Great transparency about the importance of mental health supporters in the sport from Richy. Even those at the top need to be checked on and supported at times. No one is impervious to struggle and it’s great to see him give support for others who might also be struggling.
So much sadness in his eyes. Life can be so dark, even for those who seem to have everything. Glad he's getting the help he so desperately needs, breaking the stigma and encouraging others to do the same, absolute hero 👏
Massive respect to Richy for doing this. Hopefully it will help others who are struggling to realise that there is nothing shameful or weak about reaching out for help when you need it - in fact, it takes a great deal of strength to do so. Good luck to him 💙💙💙💙 /Pablo
You are not weak for going to a therapist or a counselor (there is a difference); you are strong. It takes a lot to acknowledge that you are human and need help. In the African American community, we have the same stigma around mental health that he described. I am glad he got the help he needed. Rooting for him.
This just makes you realize that these people are human too What ive noticed is Brazilians are emotional and beautiful people who are not afraid to express what they really feel Pray for this young man and for everyone going through depression
Massive respect to him for speaking about this and to also say that going to a psychologist is no big deal and it's a healthy thing to do. It's just a professional person that helps you deal with your personal problems and guides you on your way. They don't magically fix your problems but they support your mental healing.
Wow Richy! Such emotion from him but absolutely brilliant work in his openness in talking about the pressure he was feeling. Very very proud of him in seeking help.
Nothing but my upmost respect for this man, if you don't experience these attacks it's so hard to understand, my whole life I felt isolated and felt weak, but seeing this gives me the strength to feel normal amongst my inadequacies, keep going brother!
Richarlison is a great player, to be a football player is 90% mental and 10% talent. It's hard to wake up every day and stay motivated. Respect for Richarlison.
Those are the signs of abuse ... when you forget it's how your mind deals with that abuse. That was abuse from a totalitarian government on the masses, abuse on a global scale and people are still not able to process things ...
I left the country because I didn't want to be stuck in the uk during lockdown but man when I came back some of my pals were in horrible mental health and only getting back to their normal self now
Myself and kids met him at the hotel we were staying in Barcelona he was shy but friendly and had photo taken with him. Wishing him all the best it takes a strong man to speak out about their feelings
Good for him! You already see the difference in his output on the pitch. Complete night and day. No one should ever be afraid of seeking help no matter how strong they think they are or what others might think. You have to walk your own path.
never had so much respect for him. I’m currently going through the same thing with loss of confidence and all that so this really touched me. I definitely cried during this. my love for football has always been there but I can never seem to get out of my head. proud of richy💗
Even though i suppirt liverpool me and everyone else needs to show respect to him he did so much for tottenham and for brazil im happy he seeked for help and i hope he doesnt stop getting better at this beautiful game
Honest truth iv been a Richarlison fan since day one. Kid has talent passion and bravery. And he scored the best goal in World Cup. Stay strong 💪🏻 prayers and best wishes bro 🫶🙏🇺🇸
So true, people forget that these footballers are also human. If we get upset over 1 thing our friends tells us, imagine the millions these footballers have to face
Stay strong, think of the positives, and why you wanted to be a footballer and play for your country. So many wanted the chance, and you did it in Qatar. All the support from your neighbours in Argentina ❤🙏
This kid was the highlight of the 2022 world cup with his pure Brazilian acrobatics and skills. Mental health is no joke people. If you need help please reach out. I just hope hes doing okay and would love to see him back on the team someday 😢❤❤❤
Currently going through it and seeking help. This type of spotlight is very important and gives people courage to seek out help as well. I’ve never seen Richarlison play but I’m for sure proud of this man. This wasn’t easy at all for him I’m sure
You could really see the heartbreak and betrayal he went through after the WC. I’m glad he sought help, and telling the world about it helps others. We are only human and going through something dark takes a lot to get through, and talking to someone is just part of the journey to heal.
I didn’t know much about Richarlison, but this interview made me root for him.. great player … a seemingly great person as well. It takes courage to open up that way… Go Richarlison… we love you man ❤
You are a brave man to open up on your real struggles and asking others to seek help. I know you wont see this but i hope you will do well in the future.
Kudos to Richy for seeking help. More men need to do this, it's shows strength to me. Go Richy. Enjoy life. Wished you were still at the Blues. Love you man. Thank you for what you did for us. Always respect.
I’m not really a fan of richarlison but this is so heartbreaking to watch and no man should ever go through this. Proud of you for getting help and opening up about ur mental health
So sorry to realise this. The mind is a horrible place to be as a man, the pressure to be always strong is intense. Even when people ask you to open up you are expected to ‘be stronger’. As a man I can tell you to open up is often the last resort before doing something we may or may not regret. Listen no matter how minor it seems. I’m an Arsenal fan and I wish Richarlson all the best.
So true, people forget that these footballers are also human. If we get upset over 1 thing our friends tells us, imagine the millions these footballers have to face
We live in a world with strong prejudices. Its good that people like Richarlison opens up like this. Ive been in a worse position Im still dealing with depression. Hopefully we all come out this disgusting disease.
Very good human being. I’m happy he is doing better now. It’s hard for us to understand how stressful the World Cup is. It’s like normal job but 100 times more stressful because he has whole nation of Brazil watching him
I have a lot of respect for this professional footballer to come out and speak about the importance of a sports psychologist and their role in supporting an athlete's mental health ❤️⚽🇧🇷
Dont give up my bro. You got this, be strong. There is a reason why you are a pro. Vammmooos. You are a good guy. Keep going, hope you see this message ❤❤❤❤🎉
Big respect, very manly and very brave to be this open and honest, just hope more athletes could be less scared of not being perfect/stoic. My vote is for Ricky ❤
I'm happy for Richy that he's been able to take control of his life, and that such control is now POSSIBLE. That he was able to seek therapy, and that it was able to pull him back from a *dark* place.
Its doesn’t matter who you are in life or what you are in life or how much of a great person you are.. we all need to keep our mental in check .. its hard having a human brain .. but it can be easy with the right ppl helping 🙏🏽🙏🏽
As Liverpool fan, I always thought Richarlison is a brat, who thinks he is the greatest nine in the world. Nice to see that he has a good heart and he is a real deal. Respect! This interview changed my mind about him.
I get a heavy energy from this guy and his depression has nothing to do with World Cup in fact he had one of the greatest if not thee greatest bicycle goals of the entire tournament!…I think depression has been an issue for him for a long time and I’m glad he sought out the help that he needed 🙏🏾
I work with people that struggle mentally on a daily basis. This is a very strong message because it´s often a misunderstanding that money fixes many problems. Richarlison being this brave to open up shows that money don´t stop these issues.
So glad Richy seeked help and is now stronger than ever. Big ups.🙌
As an Arsenal fan, I can’t like him, but I can respect him. Glad to see him thriving again, just wish it wasn’t at Spurs 😂😂😂.

Especially the ones at the top because they see themselves confronted with the criticism and hate of millions of anonymous people.
330 Likes and no comment LET ME FIX THAT!
I think I would really like to study sports psychology
Specially those at the top* I'd say
Man. Stand up! You are one of the best football player ever played this game.
So much sadness in his eyes. Life can be so dark, even for those who seem to have everything. Glad he's getting the help he so desperately needs, breaking the stigma and encouraging others to do the same, absolute hero 👏
As someone with anxiety. It doesn’t matter if you are rich, the brain doesn’t care about that anyone can suffer from mental health.
That’s true, I’m sometimes sorry for people who are very famous and can’t do normal things like having a coffee in public without harassment
This explains his demeanor on the field. Never smiles, always looking so serious, even after a teammate scores or he scores.
Highest respect for him!
As a therapist and an Everton fan, I’m so happy Richy got help. I also thank him for sharing his story and being so vulnerable.
We love you Richy💙
Amen 🙏
I'm rooting for Richarlison after this..
Me too.
Me 3
Me 4
