    I did this on my Q60 red sport and worked great. All I did was spend about 89.00 on 3inch silicon inlets, bought my own clamps, and two of the spectre filters. Way better than spending 500+ on the commercial ones and it sounds sick. Don't see any heatsoak on my data logs either. Thanks for the vid dude!

    Did this today, thanks for the video. And to anyone who’s asking about if it’s ok to run. They say in the forums that the stock intake is good to up to 400hp so you don’t really need another one unless you’re getting a bigger turbo I think

    Even without the shield I feel like the Evo position for the intake is nicely designed to point away from the engine to avoid heat. Sounds nice and low chance of losing any power

      Except that the AC fan blows hot air on the intake, so the shield helps to block that.

    Just tried this today and test drive my car and im pretty surprised how it sounds CRAZY whenever i hit boost! Although im wondering if you have an upgraded turbo or something coz i dont hear that whistling/spooling sound on mine. Just that loud air sucking noise.

    If I were to run this with an accessport, would you do stage 1 as all stock, or would you do stage 1 with a “drop in filter?” If I was all stock except for this

    But i believe after some time engine light would come on air fuel ratio less error should just fit the aem intake its expensive but quality

      sunny sandhu I ran mine for 3 months with No tune and never got a check engine, as well as this blue one that is completely stock and I also did this on the grey Evo x I feature. No check engines on any of them. Not saying it’s not possible but 3 for 3 no issues. Getting a more expensive intake such as the aem would not have a difference if you are worried about a check engine light. That actually would change it further away from the stock set up like this. Flow is most likely a bit better on the rear piping section but noticeable on a dyno for 10x’s the price...??? Debatable BUT preference for what you want depending on where your going with your build.

      I've run an AEM CAI for 2 years now and if I didn't get a pro-tune right after installing it, I'd be running a new engine by now. It wasn't giving me a CEL for AFR, but it was switching to low Octane map because of the knock counts sky rocketing to 14 counts which is pretty crazy. COBB OTS flashes to the AEM MAF and MAP tables made it even worse. It's all about the MAF tubing size/volume, AEM boxes come with a drastically different sized MAF housing tube.

    Sold my dad my evo about a year and a half ago. He’s worried that it would throw off the maf sensor. Does it pop up any codes/lights?

    barely gonna pickup my evo in about a week or two and i’m debating on doing this. also debating on keeping the warranty.. would this void the warranty ??

      Enrique Martinez I recommend a pro tune day one even without upgraded parts. The stock base tunes are horrible BUT that being said it’s Not needed for this mod. Won’t over boost or throw any codes, just a lot more turbo noise!

    Awesome write up my dude!. I followed it to a t but I'm getting a lot of fluttering and I dont think I'm building up boost. I dropped in a k&n filter and everything is tight. Any ideas?

    If noise is all you want could you drill the standard airbox or does that not make any noise?

      If you opened it up enough I suppose you may hear a little more but with the heat shield from the hot fans this install is super cheap to try before drilling the box out. Worst case with the filter you don’t like it atleast you could go back to stock again

      An easy and cheap way for more noise is a high flow drop in filter. Drops straight in factory air box, I Put one in mine and noticed air suction sounds straight away sounds awesome, paired with an aftermarket BOV or recirc valve also makes nice noises when letting off throttle 👍

      The 10 is pig rich on the stock ROM. You will see it lean out some which I believe is good 👍.....also get a wideband before doing engine mods, just my 2cent.

      NO you do NOT need a tune after this is installed!

      stock maf housing = no tune. Change that piece and it's 100% tune time.

      EVO NATION Car will be getting a tune soon but In the mean time he won’t have any issues as I personally didn’t for months as well as two other locals we’ve done the same filter set up on. 4 different evos and no engine codes. Every Evo needs a tune day one regardless

      @@xtra_slo1596 was going to get one for my evo x and a bov too but was told to leave oem parts on can mess up sst ecu and engine without a remap I've had remap done now made better hp with stock parts do love the sound off aftermarket one's but like hp more lol

      @@evonation630 I run an MR, the AEM CAI came highly recommended for handling AFR's with the no-lift-shift aspect of the SST but it really needed a pro-tune. Lifting off the throttle vs shifting with it mashed on the floor is a completely different ball game GSR owners can't relate to ;) Don't bother with a BOV unless it's actually failing psi testing, the stock is still holding strong and I'm running 28lbs @ 4200 RPM tapering down to 24lbs @ 7400 RPM's. The thing is a beast but power chasing above 400 at the wheel is much more complicated than the GSR. Good luck, and change that Diaqueen SST every 10,000 miles..$600 today can save you $17,000 tomorrow :D

      I got mine live tuned by Simon Norton turbo kicks in at 2.5k now alot better then stock can feel the punch when you floor it running 400 torque and 400 hp unfortunately I have got the dreaded ayc pump failure now so going to replace and move it inside the boot still running stock Airbox just a new intercooller from mishimotto boosting to 30lbs and holding to 7500 revs so good investment. I get my sst oil done every 8k cost about £380 but as you say alot cheaper then a new box lol keep up the good work

      @@evonation630 400/400 at 2700 rpm on a stock airbox and just an intercooler? Not possible. Plus 400 torque will kill the SST. The limit is 347. Yours is likely 300/300 on a dyno mate. Been there, have hundreds of logs a long the way.

      Nicholas Mangione 🤣 To each their own. Get the k&n 3” opening if you like that better or spend the extra cash on a pricey one. These cheap ones have been proven multiple time to get the job done. If full bolt ons is the end of your build then buy an ets but if wanting to grow way past that then save that money for the short time. 381 wheel hp with this intake an exhaust and e85 only.

    This most likely does nothing for performance. Probably hurts it more then anything, especially without a tune. Cheap filter. And most likely sucking up hot air from the radiator fans, in turn throwing off maf readings. The oem inlet hose is still stock diameter. Like I said just useless, turning evos into civics out here.

      Nico Freeman So the heat shield we put on is directly for the heat exposer from those fans. Just like a expensive intake which has the same location and open filter you shouldn’t really see any performance gains. Also not saying this one is better then any other but has proven itself. If you think this a cheap filter then the k&n fits the exact same. Stock inlet pipe compared to the expensive metal ones is like a quarter inch with a tune the difference would be petty. The grey Evo on channel made 381wheel hp with this filter an exhaust and e85. Half bolt ons. Try not to be so negative about things... hope you have a good day 👍🏼
