I’ve just watched this episode for the 50th time. By far the best content ever from SOT. When King Alo tells Pete the story of meeting the director from Part 5 is GOLD. SOT IS THE BEST CHANNEL ON UA-cam 🤘🏻
Chris 'I hate this movie. Got 5 versions of it, though....'
The sign of a true fan!
@@kevindudley9617 "This movie sucked! I bought the VHS, the DVD, and the Blu Ray...and it sucked every time." Love Alo.
"OK...can you sign the poster..."
He has a disorder let him alone lol
@@Peatmoss0979 it's a disorder I would love to have the extra money to afford such a habit. Can't take the money with you, may as well waste it . It will save your family a lot of drama in the future
The drowning of Jason in Part 6 makes a little sense, since he "drowned" when he was a kid.
Very cool! GREAT idea incorporating the "ranking" series into the Monster's Den!
How about a ranking of the Hammer Dracula movies.
I love Pete and Chris together. I never get tired of Chris' rambling on. 🙂👍👊
Nightmare on Elm street next!! 😻😈🤘🏾🤎🖤✊🏿
First 15 minutes of Jason Goes to Hell was epic .
Most definitely. Totally didn't expect that
Thanks to Alo and Pardo for starting the movie ranking series of The Monster's Den. Very interesting and informative. I have laughed several times at Chris' propensity to buy multiple copies of something and then got to thinking that, well, in music I likely bought the original album, then an 8 track, then a cassette and then at least one CD version of most of the hundreds of albums originally owned. So thanks, Chris, for making me laugh at myself, too. Looking forward to the next movie ranking episode of the Den and thanks again for creating shows that are fun to watch.
YES!! I have long said that Part 4 was my favorite, although it seems that most people go with the original movie. The ending of Part 4 with Jason's head going down the machete along with Crispin Glover's dancing makes it the best.
Chris Alo is a legend. He's always such a great guest on your show, Pete.
That's right!!!
Well done guys! And I was pumped to see that you also rank The Final Chapter (despite the misleading title) as your favorite, as it is mine is well. You took the words right out of my mouth--the "quintessential" Friday the 13th movie.
"Crystal Lake Memories: The Complete History of Friday the 13th" The definitive 400-minute-long documentary on the entire series. Well worth your time.
If at least Chris hasn't seen it, I would be very surprised.
Great to have a feature length Monster's Den on my day off. Cracking open a chilled bottle of white!
Saw every one in the theater since part 1. I actually love Jason Lives
Love lives!!!
Love the fact that Chris was going to see these films as a 10 year old. My 10 year old son got freaked out by the baddie taking his teeth out in Skyfall!
Awesome show! Very cool idea to rank horror movies. I would love to see many more horror ranking videos.
Chris and Pete another awesome show! This franchise are fun movies
Part 6 has always been my favourite. I love all of the original 8 Friday movies though. Even the bad ones (5/8) I still find them really entertaining. They also age like fine wine for me. As I get older and there’s less movies coming out that I can relate to I can always put on one of the Fridays and I’ll be happy for 90minutes.
6 is my favorite as well. Love that movie!
@@kforcer Mine too.I love how they bring Jason back.
Now the real question is, can we get a ranking episode of the entire Toho Godzilla series. Lol.
We will be ranking by era soon
@@sotdude7 this is beyond exciting!
“It still bothers me to this day” lol.Me too Chris! His look completely changed from part 2 to part 3.
Best films in the series Part 4, 6 and the remake.
Really really great episode and idea .
I really like the soundtrack for part 6.
Good job Pete and Chris, really enjoy this series. It is pretty simple for me, the first 4 in order then the rest lumped into a pick'em grab bag.
What a fun video! I really enjoyed this one. Great idea to rank this classic franchise! Thanks guys!
Love the new idea of ranking the horror franchise's. Halloween and Texas Chainsaw would be great additions! And thanks Chris, I didn't know this was out. That is a awesome looking box set! Time to upgrade all these DVDs!
I like the first one to be honest. It sets the scene for others to follow. Fantastic acting by Betsy Palmer
In retrospect, I think it's still the best along with Part 2. The ones that followed would get more silly as they went along, but watchable and fun of course. I love Part 7, it's almost like a stand-alone horror story about telekinesis so it can be watched like that as well. Lincoln made a great debut as a young hooker in the TV movie Children of the Night (1985), with Kathleen Quinlan and Nicholas Campbell.
@@LarryFleetwood8675 Jason wearing the paper bag over his head in Part 2 was kind of in honor of The Town That Dreaded Sundown (1976) which is still one of my fav horror films of all time
@@preving Yes, so simple an idea saw it in theaters back then, first Friday I saw and thought it was very creepy.
@@LarryFleetwood8675 Agreed. First time i saw it Larry, it creeped me right out.
Just bought the boxset off of amazon. Chris sold me on it. Can't wait to watch!
Cant believe u both have Jason Lives so low. Its AWESOME,so self aware,in on the joke but so good doing it.
1) Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter
2) Friday the 13th: Part VI: Jason Lives
3) Friday the 13th: Part 2
4) Friday the 13th: A New Beginning
5) Friday the 13th (1980)
6) Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday
7) Friday the 13th: Part III
8) Freddy vs. Jason
9) Friday the 13th (2009)
10)Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan
11)Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood
12)Jason X
When I saw Jason X in a theater originally, there is a part where a female character yells out "THIS SUCKS ON SO MANY LEVELS!" I just blurted out "I agree!" and got a round of applause from other people suffering through that turkey along with me.
Great list!!!!!
I love the first one BUT I have to agree with Part 4!! It probably is my favorite, although 1, 2 & 3 are all good too! I have the first 8 on dvd, I don't think I've ever seen anything newer than that. Might have to give them a watch! Great vid guys!
Great episode!!! Got to do Halloween series🤘🤘 agree with both your lists...just give top3....1) Part two..2) Original 3) Final Chapter....Chris rules🤘🤘
Yessir, mine too. The simplicity, the woods, the brutality, the creepy fn music-man, it don’t get better than that
1.Part 2
2.Part 6
3.Jason X
My ranking is based on how often i re-watch them.
Friday the 13th
Best to Worst 2020 Edition:
6,4,2,X,1,5,7,Vs,3,Reboot,9,8.
This was after my rewatching last year after getting the new box set.
But I literally change my mind every time I watch them.
Looking forward to your lists.
A New Beginning is worth it for the Porta potty scene alone lol!
i love my scream factory box set. the alternative covers are so cool
How about ranking the Halloween and Elm Street movies? Oh, and Top 5 John Carpenter? Top 5 Stephen King adaptations?
my favorites part 4 too. put that into your computer pete and Chris😅
I have enjoyed a lot this video!! I hope you are thinking of doing the same with other famous horror franchises like Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, Psycho, The Exorcist, The Omen, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre... It´s a lot of fun, specially with the great Chris Alo. Keep going!!!
This series is easy watching horror comfort food. 4 was my introduction when I was 9 or 10 and is still my favourite. Joe Zito directed Invasion USA, which is also a mighty fun hoot 🤟
The first one: proof that Betsy Palmer was one underrated actress! She's still missed.
The second I started watching this segment, I placed the final chapter as my favorite. Nice to see great minds think alike 😁
Thanks guys enjoy this stuff would recommend you rank the Halloween films too
A lot of fun, guys, but wow - FRIDAY 6: JASON LIVES for me is right behind THE FINAL CHAPTER, one of the best in the series. Most fans have it as 1 or 2, so it's very rare to see it ranked so low by two fans. But that's part of what makes such discussions interesting. Much appreciated.
Could you guys rank all the classic Amicus horror anthologies from Dr. Terror's House of Horror (1965) to Monster Club (1981)?
I'd love to see you guys rank the Nightmare On Elm St. series next!! Easily my favorite film series of all time
Great list! You should do the Hellraiser movies list
I am eating a banana in honour of the fallen hitchhiker from part 4. Rip.
I actually never saw any of the movies I guess I will have to check them out now ☺️ I willing definitely watch more monstersden if there are more rankings of movies
You got to read on location in Blair town the making of Friday the 13th. I really like it.david grove does a good job. There are a bunch of interviews with the actors, and producers.
Something charming about the pre-hockey mask couple of films, as I usually refer to parts 1 & 2. 3 is also fun, after that too formulaic in my opinion.
fantastic topic choice
Part 3 retconned Jason's size. Although I agree that it is dumb that he does not have the overalls, which should have been in the flashback.
Never disagree with Chris Alo.....He is the king of horror reviews....
Great video - lovin your work Pete! (music and movies). My alternative rankings would be:
1) Part 4 - Final Chapter
2) Part 6 - Jason Lives
3) Part 7 - New Blood
4) Friday 13th (remake)
5) Part 2 - one with the wheelchair (!)
6) Part 1 (original)
7) Freddie vs Jason
8) Part 8 - Manhatten one
9) Jason X
10) Part 3 - 3D
11) Jason goes to Hell
12) Part 5 - New Beginning
They're all fun though!
As a huge horror fan. I have 4/5 sets of F13 myself DVD/Blu-Ray. You know eventually a 4K set is coming. Most would agree between the good and the bad, but as a fan they are enjoyable. Every once in a while I pull them out and go through the series. A kill or two were ripped from Mario Bava's A Bay of Blood aka Twitch of The Death Nerve.
well now I have to suggest ranking puppet master, nightmare on elm street, halloween, hellraiser, child's play, saw, texas chainsaw massacre, the howling, etc.
I remember Hellraiser being covered.
@@ukrocksounds3419 I know they spoke about the first 3,but I don't think they've ranked the whole series
Part 6 was the best, especially the James Bond intro.
Horror movies and metal have been a huge part of my life since I was 8 years old
1 and 2 are untouchable for what amount of story they do manage to include. 3 and 4 are also awesome because of the special effects budgets. I wouldn't be bothered much if none happened since.
I would also like to add that ranking the films of a particular horror franchise is a terrific idea. How about the Halloween franchise next?
Great idea with the rankings. If I can put in a request Halloween series would be it.
I don't know the exact day this video was posted, but I'd like to give a nod to Mark Richman (he was in Jason Takes Manhatten) who passed on Jan 14th. Besides many great rolls in movies/TV, he married in 1953 and remaind with her until his death.
and… the whole series owes its existence to Halloween
Is it worth getting My Name is Jason if you have Crystal Lake Memories?
Chris has the cuts the Director hasn't. 😂😂😂
I feel like the bad ones outnumber the good ones, but overall they are all a lot of fun. ALWAYS cool to see Chris. I feel like literally every word out of him is somehow something interesting. Wish i could say the same for myself, haha.
Easily my favorite horror franchise. Thanks guys for putting this together.
1. Part 2
2. Friday the 13th
3. Part 3
4. Part 4
5. The New Beginning
The rest have their moments and are okay with moments of fun and mayhem but require viewing to rank. I just know that Jason X and Part 8 are scraping the bottom. Freddy vs. Jason was a major disappointment and the end result was "why did they bother?".
Was K Bacon performance in this before Animal House?
Part 2, Part 4 and Part 6 is top 3 for me. Difficult too choose order doh
Did Chris get the replacement discs for the discs that had issues?
6 is my favorite I don't care if that's wrong
I still adore this series. My wife and I had a Friday the 13th a thon a few months ago and will probably do another one soon. Here is my ranking for Friday the 13th movies:
12. Jason X
11. Jason takes Manhattan
10. Jason Goes to Hell
9. Freddy vs Jason
8. The New Blood
7. A New Beginning
6. Friday the 13th (2009)
5. Jason Lives
4. Friday the 13th pt. 3
3. The Final Chapter
2. Friday the 13th pt 2
1. Friday the 13th (1980)
Great episode. I also think this is one of the franchise that I have the most fun with. Keep in mind that the first 8 were made in the 80s! which was the best decade for slashers. Nowdays, they would hack you to death with jason's machete with social messages (looking at you Blumhouse). Also, I wonder how they got David Cronenberg to do a cameo in JasonX. Although he was AWESOME in NightBreed.
The Final Chapter is the best. Such a shame they had to do “quick cuts” to avoid seeing the full kill sequences due to the MPAA crackdown. Now you can get away with anything these days! Lol.
Except that stuff like Saw focuses so much on gore and violence that the suspense and atmosphere suffer. If anything the violence restrictions may have not been such a bad thing.
Final Chapter has by far the most violence in the series.
@@ryanjacobson2508 Yeah, that is also shown with a lot of Friday movies as well. Many of these movies cared more about kills than suspense and atmosphere.
I just got the Scream Factory box set, love all of these except parts 8 and 9.
I recommend the music video "A New Beginning" from the band "Wolfie's Just Fine", a great homage to the Friday 13th franchise.
Part 6 is my favorite by a long shot. 4-6 are definitely my favorite three, 7 is probably my favorite after that. I actually kinda like Jason Takes Manhattan though, especially Julius's courageous last stand on the rooftop. It was cool to see a guy standing up to Jason. I would have loved Jason Goes to Hell if they had just been able to use Tommy Jarvis as they apparently intended to. Totally on-point about The Hidden! But nonetheless, I'd have loved a version of The Hidden starring Tommy Jarvis!
For me, it's always gonna be part 1. In 1985, TV had a marathon of the first 4 in a row, and I had never been allowed to see these. I just love the ominous feeling of the old bike guy, and they really capture the feeling of the camp experience, as I was in camp myself in the late 70s, and the ending revealing someone new, while we all thought the killer was the old bike guy. I agree that Part 4 was real good also. Those later ones - Manhattan and x are really unwatchable. Part 6 is probably the last one I like. Reboots decent
Part 3 and Part 2 have the magic. They have always had the magic, and the epic end chase scene in Part 3 is the zenith of the series.
Love this series! Jason Lives and Freddy VS Jason are tied for my favorite. Final Chapter is a close second.
I checked out from the series after the fourth one, I saw all of them when they came out...but all of those were good, the first one is still such a classic of the genre. Would be cool if they brought the mother back somehow in a low budget/lo-fi a la’ the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Maybe with Jason with the bag on his head a la’ #2, always thought the bag was creepier than the hockey mask. The pace, atmosphere and camera shots are what made the first one so great, something that’s mostly lacking in the others...too many gimmicks and silliness.
It's all part of the continuity. Amy Steele pulled off the sack because she wanted to look at his face, then he's been walking around with nothing covering his face until he finds the hockey mask. Kind of weird but whatever lol. Also I think 2 3 and 4 take place within just a few days of eachother. But then since it's a flashback from the summer before or something it really doesn't make much sense lol
Top 10 universal monster movies and top 10 hammer horror films would be awesome.
Hopefully coming soon!
@@seaoftranquilityprog great thanks
The Hatchet series starring Kane Hodder are also good slasher films.
Yes, fun movies!
Love this channel. Pete is pretty damn cool ☺
Kinda surprised none of you commented on the «genius» distinction between real Jason and fake Jason in Part V, where the markings on the mask are blue when it’s the paramedic Roy Burns, while the original Jason mask has red markings.
Yea what I like about the (Final chapter) is its very dark, and Jason is learking more in the shadows in this film except at the end.
" Girl having sex with a guy" ...in every Friday movie. Lmao
Part 1
Part 2
Part 4 - Final Chapter
Part 3
Part 7 - New Blood
Part 6 - Jason Lives
Part 8 - Jason Takes Manhattan
Friday the 13th (2009)
Part 5 - New Beginning
Part 10 - Jason X
Freddy vs. Jason
Part 9 - Jason Goes to Hell
Great video! Here’s my ranking!
12. Jason Goes To Hell
11. Jason X
10. Part 8: Jason Takes Manhattan
9. Freddy VS Jason
8. 2009 Remake
7. Part 7: The New Blood
6. Part 6: Jason Lives
5. Friday The 13th
4. Part 3
3. Part 5: A New Beginning
2. Part 2
1. Part 4: The Final Chapter
Also, Chris rules. Love your commentary.
Would like a similar show on the Halloween films, some good and bad there too
I always liked the 2nd one best.
VI was always my favorite. I thought i encompassed everything that Friday the 13th should be.
I went to look up Savage Streets because of this video.
What’s the best / most creative kill through all the series??
He had the sack in the beginning of the 2009 reboot also before he found the H.mask !
Savage streets is great!! "Go fuck an iceberg" classic
Jason in Manhattan is great :P .... But my favorite is the second one when Jason 1st appear ;)
I'm such a sucker for all of these movies (except JGTH)... I even love Jason X AND the 2009 reboot! Part 4 is great but I've always been a fan of Part 3.
Part VIII has my favourite cover art and 'The Darkest Sign of the Night' by Metropolis is fucking killer.
