That's character growth from be a rebellious bot to an leader of what soon to be called Autobots.
The story of Transformers have been told and retold so many times that it's not easy to simply say, "Yes this is accurate to the lore," because which lore? But yes, pretty much everything in this was inspired by elements that have appeared in the past. Optimus and Megatron originally being friends is a big one from a lot of continuities; Megatron originally being a member of the worker class named D-16 is from a few, probably most notably being Transformers Prime; I believe the name is a reference to the ID numbers from the Japanese toys (Megatron was the 16th toy in the lineup, with the D standing for Destron/Decepticon).
Scoot all you need to know about this franchise is that there are two main factions: The Autobots (the good guys) and The Decepticons (the bad guys). In most shows/movies/comics/continuity. He's wise, brave, and a great leader who really cares about his fellow bots. He has a lover named Elita-1 (formerly known as Ariel in G1). Interesting to see an outsider's perspective on this. A detailed account of Orion Pax and D-16's backstories was limited to the comics until now, and I'm glad it was executed here so well, lots of X-Men: First Class vibes. In most versions Megatron/D most closely parallels with Stalin- a revolutionary who went leagues too far and became a tyrant out of his own paranoia.

Brian Tyree Henry really out did himself with his incredible performance and his deep understanding of Megatron since always wanted to play the villains. Every villain is a hero of his and her own Story. D-16 is not only a product of Cybertron’s corrupted system and takes on Sentinel Prime’s oppression though violent means all the social injustices he had experiences forged his transcendence into Megatron and building up to a rivalry with Orion turned Optimus Prime (due to wanting the same goal of a unified Cybertron but have different viewpoints). But their friendship is doomed since they discovered that shocking realization their leader Sentinel Prime had sold out Cybertron to the Quintessons after betraying his fellow Prime brothers and sisters, and ruled his planet through oppression. D-16 has put too much faith in the system he has held on to until his worldview was shattered that boils up to anger and a personal vengeance after being suffered of the social injustices while Orion still kept his optimism by exposing the truth of Sentinel's corruption. This what makes D-16 a much more of a compelling hero-turned-villain and tragic character in Transformers history. And the rift between two brothers. Both D-16 and Orion really wanted a unified Cybertron but each have different ways to bringing it into fruition.
This movie is honestly FANTASTIC FOR NEWCOMERS. If you have never seen Transformers media outside the mainstream stuff (Toys and Bayformers) it’s perfect for newcomers explaining the lore and introducing characters.

Bumblebee isn't goofy in most iterations, but because he seems accessible and harmless, he's been paired with humans since G1 which carried over to Bayverse and eventually turned him into the franchise mascot. Transformers Earthspark has the most realistic depiction of him I've ever seen, in this movie he's just comical relief
Except he kinda is, even in Earthspark he is comic relief. He has been since G1 and that is not wrong, the issue is that his role on this movie did not allow for him to flesh out beyond being goofy. Yet, here it makes sense why he is that way and we get glimpses of his more serious side and how much of a *B A D A S S A T R O N* he is when it comes to fighting.
As a Transformers fan since G1 and the 90’s era, this movie makes me really happy to see Elita One get more focused and action. Scarlet Johansson fits perfectly for the character like she did with Black widow. I hope our favorite female Autobot lives longer in surviving the upcoming Autobot-Decepticon Civil War in future sequels. The only animated show where Elita one I know alive with Optimus Prime is in Earthspark. None of us want Orion/Optimus to suffered like he is in Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy Netflix series.
Transformation cogs usually only allow the Transformer in question to turn into either a robot or their second form. Some bots, such as Astrotrain or Blitzwing, are capable of changing into one of two alt-modes. (Astrotrain can become either a steam locomotive or a space-shuttle, and Blitzwing can turn into either a fighter jet or a tank)
Great movie, right? Loved it just as much. You asked how lore accurate this movie was, so here are some main points: In most iterations, D-16 was actually a gladiator named megatronus (*named after* megatronus prime, he is not megatronus prime himself, different character) and Orion Pax was a clerk in the Iacon hall of records. They often talked because even though they had different backgrounds, they both thought Cybertron's hierarchy was corrupt. This is why almost all media refers to them as brothers, even if they aren't referring to this version of the origin story. They are brothers in the sense that they both wanted to stand up to the corruption in Cybertron and often interacted, exchanging ideologies and political tatics. Megatronus shortened his name to Megatron and resorted to making change through war. Orion becomes Optimus when he tries to help the heart of Cybertron, Primus (a lot like this movie but instead of primus fixing him, he went to fix primus and primus rewarded his selflessness). Orion Pax being a clerk is generally the norm, up until this movie. Thats why it seems strange that every miner is just a number/letter designation except Orion Pax. However, Megatron's origin often bounces between gladiator, miner, or some other lower-class citizen who is more at the butt-end of a corrupt system. This is the first origin where they do not have transformation cogs from the start. Some series have stories related to t-cogs being destroyed/taken, but the t-cogs being taken from them before activation is an entirely new idea. I like it because having Megatron end up with Megatronus's t-cog is a great way to explain why he is able to fight a Prime, given he is not an experienced Gladiator like in other stories. The most common origin that I outlined above was supposed to be Hasbro's "main storyline" up until this movie. But this movie already had a whole trilogy's worth of story planned out, so I imagine if it does get another two movies, it will be its own enclosed story. Just gotta hope they'll continue the movies, but the box office was not inspiring. Not a failure, but not a guaranteed sequel, sadly. Marketing team really shot this movie in the leg.

When fans saw Sentinel they knew immediately that he must be the villain.
I was just watching my fav tubers react to this movie HAHA, glad you decided to- I really liked it, and I don’t even know much about transformers either
14:02 Given what we know, is that irony or darkly poetic?
welcome to the fandom, next up transformers: prime 👍
It's a different version of the origin, but it's my favorite.
Bee is a fun, goofy guy. He's just overboard now because he's been alone for so long.
23:30
The power isn't going to his head, He's just done taking orders from anybody.
Loosing a leg or anything that could hurt us can hurt them, but they can be fixed more efficiently than us.
10:53 I love the joke here, A-A TRON, being a reference to the teacher in key and peele who gets the names wrong
First MLP, Now Transformers. Im proud of you Scoot.
He's one of the producers. Michael Bay is the producer
Yes you did infact see micheal bay
He was in the realease in theaters and the producer of the film
This movie was dope asl!!!
"Blank flank" hahahaha!😂
It sound wrong but it not that off... all Transformers in the movie that didnt have T-cog have an open chest to show that their T-cog is missing and all have dull color compare with the one that can transform... it like Statlight Villaige all over again minus the creppy smile...
I really hope you watch the 1986 movie next cause it's just as awesome as this one with a sick soundtrack and some of the most iconic moments from the franchise
For comparison sake please watch 1986 original movie you won't get everything but still with it asit is great
Your video is the perfect showcase of how both how great this movie is as an entry point to the franchise AND of how shit the marketing was
"I didn't know Megatron was the bad guy"
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
HA ha haaa... oh my god
glad to see scoot watched peak
You know scoot you should watch transformers prime
Decepticons, RISE UP!

You need to watch transformers prime!!
well, there *is* a transformers racing game, but I doesn't... well... look nice
Hey
My Little Pony and transform
Are from the same company
Hasbro 😂
Come on I mean, you have similar stuff
The boys, Transformers
The girls mlp
Only the ironic part is that there a lot of boys watch My Little Pony and a qoute that say "Chick dig Giant Robot"...
I'm guessing he doesn't grow up watching Transformers. I'm pretty sure he hasn't watched any of the Bayverse films. If that's the case then i can see why he's not very familiar with Transformers. The fact he doesn't know Megatron is evil/the bad guy is crazy
Megatron be like: 17:47
Oh, please watch Transformers Prime series, then it's so good
LETS GOOOO
Woohoo 🔥🔥🔥💯
Where can you watch it

is new transformers origin.. give a idea how the golden day of cybertron.
best movie hope they can made transformers two for civil war of cybertron befor they going to earth.
YOOOOOOOOOO
