D'Angelo Barksdale had the heart for the "Game", but his heart was never really in it. The "Brother " was meant for a better life, too bad it didn't work out right for him.
I really liked D'Angelo's character because he was the "middle man" in the Barksdale organization. He took shit from the higher ups like Stringer & Avon and he also took shit from the lower rankings in the beginning like Wallace, Pooh and Bodie. He knew what it meant to be stepped up by the higher ups and he wouldn't do that to the lower ranking soldiers. I loved his character.
Really is true. He was actually not bad at the 'game', but his heart wasn't in it at the end. He just wanted out. He was actually a good manager who had a natural business-sense who turned the pit around and made it profitable. He was also Bodie and Poots teacher. In particular, Bodie learned how to run a successful business through him. D was, however, better suited for the legitimate world, but he did inherit some of the Barksdales business acume. He might not have been as disillusioned by the game if he had stayed in the Towers. Moving him out of the Towers was big mistake, that was part of what lead to the downfall of the Barksdales.
True, Wallace wasn't built for the game. Wallace was stuck in a bad spot, no true family just Poot, Bodie, and the game. He was a good kid, with a good heart, but no way out of a bad spot. He should have took D'Angelo advise and went back to school because even D knew the game wasn't in him. Stringer did what he felt like needed to be done, and D in return was doing what he felt like needed to be done, at the end they both get kill, so neither one comes out a winner.
This show was so good that it actually got me feeling bad for dealers. This scene right here is basically legalized harassment that they only get away with because they are police. D had nothing to do with and knew nothing about Gant's murder, but they messed with him anyways, wasted his time and took him in custody.
Uh. We, the omnipotent viewer, knew that D had nothing to do with a witness getting shot. But the police didn't know that. It actually makes total sense they would talk with D'Angelo Barksdale. But, you're telling me that the police following up on a murder of a witness, and taking to a person which Gant literally pointed out, is uncalled for? What are you smoking?
Yet another funny gag in The Wire - McNulty comes because he is here about "the bodies" and it just so happens there is one "Bodie" right there on the couch.
Am I the only one noticing how Stringer and them rolled up in the Mercedes and drove right to the edge of the curb/grass but then at the end of the scene they are still driving forward? lol.
Idk if anyone will see this but I’m kind of confused...how did they just detain D like that when he hadn’t done anything? Is it because they found the pager?
Police can detain anyone for a set amount of time. It was the moment D walked off he gave the police reason to pull him in. It was obvious the "civil" conversation was over. You can be pulled over by the cops, arrested, and thrown in jail before any charges are made.
They just wanted to press him, maybe he shows something, which he did with the letter. Remember when Levy comes in and asks "What's the charge?", well there is none.
Man I missed the early days with jimmy and bunk riding around doing police work together. Idk why they got away from that so much as the seasons went on.

The way McNulty says “I’m murder police. I’m here about the bodies.” Aura.
McNulty"s line -"just you, me my partner and Mr. Shit here"..........HILARIOUS!!!!!!!
When Bunk and McNulty worked together, they were a 'Dream Team'. They were both 'natural police'.
Natural PO-lease
Natural police? Faking a serial killer lmao or did you not watch
I can't think of a better show than The Wire
This show was so good that it actually got me feeling bad for dealers. This scene right here is basically legalized harassment that they only get away with because they are police. D had nothing to do with and knew nothing about Gant's murder, but they messed with him anyways, wasted his time and took him in custody.
And made sure Stringer saw it, too. That can be a death sentence right there.
Poking the hornet's nest
What are you smoking?
still they cant arrest him with no cause like that
They're bringing him in for questioning, and he almost turned state witness.
I’m gonna have to rewatch this show sooooooo good
This show is an annual watch for me
Stringer really just rolled up in plain view with music blasting for the cops to see 😂.
J H they already knew who he was and he wasn’t committing a crime he just rolling through. Classic scene
I never got that foreshadowing before, this series keeps on giving.
“Just you, me, my partner and Mr. Shit here.”
“Shut the fuck up your own self.”
McNulty owns this scene.
I remember this was the first ever scene I saw from the wire
LOL... DON'T KNOW BOUT YA'LL...THIS MAKING ME WANNA WATCH THE WHOLE SERIES AGAIN FOR THE 5TH TIME..(it's been a couple years since i seen it)
" Do I know you?" The start of a beautiful bromance
Make up Your Mind" by Kool Keith if your wonering about the song
You the realest
What’s the song in the beginning like in the background?! Anybody
well. at least d'angelo didn't get his foot chopped off and then eaten right in front of him.
Xross SweatPantz dat reference tho
JA JU where's that from?
MrBlkthndr The Walking Dead.
JA JU oh yeah I saw that clip man and he screamed tainted meat was the best.
TAINTED MEAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yet another funny gag in The Wire - McNulty comes because he is here about "the bodies" and it just so happens there is one "Bodie" right there on the couch.
This is modern day Shakespeare. Flawless.
I always like how Stringer move in Silence
Bunk and McNulty were gold
All of these actors need more roles... I feel like I don't see them enough... They are all so good
I think they’ve altered Kool Keith’s music a bit. That “string” sound (no pun intended) skips a beat here, compared to the original version.
By the sound of that the metal thing mcnulty threw down & sat on, you knew him & bunk meant serious business 😂😂
Makes your breath minty fresh LMAO
You want to get arrested? that No came from the heart
I’ve seen this show hundreds of times. Still don’t know why they arrested him here for what
They just wanted to press him, maybe he shows something, which he did with the letter. Remember when Levy comes in and asks "What's the charge?", well there is none.
The witness in his murder case was killed. U know the cops questions whoever they feel had motive
They were checking out the plates waiting for the the big dogs to roll up , look at bunk writing the plates
Say no to Drugs. Say yes to "The Wire " video clips.
“Boy thinks imma dirty him” 😂😂
Watchin this scene, I had no idea what ride I was bouta be put on
Larry Gilliard needs to be in every show.
Anybody know the background music when stringer and crew pull up?
Danm and bodie got got at the end 😢
I know who Bodie is but who was Danm?
Man I missed the early days with jimmy and bunk riding around doing police work together. Idk why they got away from that so much as the seasons went on.
You ate tainted meat HAHAHA- Bob the walking dead
McNulty:did I know you
Bodie :yah you're my killer
the bunk,d' Angelo mcnulty and mr shit sharing their thoughts, just talking, like hypothetically
I got a system, watch the vid, read the comments, find another video inspired by the comments. Run out of wire clips, till I end up just watching the whole series again. Same with oz and sopranos. Is there any other shows as good as these?
You ever wanna piss off a detective just call em "officer" 😂 Not respecting rank and title makes em sooo damn salty.
Not those two
Bodie didn't like when DeAngelo called him a witness 😂 he made that abundantly clear to all three of them before he bounced
