@@carltimms3994 I like 4 Way Diablo and God Says No a lot even though my fav album from them is 'the Spine of God'. Their worst album is that cover album they did a couple of years ago, but hey you can't win them all. MM played 2 songs off the Spine of God album this past weekend in Munich, Germany. I've been waiting for this show! Monster Magnet is an important and highly underrated band. Here is my list with a few comments. I don't think they have a weak album in their catalog. It's all great to me. I enjoy the lyric quotes. Dave's a one-of-a-kind writer. 1. Dopes to Infinity- I'm with both of you on the strength of the top of this album, but I see it as a four-track run including All Friends and Kingdom Come, which I view as a psychedelic masterpiece. The "I'm just not quite right today" vocal at the end has appeared in my dreams. 2. Powertrip- The title track is a great stick-it-to-the-man song. This album is crushing! 3. Superjudge- very close to Powertrip. 4. Spine of God 5. Last Patrol- my favorite later-period album 6. Monolithic Baby 7. 25 Tab 8. Four Way Diablo- there's some filler here, but the strong tracks hit me so hard. 9. Mindfucker 10. God Says No- There's something about the production of this album that disagrees with me. 11. Mastermind- I never quite connected with this album, though I do love individual songs.
Hi Pete & Jamie. Long time viewer, first time commentator. Really enjoyed the vid. Love Monster Magnet to death. Fortunate to see them live back in ’93 on the Superjudge tour in a small venue in Camden, London. Crazy loud. Dave Wyndorf spent most of the gig being physically propped up by the audience. In between songs he declared that “All I can see is a big fucking cyclops eye staring back at me.” Of course there was no cyclops in the room, but I have no doubt that Dave could see one. Great memories indeed.
Absolutely fantastic episode which i've been looking forward to for so long. Jamie - i'm in total agreement with your top 6. You really get this great and criminally underrated band.
Wow, no clue how I missed this episode. Excellent one, guys! I love this band. Bough "Spine of God" on cassette back in the day on a lark and fell in love. I rank 'em like this: 01. Dopes To Infinity 02. Powertrip 03. Spine Of God 04. Monster Magnet (EP) 05. Mindfucker 06. Monolithic Baby! 07. Last Patrol 08. Superjudge 09. Mastermind 10. God Says No 11. Milking The Stars 12. 25 - Tab 13. 4-Way Diablo 14. Cobras & Fire 15. A Better Dystopia
Great show guys. One of my favourite bands As I understood it the tab album was a throwaway to get off the label they were on. The label wanted one more album from them
Laszlo rules!! I saw MM on the "Dopes To Infinity" tour. I was front row. Dave kept taking his Strat off and windmill swinging it by the strap. I had to keep leaning back to not get taken the eff out! They were amazing!
MM are one of those bands that have never made a bad album to my ears ( although some are obviously better than others). Highly entertaining and amusing show Gents…
Great episode! Just like Pete, MM dropped off my radar for a bit, although Dopes always managed to get back into the rotation every once in a while over the years. Now after watching this, I want to go back and rediscover more of their music. I used to buy comics from Dave Wyndorf in the mid 80’s when he worked at small shop in the Red Bank Mini Mall. I would also see him at the local VFW comic shows in the area. He was always super nice and fun to chat with.
It's crazy that in the comment section, the lists are so varied. They're one of my favorite bands ever, i have so many memories connected through the years to these albums. I can imagine everyone on here feels the same, so no judgment on their lists. Thanks for doing this list.
in 1992 i saw Monster Magnet with Soundgarden fan ever since. Cobras & Fire and Dopes to Infinity are probably my top 2 i just enjoy them the attitude the feel of the music whatever influences they draw from meshes together well. The Atomic Bitchwax is a killer side project that didn't start as one but now has 3 of the band members.
Have loved Magnet since hearing Twin Earth on Headbanger’s Ball in 1993 and have had the pleasure of seeing them seven times over the years, most recently in my home town Dublin and Belfast the night before - best though was playing Spine of God in its entirety and some of the Tab tracks in the wonderful venue AB in Brussels in 2012. Loved your run down - love all their albums.
I think I remember that there was a video of the band performing on a black carpet cover ed upside down cross stage me and my drummer friends jaws dropped when the video came on lol
The pride of Red Bank. Such a consistently good catalog through the years. My top ones would be: "Dopes To Infinity", "Spine Of God", "Powertrip", and "Superjudge".
God Says No and Cobras and Fire: The Mastermind Redux are my 2 favorite MM records by far. Milking the Stars is good too, get both of the redux albums everybody!
Fun episode guys! Hearing "God Says No" when things just don't work out, lol. So true Jamie! A tough ranking. I actually like "Mastermind" quite a bit, it challenges the top 2 that remain from when I got into MM over 25 years ago. The opening tracks of "Dopes", damn! 1. Powertrip 1998 2. Dopes to Infinity 1995 3. Mastermind 2010 4. Last Patrol 2013 5. Monolithic Baby! 2004 6. Tab 1991 7. A Better Dystopia 2021 8. Mindfucker 2018 9. God Says No 2000 10. 4-Way Diablo 2007 11. Superjudge 1993 12. Spine of God 1991
Great episode, i only know a couple of their albums but i always liked wjat i heard. Truckfighters would make for a great ranking if youre a fan. Their first album Gravity X is a stoner classic. I love how you apologise for swearing very occasionally then you have Jamie on and he goes to town 😂. Got to love the passion.
I like this band a lot. The only thing negative that I can really say is that a few of these suffer from being too long. I did include the "Tab EP" since it's almost an hour long. Plus, it's so good!! 12) God Says No 11) Monolithic Baby! 10) 4-Way Diablo 9) Last Patrol 8) Mindfucker 7) A Better Dystopia 6) Superjudge 5) Spine of God 4) Mastermind 3) Tab 2) Powertrip 1) Dopes to Infinity ("Negasonic..." could play on a loop for 24 hours and I'd still want to hear it more) I really don't ever listen to my #11 & 12, but other than that I can put any of these on and have a great time.
Loved this episode. Was waiting for this ever since I knew you guys were going to rate this catalogue. I am a monster Monster Magnet fan. Here is my rating. I love them all, but here goes. 10. Superjudge 9. 4 Way Diablo 8. Spine of God 7. Powertrip 6. Monolithic Baby 5. Mindfucker 4. Last Patrol 3. Mastermind '2. Dopes to Infinity 1 God Says No honourable mentions - Milking the Stars, Cobras and Fire, 25 and Tab and A Better Dystopia. Like I said, Monstrous Monster Magnet fan here!
Cool vid guys. I’m like Pete where I listened to them a ton in the 90s but lost track of them in 2000s. Picked up their last couple albums the last couple years when they came out and going to work backwards in the catalogue now. 🤟
Good watch. I'm kinda in between you guys. I agree with Jamie on one point....."Cry" really grabs my heart, soul, and brain, probably more than any other MM album. I love Last Patrol. It's kinda like growing-up and aging with them. It's in my top-5 MM albums, for sure.
Been waiting on this ranking for a while. Worth the wait. Great show. Jamie’s enthusiasm for this band was cool. Must say no bad albums at all and my ranking could change any day. Already have changed things around several times but for today here it is #11- Tab 25 #10- Last Patrol #9- God Says No #8- Superjudge #7- Mindfucker #6- Mastermind #5- 4-Way Diablo #4- Monolithic #3- Spine of God #2- Dopes to Infinity #1- Powertrip Dopes was my introduction to the band and was hooked. The only reason I I have Powertrip #1 over Dopes is Dopes just runs a little long at the end. Take off a song or 2 and it would probably be #1. Still could be to be honestly because there are some real kick ass songs on this. Like I said this is a hard ranking, no stinkers at all in this catalog. Great show
I was ready to be on the defensive about my Number One rock hero, but seeing Luis Nasser on board, I was instantly reassured. Very insightful, and I agree that Townshend, even when he’s writing about himself, always makes sure he is also writing about us.
Great episode! So cool to see MM ranked. Have to go with Spine Of God as my favorite. Love Powertrip. I bought the cassette on a business trip and played it in the rental car non-stop. Then for a solid month after that.
This is a really fun episode. I bought 'Spine of God' because of the cover and a review, loved it. Next thing I remember was "Space Lord" on MTv in heavy rotation and I was not really into it, I never went back to the well again. Missed out on everything else! This is a reminder of one of those bands that were just off my radar (or for the "off the bandwagon for no reason" episode).
Have been a fan since Superjudge was released in 1993when I saw in Jack's Music in Red Bank NJ it was an Employees #1 pick of the week! went back the following week and bought the EP, 25.....tab and Spine of God and been a Fanatic since, and felt they got better with every release. And A Better Dystopia hasn't left my car for months after it's release! Had my ranking done, then I watched this episode and went back and listened to Mindfucker and 4-Way Diablo a little more and found a new appreciation for them and moved them up a couple of slots! with that said, here we go... 11. 25.........tab (I really have to be in the mood for this one!) 10. Last Patrol 9. Mastermind 8. Spine Of God 7. Superjudge 6. 4-Way Diablo 5. Mindfucker 4. Dopes To Infinity 3. God Says NO 2. Monolithic Baby! 1. Powertrip
Yes! Coming from the tape Era, I'm jazzed to see this. Lost Patrol, Dopes to Infinity, and Superjudge remain favorites... I'm biased to the song King of Mars, as I've covered it with a version.
1. Spine of God 2. Dopes to Infinity 3. Superjudge 4. TAB ... 25 5. Monolithic Baby 6. Lost Patrol (return to form, yay!) 7. Powertrip 8. God Says No 9. 4-Way Diablo 10. Mastermind (probably haven't listened to it enough yet) ** haven't listened to Mindfucker yet **
My Ranking of The Monster Magnet 1. SuperJudge 2. Spine of God 3. Drops to Infinity 4. PowerTrip 5. God Says No 6. Mastermind 7. Last Patrol 8. Tab 25 9. Mindfuc*er 10. 4 Ways Diablo 11. Monolithic Baby
I love Monster Magnet ever since I saw them on tv WDR by me in Germany back in 98'. Shortly there after I saw them live at the Nürburgring 3 day rock festival center stage when later on in the evening Metallica played to over 80,000 people. I seen them 6 other times over the years, my last time seeing them was this past Friday in Munich Germany. I originally came 15 mins south of them on the Jersey Shore. Back in then early 90s, my oldest brother played with Jim Baglino who later became the new bassist for Monster Magnet when Joe Calandra left the band. Kiss of the Scorpion, Baby. Great band and have all their albums, got a tattoo of the album cover, 'the Spine of God' on my shoulder. Prost aus Bayern! Rock ON!
Fun band - there's a kinda music-biz bs vibe around Wyndorf (similar to Al Jourgensen or Perry Farrell), but you can tell he LOVES his 70s rock and he was very ahead of the curve w/ the tongue in cheek, retro-rockin' irony-tinged vibe. Dude wanted to be a rock star and managed it by Power Trip (which gets a bit too late 90s insincere irony-tinged for me to get behind). I really dig the records beforehand though. And the newer ones are pretty good. The man knows his craft. White Zombie next maybe?
My Favorite Band Of All Time!!! My Personal Ranking Top To Bottom Of The Albums Mentioned Is: 1. Spine Of God 2. Powertrip 3. Dopes To Infinity 4. Monolithic Baby! 5. Superjudge 6. Last Patrol 7. Mastermind 8. God Says No 9. Mindf**ker 10. 4-Way Diablo 11. Tab…25 (or 25… Tab) And As A Bonus 12. Monster Magnet (1990 EP) 13. A Better Dystopia I Should Note That I Love Pretty Much All Of These Releases This Is Just How I Rank Them 😉
Monster Magnet is one of the bands I annoyed my wife with. She hadn't yet grasped just how much of an obsessive nerd I am. She'd gotten into them, got Dopes and Powertrip. Then I listened to them. And off I went, I got Spine, I got Superjudge, I read up on them (harder in the days before wiki), hooked on all his comic book ERB nerdiness, instantly I was a bigger fan of them that her. I always have to pick God Says No as my favorite. From that opening line on that album just talks to me. Thanks Jamie for getting Pete back into them so we could get this show. And no I didn't no Dystopia was a covers album. Pretty freaking covers album indeed.
My favorite Monster Magnet album is the one that has the song Space Lord on it. I'm not sure what that album is called, though. Can anybody tell me what it is?
1. Dopes to Infinity 2. Powertrip 3. Superjudge 4. God Says No 5. Monolithic Baby 6. Spine of God 7. Cobras & Fire (The Mastermind Mix) 8. Milking the Stars: A Re-Imagining of Last Patrol 9. 4-Way Diablo 10. Mindfucker 11. Mastermind 12. Tab...25 13. A Better Dystopia 14. Last Patrol
@@KevinOrtega1980 And honestly, I love them all. Very under-rated band. Dave's lyrics are like if Jack Kirby merged with Brock Sampson. The guitars always shred. They can do hooks. They can do melody. They can even do slow songs. Truly one of our best rock bands.
@@austinwoods466 I’ll have to check them out more then, the one MM song I remember they played a lot in the latter part of the 90’s was on the radio, unfortunately I can’t remember the name of the song or what album it was off of 🤦🏻♂️ I believe it was around the 1997-98 time frame
@@KevinOrtega1980 That was their radio hey-day. Their first radio hit was "Negasonic Teenage Wargead. Then Powertrip broke through lots of radio hits like "Crop Circle", "Space Lord", "Temple of Your Dreams", and "Powertrip" being the top ones. If it was on the radio it probably got a video and their videos are pretty hilarious. Rockon.
thanks for the list . I thought Wyndof did something else and quit MM haven't heard 7 through 14 ...maybe Tab 25 . I used to collect thier CDs still have super judge dopes and some of the singles
1. Powertrip 2. Monolithic Baby 3. Superjudge 4. Dopes To Infinity 5. Cobras and Fire (The Mastermind Redux) 6. Milking the Stars: A Re-Imagining of Last Patrol 7. Spine of God 8. Tab...25 9 Last Patrol 10. Mastermind 11. God Says No 12. A Better Dystopia 13. MindFucker 14. 4-Way Diablo
Two things I didn't hear mentioned: The self titled EP, which is more in line with Spine Of God and is in my opinion one of their strongest releases. God Says No had a different track list in Europe. It's been a long time since I heard it but I remember thinking they left off two of my favorite tracks for the US version. There is also a recent release called Test Patterns Vol 1 that is two early versions of the song "Tab". Spine Of God Dopes To Infinity Superjudge Tab ...25 Powertrip God Says No Monolithic Baby The rest I would have to listen to again to rank.
It's all great for me up to Monolithic Baby!, with a strong affinity to the 90's material. I think Dopes to Infinity is one of the greatest albums of the 90's and Powertrip, THE greatest ROCK album of the late 90's (97-99, not a great time for rock in general). I do really love that reimagining odds and sods of The Last Patrol, which they do in the early Monster Magnet style. Such a great band, they really should have gotten bigger than they did.
Long time fan of the band here. My list: 1. Dopes to Infinity (One of my all-time fav albums of any genre) 2. Superjudge 3. Spine of God 4. Last Patrol 4.5 Milking the Stars 5. Mastermind 5.5 Cobras and Fire 6. Monolithic Baby 7. Powertrip 8. God Says No 9. A Better Dystopia 10. Tab... 25 11. Mindfucker 12. 4-Way Diablo I don't much care for the bottom two (though each has some standout cuts). Tab is just dumb fun, but you can;t really take it too seriously. The covers album is cool but I tend to shelve covers albums quickly, this was no different.
Personally DTI is my favorite, SOG is second, PT third, and SJ fourth. Dopes is a very special album. It's one of those "it's always existed" pieces of art, iykwim. It's also one of the best, most meticulously produced rock albums ever, and imo, the best psychedelic rock record of all.
IMHO the first (self-titled) 27 minutes mini-album from 1990 would have deserved a honorable mention. It contains the band's first two singles Murder b/w Tractor and Lizard Johnny b/w Freakshop USA (released on two very short-lived labels) plus the original versions of Snake Dance and Nod Scene (!) from the 1989 cassette release "We're Stoned, What Are You Going To Do About It?" (both re-recorded for Spine Of God). It's not a real studio album of course, but prime material from the band's very early days and the direct forerunner of Spine Of God (including a somewhat abstract op-art version of the bull-god on the cover). The "Monster Magnet" Mini-LP was released on the German Glitterhouse label only (and being German I was fortunate enough to buy it it the same year, 1990) but is available on the Discogs market place or here on YT including full lyrics (omg) for most songs. If you're into the early MM space rock / Stooges / Kraut stuff you should definitely give it a listen: ua-cam.com/play/PL5A2FABE62071D999.html
yeah thought it was strange they sad Tab was the 1st EP its been released since all over so youd think theyd acknowledge it, like you heard it the year it came out and still have it, spine of god, tab, superjudge and dopes to infinity on vinyl but dropped off after that..when it slipped to much into metal...all downhill after mcbain left
Same as Pete, I kinda lost track of them along the way. Gonna have to check out some of these that I've missed. Side note...I always assumed "There's No Way Out Of Here" was a Gilmour song (which I loved). So I went and listened to the original by Unicorn. It's a mid-tempo country folk ballad. Holy crap, it's amazing! Also MM version is terrific. Bottom line...it's a great freakin' song.
Dopes to Infinity is, IMO, the best and greatest stoner rock album of all time My list: 1. Dopes to Infinity 2. Spine of God 3. Powertrip 4. Last Patrol 5. Mastermind 6. Superjudge 7. God Says No 8. Monolithic Baby 9. 4-Way Diablo 10. Mindfucker
Mindfucker is highly underrated. Hell, the band is highly underrated. Been listening to them since Superjudge. Did shots with Dave at the Peppermint Beach Club in Virginia Beach in 93 when they played with Paw and Raging Slab. Fast forward 10-15 years later to a Lunatic Luau in Va Beach and they played so early in the day that they stuck around and watched other bands. I bumped into Wyndorf and Mundell while watching Superjoint Ritual. Anselmo begs people to fuck each other up in the pit and Wyndorf looks at me and says “these motherfuckers are crazy”. Also told me they rarely play the states due to the fact they can’t make any money. They get paid well in Europe but not here. Sad
Most underrated band of all time but I have a feeling if they got bigger they'd have adapted to be more mainstream (they did this with Powertrip and God Days No, although both killer albums). Not getting big has kept Dave trying new things and I wouldn't change that for anything. Besides they sound fucking awesome in a club, who needs arenas!
Listening to "Mindfucker" it reminds me of the Canadian band The Headstones. A band to check out for those that don't know them. Another band more like the rest of MM's discography is Mos Generator, recently discovered them. Definitely worth checking out, been around over 20 years, but I only just heard 'em.
Headstones are probably my favorite band of all-time so I’ll definitely check out “mindfucker” Haven’t really listened to monster magnet since “mastermind”
@@christopher3922 Mindfucker is way more "in your face" I find. Pete suggested Biker Metal, I guess so (?) . I find it's more like Headstones can be when they go more punk. I saw Headstones like 4 times back in the '90s. Some small clubs and stadiums, they were awesome live 👍
Not that it matters, but as a long time MM fan & 68 year old hippie, I'll throw my 2 cents in. First off... "Powertrip" is one of my least favorite albums by the band. Way too over produced & commercial sounding for me. On the other hand, the next album, "God Says No" is one of my favorites. Whenever I'm having a bad day & I'm really pissed at the world, "Melt" cranked to the max always makes me feel things will be OK & soothes my soul. My favorite hands down though is "Dopes to Infinity". It's an absolute mind fucker! My other choices lean more towards the older psych stuff, although I really think the "redux" re-releases are pretty damn good as well & I like them much better than the original's. That's just my quick 2 cents.
Not sure how anyone can have such a low opinion of God Says No. One of their best tracks is hands down All Shook Out. It's so dynamic, has an intro, middle, and last verse is like a climax: "I'm riding history with the back of my hand, just like your daddy did in viet name. I said Children of the Atom, let's get together and die!" Dave knows how to put together a song...
There is also the Monster Magnet e.p. that came out before tab....25, in 1990 and its really good, just a little bit underproduced, about 28 minutes, 6 songs or so, 2 that made it on to Spine, an early version of Tractor and three others some of which might be covers, the book on my copy has no liner notes, just psychedelic squiglly shit.
Powertrip at #1 for me by a landslide. I don't think there's anything commercial sounding on that record. 10/10, one of the best albums of the 90s. #2 is Dopes, also love that one to death. Can't rank the rest, they are more or less equal to me. All good with some great songs here and there, but I think those two rise way above everything else.
Dopes To Infinity- absolutely played this to death and still love it Superjudge- the first MM album I bought. Power Trip Monolithic Baby Mastermind God Says No 4-Way Diablo Lost Patrol Mindfucker I don’t have Spine Of God or Tab. Will have to remedy that soon
I didn't like God Says No when it came out but it sounds way better to my older ears. Nice choice. Its hard to pick a number one with these albums. Spine, Dopes, and Powertrip are all my favs when they are on.
There’s a few I don’t have but love monster magnet I’ll rank what I got 1 Dopes to infinity 2 Superjudge 3 Powertrip 4 God says no 5 Spine of god 6 Monolithic baby 7 Tab 8 Mastermind 9 4 way Diablo
My entrance was Dopes and I am like you Pete I just stopped following at one point but by no fault of the band. Looks like I have some catching up to do. Thanks for my playlist tonight guys!
Love me some Monster Magnet. I agree almost totally with Jamie so no need to write out my own list, though I'd probably put Powertrip at number 1, but it's close. Pete's list is whack.
@@sotdude7 No offense intended. It was meant in a joking way. I appreciate your love for the music, & I'm just glad to have one more MM fan. I'm going to re-listen to some of the albums I haven't heard for awhile in the coming days and see if I change my opinions at all.

14. Cobras & Fire
15. A Better Dystopia
Great show guys. One of my favourite bands
As I understood it the tab album was a throwaway to get off the label they were on. The label wanted one more album from them
Laszlo rules!! I saw MM on the "Dopes To Infinity" tour. I was front row. Dave kept taking his Strat off and windmill swinging it by the strap. I had to keep leaning back to not get taken the eff out! They were amazing!
I been WAITING for this for soooo long. Thank you Pete!
Thanks, Jamie and Pete, for this ranking episode. Not familiar with the band so onto the SoT listening list they go.
Always love hearing from Jamie about the bands Jamie loves
God Says No and Cobras and Fire: The Mastermind Redux are my 2 favorite MM records by far. Milking the Stars is good too, get both of the redux albums everybody!
Fun episode guys! Hearing "God Says No" when things just don't work out, lol. So true Jamie! A tough ranking. I actually like "Mastermind" quite a bit, it challenges the top 2 that remain from when I got into MM over 25 years ago. The opening tracks of "Dopes", damn!
1. Powertrip 1998
2. Dopes to Infinity 1995
3. Mastermind 2010
4. Last Patrol 2013
5. Monolithic Baby! 2004
6. Tab 1991
7. A Better Dystopia 2021
8. Mindfucker 2018
9. God Says No 2000
10. 4-Way Diablo 2007
11. Superjudge 1993
12. Spine of God 1991
One thing I cannot do is rank the catalog because they are so good. I did finally get to see them in Manchester 2018. 😻
Great live band, too!
12) God Says No
11) Monolithic Baby!
10) 4-Way Diablo
9) Last Patrol
8) Mindfucker
7) A Better Dystopia
6) Superjudge
5) Spine of God
4) Mastermind
3) Tab
2) Powertrip
1) Dopes to Infinity ("Negasonic..." could play on a loop for 24 hours and I'd still want to hear it more)
I really don't ever listen to my #11 & 12, but other than that I can put any of these on and have a great time.
Loved this episode. Was waiting for this ever since I knew you guys were going to rate this catalogue. I am a monster Monster Magnet fan. Here is my rating. I love them all, but here goes.
10. Superjudge
9. 4 Way Diablo
8. Spine of God
7. Powertrip
6. Monolithic Baby
5. Mindfucker
4. Last Patrol
3. Mastermind
'2. Dopes to Infinity
1 God Says No
honourable mentions - Milking the Stars, Cobras and Fire, 25 and Tab and A Better Dystopia. Like I said, Monstrous Monster Magnet fan here!
Cool vid guys. I’m like Pete where I listened to them a ton in the 90s but lost track of them in 2000s. Picked up their last couple albums the last couple years when they came out and going to work backwards in the catalogue now. 🤟
No disrespect to any of your other guests, but I think Jamie is by far my favourite of your regular co-hosts! His energy is downright infectious :)
I was waiting and requesting this one for a while
Already have changed things around several times but for today here it is
#11- Tab 25
#10- Last Patrol
#9- God Says No
#8- Superjudge
#7- Mindfucker
#6- Mastermind
#5- 4-Way Diablo
#4- Monolithic
#3- Spine of God
#2- Dopes to Infinity
#1- Powertrip
Dopes was my introduction to the band and was hooked.
Then for a solid month after that.
thanks for that - great stuff!
Great episode!!
Have been a fan since Superjudge was released in 1993when I saw in Jack's Music in Red Bank NJ it was an Employees #1 pick of the week! went back the following week and
bought the EP, 25.....tab and Spine of God and been a Fanatic since, and felt they got better with every release. And A Better Dystopia hasn't left my car for months after it's release!
Had my ranking done, then I watched this episode and went back and listened to Mindfucker and 4-Way Diablo a little more and found a new appreciation for them and moved them
up a couple of slots! with that said, here we go...
11. 25.........tab (I really have to be in the mood for this one!)

Yes! Coming from the tape Era, I'm jazzed to see this.
Lost Patrol, Dopes to Infinity, and Superjudge remain favorites...
I'm biased to the song King of Mars, as I've covered it with a version.
Dark Tranquillity with Steeve! Great you are getting to that one. I suggested to both of you some time ago. I am patient 😁
Thanks for this one. Saw MM with Manson in 1999 and they were awesome.

Fantastic band.
My Personal Ranking Top To Bottom Of The Albums Mentioned Is:
1. Spine Of God
2. Powertrip
3. Dopes To Infinity

10. 4-Way Diablo
11. Tab…25 (or 25… Tab)
And As A Bonus
12. Monster Magnet (1990 EP)
13. A Better Dystopia
I Should Note That I Love Pretty Much All Of These Releases This Is Just How I Rank Them 😉
Monster Magnet is one of the bands I annoyed my wife with.
1. Dopes to infinity

11. Mastermind
12. Tab...25
13. A Better Dystopia
14. Last Patrol
Damn I didn’t know they had that many albums
1. Powertrip
2. Monolithic Baby
3. Superjudge
4. Dopes To Infinity
5. Cobras and Fire (The Mastermind Redux)
6. Milking the Stars: A Re-Imagining of Last Patrol
7. Spine of God
8. Tab...25
9 Last Patrol
10. Mastermind
11. God Says No
12. A Better Dystopia
13. MindFucker
14. 4-Way Diablo
I was only thinking about if you had done MM rankings a few days ago lol
Two things I didn't hear mentioned:
The self titled EP, which is more in line with Spine Of God and is in my opinion one of their strongest releases.
God Says No had a different track list in Europe. It's been a long time since I heard it but I remember thinking they left off two of my favorite tracks for the US version.
There is also a recent release called Test Patterns Vol 1 that is two early versions of the song "Tab".
Spine Of God
Dopes To Infinity
Superjudge
Tab ...25
Powertrip
God Says No
Monolithic Baby
The rest I would have to listen to again to rank.
Love me some Monster Magnet and fellow New Jerseyan 🤘🤘
Long time fan of the band here. My list:
1. Dopes to Infinity (One of my all-time fav albums of any genre)
2. Superjudge
3. Spine of God
4. Last Patrol
4.5 Milking the Stars
5. Mastermind
5.5 Cobras and Fire
6. Monolithic Baby
7. Powertrip
8. God Says No
9. A Better Dystopia
10. Tab... 25
11. Mindfucker
12. 4-Way Diablo
I don't much care for the bottom two (though each has some standout cuts).
Love it all
Same as Pete, I kinda lost track of them along the way.
Love cobras and fire
Dopes to Infinity is, IMO, the best and greatest stoner rock album of all time
My list:
1. Dopes to Infinity
2. Spine of God
3. Powertrip
4. Last Patrol
5. Mastermind
6. Superjudge
7. God Says No
8. Monolithic Baby
9. 4-Way Diablo
10. Mindfucker
4 way Diabolo is such a favourite 🤟
Sad
Furthermore I think 4 Way Diablo is the lowest ranked MM album in my opinion.
Hungover Sunday viewing par excellence. Oh the states I have been in to the earlier part of that catalogue 😂🙄
Didn’t recall either one of you mentioning the self titled Glitterhouse release. Technically that’s their first album right?
I thought I was the only one to rank God Says No at the top!!
Monster magnet should be way way more popular they are just awesome
Agreed!
Headstones are probably my favorite band of all-time so I’ll definitely check out “mindfucker”
Haven’t really listened to monster magnet since “mastermind”
@@christopher3922 Mindfucker is way more "in your face" I find. Pete suggested Biker Metal, I guess so (?) . I find it's more like Headstones can be when they go more punk. I saw Headstones like 4 times back in the '90s. Some small clubs and stadiums, they were awesome live 👍
Hey, he's wearing my Hawkwind tee shirt.
1) Powertrip
2) Monolithic Baby!
3) Dopes to Infinity
4) Superjudge
5) Spine of God
6) God Says No
7) Mastermind
8) Tab
9) Last Patrol
10) 4-Way Diablo
11) Mindfucker
Good band...😃👍
Omg Jamie was just cracking me up throughout. 😂
1. Mastermind / Cobras & Fire
2. Powertrip
3. Mindfucker
4. Monolithic Baby
5. God Says No
6. Last Patrol
7. Dopes to Infinity
8. 4-Way Diablo
9. Superjudge
10. A Better Dystopia
Nice, MM binge day!
Yes!!! Great lyrics and kick ass song....a lot of great tracks on that album
Dopes To Infinity- absolutely played this to death and still love it
Superjudge- the first MM album I bought.
Power Trip
Monolithic Baby
Mastermind
God Says No
4-Way Diablo
Lost Patrol
Mindfucker
I don’t have Spine Of God or Tab. Will have to remedy that soon
I didn't like God Says No when it came out but it sounds way better to my older ears. Nice choice. Its hard to pick a number one with these albums. Spine, Dopes, and Powertrip are all my favs when they are on.
I heard Dave didn't like the production on God Says No cuz he thought it was too slick and polished, but that's the reason why I DO like it
There’s a few I don’t have but love monster magnet I’ll rank what I got
1 Dopes to infinity
2 Superjudge
3 Powertrip
4 God says no
5 Spine of god
6 Monolithic baby
7 Tab
8 Mastermind
9 4 way Diablo
God Say No. GODDAMN RIGHT!
I love Spine of God so much I had an 8-track tape custom made for me.
Never heard to be honest ...thank you Pete , thanx Jammie ( little less w next time )😉🤣
TODAY: 1. Dopes to Infinity; 2. Last Patrol; 3. 25... Tab; 4. 4-Way Diablo; 5. Mastermind; 6. Minfucker; 7. Spine of God; 8. Superjudge; 9. Powertrip; 10. God Says No; 11. Monolithic Baby.
YESTERDAY: 1. Dopes to Infinity; 2. Spine of God; 3. 25... Tab; 4. Superjudge; 5. Powertrip; 6. God Says No.
TOMORROW?
EJECTION- song 🎵 from 2️⃣0️⃣1️⃣8️⃣ = top 40 hit - if given proper air play on fm radio etc - in my opinion 👍💯
❤
In the morning our minds are fresh, and ready to be corrupted.
Not to me…
@@sotdude7 No offense intended. It was meant in a joking way. I appreciate your love for the music, & I'm just glad to have one more MM fan. I'm going to re-listen to some of the albums I haven't heard for awhile in the coming days and see if I change my opinions at all.
Hold on, “All friends and kingdom come” is the best song on that album.
I guess I’m a moody sob, “Last Patrol”, is #1.
“Powertrip”, #2 and “Mastermind”, #3.
How are we not mentioning that Twin Earth is a major rip-off of Captain Beyond's Memorization Eclipse??? :( Has to be mentioned...
NetZero?! i know some people who still have AOL email addresses
Where have you been hiding this guy at, Pete ?
I've actually been on pretty regularly for the last three years.
