- Ryan hurts his body at the Canmore Enduro. James also, in addition, hurts his body while also racing previously mentioned enduro. You should give your local enduro a try! Seriously though.

The speed at which James rode Organ Donor is absolutely ridiculous
That was my second enduro race ever, I saw you two chillen before it started. Rode all the trails blind and came in 45th. The hardest part of the day was the heat hands down, nice work fellas 🤙
I like these videos with James, dude shreds 🤙
Thanks buddy. Appreciate that.
Nice, I race my local enduro series, super fun and the hometown advantage makes it even better.
Nice work! See you Friday 😈
Daym, that was ace. James, you were super flowy in that pump section - could just hear you hub humming along. Sick video guys
Thanks mate 😃
Those are some beautiful trails man, thank you for bringing us along.
Congrats to you both! Really entertaining and inspiring vid.
Nice job guys. I would love to do an Enduro race but idk if my hardtail could take it, since I can't quite afford a full sus right now. But Blake from GMBN did an EWS race on a NukeProof Scout so maybe theres hope lol
Fun to watch and very well edited! I'm a bit jealous of what you guys get to ride out there. Nearly all the trails near me are XC so watching you guys struggle on the pedaling is funny but you would probably have a good laugh at my downhill skills.
So fun! Got to ride the course the day before the event, but missed the sign up. Amazing trails
Nice job guys! That was fun to watch. I am out for at least a few weeks with fractured ribs from a crash the other day so your vids are helping me learn while I am sitting on my ass :D
Love the racing videos! More please!
Friggin awesome! Nice rides you two!
Why did James get a redo on the first segment? I have never heard of that in an enduro race.
Great vid, love Ryan's in ride commentary "oh" "oh dear"
So polite :)
Wow James with his minimalist gears for Enduro race 😆
Awesome video! Can't wait to hear how the EWS80 at Whistler goes! I'm doing the EWS80 at Sugarloaf!
Very nice!
Please, next time, attach the plate to you bars 🙏
I noticed that too! The shaking would have driven me CRAZY! Worse than a creak on James’ bike. Lol 😂
Such sick trails! looks like a fun one
I'm begging you to zip tie your number plate to the bars not the brake cables 🤣
All I am wondering is, has anyone ever seen The Loam Ranger and the rapper Logic in the same room at the same time?
Use mustard sachets to stop cramp. It works instantly. It has nothing to do with water or salt loss it is your body using up all its store of acetylcholine which is a neurotransmitter that signals to your nerves that the muscle should contract or relax. They miss fire and the muscle spasms. Your body has enough choline it just needs acetic acid to make acetylcholine. Acetic acid is vinegar, mustard contains vinegar and mustard is also reported to improve muscle function. You can use any type of mustard. I use a small spray bottle with vinegar in it and just spray it under my tongue.
Marathon runners have known about this for a while and mustard sachets are easy for them to carry, bite open and consume whilst on the hoof.
I have heard this before but didn't know why the Mustard. Many in my area use pickle juice, same principle I guess. Thanks for that knowledge
Well done you two!
That's excellent stuff! I really want to get onto a Ripmo. My Ripley is phenomenal, but once you start hitting some drops and bigger g outs, I meet its limits. Not in a bad way mind you. Just the type of riding that probably wouldn't bode well for long term use on the bike.
Ride more together. A great combo!
I'm sorry for James' wipeout, but c'mon, that's a comical capture of it.
I love Canmore and I did the enduro the weekend before and i do biathlon so I am out there quite a lot
After seeing your Strava post I was really hoping you’d make a video, so thanks.
We have a new race this year, the Peachduro, which is this coming weekend. Totally not in shape cardio wise, so going to try to just have fun and hopefully fun pace is still fast!
our Enduro is nearly all pedaling. (kickapoo Enduro at Kickapoo state park mountain bike trails) 12 hour and 6 hour options. 20 mile loops. the leaders in the 12 hour enduro will cover 5 loops. That's a ton of pedaling.
I worked on the dryland training for one of the athletes that came out just ahead of you, probably a good thing we worked on his cardio cause he only had about 4 rides in 2022 in before that race
Awesome vid!! Interesting, what heat did you take off in? I went in first heat and seeing things were flagged better than the heat I went in!! couple of corners I missed were actually flagged in your video. Lost alot of time cause of little to no flagging...
Interesting local rule: crash & burn = a mulligan. Congrats to both of you.
Yeah, that is a bit odd. But then again, he's doing at least part of an extra stage, and there's not much on the line.
Team Trail Party Enduros allow unlimited runs. Its the best format for sure.
Nice work ya rippers! I think you could have gained 10 placings by fixing your placard 😆, Seriously though such great effort both of you. I have this race on my list. Quick tip (because this the internet and everyone has advice haha) try Skratch in your water bottle it should help with the cramps. Looking forward to watching your race in Whistler🤘🤘
I also really like Hyland's tabs you can dissolve under your tongue. I'll look into the Skratch!
Can't wait to see you McGovern lad, sweet shop 🤙🤙
Hahahaha. Me either buddy. What a tune 🤣
Awesome 🤩🤘🔥
Salt stick pills are a life saver for cramps and racing
I was so chapped I couldn't ride that race! It slipped my mind and by the time I went to register it was sold out! Might be a mixed blesing though, buys me an extra year to train my peddaling legs 🦵 🤣 looked like a blast! Congrats to all the racers!
LOL, I know what it feels like being a town full of Olympic calibre athletes! It's the same in Rossland.
Good luck in Whistler!
So...Much...Cramp... 😆
I blame leg 2.
Great recap of a fun day, thanks guys!
I doubt that there is enduro races within 100 miles of me. I live at the beach in NC. The closest hills are 4 hours away.
Riding in my group the creak would have got left behind. Lol
Good one keepemcoming
The hardest part of enduros for me is waiting in the lines between stages. It can be so inconsistent.
@loamranger - looks like you have a scammer account mocking you!
Hi, quick question, do you use a microphone on your go pro, i mean during the riding scenes? Or is it just the build in mic?
Does it count as local if your state has its own series
Research the effect Tums antacids aka calcium carbonate, has on cramps. Might interest you.
I’ll check that out! Thanks
Nice guys!!, props to both. Not to be critical, James may want to look at his front fork set-up. It appears to be a couple lbs too hard or maybe compression isn't quite set right. James you're getting studder slap even coming out of the corners when there is no braking. That to me suggest you might have a smidge more control if you let the front forks work a little more for you on the small bumps. I'd also look at air pressure in the tires, but it looks a lot like a smidge too hard of a front fork. Likely a leftover from bike park riding where things were bigger. Maybe take a look and think about? Shred wise and shred well my friends. Best wishes from the U.S. fan!
Thanks for the comment dude, that's a very keen eye you have. The night before the race I did the classic thing I always do (and know I shouldn't) and changed my suspension setup COMPLETELY. which is 100% the reason I crashed so quickly. Since the race I've softened the forks a bit and it's been far better.
I've always been a tweaker of my settings and have a good understanding of what works and what doesn't, I guess that day was just a brain fart day.
Happy shredding my dude!
Please zip tie the number board to the bars/head tube haha
Pickle juice for cramps, it's a miracle worker for me.
Quick question: what handlebar width do you have here?
For me? I’m usually 780, but I’m trying out 770 this season. So far… haven’t noticed a difference 😂
@@TheLoamRanger yeah. 780 to 770 doesn't make a difference. I think jump by 20mm is more noticeable. I had 800 and moved to 780. Now thinking to try 760 as majority has. But... I'm afraid. If I cut to 760 and don't feel improvement. I can't go back. Well... I can, by buying new handlebar :D
Not the number board tied to the cables!
I was at the Nordic center few weeks ago and my main bike was broken so I had to ride my BMX and I read soft yogurt and FYI
Nicely done!
Hi! Can anyone tell me what eyewear is James using?
They are Smith Wildcats. I've had two pairs. They're perfect for me because there is no distortion and they come with two lenses. Quite pricey though
@@Jamesyshreds Thank you, James! Now I'll have to decide between those and the Sutro Lite Sweep.
I've never heard of someone being allowed to rerun a stage because they crashed.
Cutting corners, redoing stages because you crash. All the things that make a fun local race fun and fair for everyone! Love to see it!
did the sarcasim come through okay?
what are james’ clear glasses ?
Smith wild cat
problem I have with local enduro races is I'm paying money (a substantial amount) to ride trails I ride for free. I'd rather spend that money on something else.
Interesting take. Your local trails alliance could likely use some support to keep your trails in great shape.
It can’t cost that much right?
@@StrongerThanBigfoot They really do. Scottish enduro series was £110 at Fort William and is £90 at Pitfichie. more local stuff is £60
I hated every crank of the pedals on that race. 🥴🥵
👍👍
are you gonna be at joyride?
He is there bro. Go find him 😉
cramp repair try protein and calcium
Fuck up your race run and you get to rerun it?! Not really fair on everyone else that! Mistakes is racing!
Good job guys!!! BTW I'm kinda surprised you guys don't wear more protection on these races... then again you're way better than I am... but having just been on a ride with a guy who crashed GENTLY and still broke two ribs, I'm gonna be wearing more gear when I ride from now on.
Good call man, gotta be comfortable to ride well! I can't speak for these guys but the nordic centre is right in their backyard. Like literally across the street so I'd guess they're just really familiar with the terrain and have plenty of experience on those trails, makes it easier to have the confidence without the armor.
Also Ryan was saying it was pretty hot so I'd happily sacrifice a chest and back protector for more water retention. Personally I'd race that in a half shell with knee pads and be cool with it.
Normally I’d wear more protection, but between it being incredibly hot and a blue/light-black rated race, I made the call that I’d take scraped elbows over heat stroke 😂🥵 I’ll definitely be more geared up for Whistler!
one advice: dont use those dh michelin tyres on races they are suppeerrrr slow
No gloves 😮
You ride better when you don't talk to the camera. I understand why just saying you could have gotten better results with your focus on the race.
I feel like it’s a better video without the narration the whole time
I feel like it’s a better video without the narration the whole time
I mean, i like riding my bike. But i just don't see the fun factor at all in racing. Would ruin biking for me.
