these things are so reliable its mad, get rid of the traxxas electronics and went power hd micro servos, savox steering and hw axe motor and zero problems. broke the pin that connects the front portal to the shaft the other day after nearly weekly use from release, i measuered the other pin and it had worn down to 0.8mm where it contacts the gear. replaced pins and still going strong

Tha k you for this return that could help a lot new TRX owners.
For my opinion, this truck is very well born and extremely reliable in any use, that so rare to mark it bolded.
He will be so much better with a lot of weight as low as possible
No needed of anything over the wheel level, but axles, links, portal hub, wheel hex, ... In brass and it run so much realistically
New shocks mount of longer shocks to 100mm could be good, not so hard to keep all whells on ground as often as possible
And alloy beadlock wheels and tires 1.9' dependant on ground you want, stock tires are good for begin and sand surface
But as soon as you drive on softer or rock or water, tires are made to excellence for these uses.
Add a controller one hand wheel steering to be at top of confort. With cruise control you are so easy to fun.
All other mods are not necessary but I prefer add lights, ESS dual sound, all metal accessories for looking, light don't forget, and tqi Bluetooth.
Stock motor survives at all I try to kill him, including salt water and beach, just redo brushes.
You could change but brushed motor are hard to kill. If rock crawling, it should be stay for years.
    That's it.
    My opinion From France 🇲🇫
    Cheers

Hello. I was offered one of them last night for cheap. It's only 1 year old and he's only used it 3 times and paid about £900 for loads of extras and only wants about £380 for it but I've got a cen genesis that he's wanted for years. It's barely run in. I bought it new and when I was running it in the pullstart snapped and I've still not fixed it about 15 years later. I have one but I never have time to do stuff like that. You can get carried away upgrading, I know I bought a t maxx and another in bits but the other is all custom parts made from aluminium instead of plastic Which looks mint but it's in bit's. I did build it once and found it's a drive shaft from complete so took it to bits again to upgrade the other because it's got an aftermarket racing engine and hand made tuned pipe on it and does about 90 mph. It's actually hard to keep it on 4 wheels on any terrain. Do you think I should buy or swap the genesis for the TRX? I really do like them and it will be nice to just switch on and go instead of getting the engine going even though that's half the fun and better sounding. Subbed for more cool videos. Do you have many r/c's? ❤️💛💚👍

Very good video! 😊👍🏼It is important to show others what they could potential do to upgrade their rigs with all the option parts out there. I have spent over £2,000 to upgrade my TRX-4 Defender in grey and it is weighing over 5kg. I think I might have overspent on the upgrades, as you suggested not everything is necessary and might have an adverse effect. I'm sure for those who have seen my channel would think I have spent way too much on my TRX-4, but we are all in this RC hobby and free to do whatever we want, which is the beauty of it. Your Defender looks great by the way, and I watching your channel has given me some ideas of what to do to my rig. Great video!! I finally bought a Defender TRX-4. What a rig! - I'm planning on running ELRS ( Long Range System TX/RX ) As I like the fact it has a seperate receiver thats interchangeable. Also have a DJI Air 03 unit coming with the goggles 2. Installed the ESS Dual sound module, It sounds sick! Going to keep everything else stock for now. I'm also running her on 3s x2 5000 mAh Batts. I had the Traxxas 3s 5000's but have decided to give them to my friend and I will run some equivalent Graphene's in her.
So I'm going to have a Traxxas TX and receiver spare that I may use for one of my boats...(Radiomaster 1W radio system going in ) Does anyone know the ground range on the Traxxas radio? I haven't tested the range with stock TX?
Also... Is there other tyre brands that will fit the axles? ..I nearly fell over when I priced the Traxxas upgraded wheels!
The Defender is my favourite chillout big boys toy now. Love the channel... Take care, MQ4 - Australia.

I started with a Traxxas T-Max Nitro truck and somehow managed to put almost $2k into it, which is a lot for the nitro era. Since discovering electric crawlers on YT, I'm putting together a setup that'll keep me highly entertained. Thinking about the 4WS Axial and would love to see someone put together a video of suggestions for immediate mods and upgrades to do. Pretty sure I want the 4-channel radio, to enable Dig and get fluid rear steering.

What an inspirational video! I have bought 1 year ago exactly the same TRX4 Defender. I have one small question. I see that you have modified roll cage element that allowed you to fit windshield wipers. Have you 3d-printed it or buy somewhere?

Thank you for your video. I ordered a TRX4 Defender yesterday and have already been considering what upgrades I should get ;-) Now I know what's necessary and what can wait, thanks to you! I think I'll start with the axles, as I really like them and it will add more weight 🤗

what most people do not realize is you can buy the blue tooth tx an install it to your remote. an down load the app to your phone. then you have every thing you need to set up. so get the app and blue tooth and check it out.

So this TRX-4 of mine was intended for the Killerbody Gladiator. Didn’t get it to work. Now has ESS-1, 72g hub weights, Traxxas lights with Pro Scale control, .
Is the black whip antenna on the back of your actually the antenna or a dummy?

Great vid I agree with all you said you’ve done a great review on multiple items I’m new to crawling but not to Rc I think you’ve paved the road to getting the most out of a trx4 with the right upgrades thanks a lot

Nice video, thank you :-) For shift servo and steering servo I can recommend AFG-RC, Reefs (rebrand of AFG-RC) and Holmes Hobby.
I would change the radio system, I can really recommed FlySky NB4. Originally it was a 4 channel...hence the name, but today it can handle a 12 channel! So many options on it, also able combine channels, setting endpoints, controlling light and winch etc. Oh and it can be used for right and left handed.

If you are looking to upgrade the tires look at the pro line krawlers and proline super swampers. Jconcepts land mines are Also another great tire. Another thing worth adding is the traxxas light kits are well worth the money. They aren't quite as bright as the my trick rc but everything is well thought out and made specifically for your specific truck. I've got a few of the traxxas light kits and light bars and ive never had an issue with any of the lights burning out or the wires.

What kind of highly advanced scx10 chassis, motor and wheel set up would you recommend;I have the Jeep rubicon styled body and still skeptical about attaching it to a highly advanced internal set up (especially being a beginner in the rc world )😩😩😩😩

    Great info!
So, how does that light kit differ from the pro kit from Traxxas? Especially when I upgrade to the QuicRun.

I keep my brass to a minimum: just outer portal covers and a front diff cover for weight down low. I do have brass lower link/shock mounts, but I have them to increase durability, not for the little bit of weight they provide.

I have the trx tactical. Same chassis different body's. I put HT racing brass wieghts on it i just got a rc4wd winch a few other things. Haven't upgraded the motor or the servos yet. Did get proline hyrax tires for it. I got to get a sound kit. That's the next one. I also had it for about 2 years now loving it. I could go on but, double click on the like button.

Hey RC Girl. My Bronco 3yrs old is a copy of your Defender 14lbs such double weight of a new of box Plastic at 7lbs. Full YR oh yes will say extremely heavy rig perfect to win tug of war lol or snap the rope Lmao, Hobbywing AXE FOC but I did need to change my micro servo. I change OEM For JX Micro Servo search for Traxxas Summit JX. I also had Hot Racing aluminum arm to it and hot racing micro servo mount for both sides of those 3 that Look amazing and 2yrs 1/2 run now those JX with weekly runs. Other suggestions is battery Gens Ace Adventure 4200, 3s, 50c fit perfect front tray or middle tray great weight reduction. Servo did similar but with Reefs 555 but will suggest 777 as programable for end point. At least my Spektrum remote is where it comes handy to set this up vs OEM remote. My last suggestion is Proline Hyrax Super Soft 1.9 with adding Proline Dual Stages with Axial beadlock. This is night and days compare with OEM tires. I have done this tire change 2 months ago and I definitely say change and don’t save but OEM are great if people want take time to save $250 for it.
I agree with you brass only Front and 1 thing brass is just enough. No rear brass. Stock shock yes did go PL Pro and back to OEM. Still reading RC Girl omg your video make me realize that I am fallowing your channel for more than 3 yrs. Amazing 🤩 Eh! Cheers happy Crawling and RCing. 🚘
