Very very cool and informative, CADRollHunter! I've never seen one of those with the RMP on the reverse. I might have to start getting me some quarter boxes back into my routine for box hunting! Cheers!
I'm still looking for that elusive 1973 "Large Bust." I know mine's out there - just gotta find it!
Looks like chances are coming to you. It ain't luck. Luck is supernatural beliefs.
It is by chances. Look for the right one at the right time. Collecting comes with patience. Trust me, it pays off.
That's very true. Coin roll hunting is all about taking as many opportunities you can to find something. There's something of a mathematical certainty about it. You're bound to find interesting things when your deliberately looking, and looking at high volumes!
@@CADRollHunter I also think it has to do with probably chances.
In the U.S. over the one and a half century or so on estimate, they did melt a LOT of currency.
If the currency cannot run forever, why keep a bunch of it out if you could melt it down and keep the overrun of currency from happening?
Quite a lot of Silver coins got melted for a reason. I am lucky to have an old one such as an 1890 Silver Dime.
What is very sad to know, is that Clar Currency is less valuable than Silver or Copper currency. When they changed the Quarters and Dimes down in the U.S. to Clad coinage, the coins dropped value because Silver gave it more worth. Due to the value and use of Silver however, they had to cut off using Silver for coinage.
Same with Copper in 1982. Copper price was going up. They cannot just make more Copper Pennies for use if they cannot recover the amount they had to pay for to do it. But as for what happened in 1965, the Zinc Cents didn't have as much value.
I do not know how the Nickels run exactly with usage of Copper-Nickel planchettes.
But you get the picture.
When they cut off usage of Silver and Copper, the coinage went down in worth of value. A Clad Quarter isn't worth full 25¢ but rather more like 14¢, such as a 2021 for example. If the 2021 Quarter was Silver, it would be better with around 23¢ worth. Silver is going up and down on price too.
The lower the mintage of a currency, the lower your chances of finding it are. If a lot of coins had already been melted, your chances are even less.
I have 4 rolls of quarter horses to go through now.
Good luck! Hope you find the rare one!
I got one large bust.🎉
Nice! Still looking for mine!!
Thanks for sharing this information. I found one from a grocery shopping I was so excited. I came home it looked like large bust , the beads looked close , believe it or not I took photo of it and started to count the beads , hoping 132 beads. unfortunately NO : )))
Keep looking!! you never know!
That coin is identical to mine. I have twelve of them, but I have one that looks like it has a second flag about midway down from the top, just like yours kind of looks like. "Coincidence"? Yes I do see the pun in the word as well
Thanks for watching!!
I have a large bust and a small bust where can I sell them and what’s the best way to go about it
I suppose you could try eBay. The small bust is very common in high grades and isn't really worth trying to sell. The large bust is very hard to come by, but I'd strongly advise having it authenticated and graded by ICCS first. The prices you see in the price guides (like the $3,500 I mention is only for coins that have been graded. If it hasn't been graded, you can expect to get only a fraction of the price listed in the guides.
I don't wanna bring or anything but I remember coming across that Exact quarter in the 90s when I was a kid I remember those 2 distinct X scratches
Lol! Well, it travelled all the way over here just to star in this UA-cam Short! ;)
I got it!!!!!
Nice! They're out there. Still looking for mine!
Hi. ,, just wondering what you could tell me about the 1983 can quarter??
I only have 2 , after searching for 40+ yrs , I’m thinking they must b a very low mintage ?
Thank you in advance
They're lower mintage for sure. Just over 10M minted. So not rare, by any stretch, but you won't find them as often as other years. Also, the mint is actively removing older coins from circulation with the alloy recovery program, so they'll ve harder to find over time.
I found One
That's awesome! I'm still looking for mine!
1968 Regina quarter does the small and large bust matter? I have a large bust 68 Regina so I'm curious if it matters or not
It only matters on the 1973 where they made both sizes of bust. In the 1968, there's only the large bust.
They're still out there - people are still finding them today!
That didnt answer my question..sounds more like a bot
@@ryanbrassard6634 Definitely not a bot... I don't know why your two coins weigh differently just from the information you sent me. I would need to know more, which is why I asked you a couple of additional questions. It could be some issue with one of the planchets that was 'thin' or was somehow out of specification. To have a better idea, I'd want to know: Do they look the same. Are there any visual differences between the two coins? Are they both in the same condition? The answers to those questions will help me to take a more educated guess at an answer. But it's hard to know without seeing them. You can send me pics of the two coins to cadrollhunter@gmail.com and I can see if anything is apparent.
@@ryanbrassard6634 He wasn't trying to answer the queston with that comment.
I have one of this coin
I have those how do I get the money?
Well, it would have to be the Large Bust. If you have one, you could sell it to a dealer. If you think you have more than one, you probably only have the common Small Bust.
@@CADRollHunter I have the first one
I have 1985 10cents canadian coin
Nice!!
So you're fifth coin in was a large ??
Edit or is that a 1972 ?😂😂
I've never found a large bust (yet, that is!). What I'm saying is that if you're not sure if you've got a small bust or a large bust, compare your 1973 to a 1972. If it has the same obverse as the 1972, you're in luck!
I wonder if anyone ever spent one.
I'm sure it happens all the time. If I found one today, I'd have to wonder how many hands it slipped through before it got to me. Most people aren't looking that closely!
I counted yours and it is 115 beads . shouldn`t be 120 beads? did i count wrong? Pls check it. maybe it`s a discovery of a new error', maybe wrong planchet... -If yes I want my commission :)))) -
I'm pretty sure I didn't discover anything new - If so, it's long gone and for someone else to discover! Thanks for watching!
That’s why I always saved these horse quarters , bc all I knew was about the number of beads ,
But what do you know about the 1983 quarter?? I only have 2, been collecting since I was about 12 , so I’m thinking they must b very low mintage ?
How much is it worth for a 1968
I 1968 quarter made of nickel is worth just 25 cents (unless it's in a high mint state). If it's silver, it's worth almost 3 dollars.
I have 2 1969 canada dollar coins but one weighs 15.62 grams like normal but the other is 15.39 grams..do you know why?
That's a great question, Ryan. Do they both look the same, and are they both in uncirculated condition? That's a pretty significant difference. Even if just accounting for wear.
Ive been studying them for 4 days and dont see any doubling, neither have any dirt or stuff stuck on them they both look identical... I looked online a bunch and only found 1969 that weigh 15.62 grams and i even looked on the royal canadian mint specifications listing and cant find any abnormality..the only thing i can think of is a different mix of metals in them but they are supposed to be .999 % nickel i believe..and are both magnetic and neither look like a proof coin..sorry for accusing you of being a bot
They are both circulated
They are both circulated
Im at work but soon get home i will take pictures of them both front and back and i will measure their thickness also
