The big box is probably for the marketing. If you've noticed with lego in general... the more expensive the set the bigger the box. You throw your money at lego, you get a nice big box to make it feel like you're buying something substantial.
They hiked the price up by 10 bucks for this set in Australia. So it better come with a bigger box.
I don't think collectors would welcome a bigger box if storage is tight.
I like the colorful nature of the skyline sets. That's why I collect them. But at the same time I am also very disappointed by the box.
Lots of people seem to like colorful sets, so shows what I know 🤔
I'm 67. I grew up with LEGO, my children grew up with it and in the last year, I have returned to some LEGO kits and trying my hand at my own VERY SIMPLE designs. I bought and built the "Singapore" set. I lack the experience to properly criticize it for quality and accuracy ,but I rather enjoyed building it and think it looks nice on my shelf. Then, I had an idea and built a large, long alien starship (my own design), and mounted it above the three blue towers using a clear rod at its balance point. So it looks like an alien invasion with the starship hovering over the city. Kind of dumb, perhaps, but it's fun to imagine things and make them. Thank you very much for this most interesting video. You are not the only one being unhappy how Lego is developing at the moment.
In Germany a couple of UA-camrs aren‘t happy about the new City-Sets. They compared price, quality of the build and amount of stones with City-sets sold by Lidl. Lego got quite a beating.

Greetings from Germany! Yeah many are not happy how things are going. Fortunately there are other brands like BlueBrixx, Cobi, Mouldking or Xingbao (since some are from China the quality is not the best but there were significant improvements over the last years) The box is really large compared to what's inside...
As someone has family in Singapore and has lived there before for about a year and visits often the brightness of the set is appropriate as some thing are that bright and vivid in colour when there in person.
This box sucks! The old boxes are so much better. Considering that these are really for adult collectors, having a nice box to store the set in if you don't have it out on display is important to me. As for the set, I like it, but if they want me to keep spending my money on architecture sets, they better up their game on the set and go back to the old boxes, I'm willing to pay a few extra bucks just for a nice box!

The instructions are getting cheap. Especially if you ever did the fallingwater set, man that's a nice book that opens flat. Then you really notice a quality cliff
One architecture set a year is disappointing I hope they are not phasing the set out.
