    Flow jitter does not determine brush size, that's what size jitter is for. He doesn't mention it here, but you can see that Feng does have size jitter turned on. Flow jitter being activated adds a small variation of flow to the beginning and end of the stroke because the initial and end pressure for a stroke is usually less than it's body. The actual sliders for jitter will only increase the randomness of a line. So most people will want either or both turned on, but will leave the sliders set to 0 for a normal looking line. Hope this helps someone, because I got pretty confused trying to work this out at first.

    The fact that Feng has so many videos is fucking awesome. No other artist does this.

    you can hold shift and smake a stroke with your mouse or pen tablet for horizontal and verticle straight lines...for any angle it involves using your an entire arm for a stroke watch the traditional mediums vide on the FZD channel

    You are correct. What I do is control the opacity manually - just like in real life. I press the 1 to 9 keys to control how much of the paint gets applied. Also, for beginners, it's better to not blend anything. Have each value be very distinct.
    One thing PS doesn't do is mix colors (for example, mixing blue paint on yellow will result in green in real life). So to accomplish this, one must learn about color theory; or use Coral Painter which mixes in real-time.

    Cintiqs had really really bad color issues until the mid 2012 models were released- the DTK2100.
    I have a cintiq of that model myself, and if you compare it to an earlier one of any size, the colours were god awful. Right now I duel screen with a Cintiq, and then my Apple MBP with retina display- and the only color difference I really notices is that the whites aren't as bright.
    FZD probably didn't want cintiqs until the colors were better then they were in 2011, but it's only a guess.

    You would need to install the tablet's driver, which can be downloaded from Wacom's website. Just search for "Bamboo Driver".

    as photoshop normal shortcuts it is by holding Shift down and draw the line. then its no matter where you pen are. just where it starts and how long. then you can scroll it all over the screen, its only the length that moves. :) if not work. try check ya keybindings.

    Depends on how you use it and, perhaps more important, how big your monitor is. A huge tablet isn't going to help much if you've got a 15"-20" screen. 6x8 is a probably a good size to start with. Go too big too soon and you'll just get overwhelmed without much benefit in the long run.

    Cintiq is a Wacom. He uses a Intuos 3 and 4 model. As in other video, Feng Zhu said he preferred the 3 model because of difference between the 3's surface and the 4 one. ;)

  • @allluckyseven

    @ArthurVuksake Nah. I did everything by the book:
    Got a newer desktop computer (an i7) with Win7, plugged my old Intuos 2 tablet, downloaded the latest driver and tried to make it work... and it didn't.
    I also tested on a friend's computer (which has the same specs as mine) and on another one which is a few years older.
    I tried some older drivers aswell.
    Maybe I should try installing it on a different computer, or installing XP here, but I don't have the time for that atm.. will do that soon

  • @mrdoolio
    @mrdoolio 12 років тому

    It's a command, hold shift while drawing the line. And yes, you can ask Feng himself, and yes, you can ask him about the particular rectangles in this video, he will tell you the same. I wonder why you do this...

  • @mrdoolio
    @mrdoolio 12 років тому

    There is a difference between fairly straight and straight and you can see it. While there is no need to do the shift-line while illustrating, he did use it in this particular video, for instance, for drawing the rectangle at ~2:27, and I am SURE the viewer was referring to that and not, say, to this drawings of wacom tablets in this video. I mean, ask him, he'll tell you the same. It is very perceivable whether the line is drawn with the shift or just by sure hand.

  • @PianoBird25
    @PianoBird25 12 років тому

    You can create them yourself by "making" a new colour and saving as another name. fx white 2 or simi white. or whatever, for your own reminder of how the colour is.
    Same for more detailed - it can be set to opasity / flow, as with your brushes.
    So its up to yourself to produce it to make it faster/easier to draw without swiching between options all time. :)
    Enjoy

    @SemichilledDeviant if you are going to do this type of stuff you really do need a tablet. Wacom is pretty much the best tablet but you can pretty much get whatever tablet you want, personally I have a bamboo touch.

    ah hmm... I actually own one myself... but just that the touch function doesn't turn off when the pen is near the pad...meaning when I place my hand on it while holding the pen, the touch gestures still reads awkwardly... just feel its a waste that I don't use the touch func even though I bought the touch ver =/

    Yeah, I wish Wacom would've kept the Intuos3 design and added the Intuos4 features. I've got a Intuos4 and these nibs wear out so fast, and I also find that surface a bit slippier, too. But I kinda adapted to it. Anyway, thanks for this helpful video! Very informative! And I was hoping you did one on some of the tech specs you're using!

  • @jhosioja
    @jhosioja 11 років тому

    Oh, and don't pay for the alienware brand.. you can clone the high tier machines for like a fraction of the cost. I know this video is old so the prices are no longer comparable, but I built a machine for less than 2K, with very minor overclocks (100% stable) outstrips machines where the cpu alone costs 3k out of the box.

    i'm torn between the 9X6" and 8X13"wacom intuos 4 and can't decide which one to buy. Feng has a bigger and better monitor(2560X1600/ 30") than mine and recommends using 9X12" tablet. but mine is smaller with a lower screen reloution(24"by Dell/1920X1080). Intuos4 offers 9X6" midium size and 8X13" large size here in korea. Can anyone tell me which one would work better for me? need to practice digital paintings and work on my porfolio soon. thx!! ^^

    3:58 Regarding the Dell vs Apple monitors, I've heard that the Apple monitors main issue is, the surface is reflective, [if it's turned off u can actually use it as a mirror] which would cause some issues when rendering out stuff, since lights and things will reflect onto it.
    Not quite sure, 'cus I dont have an Apple monitor, but let me know if it's the case.

    I know it doesn't really matter the exact CPU in that Alienware, but I thought it would be funny to point out that the Intel i960 CPU has stopped being produced since 1990 XD. It had a frequency of 100 mhz XD.
