What are your favorite free pianos?
🎼 Hooktheory! ► hooktheory.com/affiliate/209.html
Novel Piano-Free
runs on Halion Sonic SE-Free
has three modes in it
That winter piano!!!! None of my Kontakt libraries have that sound. Thanks VT!
Soundpaint's 1928 piano is free and absolutely amazing to play and customize.
Not free, 40 day trial. TruePiano. The Diamond module (not in the demo) is a fabulous crystal clear grand the most expressive modelled piano there is, better than Pianoteq
MeldaProduction Monastery Grand is pretty amazing. I also like Soundpaint's 1928 Steinway
Fun fact: The person behind Claustrophobic and Autumn Piano is Christian Henson who is the founder of Pianobook and the creator of Labs Soft Piano
I am grateful to him for offering such amazing sampled instruments for free
EDIT: Winter Felt is made by him as well
Totally. He deserves some sort of MVP award for making cool pianos so widely available for free.
Does he make any interesting non-piano libraries as well?
haha it's a small world afterall ;) yea his work is outstanding we live in a wonderous era of high quality professional free VSTs
@@grimpiece He's the co-founder of Spitfire Audio.
@@seanvgmusic3630 That's cool, however I think I meant is there any other free non-piano libraries by him ;)
The whole spitfire labs series is absolutely worth picking up for free
Isn't it ?
They'd be worth paying for ... but free !!!
What a Gift
@@KozmykJ the pianos, strings and trumpets are worth a hell of a lot more than free
Been slowly downloading the entire Labs collection over a 600kbps cellular hotspot. Yes, Labs is worth the download wait.
I had constantly problems with the software, library not found, samples not found, license invalid etc etc, uninstall, reinstall, download this, verify that, no thanks! I removed anything from LABS from my system now. Fed up with this $h^t!
When i play the soft piano in LABS i get this click sound everytime i press a sertain note & it's kinda annoying.
Does some have a solution to get rid of that sound?
My personal favorite use of Claustrophobic is to narrow it's stereo field and then pair it with a brighter piano at a lower level that I push into a wide stereo field and gently flowing reverb - it ends up having this sense of being extremely close with Claustrophobic piano, but then a spacious brightness that fills the space, which for me leads to a really intimate, contemplative place. It takes a bit of mixing so it isn't obviously two pianos, but I find having most of the reverb tail being on a bright, low volume piano makes Claustrophobic shine all the more!
This is quickly becoming my most favourite music making / sounddesign / sw / hw gear / whatever related to music making channel on YT .. amazing amount of content, amazing quality (not just by content but also technically - appreciate video / sound quality) - extremely appreciated !
dude, you said the best camera thing and I instantly subscribed your channel. Thank you for this. Starting today.
This is really really cool, first list I've seen that consistently lists solid options, as well as no repeats from other videos I've seen
That was a very inspiring video! Those sounds really moved me, and conjured up cinematic imagery and drama that had me feeling breathless. So wonderful to have these composing tools at our fingertips! Thanks for making these videos. I look forward to every one!
Glad I came Across your channel man! You got great, thorough and honest perspectives. That's definitely needed in this industry. Thank you my friend
Oh sweet, was literally just looking for good piano sounds this morning. Thanks!
I totally agree with you. I've been saying for ages that the best instruments for making music are the ones you have, not the ones you wish you had. I have had folks wonder why I use an MT-32. It's because I have one, and still find it useful. Same with my music room speakers. I use 2 RCF 12's, supplemented by a couple of tweeters - again, because these are what I have.
I'm here just to say this: wow.
Came for the title and leaving the video with a mind blowing creative lesson. Thnk u for such a class.
Not gonna lie. I used to skip over your videos as soon as you said, "Howdy doody, Buckaroonies!" When I finally gave you a chance, I've come to a point where I look forward to coffee with Cameron every Monday, and make sure to try out whatever new instrument, effect or technique you're showing off, by the end of the day. (Continue to) use your powers for good!
Wow I was looking for a cool piano for a song and these vst are nuts!! Thank you!
Two mins in I subscribed because I just like your energy. And this was before I even received the info I came for. Your a cool dude!
the thing you played in spindle sounded so nice
I’ve been following you for a while now, and I love your videos, but it was only with this video that I really came to appreciate your playing. Very nice! Clearly I need to download Christian Henson’s pianos so I can start playing like you! :-) Thanks for sharing, you’re a star!
I love this channel SO MUCH ! 🙏🏼
Damn right it inspired me! Another cool video Cameron. Thanks!
As always thank you for the heads up on these 👍👍👍
Beautiful sounding Pianos, thanks for sharing.
Nice one Prof. V, loving your work. Christian Henson is one of the great unsung heroes of our profession, I hadn’t heard Claustrophobic Piano but it sounds and plays wonderful(ly).
I've been looking for a nice piano for a while. That autumn piano gave me a little tingle. Several little tingles, actually. Thanks.
Good info on these plug-ins. Thanks
Beautiful piece with just the Claustrophobic piano. Amazing how you can somehow alter time itself with sparse playing.
That was much more inspiring than I anticipated 😱
dude, seriously thanks a lot for this vid, I really needed some good sounding piano plugins cuz I was tired of using keyzone by bitsonic.
Great tips Cam 👍
I already had Glass Piano.
I just installed Orchestral Tools and Spindle feels great.
I'm just off to try the Decent Sample ones now ...
Thanks for these ...
The Decent Sample ones were brill too.
No surprise there.
Awesome video man, you really inspired me.
Heyy congraz on the 100K! Channels like this help people like me keep the dream alive.
Thought I'd give it a watch even though I tend to stick with Vienna Imperial for almost all my piano needs. Some really interesting stuff here, amazing that they're all free.
What a great video, thank you!
I've been wanting to pick up keyscape for awhile, but these free pianos are changing my mind :b
Love your videos, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!
Great sounds!
Thanks a lot for all this and the inspiration. Unfortunately most of the plugins (autumn, winter, claustrophobic) are not any longer available. Any idea where to find them or alternatives ? Agin many thanks.
Winter Felt Piano is nowhere to be found online anymore. Can you please provide a link to the Decent Sampler version? THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!
I love this alot actually! Its literally making me some inspiration for some Phonk Wave tracks coming up in my head!
Claustrophobic and Autumn the best pianos. They sounds rlly nice
Was just about to watch this, and then realised I have all five of those pianos, but decided to watch it anyway. Great choice.
Gonna try that spitfire this weekend! Nice meeting you at Knobcon @Venus Theory !!!
08:35 "Like a chunk of ice lost at sea" 😂
Claustrophobic, Autumn and Winter felt Piano are not longer on pianobook, it says page not found.
I got the same message when I googled "Lost Medieval Servant Boy"
Great Mic, so clear, sounds like listening to the radio
Hook theory is great. Even if you don't learn the chords by heart. You just get a feeling for it once you start understanding it.
I remember when I was About 15 Yrs old (1984) all I had was my first 2 track reel to reel . If we could’ve just looked into the future and glimpsed , the museum of Musical tech at our fingertips,…Today … I just have an I-pad pro ,Cubasis 3 , bought the fire wire and C adapter’ s for usb hook up ,…and instead of going with a smaller controller, I decided to buy like a plain Williams digital piano about 250. 300 bucks …that way I’ll have the weighted keys and real feel of a piano,…worked out nicely,.. love your videos great work producing them and all the work you must put into making them,..they’re very helpful and enjoyable to watch, I’ve taught myself & played piano and Guitar ever since back then, my biol/ father is a Jazz Pianist but split when I was 2 , but I owe a lot to my grandad who bought my first reel to reel for me ,..sending me on a dubbing spree,..
Wonderful sounding creation you’ve made
Keep ‘em comin
This has inspired me greatly. Thank you. What Daw are you using?
What a fantastic voice you have man !!!!!! wow
man ur voice God bless u brother for ur help
Amazing. The final experiment song made me remember The Book of Eli OST.
Some how the track you created made me want to give up on all my hopes and dreams. Great video!
Wow, great recommendations! Made my day! Is it just me or are most of the download links broken?
I've been a denizen of internet audio forums since, well, since forums were a thing...
Can't tell you how many times I've had the plugin question. Best answer ever was from mastering engineer John Scrip of Massive Mastering:
Use what you need, with the settings you need, when you need it.
Fantastic info man.. i love it.. and i just know about sine player.. its amazing.. while i get along with kontak player..
The melodies you played in this video are so beautiful! I wish I could play them too😔 are these real songs or did you just play by ear?
Kool stuff!! 👍🏼
Thank you!!
What a voice. Beautiful deep liquid undertones.
I love that Spitfire sent people to sample Philip Glass' own piano in New York for the LABS Glass Piano, it just sounds like him. Thanks for sharing all these gems. Also, hope you're ok and life is treating you well.
Is Philip Glass a better composer than Philip Claustrophobic or Philip Autumn though?
there is nothing in the link you provided (clausterphobic piano) where can I get this one? great vid btw! thanks!
bro your videos are dope 🔥
Loved this review, plus the jokes and comic timing are.....perfect! 😁. .and Spitfire is hard to beat full stop.
Poolz has an AMAZING track... called "Wondering Why". Incredible piano on that tune.
2 minutes into the video, before you’ve even begun to show any of the pianos and I’ve already hit that subscribe button 😂
Love the content and the pace with which you present everything.
Thank you for the suggestions 🙏🏼
Just WOW for the last part.
I'm going to check these out.
I Watched This Video More Than Once, Not That I Didn't Get Everything From The First Time But I Come Back For Your Voice
I've been making lots of music for the past year or so and I've used basically exclusively free plugins, the only two exceptions being the analog lab and gentleman piano that came with my Arturia $100 min keyboard and I haven't *needed* either of those once.
Never could ask for a better coverage for such high quality plugins. And for free??
Great stuff; very valuable to orient oneself in the ocean of options. Just a question: do you happen to know what happened to Winter Felt and Autumn pianos? Pianobook does not have them anymore (broken links) 😔😔😔
Good day, sir. Great work :) ✌️
Super cool. Thank you so much.
Any free alternative to the Eventide Reverb, to come close to that? 😬👉👈 Valhalla Supermassive, maybe? Could that work?
wonderful video!
so much Olafur Arnalds vibe piano and it's so beautiful
I only recently started to mess around with music production and your content and little "homework" assignments have been an incredible source of inspiration! :) Quick question: what is your professional opinion on the free Soundpaint 1928 Vintage Grand Steinway?
It is great and Soundpaint is quite powerful. Worth your time 4 sure.
You need a late night radio show. Your voice is perfect for it.
Nice to see someone who is 1) not afraid of ppp 2) not afraid of not mainstream 3) articulate
there's also Soundpaint's Piano 1928 Vintage Steinway, and it's also free and pretty good!
That second one is just perfect for some video game music
Cannot seem to find the Claustrophobic piano anywhere. Is the download no longer available? ):
me too :(
in between making music and videos for this channel you should be a comedian, you'd have a sold out comedy tour. subbed cause you made me laugh xD love your humor, thanks for letting us know about these plugins!
With everything going on in the world and the pain it has caused I haven't made much music for quite some time
Your knowledge, passion and execution truly inspire and encourage me to get back into it. I miss it so much but I just haven't felt up to it. I'm slowly getting my mojo back and you are a key component in facilitating it.
Thank you brother. I appreciate you.
@j.du6
That pain is something you can channel directly into an expression through music! It really is one of the best places to put pain.
did you mean to make that pun?
Lately I've been using soundpaint's free piano. It's especially nice how you can morph it with their other (sadly paid) libraries.
Was going to suggest SoundPaint's free 1928 Steinway - they've got a couple of other free libraries that are well worth checking out too...
They've got some other free stuff. A lot ofgood ambience sounds
So you think instrument builders should just build everything for free. Otherwise it's "sad."
@@slartibartfast1268 I bet you're real fun at parties too
1:41 "You don't need a plugin you are the plugin"
Spindel sounds so good
thank you very much❤
great voice, so asmr
Everything you said in the beginning is true, however, Spitfire Audio has a collection of free vsts that vastly improved a few songs I created in Ableton Live Lite using only the stock MIDI instruments.
The Ratio Grand piano for SinePlayer is also really nice.
maaaan…. besides the content … i love yor voice! you should record some bedtime stories!
the autumn piano reminds me of Yazoo's (the British duo) "Winter Kills" .
Steinway Grand by Jon Mayer from Piano Book also is a very good sound gran piano, clean and soft to make our souls fly searching for peace!
these pianobook vst are not longer in the website, where can we find them now?
ah vaquero - good info - Cheers!
I am new to this. "Plugin" suggests it needs another piece of software where this vst needs to be installed to. Is this correct? If so, what software program would that be?
Hi good video, Claustrophobic Piano is not more for download...any have the plugin for share to me please? thanks.
I really feel i missed the opportunity to learn Piano when in school...
Guess i'll start now, but i need a simple MIDI keyboard
I have FL Studio, and it comes with a beautiful piano already that I use a lot. (Or did until my PC crashed). The stage grand is awesome.
I think people mainly need to learn how to use their DAW. You can take the same stage grand, and change the sound of it using some of the plug ins that come with the program. You can have the piano soft, ambient, or whatever.
Maybe that is sound design, but I just like seeing what the program can do, because I can't afford to buy extra VSTs and plug ins.
You know the plugins featured in this video are free... right?
@@nkogliaz Yep! But ones that are stock are also free. I was just trying to point out that you can change the sounds of some of the stock pianos to create new sounding ones.
There are some other really nice downloadable free pianos that I would love to try, but forgot which ones. I'll have to see if I can find them and post them here as well.
@@nkogliazI found one. The 1928 vintage grand Steinway from Soundpaint. I actually had the pleasure of playing a real 1928 Steinway. I think the samples they offer are better than the one I played, because the piano was tuned to precision to collect the samples.
Facts you can do so much with your daw!
The main point here is a good one. Find a nice full-range piano that provides enough control over tone, envelope, etc. Then you can modify it to the musical context. that's why I am not a big fan of all these muted pianos that seem so popular. They are one-trick ponies. maintaining lots of plugins for one-off use is inefficient.
The links don’t work for claustrophobic autumn and winterfelt piano
hi, I loved your video. Thanks! I can not find any of the Pianobook pianos. Does anybody know where are there sounds now? thanks in advance. Regards from Germany
