Thank you for this excellent How-To video for the center tail light replacement. You saved me Big $$$ Dollar-Dollar bills compared to what the dealer wanted for both the OEM light and labor to install. Thank you and Extreme Terrain for the help! Carry On Sir!
It kills me to see how much trouble you guys go to to put the nuts on the new light. It took me a grand total of about 5 minutes. Before you pop the light in, you hold your socket with the nut in it and line it up with the mounting hole from the outside thru the back window. You can clearly see from there. I started the nut looking from outside lined the stud up with the nut gave the extension a few turns to get it started, and then repeated the process on the other side. After that, I popped in the light. All I had to do then was tighten up the nuts and that's it.😉 I wish I would have recorded it.
Lol. 🤦🏻♂️ oh man. Where were you a year ago? This is some great advice! Wish i would have thought of that when i was doing the install. Thank you, i’ll save that one for next time.
Very good video. BUT the light in NOT compatible with my 2023 Sport. The size of the power connector is smaller than the female port. I have been thru 2 other vendors with the same problem. I was going to try a light from Tacoma Life Style but after watching your video I could see that the port on light is too large. ANY thoughts would be appreciated.
Thank you for watching the best suggestion that I could have would be to de-pin the factory connector and take those connections and plug it in on the aftermarket light. You sound knowledgeable enough to do that if you’re not understanding what I mean, let me know and maybe I can make a short video on it.
Biggest pain in my ass as far as installing a light. I used a dab of super glue to keep the nut attached to the socket while trying to attach it to the new stud. A 8mm nut is hard to find if dropped! Otherwise you'll drop it over and over again and have a heck of a time trying to find it. I also dabbed super glue between the socket and extension and the ratchet. They came apart a couple of times and had to go fishing with a magnet. Wouldn't catch. Use a dab of super glue to avoid frustration!!! Good Luck!
Have you had issues with the led function not working or coming on and off from time to time? I’ve noticed the connection to the back of the brake light is loose which is causing it to not work
You are correct. If you drop it while disassembling. But while reassembling if you drop it you have to take it all back apart, unless you use a magnet.
LMAOOO I just realized 🤣I saw another video of this 3rd break light install and it kinda discouraged me because everyone in the comments were freaking out about it being so hard but maybe I’ll go for it I have a magnet grey and the whit tail lights and break light really arnt doing me much favors for my liking
The factory is a 10mm and the aftermarket is an 8mm if i remember correctly. It’s been a few months, but it does say in the video which one you’ll need.

First video that shows everything informative
Thank you! I appreciate that.
Thank you for everything
Thank you for watching!

where are the nuts actually gonna GO if you drop them ? Looks to me like they just fall in the cavity ….easy to get out after light is out, right?
Yes, easy to get out after the light is out (with a small magnet) but the challenge is getting them back in without dropping them.

You can also super glue a magnet to the end of your extension and that will help as well. But great suggestion!

I have not had that issue that i know of. I do a lot of drone footage and have not seen that.
Not that hard , the only pain is removing the black glue left over from the previous light.😵💫
That was such a pain. That part took longer than the rest of the install. Thanks for watching! be sure to check out some of our other videos.
If you drop the nut just grab it when you pull out the light. It's a big hole behind the light itself.

I love it. And honestly the install wasnt terrible.
This is impossible
What part? I would be happy to help clarify.
Getting my hand in the hole to take off factory screw
Ah! Yeah, not much i can do about the size of your hands haha.
My hands fit. What size socket do I need again
