this is the first ramadan bazaar ever since covid hits, it was closed for the last 2 years. and what you experience is barely less than 10% of the full scale of ramadan bazaar pre covid. still, happy you get to experience a small portion of it

Quay is pronounced 'key'. Its an english word with french roots. the meat in laksa was clams. The tofu is taupok, is fried and fluffy. it soaks all the soup up. mutton should be a gamey taste. murtabak is basically a huge stuffed roti prata with egg and meats.
Clark Quay (especially during Covid period) is usually only active at night. it’s actually one of the most popular places people go for the night life in Singapore
It was a nice change to hear someone talking about Singapore, a place where I'm suppose to be most familiar with since I was born here. Firstly, Clarke Quay is pronounce as Clarke "Key". If you wanted to try Singapore Sling, you should've gone to The Long Bar and Raffles Hotel. It was where the original Singapore Sling was concocted. And the reason why Clarke Quay was kinda quiet in the day simple because it is a night life place. The whole place come to life at night. The street bazaar u been was along Geylang Serai and this happens only during the month of Ramadan (Fasting month) for the Muslims. I'm surprise u didn't mention this or notice but Singapore is a melting pot of different races. This is something we are extremely proud of where people of different races and religions live together in harmony.
The spongey ingredient in the laksa is tau pok, a kind of fried beancurd, and the meat is actually cockles. The laksa broth is mainly made up of coconut milk by the way, giving it its iconic creaminess and fragrance. :) (Thanks to the kind soul for point out that it's cockles, not clams as I had previously commented. :))
You should had your Singapore Sling from Raffles Hotel where the drink originally created. Or had it on SQ flight for free.. Boat / Clark Quay only active at night especially over the weekends.
Guys, glad you had a good time here in Singapore! You really nailed most of the top local foods, nothing too fancy, just everyday foods that locals enjoy. In a weird way, I am glad you got to try them and liked them. Please come back anytime, and safe travels! 🙌🙌🙌
Not sure if you guys are still in Singapore but I live in geylang and I recommend this dim sum place at 126 sims avenue. It's a short walk from your hotel, a hole in the wall kinda place. Also the herbal chicken at Leong Kee bak kut teh(lorong 9) is one of the best things in geylang. unfortunately it's frequently sold out.
We have bazaar Ramadhan only once a year during fasting month. I’m glad you managed to experience it as the bazaar wasn’t around the last 2 years due to the pandemic. It’s packed with people queueing for food to break their fast. It’s also where they sell so many things like clothings and lights etc to prep for hari raya which is a holiday the muslims celebrate over here right after Ramadhan. I love seeing tourists exploring Singapore. Hope you had a great time here. Do come visit again to try out the things you missed out on! Have a safe trip to Vietnam!
In your previous episode, the Jam you mentioned on the toast is called Kaya, which is less a jam and more like a coconut custard that’s flavoured with a local herb called “pandan”. It’s nice that you folks are so game to try new foods and stuff. There’s so much more to Singapore though and I believe your experience will be much more fulfilling if there were someone to contextualise stuff for you, kinda like a guide... Hope that you will return someday and I’m sure your singaporean followers will be more than happy to help you get the most out of your time here. All the best to you and safe travels!

If Tia want to buy clothes, near where you stay there is an old mall or plaza as we call it, City Square Plaza, many shops there sells trendy clothes. Is near where you took the video on the overhead pass.
The 2nd place where you got the cake pops was the Ramada Bazaar. The one before was just a coffee shop / kopitiam (a more smaller version of a hawker center, usually in the heart of housing estates and communities)

The Ramadan bazaar is the crowded place you went to towards the end of the video! The place you had your meals is just another food court (open all year round) near the bazaar’s location haha :)
I began watching you guys (and subbed) when I came across your recent Singapore vids. I love Singapore and have been there on business and leisure many times. You guys are great and very engaging. I looked back at your "older" videos looking to learn something about the two of you (where you're from, how you met, how you came to the travel game, etc.) but didn't see much in the way of background information. Just a little advice from someone who travels quite a bit and watches a TON of travel videos, people will be more apt to continue following you if they feel a connection to you personally. I found you because of Singapore but may not normally be interested in your other vids at other locations. What will keep me coming back is if I feel like I know you and am travelling with you. Beautiful set of videos from Singapore. I'm a UK expat-been living here for the last 12 years. I thought you gave a fantastic glimpse of some of the delights that SG has to offer. I'll be following you in Vietnam. Your enthusiasm is just *so* infectious.
I loved your entire trip here and showing how much you can still do with a decent budget. Everyone likes to complain that Singapore is expensive and yes, some aspects of Singapore are just insanely overpriced, but many other things are pretty cheap and affordable! And you got the true Singapore experience because of that. I think Crazy Rich Asians (the movie) also pretty much messed up a lot of people's perspective of Singapore.
To be honest as a tourist, there is nothing much to experience in Singapore, it is not really a place for tourism or fun, but more for work coz of its high currency. That's why many Asians from ASEAN wants to work in Singapore.
@@sktoh4469 Many of the visitors came because of transit flight, coz most flight from other countries flies to Singapore before you are able to fly to another country, not by choice. If you saw many UA-camrs, also they had no choice because of transit and had to stay in Singapore a couple of days, is this considered tourism? The number of people who really had the intention to really visit Singapore is probably much lower than that. But then there are those who came to see certain attractions, coz Singapore market itself well, but many don't have a positive impression of Singapore after a few days when they experience the reality, Singapore is known to be expensive, overrated, boring and stressful, many travel blogs and chat groups have said such of Singapore.
@@TeleeFONE Yeah you’re right, Singapore is more for Singaporeans than for tourists. For the people staying longer. That’s the problem. Your view is based on the fact that you don’t even actually visit Singapore FOR Singapore. You’re not trying to enjoy it here. That’s why these guys had lots of fun. Because they went to the places most tourists don’t actually go to. To truly experience the fun stuff, you’d have to stay for longer and go to places most Singaporeans actually visit, which most tourists don’t do. Either you have a lot of money to enjoy the full Singapore TOURIST experience, or you have a decent budget and you get to truly experience the SINGAPOREAN fun. That’s the difference.

Welcome to Singapore ! Just happen to come across yr Channel on my feed. Clarke Quay (pronounced Clarke Key) is more lively at night because thats where all the clubbing is. So happens Tue 19 Apr is Day 01 where safe distancing measures are eased for the nightlife, pity u guys missed it.
You guys have to take a video of your home town when you get home. For us who’ve lived in big cities with millions of people all our lives, we don’t know what it’s like to be in a place with only 10,000 people.
South east Asia is such a foodie's delight which is why I keep coming back from all the way in the Western Hemisphere. I am addicted to their desserts etc. Tia, how do you eat so much and remain so in shape!!!
Grats you get to experience the ramadan night bazaar after being on a hiatus for 2 years due to COVID! It is one of the biggest night market in Singapore every year!
you were very diplomatic on the mutton - strong gamey taste - one of those things you have to grow up with - miss the peppy music and Tia's desert happy dance - you think Bangkok's traffic was wild - just wait - thanks
'Quay' is pronounced key, though a lot of people do get it wrong the first time they come across the word heh Laksa is a coconut curry noodle dish. It usually comes with taupok (fried beancurd), bean sprouts, fishcake and the "meat" you couldn't figure out was probably cockles. Murtabak is prata stuffed with meat, egg and onions. Mutton is definitely the more popular choice for meat, though it does have a stronger taste so it isn't everyone's preference. Another popular mutton dish if you're ever back in Singapore to try is mutton soup. They're not very common but are usually found in hawker centers, a little bit pricey but if you're a fan of the taste then its a good way to really savour the meat and soup on its own.
Glad you guys managed to visit the Ramadan Bazaar. If you guys are still stuck in SG, Arab St, Haji Lane would be a nice vibe at night and even in the day to look around small shophouses in the area. Though I hope you already got your visa sorted by the time you read this haha.
Haha I think you went too early, people go there to drink/party, not really an afternoon activity. The “authentic ” singapore sling is at raffles hotel, not really sure if its better though(have not tried it there lol)
The both of you give of such good, positive vibes. This is my first time watching you guys and I enjoy it! Kudos for being adventurous in trying local Singapore food! :)
Hihi.glad you tried laksa and chicken rice as well as kaya toast. The mutton Murtabak is delicious. In the UK, mutton is an older sheep but in Southeast Asia- Singapore, Malaysia and even Thailand, mutton is goat. Not a bad thing just a different name. Have a great trip to Vietnam!
Singapore Sling originates from Raffles Hotel. If there's another chance, perhaps you can try ' the original' Singapore Sling? If not you can tour Raffles Hotel also. Has quite a history, that hotel
I love how you guys when plans go awry you guys just laugh it off. Then just proceed along with whatever that comes up..... that's certainly a good philosophy of Life!
First of all, thanks for dropping by Spore. Clarke Quay (pronounced as "key") is a old part of Singapore and is at the other end of Boat Quay (which leads to the Marina Bay/Gardens by the Bay). Situated very close to Clarke Quay is the pretty Robertson Quay park connector which offers a pretty nice walking path along the river that will take you to the nice Zion Road Hawker Center by the river. You should try the famous Char Kueh Teow (dark fried soya sauce noodles) here. It is rated one of the best in Singapore :-)
Don't they have the express VISA on offer any more? You could get VISA approved in 2hr but cost bit more. I learnt that on o first trip when we showed up at Changi 3hrs before flight to Vietnam thinking you could arrange the VISA on arrival like in Cambodia.
From what we saw, they have two schemes these days (for Americans). 1. E-Visa. 3 day turnaround and costs $25 (it took four and a half days for us). 2. ‘Visa on arrival’ but for Americans it’s not really a traditional visa on arrival. You have to apply for an ‘invitation’ before arriving in Vietnam. That apparently takes 4 days if you do it in person at an embassy, and a couple weeks by mail. Both schemes have 3rd parties advertising faster turnaround times for a fee ($100-200 per person). Really we should’ve left more buffer time for the visa to be approved. Ah well 🙂
Welcome to our Little Red Dot.. It is "Food Paradise" . You would be more confortable sitting on on the chair and table all over the place, and I would recommand a bottle of Tiger beer to "cool everything down". Actually, the beer "maybe" enchanced the tastes of the "Laska" and especially the "Mustabak". I usually have a bottle of Tiger beer, pan-fried dumpling (Japanese gyoza) at People Park Hawker Centre.
Mutton is sheep meat. An older sheep but not lamb however it can also be goat meat! It is very strong. We used to eat a lot of mutton in NZ . Not quite so much now. Best very slow roasted or curry.
i used to work with a turkish guy and he had meatloaf sandwiches , i love meatloaf (the pig/beef version) but he forgot to mention it was mutton (shouldve known though as muslims aren't alowed to eat pig meat) , it was like getting hit in the face , the taste was verry different , i had a hard time actually finishing the bite hope the vietnameese visa will come through if not you might want to call after it to see if they are actually prossessing it or never received it The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a Level 4 Travel Health Notice for Vietnam for COVID-19, indicating a very high level of COVID-19 in the country it might be a better idea to travel to malasia for now , its not cheap but theres a lot to see there

the number 1 place to go in Singapore for murtabak is Victory restaurant on the Arab street that has a fierce rivalry with its next-door rival "zam zam" and customers are fiercely loyal to one. and the only murtabak u should have is the mutton. also if u come back maybe next year for the Ramadhan bazaar or maybe in 2 years, I'll Love it even more. this year because of covid, there are only 70 stalls. pre-covid we have on average 500-600 stalls. it's massive.
Your stay in Singapore is way too short…. Hope you guys return and explore some place again. Probably with a local so you get the real deal. Oh.. we pronounce “Quay” as “Key”. :P

Beautiful set of videos from Singapore. I'm a UK expat-been living here for the last 12 years. I thought you gave a fantastic glimpse of some of the delights that SG has to offer. I'll be following you in Vietnam. Your enthusiasm is just *so* infectious.
so sad you are leaving Singapore, hope u enjoy your stay here.
The presumed high prices has dissuaded many from visiting Sinkapore. Sad.
To be honest as a tourist, there is nothing much to experience in Singapore, it is not really a place for tourism or fun, but more for work coz of its high currency. That's why many Asians from ASEAN wants to work in Singapore.
@@TeleeFONE A small island that attracted 20 million visitors annually (pre pandemic) is proof that there are attractions enough.
The final part of the video is the Ramadan Bazaar! It happens only once a year. Hope yall enjoyed your stay in singapore!!!
U 2 look so awesome together and happy in Singapore. Please come back again! I’ll gladly play host if u r back. Meanwhile keep the good vibes going 👍
That is incredibly kind of you! We may take you up on the offer, if it still stands in a month or two 😊
I would offer to play host too! And bring you to experience the Singapore sling proper at the Raffles Hotel's long bar.
@@REC_CER We would love that 😊
I have followed your channel since the begining, you journey really make me feel that my home country Thailand has done quite OK specially during this difficult time. thank you . 🙂
Me too!!! 🌸
You should have tried Long Bar at Raffles (the original, I believe). It was quite lovely but was in 2009
My Visa expectations- whatever they tell you, add three days, and the next step, add two more. And maybe the best music ever for doing laundry! Nice selection!
oh you should’ve tried the Haig Road putu piring. it’s so near where you were. it’s on the michelin recommended list.
Ya!that's another good hawker centre too
Amazing couple. Positive and sensitive to the different cultures and cuisine. Love how you describe the food, drinks and the places of interest.
That's really kind of you to say, thank you 😊
You are at Geylang Lorong 23... you can have very good meals at Penang Rd Seafood ( Lor 25) ( Assam Laksa), JB Ah Meng (Lor 30) ( burnt fried bee hoon), Beef hor fun ( Lor 9) Frog legs ( Lor 9 )
What a lovely couple. Looking forward to your next video ,cheers .
I honestly love to see the beautiful smile on both of you always, what a couple. God bless and have a safe journey always!
Clarke Quay only opens up in the evenings. You have to head down to the Raffles Hotel to get the original Singpaore Sling
Black pepper rice, that dark brown sauce is probly; Ketjap manis= the Ind.sweet soja sauce with spices reduction. In Holland we call the round little pancakes .the famous "Poffertjes" .OMG ! LOL !!
Tia! You're so beautiful inside out! That smile and positivity 😍 I'm curious of your roots, if you dont mind sharing?
We are going there in July and im so glad you showed some of the local foods you both Are simple but amazing with your details and so positive with your mindset. I love it so motivational
Mexican here, Spore has the most flavorful food in the world hands down.
Singapore looks to be the most vibrant city. Perhaps you can show us your hometown to let us have some context from where you guys come from.
We will likely do that at some point, though at the moment flying to the US and back would be a huge dent of our budget 😂
Pronouncing Quay as Kueh (meaning cake in dialect ) is a famous joke in Singapore.
Gin and tonic - and if that is too sweet then gin and soda water with lime.
Gin and tonic all the way. Great drink 🙂
So, did you finish the Laska, we have good ones here in Australia too.
'Quay' is pronounced key, though a lot of people do get it wrong the first time they come across the word heh
Laksa is a coconut curry noodle dish.
They're not very common but are usually found in hawker centers, a little bit pricey but if you're a fan of the taste then its a good way to really savour the meat and soup on its own.
yes muturbak is with egg not cheese.
Oh, u need to go to Raffles Hotel for Singapore Slings. The place where it all started.
The black meat which is soft n slightly meaty is actually cockles, which is a shell fish.
Thank you for the info 🙂 It was a difficult taste to place
@@OnePackWanderers first time I ate Laksa I found a definite kinship with Chiangmai's Khao Soi. do you feel the same?
@@hilmir Yes! They definitely taste ‘related.’
Glad you guys managed to visit the Ramadan Bazaar. If you guys are still stuck in SG, Arab St, Haji Lane would be a nice vibe at night and even in the day to look around small shophouses in the area. Though I hope you already got your visa sorted by the time you read this haha.
Glad that you guys stayed another day.
Please come back again soon
Love you guys 🫶🫶
I guess that is fish cake that you are eating in the Laksa
Haha I think you went too early, people go there to drink/party, not really an afternoon activity. The “authentic ” singapore sling is at raffles hotel, not really sure if its better though(have not tried it there lol)
over 15000 subs....fantastic! you guys are doing very well
Re Quay, it's pronounced 'key', the same as Circular Quay in Sydney Au.
Singapore Sling was invented at Raffle's Hotel, but it won't be cheap there.
6:50 Those are Tau Pok.
You guys should visit Arab street especially during the night time.
The both of you give of such good, positive vibes. This is my first time watching you guys and I enjoy it! Kudos for being adventurous in trying local Singapore food! :)
You guys missed out Durian! Come back during the season! its the best fruit!!
It works for us! 🙂
Hope you like Singapore . Do visit us again and there is so much more to explore . See you soon. Stay safe
We later learned this particular mutton was very likely goat. And it tastes very strong indeed! Would like to try it slow roasted.
i used to work with a turkish guy and he had meatloaf sandwiches , i love meatloaf (the pig/beef version) but he forgot to mention it was mutton (shouldve known though as muslims aren't alowed to eat pig meat) , it was like getting hit in the face , the taste was verry different , i had a hard time actually finishing the bite
hope the vietnameese visa will come through if not you might want to call after it to see if they are actually prossessing it or never received it
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a Level 4 Travel Health Notice for Vietnam for COVID-19, indicating a very high level of COVID-19 in the country
it might be a better idea to travel to malasia for now , its not cheap but theres a lot to see there

U two are gorgeous couple.
Tq fr visiting Singapore. Hope u love our country.
Yeah I'd certainly love to donate to your channel!
Use spoon when eating rice. That's how you get to taste the full flavour
I'm glad you enjoyed most of the food in Singapore. Please come back again. 🇸🇬👍😊
That Singapore Sling looks so fun and yummy!!!
I see you guys are in the food court (or hawker centre as we Singaporeans call em)
How do you like our cuisine?
Your videos just popped up on my feed and I’ve watched all the episodes on Singapore 🇸🇬 because I’m homesick 😉
You guys did tried some legit looking food like Hainanese chicken rice, oyster omelette (“O Luark”), Laksa and murtabak 😋
Safe travels!
Thank you! Some really amazing food in your home city!
LOL...
Both of you when to Clark Quay... A place known for its NIGHT life... In the afternoon... And wonder why its 'Quiet'.... 😂
But you got the Singapore Sling anyway 👍
Anyway... The original Singapore Sling is created at the Raffles Hotel... You should spend that little extra to get it there next time...
Safe trip in Vietnam... Will be waiting for videos if your motorcycle trip 🤗
Black chicken soup is actually a thing in Singapore (: looks like you guys had fun over here! Come visit us again sometime!
We’ll definitely come back!
the number 1 place to go in Singapore for murtabak is Victory restaurant on the Arab street that has a fierce rivalry with its next-door rival "zam zam" and customers are fiercely loyal to one. and the only murtabak u should have is the mutton.
also if u come back maybe next year for the Ramadhan bazaar or maybe in 2 years, I'll Love it even more. this year because of covid, there are only 70 stalls.
pre-covid we have on average 500-600 stalls. it's massive.
Your stay in Singapore is way too short…. Hope you guys return and explore some place again. Probably with a local so you get the real deal. Oh.. we pronounce “Quay” as “Key”. :P
Laksa is a Great choice
Singapore Sling has to be had at the Raffles Hotel's long bar or on an Singapore Airline flight. Lol
Come back in October to experience the Indian festivities in Little India, or in January 2023 to experience the Chinese New Year night market in Chinatown. Each is a unique experience to be had in multi-cultural, multi-ethnic Singapore!
If you guys are ever back, I'll bring you guys to Raffles Hotel's long bar and buy Tia a Singapore Sling and Chev a G&T.
