That momma bear and cubs have been spotted on numerous trails in the area. Momma doesn't seem to be aggressive, but hopefully just like the riders in this vid, people give her lots of room to avoid conflicts. Loved the pesky birb at the end! 😁
Around minute 8:30 ish... In that same trail. ... I fell off from my bike, flew over the Handlebars and broke my Knee (Tibial Plateau Fracture) This happened last weekend. I had to ride all the way down to the parking lot with a broken leg. Not fun..!!
I’d imagine Moose would already be open to logging if it wasn’t for MMTBS. Even if you only get out a couple of times a year it’s worth buying a membership to make sure the place isn’t clear cutting.
From the footage it doesn't really look like the type of forest that has many trees worth logging, I'm a bit surprised there are companies wanting to log it. Or are there other parts with more lumber worthy trees?
Quick not so protip for you...Take a bit of a velcro strap and put it around your crank arm and down tube to stop the crank from spinning. I would think the excess wear and heat buildup can't possibly be good if you are transporting like this a lot.
Okay so cool, I am in Canmore for Father's day and was walking along Rundle drive near the bow river Bridge and who did i see drive past? Ryan and Beth. So cool.
10:48 thats my truck Im famous! My friend was going down family guy too waiting for the bears to move. Cool that you were able to capture them on video
From Alberta, live in Montana…sorry -I feel for ya!!! We have been open for months and surprise -no massive outbreaks, in fact the opposite. Hang in there!
I’ve often thought about doing a “StravaDuro” or “GoProDuro” just for fun locally. This might be a cool way we could help raise money for our local trail advocacy. Great video!
I participated in this event and really really enjoyed it (though I was more interested in the XC race than the enduro). I don't have a GoPro though, and most people don't, so a GOProDuro would exclude a lot of enthusiastic riders like me.
Moose Mountain.... Elbow Valley west of Calgary? Am going camping back to Little Elbow in a couple of weeks. Have heard good things from non mountain bikers.
Thanks for sharing man. Our ride didn’t go as expected neither. It wasn't because of a bear encounter but because my friend crushed 1k before finishing Family Guy. Anyway, we were able to finish the downhill with him dealing with a fracture. Thank God we made it to the hospital and he got his surgery. Other than that, it was quite fun.
Same thing happened to me on uShoulda prolly should have been marked. Family had lots of climbers day one of the race. But still a super fun time and it was an easy way to get into racing as it was my first time
Just curious what watch and phone you're running strava on and if you found much of a difference. I've just found in the last few weeks my watch has been way off.
My watch is a Garmin 735XT with a chest strap HRM hooked up. It tracks pretty well other than elevation. It always seems to show about 10% less elevation climbed than anyone else on the same ride. Not the worst thing in the world, but it a little annoying! For my phone, it's an iPhone 12 Pro. Comparing the Strava times, my phone was usually a couple of seconds faster, so I went with those numbers.
I think your bike was going faster than you were in the back of your car Love the trail riding excellent video is always Unfortunately one of your times got messed up due to natural trail congestion Love the bird I'm surprised it didn't s*** on your face as you were filming As for me I just did over 80 miles in one day and that was Saturday Friday I did I'm not exactly positive but I'm going to say approximately 8 Miles kayaking downriver or with a flow unfortunately we had to come back no shuttle was involved so he's got hurt and so did shins but I made it back and so did my kayaking partner which nearly lost his phone and got crashed a second time with a flip second time did I flip not once Again excellent video take care
@@TheLoamRanger What single axis gimbal were you using? I really wish that GoPro made a cage for the Karma Grip so you can use the GoPro 8 on up. Seems like they screwed over the owners of the Karma Grip with not being able to continue using future GoPro's.
Awesome video Ryan! So the first trail was 7-27 (I crashed on it last year. doh!). The second was Family Guy, but what was the third? I've only ridden it once last year, but was it UShoulda? I remember UShoulda having a bunch of downs and ups in a row. Also loved the bird! More bird in your videos! 😆
Interesting that it's so hot, yet you guys are wearing your goggles on the way up. I never understood wearing goggles, except in really dusty conditions.
so why would you continue riding down the. the other rider told you there was a bear and baby on the trail further down!?...this is how it could have gone...you continue down/ bear attacks you to protect its baby / bear gets hunted and shot all so you can have a video for youtube SERIOUSLY 😡
Clearly you don’t live in an area with bears... I had 3 run ins last year, two of which on moose it’s part of spending time in the mountains. Take a bear awareness course and educate yourself to move beyond your sensationalized understanding of nature!

Ya I saw them at one point a few days ago
Last week on the jump trail too

Bruh Petey the Budgie is cute, I expect to see him shredding the gnar in future vids
Loved the bike on the back of the car 😂. Great vid as usual

100% Let’s hope we can put enough pressure on the provincial government to keep the area how it is.

@@fillfreakin2245 With current lumberprices, even worthless woods are worth destrying for the little good wood that is in there.
@@fillfreakin2245 Do a quick search for kananaskis logging. Unfortunately for wildlife, hikers and MTBers there’s quality timber in the area.
Omg the baby bear was so cute!! Your riding was ok too 😆🥰
Pedal innovations are the best pedals ever!😉
Thanks for this! The budgie is awesome!

That budgie tho 😂 - I think Petey is looking to be featured in a future video
As a fellow bird owning MTBer, the end was my favorite part of the video lol count me and my girlfriend as two that enjoyed seeing your bird.
Thanks for supporting MMBTs! The more members and support we gain, the more legitimacy we have with the government. Also nice work on the race!
Good to see a video with you on the trails
Okay so cool, I am in Canmore for Father's day and was walking along Rundle drive near the bow river Bridge and who did i see drive past? Ryan and Beth. So cool.
Oook that was like one of your best vids ever. Gotta hand it to the bears and that adorable bird. Nice to have things changed up a bit. Cheers!
I love my Velocirax! Great video and bears are always a blast. I run into elk, almost literally, in the Cascades of Washington State!
Love that bird!
0:01 just add the Gas Gas Gas song to that

Racing! Virtual races are awesome! Can't wait to get back behind the tape (errr, or virtual tape in your case).
From Alberta, live in Montana…sorry -I feel for ya!!! We have been open for months and surprise -no massive outbreaks, in fact the opposite.
Hang in there!
nice to meet and to do a lap of Starwars with you yesterday!
Stage 3 gave me some hardcore speeder bike in Endor vibes!
Your bike was so happy it was trying to race you there 🚲💨
I almost forgot this was a MTB vid, Petey is awesome!

Great video!
That would be cool! I like the idea of a GoProDuro because of how accurate the timing could be.
@@TheLoamRanger agreed. Even just a simple land marker in the corner of the frame will do for the start/stop. Zero-overhead fundraiser!

FG is a climb trail except for the joeys of the shuttle world
This is sick! 🔥 Hope to catch you sometime at Moose!
I guess I’m one of the 3 people that liked your bird! I thought that was fricken hilarious!!
Have you experienced motor whine noise from your Quark gimbal?
Wow, how fast r you guys going, I was having a rush just watching that, 😀
When you’re so bonked after the climb that you think half way is further than 2/3’s
You should come down to Idaho and ride brundage.

Nice moment when you met the bears :)
The bird should be a permanent addition. thanks
Hey! What shelf is that midi keyboard standing on? Looking for a similar for my tube amps.
I see you're still running the Flexxx bars. Thoughts on those?
Would you mind sharing your setup on your MRP shock? I am running 550 with 15 LSC 10 HSC. Thank you
That bird!
I think I’m going to do a race this year. I am barely starting to hit blacks and I’m not particularly fast. But it sounds like fun!
Hey Loam Ranger! cool video dude! keep shredding :)
he looks like Roman Atwood
"i sure this cute to 3 people", one right here

I've always wondered why you mount your watch onto your handlebars, does it not have a heart rate monitor or are you just not worried about it?
I wear a chest strap for heart rate. Works great 👍
Fun vid! What type of bird is Petey?
Do you really need the gimbal with the Hero9?
If you want 4K or 5K with horizon leveling, you do!

No tapes ? Everybody knows that tapes make you faster !
😂 missing those Madeira Blues?

Agreed. The link is broken. its . . . . bts not tbs
You ride with bear spray, we ride with bug spray 😂.... Gotta get the tribe out to Alberta soon.
Stress less, ride more! Stay safe.
I thought you guys moved to BC?
Nope! Moved from Edmonton to the Canmore area. Love it 👌
Didn’t notice any really evident negative impact with the hyper smooth in the medium setting. I actually like it better like that lol
Getting dissed by a budgie, oh myyyy.

You're a MTB UA-camr and you're surprised that a trail is alot rough er than on video?!? 😂
Late to the party but cool thumbnail, nice lean
This vid is for the birds.
Bears
PLEASE PUT bungee cord around the cranks and frame or something to stop them spinning like that really not the best for your bike
You are VERY HANDSOME!
UA-cam video interference:
bird > bear
Canada needs to cut the crap with this Covid bs.
Good thing that bear spray got on your mouth. Although you might have had to kiss the bear to scare it off. Lol. Jk.
Interesting that it's so hot, yet you guys are wearing your goggles on the way up. I never understood wearing goggles, except in really dusty conditions.
The sun was soooooo bright and we were climbing a fully sun exposed road. Trust me, I didn't want to wear those goggles haha
