After a few days of use and a price comparison, should you buy the DeWalt 20v Max drill and impact driver or the Harbor Freight Hercules 20v drill and impact driver?
*Excelente kit **MyBest.Tools** suficiente mente potente y ligero. la luz incorporada en el taladro es muy superior a versiones anteriores que se encuentra cerca del broquero.*
Upgraded from an older 18v kit. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxW1vOBRCMrgTCDEijzpVzDWsgI-Jm2iQv I independently chose the drill and impact tool, before I came across the kit.I like the 3 speed impact gun. It seems more powerful than my older one, and it can be set to be really gentle. The drill is more appropriately sized for my use. I used to have a hammer drill, but I did not like that it was so big and it was not a great hammer drill. I rather have a smaller drill like this, and then get a corded hammer drill for the odd case I need that.
I buy from harbor freight weekly but can never recommend any of their premium power tools. They tend to over spec their product by a HUGE margin. For example, their Bauer 20v Hypermax 1/2" Impact Wrench was advertised 450 ft/lb torque, but it can't even break wheel lugs that were torqued at 105 ft/lb reliably with 5ah battery. I know those advertised torque is based on lab result. But they are way off! Also, their warranty is only 90 days! Be honest with your numbers, at least I know exactly what I am getting.
Seriously. He wouldn't even pick up the Hercules Drill. Which very well might be the Hammer drill if it has the Jacobs chuck. Which explains the cost difference since he has a Dewalt drill/driver
I’ve had the Hercules cordless drill for almost a year now and it’s never let me down. I actually bought my Hercules kit from eBay brand new for $60 with free shipping then when to HF and bought a extra battery for $20 with a coupon. So I spent $80 total for the drill kit and an extra battery and it was well worth it. I was never a DeWalt guy, replacement batteries are to expensive. I always used Makita but my drill is an older model with the huge 7”-8” battery and I wanted something smaller that wasn’t going to break the banks so after reading some positive reviews on the Hercules I bought one. HF is definitely after these bigger name brands with there Hercules line of tools.
HF is junk. please dont give thwm your money. the reason i wdnt with Dewalt 20v this time is because many of their power tools are now made in the USA.
Absolutely, in fact these do go on sale periodically and there is always at least a 20% discount coupon on the website, which is valid on sale items unless specifically excluded. And you're comparing your beloved DeWalt at a very good sale price which you won't find very often, to full price for the Hercules, not even the ever-present 20% off coupon. If you keep your eye on it you could probably walk out at harbor freight for the two of them for a hundred bucks or under.
@THE ORIGINAL PROFESSOR CHAOS Well Mr. rude professor whatever, if you bothered to take a look at the app for yourself you would know there is very frequently a 20% coupon for any Hercules product. So before you point out the speck in someone else's eye you might want to take a good look at the plank in your own eye.
You can't really compare price when you got the DeWalt on sale. Plus, the Hercules driver has a full replacement warranty, regardless of the condition. Also you said "the DeWalt wins", when you compared it to your high dollar brushless driver, but even that was only about a quarter of an inch on a long deck screw, about 1 second.
I find it funny that people bitch about HF selling shitty tools. Now that they are putting up a legit fight with top tool manufactures and making tools that perform as well as the big name's tools people are bitching still. Now the bitch is, "stick to making shitty tools at dirt cheap prices." BTW the most important part of this review should have been battery performance. How do they compare? How much are replacements? Let's be honest here. The battery technology is what is driving the cordless tool industry right now. If the batteries are on point and the price is right. I see that as a big plus. Oh and being able to have the life indicator on the batteries is very important to me.
Man so true. We brought the 20V 1/2 Earthquake CordLess Impact man that thing is a beast. Paid for itself already on two jobs we did with it with the tool. The battery came fully charged as well which was nice we could use it right away.
Alvarez Metal Works i totally agree like just because they sell some cheap tools doesn't mean they have to sell only cheap tools. Like people are getting mad because the drill is 100$ well go buy the 20$ drill then! Harbor frieght is crushing all other tool stores at the moment believe it or not they open a new store every 3 days
So he says all good things about hfts and than says not to buy them lol. And all the hf tools hercs all share the same batts too omg then he compares a or powerful battery dwalt to a less powered herc to show the dwalts better? What just happen? Nice fair review lol
Bear Craft not only that he used a brushless dewalt and a brushed Harbor Freight. If you compare a brushless Dewalt to a Brushed Dewalt, the Brushless will win every time.
looks darn near neck and neck to me in performance. new 5ah battery from dewalt 50 bucks? because it is from harbor freight. all dewalt can do now is bring the prices down. win win for the customer from my perspective!
??? Did you test your fancy 3 speed dewalt BRUSHLESS impact against the HF impact ? Looked pretty equal. So compare your brushless price vs HF impact I’m sure Dewalt is x2 the price. No??
I just watch a very good review that put a Dewalt drill against a Makita drill against a Hercules drill. I am a Dewalt fan boy however Hercules beat all of them. There’s also another video out there that puts Dewalt and Milwaukee up against the Hercules. Haven’t watch that one yet but I have a good feeling that Hercules is going to win that one too. I am becoming very impressed with Hercules brand tools. Good luck with your Makita. One of my workers loves Makita and I just bought him the full miter saw set up for Christmas.
Hercules is actually designed by people who previously worked with DeWalt. The tools are actually cheaper if you're with HFT's mailing/emailing list. (Side note: I work at HFT lol)
The coupons that HF offers for their new power tools is a joke, a mere $10 off. I get a better discount on the big name stuff at Lowes and Home Depot for being a veteran. I love HF, but they're going to need to do better than this.
the Hercules brand tools do seem pricey for being at harbor freight. I almost wonder if it is harbor freight trying to bring in slightly higher quality tools, but I will wait to see AVE tear one apart and compare it to a real quality tool before pondering that any further. on a separate note, I do have a question for you if you happen to see this comment. If you have used any, in your opinion how to bostitch 18 volt cordless drills and or impacts compare to dewalt tools? I myself am fond of the bostitch, but I only have an old worn out dewalt xrp with ni-cad batteries that dont like to hold a charge to compare my bostitch drills to. it doesn't help that the dewalt drill is a good 5 pounds heavier and is the shop supplied tool for hanging blinds and other such over head jobs
michael lautner There are ways to revive NiCad batteries that involve running lots of current through them. They seem sketchy. Anyway, HFT is trying to attract professionals with tools that they'd use more than a few times, and the new brands (Hercules, Bauer, Vulcan, etc.) are part of that
if the dewalt drill was mine I would attempt to revive the battery packs. but it belongs to my maintenance shop so I cant really do much with it. anyway, if that is what HFT is attempting to do with those tools I have no problem shelling out the extra bucks for the hft tools over a brand new dewalt if they are comparable in performance. harbor freight has education support programs that give out monetary support to schools across the country that still offer shop classes. I believe they call it their tools for schools program. I never really much cared for school in general because of how little of what they deem necessary to teach actually gets used in the real world, but those are classes that students will actually be able to do something with in life and not too many schools offer such courses.
yes he did, and much marketing wank was revealed. honestly disappointed in how they went about it. they could have built a better tool with off the shelf hobby motors than the tool they made building a custom half assed dewalt motor clone
i had issues with other brands from HF but I am building confidence with all the info, the video i dont care too much specially the Host treating tools, im thinking of it aswell
I bought a Hercules impact driver. It works very well. Though it does have a really soft start up. In other works instead of going to full RPM the second you pull the trigger in a split second you see and feel the the driver go to full RPMs. I switch back to my black & decker impact drive for work, and use my Hercules for my home. Still love the drill
Had mine over a yr I'm a professional carpenter, and mechanic went to school for both, and I use them every day building houses, and working on cars , and there still going strong the dewalt ones caught on fire after a month.
The Hercules brand at harbor frieght is strictly there to give people options you could go there and buy at 20$ drill or a 100$ drill, harbor freight is smart because they have options not just top priced items only. Also obviously not everyone hates harbor freight because they open a new store every 3 days
My father has one uses it everyday, I’ve used it a few times, I’m pretty impressed myself with the drill. I own mainly Dewalt and festool. The harbor Frieght drill run as well as my dewalt 20volt drills.
I've been using Ridgid for two years, now. Love them! I'm no pro, by any means, but they stand up to the abuse I put them through. Just make sure you get them through Home Depot, so you can sign up for the LSA.
I just took a 12 volt drill in and was charged a $20 "Look at Fee" with all the LSA paperwork in bag. Told 6-7 weeks. BS. I need my $100 drill every day. I will be going with Bosch next.
Only if you fill out the LSA paperwork within 30 days of purchase, and generally only if the batteries come with a tool kit. If you buy the batteries separate, the LSA rarely applies.
My 7 year old 18 volt Porter Cable Lithium Impact Driver....drove in over 10 lbs of 3 inch star type screws for fastening my front stairs and my 10x12 ft lean shed build...My next cordless set..maybe Makita, Dewalt, or Milwaukee...Im upset with Porter Cable..for discontinuing selling 18 volt lithium batteries..They since moved on to 20 volt lithium tools, but it doesnt help me any...great presentation.
You can replace the Hercules battery for 10 or 20 bucks the DeWalt battery is going to cost you 80 to a 100 bucks no comparison at the end of the day the Hercules is the better value
Right now (September 11) Home Depot Online Deal of the Day is a Dewalt brushless impact driver and brushless drill with 2 batteries for $149.00 with free shipping. Who is crazy enough to buy this line when a brushless Dewalt set is being sold for a lot less!!!
I've always been leary of HF power tools. However I bought their 4.8v cordless driver for less than 10 bucks because reasons. I friggin love the thing! No, it ain't fast, it ain't powerful, but it's compact so if you're working inside a car/truck under the dash or something, it doesn't get in its own way. And at full charge, it WILL eventually drive a screw into the wall. The battery holds a charge like forever- something my 18v Ryobi WON'T do. My Dewalt stuff is obviously the go to tool for heavier work but how could I argue with 10 bucks?
I just bought my Hercules 20v impact driver and took it to work everyday for the last week. Im driving hundreds of screws into metal studs every day and it is doing a great job. I can only hope it has longevity.
I got the Hercules angle grinder and it feels, sounds and works worlds better than the Metabo at work, im super impressed with what Harbor Freight is bringing to the table. On a side note, I got that same DeWalt kit at Tractor Supply on a fathers day sale last year.
Jason Lombera Pity they don't make them to accept DeWalt batteries. All 7 of my cordless tools are DeWalt because my 60v batteries work on all of them.
scot miller I've got a Milwaukee that does the same thing. Only had it a year. By the way, here in Orangeburg SC there is a plant, one plant, that produces every popular riding lawn mower made including the green one. All under one roof. I'll bet if you do some research, these drills are no different including the "mighty" red one.
Did anyone ever read the fine print on the Dewalt 20v batteries ? It says that they are actually only 18v. That is way you can get an adapter and use them on the older 18v units.
You bought the dewalt on sale with a smaller battery and you think its the better deal??? Also I can use a 25% coupon at HF and save $50. Still think you got a better deal?
Would like to see a battery run time (i.e. number of screws) vs charge time, and replacement/extra batter price comparison for the Hercules vs Dewalt driver video’s.
I wonder, though, if you pick them up with a 20-25% coupon if that helps. Also, is the DeWalt set that price all the time or was it just a special buy? I've bought a few power tools from Home Depot around Christmas like that, they bundle them together for a super low price than if you bought everything separate. That's how I got my nifty Rigid drill and impact set with the 12v Li-Ion batteries. Might only be 12v, but I have yet to find something it can't drill or screw into.
For a right winner you need to do the same test with both hands for each tool, for example here Dewalt wins with the left hand, will win with the right hand too? Normally you have more strength in one of your arms.
+Blakehx brushless is not worth the hype, it may be marginally better. I honestly can't tell the difference in the speed and power of my older brushed vs my newer brushless. I think a lot of people think they're better because they are new with fresh batteries when people try them and they're older brushed were probably worn out
With brushless tools you don't have brushes to worry about wearing out that said if you don't use the drill or the tool a lot I would go with a brushed it's much cheaper
Blakehx, for a casual and intermediate user, traditional brushed motors are great. In fact some people like myself like them better because I am used to how they respond. I detest how some of the new brushless tools hesitate when you pull the trigger.. However, brushless motors are more efficient, so for people needing maximum run time they are an advantage. I spoke with a roofing crew that noticed they can consistently run 100 more screws on a charge than the guys using the previous generation impact. I thought this was crazy, but when you are spending 8 hrs running roofing screws I guess you would soon feel a difference.
For what I do at home I've got a bunch of Ryobi lithium 18 volt tools. For the money they work fine for me. I do however use Dewalt 18 volt XRP drills at work. These have the older nicad batteries. 1st off the Dewalts at work take a beating and keep working. 2nd the Dewalt nicad batteries seem to last as long or longer while working than my Ryobi lithium batteries. 3rd the Dewalts are more powerful than my Ryobis. For pro use or near pro use I think it is hard to beat Dewalt.
OH SHIT!, YOU DONE DID IT NOW. YOU GOT THE UA-cam SPELLING A GRAMMAR POLICE IN THE BITCH ABOUT TO KICK OUT SOME CITATIONS. YOU BETTER MAKE SURE YOUR SHIT IS ON POINT BECAUSE NEXT THING YOU KNOW THEY WILL BE DOING A FULL INVESTIGATION ON YOUR UA-cam ACCOUNT TALKING ABOUT "LOOKS LIKE IN 2005 YOU CLICKED THUMBS UP TO A SEX AND THE CITY VIDEO" AND THEY DON'T EVEN GIVE ME A CHANCE TO EXPLAIN THAT UA-cam WAS BRAND NEW AND I DIDNT KNOW THAT SEX AND THE CITY WAS JUST A SPIN-OFF OF GOLDEN GIRLS. I WAS JUST CLICKING THE MOUSE WILD STYLE TRYING TO GET THE SHIT OFF THE SCREEN.
so.....lets see...159 plus tax (during the time limited sale) and to make it 100% comprable you have to add in the 2nd charger which is 69 plus tax. which comes out to $228 plus tax. So your point is moot. Not saying one is better than the other, but just using the price on a KIT vs buying 2 tools seperate isn't really fair when the kit skimps on stuff like chargers. Me personally, I'm going to wait for the reviews and teardowns before jumping one way or the other.
Eric jones That is my complaint. They are trying to enter the fray at the same price point of established brands with a crap warranty to boot. Mr. Schmidt, you're doing it wrong.
I agree with both of you. I put a 3 star review on the HF website for this VERY reason. I'm not saying that HF's new power tools aren't good, but I am saying that they should have a standard warranty comparable to if not BETTER than the big-name tools that they're trying to compete with. Sean, do you have any experience with the RIDGID power tools offered at Home Depot? Their lifetime warranty/service plan is rather compelling, but I defer to someone such as yourself who may use them enough to uncover any latent shortcomings that aren't otherwise obvious. Thanks for the video, keep them coming.
They can't get around the fact that lithium batteries are expensive to make. The rest of their products, they can use 50 year old battery technology and go short on the windings because most of their buyers won't notice, but there are no cheap lithium batteries.
right now at Home Depot you can get a brushless 1/2in Ridgid Hammer Drill with two 2.0 batteries for $179 and they will throw in a brushless 3-speed impact driver for free, everything with a lifetime warranty. no reason to take chances with Harbor Freight products when other brands will give you better tools with better warranty coverage for less $$$.
Just bought the set "Hercules, " worked great all week...both of my crews, we're surprised by how good they worked..they wanted to keep using them....my lead guy said extra batteries and we're good..my set worked all week. I'm very please so far
So the Hercules is a very comparable product, has 2 chargers instead of one, hard cases instead of soft, the batteries are nearly double the amp hours and they have a charging indicator, and he's wondering why they cost more?
I meant chargers. Sorry. But the statement remains. If you want to 'compare apples to apples' then you have done a poor job. The Hercules has an extra charger, hard cases, battery life indicators and 2.5 amp hour batteries instead of 1.5.
So the draw for me with the Hercules brand was the replacement cost. If I burn a drill or impact driver I can get a new one cheap, just because the driver goes out doesn't mean I need a whole new charger and batteries. Not to mention I can buy batteries for cheap so I always have one on the charger and spares around for all of the various Hercules 20v tools I have around. Granted I am not a professional anymore and these are here to support my hobbies and home improvement projects, they work for my needs and I don't have to worry about breaking something and having to spend a lot of time/money to get back up and running again.
At half the price of a good brand maybe, but I'm thrilled with my dewalt drills, it's a "professional/commercial" brand, HF is a home gamer brand with some awsome tools accidentally made, plus ryobi sells a drill driver set for like $100 on holidays like Father's Day (as much as the batteries cost) and they're just fine at taking a hot supper
The hercules impact only is $99 vs Dewalt is $289. Hercules is made for people who do occasional house work not contract while Dewalt is made for contract work, so the comparison is off.
Hey man, I have been thinking to buy Hercules kit. Do you think it worth? It is for home, no professional jobs. I saw a video which the man showed that the Hecules had better job than Makita. Impressive.
Says "lets not compare apples to oranges" about the brushless dewalt with the 5amp hour battery vs the hercules driver. Then he proceeds to do just that in the test?
Dewalt is now making a 6 amp flex volt kit if you are in construction that is the kit for you i grab one the other day after drilling 12 4 and a half inch hole in 20 mins the guy I worked with had the set
Hercules is a rock solid brand. Dewalt is good. I have Porter Gable, Dewalt, and Craftsman drills and drivers. The Porter Cable 20 volt lithium is probably the best I have ever used. There is a video on You Tube that has a guy who dissects drills of different top brands and they are all virtually the same. Continuity is important to me so I grabbed 4 Porter Cable 2.5 batteries on sale at Lowe’s for $28 a piece. The only Porter Cable tool that disappointed me was the circular saw as it stops cutting and it could just be in need of a new blade, but it goes through batteries fast. Corded is better.
well lets get real here Milwaukee makes the tradesman's go to standard, however if they "Hercules" made a flashlight which you could use with those same 20v drill battery's i would buy one just because its so cheap. plus lets look at the price of the batteries forget about the tools and kits most come with 1.5 amp batteries. a dewalt 5 amp cost 75 dollars each while the same amp hercules cost 25 dollars less.
Their email says they have an upcoming flashlight and a few other things. Tore up a 20v 1.5AM Bauer (new HF brand battery), and it had 5 Samsung (decent) 1500mah 3.6V 18650 lithium ion batteries, so it had 18v 1.5 AH of actual battery, even said 18v on the circuit board inside, but was decently built otherwise, way better than the old NiCad. At $19.99 for the battery, I can't complain.
Dewalt is King down here in Florida. See way more of them on jobs than others with Milwaukee being second most common. The thing about DeWalt and others is that they make two different lines of tools. If you have ever noticed the difference in the colours of the batteries on Dewalts, Yellow Or Black on the tops. The Yellow ones are Sanyo's out of Japan and the Black ones are generic from China. The big box stores tell them the price they are going to sell for and the manufacturers make the product comply to price point. If you order or purchase from a Dewalt dealer such as a tool supplier, the drill you get will be more expensive and better made. I did not believe this at first but there is a Dewalt service center near me that sells refurbished returns and he showed me how much nicer the components are inside of the pricier models compared to big box items. The two appear to be similar in appearance on the outside but thats where it ends. I use two different drills and one impact driver every day, all day, and the extra money for the nicer model has served me well.
I have that dewalt set. I'm a professional mechanic and I still think that set may be the all around best thing I've ever bought with price factored in
I like your review, but it leaves the question open as to the longevity of the batteries. I would like to see you do a drive test to see how many screws each unit will drive on a full charge. Best regards.
You didn't do the only thing I was interested in which was a tear down to compare the internals. That will tell you a lot more about whether they might've been made in the same factory, or at least share many of the non-patented design choices. However there is something to be said for a pro grade tool manufacturer offering spare parts. Usually a pro grade tool can be repaired cheaper than replaced. However that $159 set you bought, is only borderline pro grade, maybe not as much that set but you never know the parts cost until you look it up.
I just purchase the Hercules impact today. I'm a DIY guy so to me having a screw in the wall 2 seconds faster doesn't matter. I based my purchase on color alone. And at the end of the day I get the job done.
As of 12/17/2020, The Hurcules is $49 tool only the Dewalt is $93 on walmart.com. The Hurcules has a $25 instant coupon if you buy a battery and charger. The Dewalt you have to buy a big kit to save.
I wanna try out the Hercules seemed it did fairly good even compared to the 5.0 dewalt. I been a Makita guy, so I want to see for myself how good it is. Seems like a brand from HF that will prove they actually sell a really good product of tools in regards to Hercules. I’ve tried the grinder and it works really good.
I get what harbor freights trying to do but at the end of the day 99.9% of people are gonna spend the money on higher end name brands when they're this close in price, regardless if it works better or not. If you were given a choice between a lamborghini and a 600hp honda civic for the same price which would you pick?
using dewalt since 1996. 12v-18v-20v-flex. best bang for your buck. like the usa stamp instead of Mexico though. I can burn'em and tell what dewalt is in my hands. great review.
Use a 20% off coupon on each one and BAM you have a good deal. Plus HF warranty is the best in the business. 5ah battery for Hercules drills is only 49$ also. As dewalt phases out their brushed tools you’ll see Hercules line of tools grow.
Nice video and I get a bunch of stuff from harbor freight, but as you found you definitely have to do some comparison shopping because not everything they sell is a great deal or even low priced. Also, FYI you can get the brushless combo for $179 though unless you use them a ton it probably won't make much difference.
The problem I have with no-name stuff is once you buy into a system (start buying multiple tools, batteries, charger, etc) you're going to want support when something breaks. I know that 5 or even 10 years from now you'll be able to service anything from Makita, Dewalt, Milwaukee, etc. However I have zero confidence that Harbor Freight will support their older power tool systems down the line. The price needs to reflect that. They don't even show "house brand" levels of power tool support you get from HD/Ridgid or Sears/Craftsman.
The $159 for the Dewalt was only a sell price. The dewalt impact driver tool only is 99, the Hercules is $49. So when the dewalt i'snt on sale there is a $50 price difference between the 2. Atleast that's how it is in my area. Currently you can get a 20v hercules impact driver tool, charger & 2 batteries for $ 175
I had been waiting for someone to show these Hercules tools the HF keeps advertising. I think it's a big mistake to say their new, unknown power tools beat DeWalt tools. I noticed the same thing about the prices. People go to HF for cheaper and these aren't really cheaper. If I'm going to pay anywhere near the same, I'm buying from a well established brand, not Bauer or Hercules at HF. I'd still like to see some lengthy tests on these to see what their limits are.
It's not near the same when you take into account batteries. The Hercules batteries are amazingly cheaper, and even if they aren't actually 2.5AH like they claim they are definitely at least 1.5AH like the dewalts and you can buy 3 of the hercules batteries for the price of a single dewalt battery.

james hawkins People like him make use of the lifetime warranties.
Clorox Bleach which offers a life time warranty?
Lmao
After seeing all his Dewalt tools, And listening to his " Review",The video should have been titled HF vs Fanboy.
@@bpeterson81 I’m pretty sure that HF drill is a hammer drill. Some folks have no idea how to make a comparative review. Makes me crazy!
There batterys seem to be better quality made
How I hate when ppl are banging their tools for no reason.
me too
HF is junk. please dont give thwm your money. the reason i wdnt with Dewalt 20v this time is because many of their power tools are now made in the USA.
I mean they paid for them, they can do as they please. Again they're tools not Fabergé eggs. I toss my tools around, but I don't beat on them.
james schaffner the gloves I buy at HF last really long, their toolbags fall apart, they have their place in the retail market
It's fun to watch though 😃
Dude that was a SALE item. No comparison in my opinion.... Hercules wins in my book for the price.

How's this comment hold up in a recession and inflation lol?
I find it funny that people bitch about HF selling shitty tools. Now that they are putting up a legit fight with top tool manufactures and making tools that perform as well as the big name's tools people are bitching still. Now the bitch is, "stick to making shitty tools at dirt cheap prices."

Need a AvE test on those battery claims from harbor Fraught.
Stephen Paraski done 😂
Much marketing wank.
he did, but honestly i don't think his test is skookum
??? Did you test your fancy 3 speed dewalt BRUSHLESS impact against the HF impact ? Looked pretty equal. So compare your brushless price vs HF impact I’m sure Dewalt is x2 the price. No??
knarfluna the fancy 3 speed Dewalt is also 3 times the tool.
It won't show on 1 80mm screw.
So why not purchase the HFT with coupon or when it's on sale like you did with the Dewalt?
Exactly!
Hercules Tools are excluded from the 20% coupon! So is Bauer Tools! Unless you have a specific coupon for that item!
Dewalt is crap from my experience. Once I started using Makita I've never looked back. Honestly I would trust a Hercules driver over a Dewalt any day.
Alejandro Perez As do I! Is there a coupon out there for the Hercules? I haven't seen any.
cheecheneg you can use a 25% off coupon
The coupons that HF offers for their new power tools is a joke, a mere $10 off. I get a better discount on the big name stuff at Lowes and Home Depot for being a veteran. I love HF, but they're going to need to do better than this.
cheecheneg I received an email about it earlier this week
BKatBMEP I hear ya, but not everyone has that benefit. The store is a work in progress, these new brands are just the beginning
the Hercules brand tools do seem pricey for being at harbor freight.
"but I will wait to see AVE tear one apart " keep your stick on the ice.
tomdickharryjane Ave has already done it!
yes he did, and much marketing wank was revealed. honestly disappointed in how they went about it. they could have built a better tool with off the shelf hobby motors than the tool they made building a custom half assed dewalt motor clone
This guy sounds like John malkovich doing tool reviews
Lol, spot on
I've always been afraid of HF power tools, but I think I'm going to try the new stuff
go check out wen
I just bought a Wen cordless drill , jig saw and drill press . All well built .
I've got both of the Hercules drills and the impact driver. I love all of them. I will never buy another Dewalt.
i had issues with other brands from HF but I am building confidence with all the info, the video i dont care too much specially the Host treating tools, im thinking of it aswell
What I learned from this video.... "My favorite color is yellow"
Right out the door this guy immediately jumps on DeWalt what a bias and useless review lol
My father has one uses it everyday, I’ve used it a few times, I’m pretty impressed myself with the drill. I own mainly Dewalt and festool. The harbor Frieght drill run as well as my dewalt 20volt drills.
How you dare to treat your tools like that 💔💔💔💔.
My tools at organized in shelves and I use them daily. 🤔🤔
What do we do with the batteries when they are worn out?
What about Rigid... I've heard they offer free lifetime battery service / replacement!
Yeah, Home Depot will do that for some frickin' reason. Best thing to do is to skip them and take it straight to the authorized repair shop.
Only if you fill out the LSA paperwork within 30 days of purchase, and generally only if the batteries come with a tool kit. If you buy the batteries separate, the LSA rarely applies.
90 days, and only if bought through Home Depot.
My 7 year old 18 volt Porter Cable Lithium Impact Driver....drove in over 10 lbs of 3 inch star
type screws for fastening my front stairs and my 10x12 ft lean shed build...My next cordless set..maybe Makita, Dewalt, or Milwaukee...Im upset with Porter Cable..for discontinuing selling 18 volt lithium batteries..They since moved on to 20 volt lithium tools, but it doesnt help me any...great presentation.
You can replace the Hercules battery for 10 or 20 bucks the DeWalt battery is going to cost you 80 to a 100 bucks no comparison at the end of the day the Hercules is the better value
good comment!!
So what are the differences in replacement batteries?
Right now (September 11) Home Depot Online Deal of the Day is a Dewalt brushless impact driver and brushless drill with 2 batteries for $149.00 with free shipping. Who is crazy enough to buy this line when a brushless Dewalt set is being sold for a lot less!!!
Its 99 dollars now, think ill go with Dewalt.
They're not made in the same factory
Drill some holes for a test
Are the battery interchangeable
So a single screw can determine if someone wants to buy a tool? Anyways hows the bat fitment did u fit it?
What are the replacement battery costs though?
I've always been leary of HF power tools. However I bought their 4.8v cordless driver for less than 10 bucks because reasons. I friggin love the thing! No, it ain't fast, it ain't powerful, but it's compact so if you're working inside a car/truck under the dash or something, it doesn't get in its own way. And at full charge, it WILL eventually drive a screw into the wall. The battery holds a charge like forever- something my 18v Ryobi WON'T do. My Dewalt stuff is obviously the go to tool for heavier work but how could I argue with 10 bucks?
Have the name or item cant find that on the website?
I just bought my Hercules 20v impact driver and took it to work everyday for the last week. Im driving hundreds of screws into metal studs every day and it is doing a great job. I can only hope it has longevity.
Luiz Diaz how has it lasted i got one 2 weeks ago
Would like to see these compared to the Kobalt 24v drill and impact kit. When its on sale its 150 dollars
Is that the 787 impact driver?
I got the Hercules angle grinder and it feels, sounds and works worlds better than the Metabo at work, im super impressed with what Harbor Freight is bringing to the table. On a side note, I got that same DeWalt kit at Tractor Supply on a fathers day sale last year.
I’m an HVAC technician and I have the Hercules impact I use daily. I was skeptical at first but tbh it works great for the price
Jason Lombera Pity they don't make them to accept DeWalt batteries. All 7 of my cordless tools are DeWalt because my 60v batteries work on all of them.
I have that DeWalt drill and the Chuck does not hold drill bits well they slip and loosen themselves up.
scot miller I've got a Milwaukee that does the same thing.
+Charles Kettering I think I go into that in another vid
Actually the kit is under 150.00, not bad two batteries, charger and adapter.
I look forward to seeing you mod the dewalt and harbor freight drills to be cross compatible with their respective batteries!
Broken_font - Same here.
with a couple harbor freight 20% off coupons I'd go with that except the impact doesn't have the automatic load like the dewalt.
you cannot use 20% on branded HF. Hercules, Portland, Bauer, etc.
ri mar poop 💩
Thanks for the video, Sean. You showed the DeWalt battery almost fit the Hercules, but will the Hercules battery mount the DeWalt?
he did that comparison in an earlier video ... doesn't quite fit
I want tools made in america.which drills are made in america,is it only milwaukee?
Yes cheaper at Lowe’s but your buying 1.5 amps compared to 2.5 amps huge difference
Are the hercules drills still performing as well as you'd hoped for?
Be gentle for the tools when you put them down! I always afraid of the battery will explode after hit the table saw! Lol
Lol then you wouldn't last a day on the job site
Anyone know if the Hercules Battery fits the Dewalt?
You sound just like John C. Reilly awesome!!
I thought John malkovich
Caught Vince sneaking around you tube VCG!!!
Hercules is about $38 for a lithium 20V battery, the old school 18V ni-cad dewalt batteries were $99 for a set of 2. Im sure the lithium 20V are more
I wonder, though, if you pick them up with a 20-25% coupon if that helps.
How big of a difference is brushless? I've only used regular brushed motors, I don't really know the difference other than the price!
The big question I have is are the batteries interchangable
No
Very good comparison video. I went to Lowes 2 weeks ago and got a good deal on a Porter Cable impact drill. cheers !i
For what I do at home I've got a bunch of Ryobi lithium 18 volt tools.
Yep. Around here, it seems all the pros use DeWalt. Rarely does one see Milwaukee or Makita.
Robby Davidson because their "pros"
grumpybill "they're"
OH SHIT!, YOU DONE DID IT NOW. YOU GOT THE UA-cam SPELLING A GRAMMAR

All2skitzd *And
Lol
so.....lets see...159 plus tax (during the time limited sale) and to make it 100% comprable you have to add in the 2nd charger which is 69 plus tax. which comes out to $228 plus tax. So your point is moot. Not saying one is better than the other, but just using the price on a KIT vs buying 2 tools seperate isn't really fair when the kit skimps on stuff like chargers. Me personally, I'm going to wait for the reviews and teardowns before jumping one way or the other.
Consider Battery replacement later on
yep. way better stuff, but price point is too high and warranty to short.
I work at harbor freight myself and the drills are good buys especially with our coupons. our quality is moving up
Thats pretty high price for HF product.
Eric jones, I agree
Eric jones
That is my complaint.
They only come with 1 battery each
I meant chargers.
At half the price of a good brand maybe, but I'm thrilled with my dewalt drills, it's a "professional/commercial" brand, HF is a home gamer brand with some awsome tools accidentally made, plus ryobi sells a drill driver set for like $100 on holidays like Father's Day (as much as the batteries cost) and they're just fine at taking a hot supper
cool i didnt know about that deal on the dewalt. even though it aint brushless thats still a good deal
The hercules impact only is $99 vs Dewalt is $289. Hercules is made for people who do occasional house work not contract while Dewalt is made for contract work, so the comparison is off.
Compare battery prices
Is that Dale Doback?
i been used Hercules cordless impact and drill no problem for 2 1/2 yrs...!!!
Me too, and the batteries hold up very well too.
You’d get a better effect if you tossed the tools across the shop.
well lets get real here Milwaukee makes the tradesman's go to standard, however if they "Hercules" made a flashlight which you could use with those same 20v drill battery's i would buy one just because its so cheap. plus lets look at the price of the batteries forget about the tools and kits most come with 1.5 amp batteries. a dewalt 5 amp cost 75 dollars each while the same amp hercules cost 25 dollars less.
Risto Mladich -- In my field (contractor) and my area (West coast), Makita sets the standard, not Milwaukee!
makita doesnt have tools for electrians, hvac or plumbers. I do like their grinders tho and their screwguns are pretty good.
Here in the UK most contractors/builders use Makita
It looks like that both brands of tools are made in the same factory. that's why they are very similar.
Can you just put your tools down like a normal person?
I have that dewalt set. I'm a professional mechanic and I still think that set may be the all around best thing I've ever bought with price factored in
Slamming shit around
That was a sale!?!?
Sept 1st at Lowe's you can get that same drill kit with another dewalt tool for free right now at certain lowes i would imagine most of then
I wanna try out the Hercules seemed it did fairly good even compared to the 5.0 dewalt. I been a Makita guy, so I want to see for myself how good it is. Seems like a brand from HF that will prove they actually sell a really good product of tools in regards to Hercules. I’ve tried the grinder and it works really good.
i would segest the makita drill and impact driver
I get what harbor freights trying to do but at the end of the day 99.9% of people are gonna spend the money on higher end name brands when they're this close in price, regardless if it works better or not. If you were given a choice between a lamborghini and a 600hp honda civic for the same price which would you pick?
bdub z good analogy
I'd pick the Honda. Lambos are unreliable as hell.
bdub z Honda
honda
using dewalt since 1996. 12v-18v-20v-flex. best bang for your buck. like the usa stamp instead of Mexico though. I can burn'em and tell what dewalt is in my hands. great review.
If you can get those new DeWalt batteries to work with all the other DeWalt tools you showed like you said, I'll be REALLY impressed.
Dewalt “20v” batteries operate at 18v. It clearly states that on every box containing a battery. An associate at Home Depot showed me this.
I think you can use one of their coupons to get 20% off. That would make it worth it maybe.
The $159 for the Dewalt was only a sell price. The dewalt impact driver tool only is 99, the Hercules is $49. So when the dewalt i'snt on sale there is a $50 price difference between the 2. Atleast that's how it is in my area. Currently you can get a 20v hercules impact driver tool, charger & 2 batteries for $ 175
November 2022 Hercules price update $39.00
Yeah and by that time they’ll be in all the bigger stores like menards, home depot and stuff and the prices will be much higher.
Nice I just bought the hurclues one but now I might return now that I see this. Dewalt has a longer warranty vs 90 days at harbor freight.
Check the voltage output of the batteries first. The order of the +V and ground might be different and you'll fry something if you just stick them in.
