      Yea he looks really uncomfortable doesn’t he. Jimmy’s the king of the killer riff and this certainly would have been a Zeppelin anthem. The whole Coverdale Page episode is shrouded in rock folk law, probably the last time Page was at his most creative and it was not with Plant?

    • @Ed9870
      @Ed9870 3 роки тому +21

      @@paulhoughton5431 I'm convinced that Page knew exactly how to get Plant's attention by playing to his ego. Back then Plant would routinely knock Coverdale's Whitesnake as a Zeppelin rip-off during interviews and such. Page knew what that name would do to Plant, and he was right. Even though, ironically, both of them released their best post-Zeppelin work. Page with Coverdale and Plant with Fate of Nations. The next thing they did was the unplugged sessions and they were on their way. Too bad they couldn't combine on the material of those two records, because Clarksdale was a mishmash of gray matter.

    • @paulhoughton5431
      @paulhoughton5431 3 роки тому +8

      @@Ed9870 yea totally agree. I saw them in 98, Jimmy was playing very well(best he’d played for years) but Robert was going through the motion a bit, he was probably struggling vocally at 50 to do justice to material he’d sung decades before. I think Page struggles outside of the Zeppelin catalogue live, it’s a real shame he did not give it a go with Coverdale? I think he found DC’s personality a bit too ‘rich’ for his liking!

      @@paulhoughton5431 Same here. Caught the 95 and 98 shows. Four piece in 98 was tremendous but I agree with you: Plant was getting it out of his system, while Jimmy was regaining his swagger. Credit to both for doing Celebration Day in 07. They deserved a proper send-off, the greatest rock and roll band ever.

      Hhahahahahahahaha --- I clicked on this thinking that Coverdale looked very Plant-y in the thumbnail, not reading it correctly that it was "Page & PLANT" not "& Coverdale"! And I immediately see Plant and think, "Man, those were some lucky flies on that wall who witnessed Page bringing THIS to the rehearsal studio and putting his foot down to play it."

    This show I saw in the US. I will always say that it is one of the best shows I have ever been to. I was not able to see Led Zeppelin in their beginning's. I have adored their music as long as I remember hearing it and never stop listening to. When I got home from this show in my state, I recreated a recorded version replicating the exact order of everything. It was mesmerizing. It was phenomenal energy, vibe, talent, and most of all the legends themselves. Michael Lee rocked it, no one can be Bonzo. RIP bud, see you on the other side. Page, Plant ....man I will always remember this one, you were AMAZING. It was a HOT, HOT, HOT performance!!

    This song needs to be taken back in a time machine to 1976 and put on Presence. It is an individual song unto itself of course, but to me there's chunks of Nobody's Fault and Achilles. Quite a bit of Song Remains The Same also. Absolute fckng banger of a song that needed Plant's vocals on it in the first place as opposed to David Coverband.

    He’s almost doing a caricature here…not treating the song seriously. He could have put much more punch into it but held back because he just wasn’t into it, and was doing it as Jimmy’s insistence I’m sure. Too bad, because the other guys DID treat it seriously and did a damn fine job.

      It's apples and oranges-both are/were pretty much on the same level and as I've stated elsewhere- Coverdale/Page was Led Zeppelin II and should have done more music !!!###

    It amazes me that Plant went along with this. And yes, he looks a little uncomfortable. But you know what? He did it better than Coverdale. And I'm a Coverdale fan.

    Saw them at Irvine Meadows back then......Also saw Zeppelin at the Fabulous Forum in Inglewood back in 78'......The World's Best........They were so incredible together......Plant with his band now is very good......Page doesn't do too much anymore.....Why ?....Even Plant wants to know why.......

      Page retired from live performances back in 2000, the O2 got his juices going but Robert was not interested. Jimmy suffered a lot of back pain touring, I think he’s happy with his catalogue of incredible work.
