The sound blossoms... That is the word I searched for. When instrument really starts to vibrate the way it was intended it saturates with it's own vibration even in piano mode. It's a moment of sheer bliss for violinist.
Nah, that is just her with bad technique, poor intonationd and unfortunate sound "desire". Applying pressure to the violin and having tension in the right thumb achieves that ugly sound. My teacher said once, lending me his Stradivarius for a moment, "This instrument is like a Ferrari: if you know how to drive, you fly. I you don't know how to drive, you crash".
I was in the room at the museum to look at the instrument. Bruce Carlson was cool enough to take the instrument out of the case so we could look at it in further detail. It really was a once-in-a-lifetime moment that I'll always remember.
Wow, being able to listen to Paganini's Il Cannone is breathtaking!!! It really deserves its name! What an powerful instrument! ...not to mention Johanna Frankel's wonderful playing! Amazing!

The bridge seen at 1:08 is a copy of Paganini's bridge (which has no heart-shaped hole in the centre, just under where the strings sit). 1:35, they seem to have changed it to a modern bridge. Paganini's bridge is known as a "transitional" bridge due to the time period. A company called Milo Stamm make perfectly cut copies of this bridge, along with other styles from different time periods. They use lasers for precise cuts! The Paganini bridge is slightly more powerful and has that punchy sound, yet due to the lack of heart-shaped hole it is less forgiving on the strings and many notes are prone to squeaking. A modern bridge allows the violin to vibrate a little bit longer.
@@savromx4230 In fact Bottesini was the Paganini of Bass. If I had a 5 String Double Bass in Fifths Tuning (C, G, D, A, E) I could play Paganini's Violin Concertos arranged for 5Bass by Bottesini.

Three questions: 1. What is the Brand [name] of 'your' strings which you were allowed to use-?, 2. Were you allowed to use your own bow-?, & 3. How long would you say does it take for the 'Canon' to ωarm up-?
They were Pirastro Obligato strings, high-quality modern strings, which have a modern multifilament fibre core inside a metal coat (I think tungsten/silver). Though gut strings, which Paganini would have used, were mentioned, these are not gut strings but ones which she is more used to, as she said.
They are - you can tell from the windings. She said she was used to these strings, so they would be more comfortable - and they are very good (modern mulitfilament fibre core wound in a metal coating).
Having heard examples of the 'big 3'(amati,strad,& Guarnneri) to me,the Guarnneri is superior in overall tone& sound. Beautiful sound/ beautiful, talented player. Te salute'!
1:50 I wish people could rent churches for an hour or so to be able to once play with that great resonance. Most hobby players just practice in more or less small rooms...
Paganini gave it to the city with agreement that it would never be sold or lent out to musicians. They play it once in a while because sitting too long is bad for it.

what a stupid piece to showcase a violin! its meant to showcase the violinist..she should have chosen a piece that has a lot of legatos in all strings and a few double stops. u would not notice any difference tonal qualities if you play a super fast piece on a de gesu or a chinese factory violin.
