From what I've heard when crossing the street in Vietnam, you need to walk with confidence and don't break your stride so bikers/cars can easily anticipate your movements. Accidents happen when people suddenly stop or change their pace, which is completely understandable considering how intimidating it can be to cross the road. So very excited to see more of Ho Chi Minh!
Yes this exactly. Don’t be hesitant just go with confidence and they will avoid you if need be. I personally didn’t have an issue with it the first time I went but I can see why it would be a bit daunting to some.
As a local, my advice would be a bit different. You can stop and in some case it's better to do so but dont do in panicking maner. Steping backward is likely not good.
Laos is the quiet neighbor of Vietnam. You don't have to worry about the heavy traffic. It is nonexistent there. Laos has the lowest population of any Asian country. I go there every year for the solitude.
@@OnePackWanderers If you can, I recommend you to visit the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam (because it is near Ho Chi Minh city), and Hoi An (my absolute favorite place in Vietnam). Enjoy!
You guys look like a nice couple. HCMC has developed so much from when I was there. I hope you guys get a chance to travel from South to North and get to see the entire country, meet nice and friendly Vietnamese, eat fresh and delicious food at great price, and see its beautiful scenery. Thanks for taking the time to film and post the video.

In Vietnam you don't stop when walking across the road, just do it slowly while watching traffic, that way the motor vehicles will avoid you. If you stop in traffic it's pretty unsafe.
