  • My brand-new GoPro Hero 11 Black's rear screen started flickering after just a few weeks of very light use. I contacted GoPro support and after having me try a manual firmware update, they said it was probably a manufacturing defect and replaced it under warranty. Here is a link to the support thread: community.gopr.... Here's a video about some more issues with GoPro cameras by ‪@NPLVentures‬: • Why Everyone is Abando... . If you've had the same problem, please leave a comment and let other users know if you were able to fix it!

    I have the exact same problem with a new GoPro 12. It seemed to work OK initially, but after fully charging the main screen began flickering severely. I have been unable to fix it with updates or resets to the camera. Looks very similar to what your 11 did only it happened sooner. I'm returning it and also hoping the second one is alright.

      It's the same for me, I've had my GoPro 12 for about two weeks now with very light usage, and after letting it charge for about a day the screen started flickering. A manual update didn't solve anything.

    Mine is six days old and has a slightly different problem in that there was a ring (like a frame) that flickered. Resetting the camera didn't work so I am returning it. Interestingly I had it connected to a USB via my Mac overnight to download videos. The camera said no battery but there was one in it. I took the battery out and back in again and the battery was fine. I guess it overheated as it was quite warm to the touch. It did the same thing outside so it wasn't the 50/60hz setting. It still did it after cooling down for 3 hours.

    Brand new Hero 11 Black, 1 month of usage - this happened to me probably after type-c connection to computer. I have GoPro webcam on my laptop since it doesn't have an integrated webcam. The connection somehow never established, during the plug in and out process camera exposed to heat -* when I touch it battery and body was hot. I am not 100% sure but I noticed the flicker after this so...

    Hey there! Just happened to see this video coz I’ve had the same issue with my gopro 11. I just bought it 10 days ago and after light use too, it started flickering and has vertical lines on the screen. Though I can still use it. It sucks to experience this not long enough after I bought it!
    But I am in the Philippines and replacement is not promised tho it happened to me after I updated my gopro 11.
    Hope you got your replacement! I just hope that go pro will see this issue. It’s such a relief to know that I am not the only one who’s experienced it.

      I got my replacement and it's been fine so far - I've been using it in cold weather, although I have just been doing ~1 hour videos during the day, I have not left it outside overnight for star trails. It does seem surprising how many people are having this issue - I tried replying to the support thread and contacting GoPro on Twitter to see if it's a known manufacturing defect at this point, but they didn't reply. I hope you can get yours replaced!

    • @andrewford80
      @andrewford80 Рік тому +2

      @@XerianPrince ours is ok now. The flickering subsided once it cooled and we now avoid the conditions which cause it.
      When you connect it to your computer, the go pro needs to be on for file transfer. This condition drains the battery and causes the GoPro to heat up. Which induces flickering .
      Make sure if it's connected and you've finished downloading the files that you turn it off. It will then charge and not overheat.
      However. This brings me to my next gripe. When downloading files direct from the device, it's painfully slow and the time stamp on the files is reset to the time of the file copy. Not the time the video was taken
      I swear, GoPro are fucking hopeless.
      If you can, you're better off not connecting to your computer at all and just using a memory card reader then ALL of the above mentioned issues will never happen.
