I had these after 3k they make noise like crazy.. taking them off and getting name brand
Did you keep them cleaned, greased and properly torqued? These still havent made a single noise and they have like 6-7K on them, offroad and on.
Lovin the Tech Tip Tuesday! Keep posting them. 😊
It didn’t seem like anyone was interested so i stopped, but if even one person is liking them i’ll keep going!
Gonna get myself a new tool now. Thanks!
I have to buy a second one because i keep taking the one out of the truck kit to use in the garage! Haha
Great video. Thanks for sharing. You have a new Subscriber!
Awesome! Thanks for watching and thank you for subscribing!
What year model is your Tacoma?
Mine is a 2020 SR. This actuator is the same for the 2016-2021 models i believe before they updated the design of the actuator to fix the problem, but i could be mistaken.
@@azbackroadadventures Thank you. I was just watching a the actuator looked different. The actuator you worked on, was it towards the front of the truck?
Correct. This is the ADD (Axle Differential Disconnect) actuator. It is located on the front differential. The other one is located on the transfer case itself and to take it apart you have to disassemble the transfer case. If you are having issues with the truck going between 2wd and 4hi it is the ADD actuator, but if the issue is 4hi and 4lo it is the other one. The simplest fix is to get a transfer case out of an FJ cruiser with the manual shift lever for 4wd and installing an aftermarket switch for the ADD actuator and bypassing all of the factory electronics. I will be doing that install later in the year and putting a video out for that as well.
@@azbackroadadventures Great! Thanks!
@onewarrior5186 you’re welcome. Thanks for watching!
I bet it does all four tires in like 5 minutes
Should we start taking bets on guesses? You’re saying 5:00 flat for all 4?
@azbackroadadventures let's say 4:45
I am going 5:45
Why the hell is that bracket cost $520
🤷🏻♂️ probably testing for durability pulling. Any fabricator could probably make one for 20% the cost, but in today’s society not many people know how to fabricate. I know for me it was 1/3 the cost of a bumper and worked great for what i needed. When i got my bumper and sold it i sold it for a realistic value of i think like $250
Thank you for everything
Thank you for watching!
Great show and tell! Thanks
Thank you for watching!
Question. Other than the 3 bolts on each side of the frame, was there another support point? I did something similar to this and I’m told I should gussets to support my frame.
For that plate no, it was all gusseted within the bracket, i never had an issue with it and pulled it hard a few times.
@ so you didn’t add the thick bolt through your frame to a flange welded to your mount?
@ thanks for the feed back
Actually you are correct! There was a large bolt with that kit. I’m sorry. That was 2 bumpers ago and i had forgotten. If you are worried about bracing i believe RCI makes a bracket for added support. I will link it below.
rcimetalworks.com/product/bumper-reinforcement-brackets-05-23-tacoma/?gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADdU9NdWHEoYDbyqrisl6nUP0QE2H&gclid=Cj0KCQiA7se8BhCAARIsAKnF3rwB_qLKCR7sgdjCOyIf1CURxbBtK8WUFOmyoQQ_fcjnt4PlmiaOdaAaAnEHEALw_wcB
I put 285 70r17 load C (33in x 11.5 inches) as it reads both on the sidewall. I have a 2018 jku Wrangler jeep, I've had them for a few months. Had fun with them at Moab and other terrain. Not good in mud.. Overall love it! I only use my jeep for off roading.
Thanks for this, I have this exact situation I am trying to solve for on my short bed set up.
Thanks for watching! If you have any questions when you’re building (or find something that slides a little better) let me know!
Thank you for this excellent How-To video for the center tail light replacement. You saved me Big $$$ Dollar-Dollar bills compared to what the dealer wanted for both the OEM light and labor to install. Thank you and Extreme Terrain for the help! Carry On Sir!
Thank you for watching and glad I was able to help! Take a look at some of my other videos for other tips and installation help!
You did the metal clips wrong and the center backrest wrong. The clip is supposed to go all the way around the back of the seat going up and down to buckle. Not just behind the head rest
HOW MUCH WERE THEY BRO.
They were like $275 per tire plus tax, certificates, mount and balance. So it came out to around $1,800 for all 5. Discount tire does offer a 5% military discount as well.
Thank you.
Help....seriously help. Was trying to replace the acutator yesterday and had everything ready to go. I wanted to start with what I heard was thenhardest bolt to remove. Well, needless to say, that is where I got hung up. What did you use to: 1) get a tool on that bolt; 2) what tool was it; 3)were any prayers said beforehand? You mentioned middle finger left amd index finger to loosen.....right now I'm all in middle fingers at this darn bolt. Any...and I mean any helpful hints, and prayers, are welcome. 😢 Thanks for your video.
Good morning and sorry for the delay in getting back to you i took the holiday time to catch up around the house. If i remember correctly it is a 12mm bolt and i used a standard socket with a super stubby extension to get in there. If you havent figured it out yet i would be happy to make a little short just for you to show how it goes.
How are they in snow and wet conditions
They have done amazing in the snow the three or four times I’ve gotten to use them. The rain at low speed is good at highway speed. It feels a little unstable, but really not bad. As far as offloading climbing over rocks in wet conditions, they do really well also.
Excelled work. Thank you for getting that all figured out and making a tutorial.
You are welcome and thank you for watching!
Nice work! I aspire to be able to do this to my Diode’s! Thank you for the lesson!
You’re welcome. Thanks for watching. If you do decide to try anything reach out with questions.
Can you make a video on how to grease them
Do you have to grease the fittings after…am trying to refill buy grease doesn’t go in
Yes, you should be greasing the bushings periodically. If there isnt grease going in i would first change the grease zirks as they sometimes clog.
If your going to do a review and complain about specific items...READ the MANUAL FIRST. Both of your first 2 complaints are clearly covered in the manual. This would have likely prevented you from giving negative feedback about 2 items that you did not do properly.
Thank you for watching. As I have stated in several other comments, my reviews are based on user interaction and intuitiveness. Things that most people would logically do. I do understand on how the manual helps but want to give an honest reaction for an out of the box experience.
Can you post how the light bar looks in the dark.
Thank you for watching. I would love to, but i have since upgraded to pods. Sorry!
I was thinking of getting these for my qx56
So far i have heard nothing but good things as an entry level kit for an easy trail rig.
Tire rub?
@kentuckianahunter7194 none at all.
Was your 4lo flashing?
Hey! Thanks for watching. No, that is the actuator on your transfer case itself. This is when it flashes and either will not go from 2Hi to 4Hi or 4Hi to 2Hi.
Wow.. That is such a cool way to take charge of your own lighting setup and truly make it your own. Great job! 🔥💪
Thank you for the compliment! And thank you for watching! I love your guys’ products and can’t wait to swap out the rest with all Diode!
Looks really cool. Glad you got figured out and working. Not something I would do but can appreciate the look and work involved. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching. And for the kind comment, so many people these days just want to spread hate if it’s not what they like.
i put a full camburg mid travel set of Upper and Lower control arms, and king 3.0s on my tacoma and i've been chasing this lean for awhile now, thank you for this!
You’re welcome. They lean from the factory, but it’s exaggerated after suspension lift.
Can’t thank you enough for this video.
Hey, thanks for watching! Did it help you fix the issue?
good job
Thank you, and thanks for watching.
Hello friend, a question, are those control arms really worth it? My 1997 4runner limited that I recently bought I think is lifted about 2.5 inches, uses 275/70/17 tires and in general it looks very good and the wheels are well clear, but the upper ball joint in certain positions looks like it is working with a lot of stress. I don't know much about the subject but I started reading Amazon reviews about these upper arms from various brands and I ended up not knowing what to do, many say that they don't fit well, that you don't gain anything, that you have alignment problems... and since I don't know much about the subject I ended up completely confused. In the end I only bought the OEM ball joints to change them as a precaution since it is a vehicle that I just purchased.
Thanks for watching! So firstly there are many different lift options, some put more stress on ball-joints than others, there are also some control arms that offer extended travel. That being said i would say firstly it would depend on what you are using the vehicle for. If its mostly highway and simple fire-road travel these would be a great way to get your alignment back within factory spec. But if you’re doing serious rock crawling and need the added flexibility then something with a heim-joint would be better but they will wear faster under typical street use. I hope this helps, feel free to ask more questions.
I got almost the same set up height of the tent and love how I can keep some MPG compared to a fabric bulky tent, good video.
Thank you for watching! Yeah, i was surprised when i gained like 2/3 MPG’s switching to the hardshell tent.
Why is this music so gay?
Thanks for watching!
Dumb question, I’m new, what’s the just amber for ?
The Amber is usually just for a little added light to help cut through dust/fog/snow sometimes you can see better with just Amber instead of the white light. (And of course photo ops haha)
Thanks! Mine has been working intermittently so now I'll have a look at it.
Glad i could help! It’s probably dirty grease in there. Reach out with any questions. Or skim the comments i know a few have been answered there as well.
Phong cảnh rất là đẹp ❤❤❤❤❤
Yes, it was very beautiful out there. Thank you for watching!
need one in australia :(
Dang! Wish i could help you out there, but awesome to hear you’re watching from Australia!
You da best! 🤍👏🏼
Happy to help.
where are the nuts actually gonna GO if you drop them ? Looks to me like they just fall in the cavity ….easy to get out after light is out, right?
Yes, easy to get out after the light is out (with a small magnet) but the challenge is getting them back in without dropping them.
Great walk through I feel like once I get one I won’t have any issues. I’m leaning more towards this exact one for the main fact that it does not have a bottom which I think will work out for my bed bc I have a roll bar and tool box, they will have to be inside the tent and I’d be losing about 2’ I suppose but that’s not a big deal but I’m still not sure I could get away with it. I have an older truck 2001 sierra full size bed 6’ do you think this will work out with the roll bar and tool box inside?
It should depending on your height. I would say a good way to tell is leave your tailgate down and stretch out, see how you fit. The rest of it should be ok I would think.
First youtuber in history to stop and say, "These are the only parts you should have left over.." LOL XD
Haha probably a true statement.
Extra things to carry (you mentioned it for you) Tire repair it. Extra tip, for those running 35+ where a spare is hard to carry. They make jeep/toyota lug adapters spacers. Keep the adapter so if you need a tire, but you come across common crowds, you might be able to borrow a spare until you're on the highway. Also, keep some cash tucked away. Never know when the gas station in the middle of nowhere doesn't take your card ;-)
Thats a solid tip!
Sorry dumb question I’m really trying to learn but how do u get it to compress before you torque the ball joint nut?
If you aren’t able to muscle it into place you can use a ratchet strap to aid in pulling it down. Just make sure to place your straps strategically to avoid any interference.
Nice might jave to do that
It was so much easier than trying to find a fuse that came on with the key. I am redoing a bunch of the wiring on the truck soon and will be adding one for sure.
Are these those amazon UCA?
I actually had to go look, it appears that they are now available on Amazon. I have had great luck with their customer service when I went directly to their website, and my code will get you a little better deal.
@azbackroadadventures how have they been for you. I'm currently running SPC but the joints giving out
@yezkaholic they have been great. The SPC with the rubber bushings will be a much higher quality. If i’m not mistaken arent their ball joints serviceable? You should check into that first, but if all else fails yes, i am still happy with these after all this time. RSO is another company that makes a great product kind of in between the two. Check them out as well.
@azbackroadadventures yeah SPC was more than helpful to summit a warranty claim but I just want to go a different route find something alignment techs can work on no issue. Due to the adjustability on these some techs just had no idea what to do. But also don't want to be chasing warranties every 10k miles. Might give these a shot the price don't seem too bad
@yezkaholic i like them for my style of driving.
Not that hard , the only pain is removing the black glue left over from the previous light.😵💫
That was such a pain. That part took longer than the rest of the install. Thanks for watching! be sure to check out some of our other videos.
Heads up you shouldn't use metal tools on this model. The griddle is not cast iron. It's coated aluminum and you'll scratch off the non-stick and it'll end up in your food.
Yeah, someone else mentioned the same and I snagged some rubber ones after. Thank you though appreciate it. Thanks for watching! be sure to check out some of our other videos.
Wow!! Thank you so much!! I am going to get this one I think, you have really helped me, you are an amazing teacher ❤ great video.
Thanks for watching! be sure to check out some of our other videos.
Love how that Jeep walks those rocks like a champ, I'm not a Jeep owner but I am a solid axle owner and find it to be the best for off roading.
Yeah, i was talking to the Jeep guy after that about gearing etc and found out that while we were in 4-hi he was in 4-lo with a much lower gearing also haha. But agreed, if i was building up a strictly off-road rig it would be solid axle all the way, but when i also need to do 75mph down the highway the IFS was the compromise for me. Best of both worlds in the Tacoma. Thank you for watching!
