onemanarmy yeah i kinda went full on with mine. Im actually gonna build a lc70 killer body land cruiser for the trx4 so i will have 2 bodies for this rig. Hope it fits
CRAWLING NATION thanks bud much appreciated. You can’t beat the TRX4’s for their modifiability and awesomeness out of the box. In most cases they actually trump crawlers like the vanquish vs4-10 pro and ultra which cost almost double (“Without Electronics”) except maybe the vanquish’s low cg which traxxas bodies are definitely “NOT”.
Looks really good. Great job. Finally got my grey one and adding all kinds of great performance parts and scale parts too. In fact I'm digging it so much that I don't want it to get beat up and dirty so I might just have to have this one remain as a bitchy carpet queen, LOL..
Thank you for sharing the journey. I have just got mine a love it. It came with the blue body and I have just received the orange body and light Kit. I am doing my upgrade research and found your video very helpful. What are you thinking for the interior. I have not found anything I would want to use yet and will look forward to your video.
Matthew Mack thanks Matthew. I really appreciate your comments and it’s awesome you have been able to source an orange body. Doing upgrades are great to do on the trx4 as there are heaps of upgrades out there from companies like “YR”, Samix, & GPM just to name a few. Most professional crawlers will tell you to get the tyres and wheels out of the way first then the electrics. But you do it at your own pace with what you’re comfortable with. My one unfortunately for me has honestly cost me $4500 aud incl 2 sets of shocks that i made a mistake with and also including the trx4 itself, but i’m very happy with how it’s turned out. The only things i need to upgrade now are all the alloy upgrades underneath ie: the portals & drive shafts & in answer to your question the interior. Which i am still looking for something that suits my style. I’m happy to answer any questions you may have so pls ask if you have any more questions Thanks once again for your support. Keep safe bud and cheers. 😀👍✌️
@@mikesrcreviewchannel3685 Thanks Mike your Rig looks great. So far the quality and detail of the interiors I have seen have not inspired me. Thank you for the guidance and offer of help. Until then I look forward to seeing your next mods.
Hi there I'm Rob, I'd like to tell you about my absima sherpa cr3.4 which also has 2 speeds with diff locks back and front also portal axles too and it's half the price of the Traxxas. Ho and the electrics are better than the Traxxas too, and it's to scale as well you need to have a look at it my friend.
Hello Rob yes I already know about the absima Sherpa. I tried buying one 3 times but no stock available and they are only available In Europe for some reason. I am in Australia and I have called almost all the hobby stores australia wide and they cannot get any stock at all. I have also moved on from Traxxas and I have purchased 2 RC4WD Gelande 2 crawlers from America. 1 BJ40 Landcruiser and 1 D90 Lamdrover
Hello. Thanks for watching. No i did not install retaining bolts. The screws hold it into place just fine as long as you pre drill the hole in the correct drill bit size “1mm” the screw has enough resistance from screwing into the lexan.
Did you have to do anything to get the proline rock shooters to work with the portals? Im considering buying a set but trying to figure out what i need to do to make them fit.
Hello there. In answer to your question “No” I didn’t need to modify or do anything to make the pro-line shooters fit. They’re actually a perfect fit for the TRX4 in terms of the offset they come with out of the box. They’re a little on the light side as they are “as the tittle suggests” (Composite) meaning the outside face is made from alloy and the runner ring and everything else is plastic. “Very strong and flexible plastic at that” All I did to counter that was to put Lead weights I purchased from my local tire centre who sold me the lead weights you can stick on for wheel balancing. They work the best as they can form a circle to mount and stick onto the inner ring. All up they are very nice wheels but because of the name brand (Pro-Line) they are fairly expensive.
@@mikesrcreviewchannel3685 Thanks for the reply! I'm looking for a very specific look for a more factory american truck look and these fit very closely to what I had in mind. I agree, the price is a bit high, but I'm sure that a full metal version would be even worse.
@@SteFFy7469 yes if Pro-Line started to make a set of full metal BeadLock wheels they almost definitely would be more expensive. However I don’t think that is the only reason proline went composite, I think it is also to cater for the people who do Comps with their rigs. Most of the rock crawlers I have seen these wheels being used on are competition rigs where every micron of a gram matters and makes a difference in the overall performance of their rigs. I on the other hand was disappointed when I received them in the mail and upon opening the package found them to be half plastic “especially after paying so much for them. As the saying goes though “Don’t criticise the cuisine before it’s served” because when I was mounting my PiTBull Braven Berserker Tires on therm and also the The Proline BF Goodrich Km3 1.9”x4.75” tires I was amazed at how easily they were to fit. It took literally 2-3 mins max per wheel and tire whereas my other set of wheels take absolutely ages upon ages to put tires on them so it deters me from changing tires but on the proline’s it’s a breeze and I don’t mind changing the tires around every so often
Looks really good! I was actually debating between the Axial SCX 10-3 and the TRX-4. I chose the TRX-4 for the same reasons you did... Locking diffs and 2 speeds. I DEFINITELY knew I wanted a portal axle truck so that narrowed down the options. How do you like that Yeah Racing bumper?? I really liked it but it got really bad reviews on Amazon and Hobby Town (our local and online shop). I wanted something with ONLY a fairlead hole and NO winch mount but couldn't find one. I am going to run a servo winch rather then the mini realistic ones.
Awesome. Yeah no regrets for me. Nothing wrong with the axial products but this is especially tru now for the scx10.3 they could have released a product that would at least match traxxas with their niceties but they chose to do what they did. Dig fuction or 2 speed? You need to choose. And no unlocking diffs???? Wtf.... I wouldn’t be complaining so much if they were actually a couple of hundred $$$ cheaper than Traxxas TRx4 but they’re not. In some stored in Australia they are actually more expensive. Especially in the case of the SCX10.3 Gladiator. Again... WTF.... anyway people are buying them but I have found so many people getting rid of them after 1-2 months of ownership. I think after the initial blinding attraction to the Gladiator they finally realise that for the price they paid it was just “NOT” worth it.. congrats on your TRX4 Buy. Cheers for watching..
Also to add. Yeah I love the YR bumper. It’s really good quality and doesn’t warrant you re mortgaging your house like you’d need to do if you were to say choose a Cchand product.....
@@mikesrcreviewchannel3685 yeah I feel exactly the same way about the 10.3!! Why does it cost the same or more then a reputable piece of equipment with less features. I have also seen a bunch of reviews saying they had claimed a higher steering angle (I think 48°) but it's actually less then 45. Also dig... Why? I have seen people try to use it but good sticky tires on rough surface won't let it pivot on the rear like it's supposed to. Pretty much making it pointless. I did really like the way the chassis could be shortened or lengthened without needing new links. That part sucks for the TRX-4 because you need a link kit and the Defender TRX-4 has an oddly long WB so not many other bodies fit it. I also really like the Gladiator body. My wife hates it though but it's not her rig 🤣. Well, keep up the great videos! I'll be doing some on my actual channel as well. Going to cover the issues the Traxxas BEC can causes with the diff/shift servos, especially if they were factory installed! 🙄
That’s a sweet ride Mike , I bought one a yr ago and tricked it out I love it I just bought my rack from Yeah Racing it is well worth the price ,where did you find your diamond plate
Charles Smith thanks My friend, I got most of my upgrades from a hobby store in Melbourne Australia. Unfortunately she’s currently outta commission. I am using the TRx4 chassis on my new LC70 Killer Body Land Cruiser Pickup and i’m giving the defender body a bit of a break. I will eventually buy another TRX4 chassis though because the body deserves more than just being a mantle piece. Thanks for watching bud. 👍✌️
Wondering why you didn't buy the gas tank set from RC4wd ? I have the one for the Bronco and it's absolutely sets the truck off! Really enjoyed watching your build!
I ended up selling this body already because I ended up buying a LandCruiser LC70 hard Body and I have now mounted this onto this chassis. I am more into RC4wd brand because of the real scale looks they offer. I now have a D90 RC4WD, FJ40 LandCruiser & a D110 in Rc4WD. I still love my Traxxas chassis but It is now the LandCruiser LC70. Can’t beat the reliability on The TRX4
Yeah i have thought of that bud. I used to fly an align 800 size heli and I do still fly a 60cc gas xcub plane but both are way to big to tow behind this thing. I can get a trailer but it’s finding a helicopter or glider/plane small enough in the same 1/10 scale to have both in proportion.
Just purchase a clear Lexan body Get some Tamia PS paint and paint it the color you want. I got the PS 38 gun metal For my rig and it looks great
I just ordered mine in red with the light kit. I probably wont go as intensive as you did but I plan on doing some scale upgrades.

For the window mesh towards the back, I understand you screwed them into the body but did you have retaining bolts on them too?
And do you know the size of the screws?

Was the black hood painted on the top, or did you purchase a clear body and paint it in the bottom as usual?
