If you like doing the work, go for it! I started about a month ago and have already made some money and it's something I enjoy! And it's inexpensive to start. One of the best business someone can start, in my opinion.
Pan, I’ve been detailing for about two years now and am ready to go on my own. I’ve got an opportunity and am ready to take it starting this spring. Would you have an email I could reach out and get some more insight on a few questions I have. Thanks
Hey, I'm 33 and believe I'm more than interested in this line of work. Is there anywhere I can contact you? I have alot of questions on how to start up.
Hi Dhaval. I highly encourage you to go through my collection of 600 videos on my channel. There should be everything that you need to learn about detailing. However, I don't operate a business so I wouldn't be able to help you on that specific topic. And as you can imagine with a channel the size of mine, with over 600,000 subscribers and millions watching, I get flooded with thousands of e-mails and messages every day so it's impossible for me to help everyone and respond to everyone. I mainly focus on answering short questions on UA-cam as you can see here. And I spend up to three hours each day just replying to comments. It can get overwhelming. But thanks for watching and thanks for supporting my channel. Have a great day.
🌌You guy’$ are great✨We Started Detailling from 2007 own a 2001 Jaguar gold s-type a 2005 BMW Alpine White 745. LI all stallion black 2001Suzuki grand-Vitara plus More Car’s our car are the Cleanest✅on our Island🗺Thank you all👍🏾
I've always like washing my cars since I was 16 yrs old I'm 33 now and still like to wash my cars and people have paid me to was their car but now im trying to save up to buy equipment to start my business.
First 2 cars I ever detailed 10 hrs each... 100. Per car... the year was 1992. Been in detail biz now for 27 years... started in California 10 years Now also in WA 17 years. Great biz. Advantages, low cost of entry, unlimited customer potential, today everyone knows what detailing is at least generally. Understand, this is a buisness there is a ton to learn and it’s not as easy as you might think... I’ve trained 20-30 people very few went on to last more than a couple years on their own. Even the best detailer may not make it. Having said that, if you want it bad enough, you can absolutely make a good living...
Another excellent video. 3:40 Huge point. Over communicate to ensure you understand exact;y what they want. Also, when they do the final inspection, follow their eyes to see where they look. It is very telling and can easily be generalized to typical customer behavior. To expand on point #3, I waited too long to start asking customers for (and giving them an incentive to) refer me (make it easy by giving a referral card that leads to your website). I also waited too long to be more obvious about asking customers to review me on Google and Yelp, but once I encouraged them to do so, it added to my online credibility and further strengthen some SEO tactics I was using. #5 How you come across on the phone is super important in addition to the points covered in this video. I merged my phone script and customer information sheet (I am old school and use a piece of paper for each customer, not a CRM) and I can tell when I am asking the right amount of questions in order to show that I really give a rip without inundating them with too much time spent on the phone from the outset (some questions can be saved for the initial walk-around). If I may be so bold, I would like to respectfully add a #6 - Learn Ad Words! And then run a campaign. And then adjust it to dial in on what works given your geographical location and clientele. Once I did all of this and got good at it (and I have very few skills on the interwebs) the phone started ringing off the hook. I get no kickback from Google for promoting them, I just know how quickly it worked and continues to work. I really wish I would have done it years ago. -Joe www.MakeMyAutoShine.com
Hey Joe! I know this is now a long time ago but, Nice comment and very attractive website 👌I'm new to the whole detailing gig. I've been looking into it for the last year and watched well endless amount of really useful information. If you have the time in your busy schedule to give some pointers and tips I would be much appreciated! And forwarding email maybe? Thanks a bunch and kept up the work. 👍
Great informative vid Pan and Rag Co.! Awesome tips guys! Come on Pan what up with presentation and those white pale legs? Your cordially invited to Honduras, Central America. A great Caribbean country for a lot of canadians that already love it, to get some Tan on Pan 😁
Lololol !!! Thanks for the invite Ivan! However, even when I spend weeks in Greece (my dad is from there) in 40 Celsius weather, I still can’t tan. I just get red, then back to white... 😂😂😂
Hi Pan, great tips there.. been subscribing and watching your videos for a while.. one question, how to manage going mobile and doing everything under shade (not all the customers par in a garage), not to mention when doing ceramic coating..
Im looking to start my own detailing business and the hardest thing I'm finding is to attract customers so far i have a Instagram and Facebook setup and have had 0 customers. Any tips?

Research what detailers around your area are charging and use that as a start. Most of the time, they will charge a little bit more because they have been around more, but that's what I did and so far, it has been very good for me!

the crude reality of this business is that 99.9% dont give a shit how their car looks, you need contacts with people that have nice cars and money to pay for the service, thats the reality of the car detailing world, if you like detailing do it for free to family and friends cause as a way of life is too difficult to get customers.
I beg to differ Alex. There are thousands and thousands of detailers in the USA alone who make detailing their livelihoods. And many people are passionate about keeping their cars clean. Just have a look at the dozens and dozens of detailing channels with millions of views... Maybe it’s not for you, but I disagree that 99.9% of people don’t care. Detailing products on its own is a multi-million (possibly billion) dollars business. If nobody cared, those companies would have gone broke, don’t you think. Food for thought.

Why nobody use steamer to wash a car?
Some do in some countries. But here in North America (Canada & USA), water is an abundant natural ressource and so we use it to wash cars.
Love the tips. Really something to always keep in mind 👍🏻
Thanks Arun!
