Lets see you purposefully leave behind everyone you ever knew; your parents, your siblings, your friends, EVERYONE. Know that they will hate and shun you for disagreeing with them. Try starting your life over, with no friends, no acquaintances, no support, and no idea how to interact socially with others because you were brainwashed since birth. Try being utterly alone. Then you can talk about what requires courage.
Why must everything be a secret in most organizations? A friend of mind believed in Scientology so I started asking questions about what it is, and what do they do. He didn't say much, and I told him... "You want me to get know Scientology a little better, so why do you shy back when I ask questions about this religion you feel so strongly about?" My friend looked a bit confused, and scared to tell me everything. I didn't understand why. Thank goodness this woman left Scientology,
It is child labor when it forced. I doubted your parents were going to audit you and emotionally torment you if you didn't do any ranch work. I don't know your family but I can only assume they wanted you to know about hard work paying off but this is criminal. Scientology is shrouded in secrecy and these secret compounds for a reason you see the pretty outside of their buildings but what goes on inside is a completely different story.
Yes, I do. The value of hard work and manual labor was very benefiting to my success in my education and work. So, I didn't get there by taking ballet classes or painting. For me, I believe in hard work whether it is intellectual or physical labor. We need to stop being so liberal when it comes to making children do work. Also, fun activities come after work and chores are done. So, it's not like I was working day to night. Geez
seriously? Manners, determination, Constance these are things to be disregarded with the passing of time. Why? Do you realize that 90 % of the population born between 80 - 06 suffer from the highest levels of narcissism this planet has ever seen? A strong work ethic should never become timeless no matter what generation it is. A strong sense of self, dignity an shame, control and stoicism should not become things of the past simply because your emotional cripple generation are incapable of such
I do not condone Scientology but she is taking about doing manual labor and how they had to haul rail road ties, lay gravel, and plant cactus as a kid. Well, I grew up on a ranch and we had to do all of that stuff plus much more during my childhood. It is NOT child labor! People have just become too easy on children nowadays which is why we are currently raising dramatic, want-to-be, reality tv stars.
what makes agreeing with children doing chores a silly comment? For an organization scrutinized by the public and the media I would think that if there were forced child labor going on Scientology as we know it would cease to exist. Having a child stack rocks is no different than having a child make a bed, wash dishes, cook dinner, wax cars, paint fences. Wax on wax off Daniel son. too bad they didn't take a belt to her maybe she could speak better.
I don't think she is saying that. I believe she means her struggles within and out that church. Many things in life shape us into who we are and I am guessing Scientology isn't any different for her. She isn't saying she is happy now for Scientology. She is saying the experiences and lessons in life have brought her to where she is now.
I'm from Bonaire and the cruise ship Freewinds comes here all the time. The crew of the ship don't talk to us(people of the island and not scientologists) they don't say hi or look at you, only the captain of the ship talks with us! They are people that think that they are right and very body else is wrong, doomed for life because they are not scientologists.
OMG say it ant so, say they really didn't make you do chores. How dare they make you get off your butt and learn to do things for yourself. Those monsters. Surely they will burn n hell for making you rake leaves. I think they are quacks but if you are going to speak out against them please have something more to say than we had to do chores. child labor how awful.
These short videos are interesting and all, but anyone truly interested in going down the rabbit hole that is the Church of Scientology should check out the Steven Fishman Deposition - you can find the videos right here on youtube. Also research Operation Freakout and Operation Snow White.
Funny, I almost put the same quote up but I didn't because the discussion is based on work not character. There are precedents that show what happens to countries that manufacture and countries that serve. If you want your children to be servers that is fantastic. You are in the right place.
I see. Well you definitely would know better than I because I've never lived in a mormon community, it's just the ones I've come across are a lot more proactive and nicer and less hypocritical than others who follow abrahamic religions (like baptists, methodists, catholics, etc.).
1)She means through adversity, she found strength. She said it almost ruined her life because it used child labor (among other things), which may have broken other people. Just because she found goodness in her experience, doesn't mean she things the experience wasn't harmful. 2)"If I hadn't been kidnapped and enslaved for 10 years and escaped on my own, I wouldn't be what I am now." Basically, you're missing her context.
Just curious, what is so courageous about changing churches? If you do not agree with those around you, if you have nothing in common, is it so hard to say goodbye? Makes me wonder how sedate your world must be.
Nothing wrong with getting kids to build roads, walls, and things(kids I see at school, and around the nieghborhood are pretty lazy, and things are handed to them), Not contravercial...just the faith itself is.
Putting them to work to help out in minor construction/landscaping is totally fine. Making them your *workers* is not. There's a difference between "Help me out with this! :)" and "You're doing this, and if you talk back, you're going in isolation."
Really, you think that using kids to build, instead of them going to school to paint or learn ballet is not child labor? Just because you did that at "home"? Situations are different.
Interesting, I tried to talk to them in LA, they had me do a test after about an hour, I was like, ok, I'm done! Than I went and hung out with the Krishnas's for a whiile.
There's a contradiction here. --The niece of the Church of Scientology's leader talks about how the organization almost ruined her life.-- But at the end of the interview she said: -- But also, you know. If I hadn't gone through it, I WOULDN'T BE WHAT I'M NOW.--- In others words: Thanks to scientology she is happy now.
Just 4 Fun no, that's not a contradiction... that's just a phrase... and one that's predicated on the linear interpretation of time, like 'if I hadn't have gone through all of those horrible things, I wouldn't be the strong person I am today'. She's not Grateful to them in any way.. and nor should she be.
jqtxc They obv can't control her, but they can control the people still In the church contacting her.... they will face the ramifications for, essentially, 'fraternising' with her, So they control them via the fear and intimidation of being cut off/expelled, losing their entire life: friends, family, jobs... so the church members make the easier decision, to cut the person off rather than have their own lives impacted,
There's nothing wrong with child labor. Humans are designed for working. There is something wrong with children playing xbox & playstation & wii rather than being outside and using their bodies for useful tasks.
Did you see how many fucking rocks there were! A whole god damn lot! Especially for a child! Like she said, the place didn't look like the pictures when she got there. So I'm pretty damn sure that using children for labor to that context is highly considered child abuse.
Can we just pack up and move to the alternate universe where religion never existed?
I'm reading her book right now. It's fascinatingly terrifying.
How about one about "Leaving Feminism" or "Leaving the LGBT".
I can highly recommend her book "Beyond Belief".
how is scientology a religion?
and what do they do?
+grant croll Scientology is a type of false mysticism.
any evidence to support that claim?
look up hermetic cross and then look up the scientology cross.
it isn't it's just something someone made up who had a messed up childish imagination

Amen! At least Mormons don't (generally) bully people who leave and they (generally) live by their teachings. That's why they're so damn nice.
It's funny how people make a way to separate each other like little children
Wow, props to her. Keep strong, more will follow.

Its just the difference between generations. The youth are destroying themselves and their offspring.
They sure picked a good picture for Travolta. He looks like he could play a Vulcan in Star Trek.
They should have accept JESUS in their heart.
Child labor? what the hell is that?
I'd imagine that's what Pikachu would look like if made in America.

Anderson should air on his show the video the church made ridiculing him, it is really vicious and would show them in their real light.
79274333 What video??...
This makes the spaghetti monster god look real.
you obviously haven't met a christian
RESPECT ALL RELIGIONS
I try to expect the best of people.
pshh religion...no...
kidnapping?
Good for her.
very nice
sounds like the west boro baptist church should be best buds with scientologists
thats who i thought it was before I clicked on it
They make the Westboro Baptist Church look sane...
She Has A lot of courage. good for her.
I laughed X D
What the fuck would they do if she got in contact with her friends in the church? How would they control that?

You moved a cpl rocks and that's suppose to be abuse? FOH I need more information than that to feel sorry for you lol.
