This actually brings tears to my eyes as this great piece of equipment will be replaced completely by computers eventually. It's sad that future generations will not know how great their recordings can sound going thru this magnificent console. Even if they will put their hands on one, they will not know how to use it properly. I really miss the days where the studio was this magic place with the huge console in the middle, the tape machine in the back and no computer monitors showing wave forms. Those were the days you made music with your ears not your eyes... If you ever mixed thru one of those you know, no plugin can emulate the sound that comes out of this beast. Thanks for a great video!

Makes me nostalgic to see this. This week we install an Origin in our A room. Just had to watch this as its been years since I operated a 4000.
Got an Origin as well. Watching this made me sigh.
Thanks for this look into it! Very interesting and informative!
i just bought a 4048G+ so i enjoyed your video!
Very COOL! I haven't sat in front of a 4k in 22 years or the 9k in 18 years. though I could heat up a McMuffin on the 9k.
Man, what a mixer!
This would be considered a console. Larger then a mixer.
Screaming to my pc to turn off the darn 1K....

BIG thank you!
Why is there DBX product inside the SSL console?
DBX were (and still are) one of the world's largest producers of VCA chips. Many SSL products used DBX VCAs and op-amps.
Yes, yes, but how do you pull the master section if you don't have any scruples? Very nice video.
buy a couple of bolts from Bunnings, either M6 or M8 i think
Amazing
Ooh as an audio engineer why you didn't hear that sine tone??? It's annoying
Unwatchable because the nutcase starts the 1k gen and then leaves it on while he talks.
Why the fu...k are you hitting those buttons?
Dude sends 1k like a mofo
