  • Canadians like their donuts and we showed up big-time for the first Krispy Kreme to open in Manitoba! Come see what is probably the most insane grand opening I've ever witnessed.

    Hello fellow winnipeger. We tried to go to krispy kreme on Sunday and the lines were still crazy.

      😄Let me defend myself a little! I have people at home to help me eat them. Even still, we ended up freezing a bunch for lunches and snacks, etc.

    Yeah that looks just like the fir st Krispy Kreme in Calgary, hyped to the moon for like a month or two. Now it's closed down.

      Interesting...just looked it up. So Calgary had one in 2008 (which closed), but now they're announcing a new Krispy Kreme opening in 2025.

      Same in Ontario huge lines at launch then they end up selling at local stores and Walmarts and nobody wants them by then so they close down and people go back to TIm Hortons since they get their coffee there anyways.

    A hot glazed donut from Krispy is to die for.
    Not sure if they still do this. They would walk the line and give out samples.

      I remember taking my nephews (both under the age of 10) and took them to Krispy Kreme and my nephews wanted their signature glazed donut as they saw them being made when we were there. The nice cashier took a couple of them off the conveyer belt and gave it to them. He didn't give them out for free of course. I had to pay for them.

    There was a Crispy Kreme in Calgary NE. It is now a Tim Hortons.

      The canadian franchisee in the early 00's went broke and shut most of them down in the country. New franchisee has been steadily opening up new locations for the past 5-10 years now, mostly in toronto and southern BC

      Interesting thought...I'd have to upgrade my tech a bit. I'm also unsure how I would do it tactfully in a line-up. Its one thing walking around somewhere randomly, and another standing beside the same people for 2 hours (who might not want to be involved). But yes, it was an experience, and I was glad to capture at least what I did. We had fun.

    I live in Surrey and for a time, the only Krispy Kreme in Canada was in Delta. I'm glad there's more of them opening. Their doughnuts are awesome. They are now what Tim Horton's used to be.

      How long was that you lived there? In the mid-2000s, Calgary had a Krispy Kreme. That location closed down. I don't know when though.

    If it's anything like in Ontario it will most likely close as soon as they put them for sale at Walmarts and local stores. Lines won't last after everyone in town goes once, it's a product you'll only want to get twice a year.

    The original glazed is good. The other donuts are quality, but too sweet. Plus our local shops make better donuts overall.
    KK is a bit overhyped.

    • @jeffreyverse
      @jeffreyverse  22 дні тому +1

      You are absolutely correct. My bad. So a dozen (variety) was $16, but $14 for the second dozen. So on average, $15 if you buy in bulk. I think that if you get a dozen of only the regular "plain" glazed classic donuts, it might be a bit cheaper.

    • @jeffreyverse
      @jeffreyverse  22 дні тому +1

      The coffee was $2.50 plus tax. The donuts were tax free, because when you buy that much they classify as "groceries". :) The bag cost me $0.76.

    I thought the krispy kreme donut was a part of Dunkin Donuts, not its own chain? Im confused.... heard the hype over it... doesnt really interest me much.

    • @jeffreyverse

      Apparently the company that owns Krispy Kreme also owns Caribou Coffee, Keurig, Panera Bread, Dr.Pepper and a bunch of other stuff. I didn't know. I don't see Dunkins, so I'm guessing they're another outfit.
