for sharing your story mate ... It's 'Gold'😉👍
I'll look forward to that drink Greg😅 it's heating up in the North, our wet season, my off season, fast approaching. The utes loaded, so off again while it's still possible .... One of these 'off season's' I may very well fly south ... 'to cool the heels, and wash down some dust' As you well know mate, 'a miners Rich's change on the turn of a shovel' So it's possible, we may meet to share that drink, and reminisce over a tale or two' mate 😉👍

What a treasure trove of wisdom and insight, simply but brilliantly told, and showing such personal family stories. Thank you, Michelle, for sharing his magnificent story, first-hand McAllan, such a gifted, natural storyteller, you had not a need for a word yourself whatever, magnificent! You'd be as chuffed as a family of Ballarat choughs, as a documentary film maker, 10/10! Gabi of Prospect Hill, Narre Warren.

Thanks for sharing your family experience Greg. I still remember my uncle finding a specie back in the early eighties. It was the size of a soccer ball. That’s why I started detecting 5 years ago. I love detecting out in the bush I don’t think of anything. Really good for the mind.
Thats awesome.very few people will ever find a 32 oz piece too.we are both very fortunate.im so glad you enjoyed our story.there is another 2 maybe three more vids comming soon.hope you enjoy these also.Cheers Greg 😂🙂👍🏼
@gregoryallan1137 yes we are blessed , was an amazing experience. About 2 meters away was an 8oz ,about a meter from that a 5.5oz, down the slope about 3meters 2oz , about 4meters up from the 32 a 20g, and off to the side up the slope a 5oz about 15meters. But it dried up quickly. Wish I held on to it with today's gold prices.
Thanks for sharing your story Greg, ill never forget the information about gold prospecting you freely shared with me when we worked together in Heathcote 30 years ago and now everyone gets to share your knowledge too. Looking forward to more episodes. Cheers Ken

Was about 240oz.×$4000 an oz.what a pity the gold price then was $500 -$600 an oz.at today's price it would be around $960.000.back then it was about $255.000😭😭😭😭
