What's so awesome has to be the camaraderie actors develop after working on a film, sometimes this happens and sometimes not. But what's awesome usually comes from moments like these when actors get the chance to poke fun at themselves and their work from something fairly recent and are able to play with that stuff in moments like these. I mean, Meryl had a great sense of what was going on just by watching and listening and didn't hesitate to get into character once the camera was on her. Cuz clearly while they were having a bit of fun onstage, Meryl came to the table to make that moment of fun last even longer and mined the comedy gold for the moment. Awesome

Marie Antoinette totally deserved it. The amount of creativity and effort that was put into hundreds of different dresses for that movie is astonishing. The wardrobe, soundtrack, and direction/cinematography is what makes Marie Antoinette my favorite movie of all time.
The technical aspects of the film complement the wardrobe. Her designs were the icing of the cake. The look of the film took you on a cinematic journey.
@@phreshlikedat9752 I've seen "Curse of the Golden Flower" and it's not even the best costume design for a Zhang Yimou film. It's "House of Flying Daggers" in gold.
Marie Antoinette did deserve it. Years later, we know the immense impact the movie had on the fashion world and has inspired so many collections already, purely based on the costumes. None of the other movies did that.
It does if you compare Emily to Anne. Anne was great in "acting" during the performance but her "rolled" pronounciation in English is not as great IMHO. Same nationality: Meryl Streep. Her voice, tone and English pronounciation are just music to ears
Milena's speech is beautiful and sincere, she is so humble and so gracious and always so classy. and she looks better than anyone else in the audience, leave it to a costume designer to dress better and with more flair than the rest of the rich populace who just paid someone to have "good" taste for them . Meryl nailed it acting as "Miranda" for not even a minute! Even as herself, she still was able to give that fearful "Miranda stare"! It just goes to show how great of an actress she is!
This year's Oscar nominees were really hard to choose, since I love all those costumes. Marie Antoinette was so beautiful and delicate while keeping Historical Accuracy as possible, and Curse of the Golden Flower was also fabulous and unspeakable, and of course Devil wears Prada really shows modern fashion and luxuriousness.
Marie Antoinette costumes are exquisite and just unbeliavable. Look how they look light like clouds when acresses move. Look at the nuances of colours and the brightness of their silk. Milena Canonero has an unrivalled knowledge of costumes and she shoes each time deep historical research. If Stanley Kubrik chose her for Barry Lyndon was for a reason. Full stop
