I cant understand why politicians and law makers get their knickers in a twist over fast bikes doing 200mph. They dont seem to have the same problem with supercars. Maybe because the bikes are in reach of the working class not just the mega rich.
I know it will do 186 mph on Pyramid Hwy just north of Sparks, NV. That is what I was clocked at when going past the Wild Horse BLM pens. The NHP officer said, "You were going 186 mph, but I will let you go, thank you for your service." Vet 1972 - 1983... Old guys still have some fun!
I am the proud owner of the ZX14 I needed more HP therefore I had no choice but turbocharging her. I wish they just continued with the looks of the 12R so beautiful compared to my ugly ZX14!
Should have done a supercharger, I know a bloke with one on a ZX12r, that one does do over 200mph. I have the 9r, just about as quick acceleration wise when stock in the real world due to the weight of the 12r (about 0.1 of a second difference to 60 on paper), but not quite as fast at 180 tops, but acceleration over top speed any day for me.
I’m a Kawasaki man from the first KX125 I bought at 13 but even if I wasn’t I would love this way more than the Hayabusa. It’s plenty fast but also looks great
I just bought one today and it's fucking sick, I did 300kms on the hwy and still could go more ... I can't believe that this bike does more then 300kms. it's unreal. For this bike I'm using my track suit, I need max protection for sure ...
Everything Jeff Stone said about the KAWASAKI ZX12R is so true co's i got one 2000, ZX12R. I had the 1995 ZZR1100 until a car to ran me over, i was so lucky to come out without a scratch,if it wasn't for my protective riding gears, as for my zzr1100 it was ridden off, i was so devastated, and never got over it, until i bought the zx12r,I had know idea about the zx12r, because its Kawasaki and looks slick, and proved me right when i first rode it i thought i died and gone to heaven, its so lighter and handles amazingly and so much horse power than the zzr1100.
J. Tupou l used to own a zzr1100 full power and now own a zx9r which i think is quicker than the zzr in every respect except maybe top speed. Ive never ridden a zx12 but i imagine its insane and its a beautiful bike to behold as well.
I considered a green 2003 ZX9R and a red 2002 ZX12R recently, both in the same dealer both the same price, but preferred the more touring oriented nimble green ZX9R. It's a better bike. The ZX12R looks like a dinosaur. ZX9R looks a classic sports bike. Both will only go up in value though. Buy one.
best bike ever made i had one in 2001 went by at least 3 cops on rt 95 nh to boston they did not even bother chasing me...189 mph i had more throttle just not the balls to try 200 this is before governed due to pimple poppers splattering themselfs never put a boy on a mans machine!!!!!!
I had a ZX12r it was my dream bike until I had one. It is not a sports tourer it is a sports bike it's a terrible tourer the Blackbird is a much better tourer. The zx12 is fast but keeps it's power high up the rev range. The fairing is very good but the seat, pegs & bars are sports bike you can make it more comfy but the fuel use & range is crap.
+james grocott I am like you. I would love to own one of these. I'm going to look at one tomorrow. It is a 2000 low miles in green. What didn't you like and what do you have now? Thank you and stay safe.
E.S. BiH Hi first I think the bike is one of the best looking bikes of all time & the engine is amazing as is the handling. The brakes on mine were a touch poor but if you get a 2004 onwards they have radial mounted brakes that are great. I rode mine from Lands end to John Ogroats & found that the bike was perhaps the most uncomfortable bike ever you could alter the riding position but it would be expensive also the bike has a very poor tank range & for a bike that can cruise at 100mph easy stopping for fuel every 100-120 miles was tedious & expensive. Maintenance is also very difficult due to the unique frame design. Depending on your use these may not be an issue for you. The Hayabusa is a better bike but the looks is up to you. I am saving for a K1200s I have a zzr1100. Cheers.

You obviously understand. Although the reason isn't based on money alone.

Zx12r 2001 is an amazing bike, the speed is out of this world, please people ware hard core gear for this size if bike...

I know, it's a future classic.
Except he forgot to mention it'll do slightly more than 188, Mine has an Akrapovic/PC3 and does 203.4mph!
J. Tupou they don't make them like this anymore!! Last of the proper bikes still could out perform latest bikes

@@vainparasite I love reading this. I have a 9R but am pining for a bigger ZX, 11,12, or 14. I think I just love Kawi's

Both awesome, but the 9 wins in the charm department for me. Good in twisties, comfy and more than enough power.
ZX12r all the way..
01 zx12r is a very nice looking bike too
I like how he talks about this bike in a field with sheep
Jeff was a legend.
If he says "aircraft technology" one more fucking time.... 🤣
Also at the red lights people in cars look at at me odd, because I ride a zx12r, they probably think I'm insane to ride this size of a bike ...

The goblin green is pretty disgusting, but evidently it's the one to collect.

Kawasaki green is the best motorbike color in existence
My dads bike for 17 years...

kloppskalli it's not. Better for tall rider if your young enough haha
For anyone who's never thrown one of these down the road you can get a good idea of the result by dropping a Lego model on the kitchen floor.
F. Wood don't tell me that
😂😂😂
OOOOHH if i was only more than 5'4"..........I got the beans!

You'll hit 90 mph in first gear with ease!
