as riley said.."This game will bring you to your knees"......I respect this man so much...he won his way....Popovich and Jackson are great too in their own ways but riley has proven h could do it all..player coach gm college star..you name it...he won it all..if only he won game with in 95 with the knicks..is legend would be even better..instead miami got him lol..so I'm glad he lost cause that forced him to leave ...he said screw this
It’s really True the winners write the history. Towards the late 80s especially 89, the laker players hated Pat and more than likely lost the 89 championship for his unrelenting boot camp practices.
Pat knows what was going on
Pat Riley come on you know how the people in the south felt! Adolf Rupp your coach told you and the team how they felt. You may have felt that you were just playing against a team and not five black guys but your coach did. Everybody knows how Adolf Rupp felt about black people. Adolf Rupp would have a fit if he saw the Kentucky basketball program today.⛹🏾♀️
He sure would 😂😂
Riley is from Upstate NY....so he didnt grow up in the South....
the guy's name is Adolf lol
You are completely clueless... None of what you are saying is true. I played high school basketball for Coach Rupps son, Herky,...You are simply spewing the usual line
@@yixie6830 u do know adolf rupp was born in 1901 right?
THAT 🏆 CHAMPIONSHIP GAME CHANGED THE RECRUITING ACROSS THE GLOBE 🌎 I BELIEVE SO . PLAYERS OF COLOR WHERE SAUGHT FOR ON A SERIOUS LOOK TO PLAY AT MAJOR UNIVERSITIES 🤫 QUIET AS KEPT U DIGG .
Heck Showtime Lakers were inspired by that 1966 Texas Western team
I’m surprised no one talks about this huge upset that the miners did against Kentucky
Riley scored 20 in the game...he was about all the O K had.
I am very familiar with Adolph Rupp. I played high school basketball for his son Herky went to UK in 66 and personally knew Riley and two other players. I will trade my experiences and knowledge of that era with your ‘opinions” all day
Elaborate please
Okay dude try to explain without the excuses behind the truth lol don’t act innocent
Any person that uses “dude” can’t be trusted to carry on any meaningful
Conversation.
@@andyzuleta5344 act innocent, now there’s a new one
@@roberttaylor914 and you think others like you are meaningful as well ? Shit the fuck up
Me encantó la traducción
Will be more than glad to offer my facts as opposed to your opinions
Riley is a Celtic fan's worst nightmare
4 years later and this still rings true lol
I am familiar with a great many interviews and none them remotely suggest the opinions of those posting on this, 95% of these people weeent even born in 1966
Any of you clowns know who Jim tucker, Wes unselfish, Clem Haskins or Butch beard were. I doubt you know your subject very well
Lol Pat was like they're just 5 guys okay?...and? Let's do this shit and play some ball damn nigga don't have to get all political about it 😂
I don't blame you for not being harsh on your couch, fans, and players. I'll give you a pass on that one. I forgive them.
To me this was the beginning of the end of a time when, I had to, pee my pants as a child because there were no bathrooms available for colored children.
That game has implications beyond basketball.
I don’t believe what he is saying. I know his coach reminded them about who they were playing.
Well you are a liar
Kentucky played a number of predominantly black schools during the year anything was ever mentioned about race
You ere very uninformed. Like most people
By the way… Kentucky beat Duke the game before. Duke had NO black players that year. Was Duke a racist school? Was Vic Bubbas a racist as well?
North Carolina had no black players then. Was Dean Smith a racist?
😂😂😂😂 bro c'mon your talking about Kentucky in the 60s
After hearing him say this and watching the movie I gotta admit I lost alittle respect for Riley
Coach B how ??? He said he didn’t look at them as 5 black players but as 5 basketball players.
Junior Singh How can you not acknowledge the significance of playing a small ass school that has 5 black starters. That’s not some normal national championship
That small school was in the top 5 all year and should’ve won it all in ‘64. They had respect, I can see Reilly’s point of view
Riley is from Upstate NY...so I'm assuming he went to school with blacks before moving to Kentucky.
@@Thesublime1459 Riley played on the team that beat Alcindor in 63 in the state championship. The only school to defeat Lewis. Schenectady Linton
Better blame the SEC. non integration was an sec rule, not Kentucky’s. Sorry that you are so uninformed about this subject
And Jack Johnson was beaten by the giant Willard, they all lose at some point, and Willard the giant was cut down by a David like Jack Dempsey, the UK needed a big man that night say a Dan Issel.
And we're all sorry that you're such an angry prick about an historic game.
Rupp was a helluva coach. he was a racist. but , a helluva coach .
Kansas beat them.
Jo Jo Whkte
He stepped out of bounds which negated his shot. Kansas loss just accept it
@@skytime9 Lol I wasn't even born yet.
But I've been alive and a FAN of 88/08/22 Nattys!
NATIONAL CHAMPIONS 2022 KU
Check the film, White made a great shot but he was out of bounds.
White was out of bounds
why all the white guys on texas western team
We weren't prejudiced. We welcomed everyone.
He lost. What a losrr.
Texas western started one white player, Jerry Armstrong for most all of the games prior to that game
