What rear ends do they have? I know yours has the IRS which is supposed to weigh a little more than the solid axel setups. I wonder how much more a gen 3 chassis weighs over a gen 1 or 2? Over 400hp in a sub 3,000lb car is still a rocket.
All three have IRS. Not sure about chassis weight but the gen3 chassis is a solid heavy chunk. I am sure it weighs more than the early ones. Thanks for the great comment.
@@cobradaytonabuild1671 Does Ford or GM or (FFR) make and sell Aluminum engines.. Alu is 1/3 the mass of steel.. So a Ford Coyote +/- 450 pounds might come in at 220 pounds with alu body parts??
Would it weigh 2,200 pounds with no sound or heat insulation, no carpet, a lexan rear hatch, no windows, Kirkey seats, no fluids, and a carbureted 289?
Holy cow! I could maybe get my 1985 Corvette close to that weight with an LS swap, carbon fiber hood, racing seats, and a few other things. It is at 3180 now with just aluminum heads and no spare. I have full interior, heat, AC and bose stereo system (4 amps etc).
@@cobradaytonabuild1671to be frank, these cars have a longer wheelbase and more rollbar materials and more fiberglass. Yea it weighs more than the standard cobra but the trade off is this car is gonna be faster top speed wise, better mpg and less twitchy when it comes to the handling. In this day and age anything under 3000 lbs is an accomplishment.

Interesting. About what I expected. I get asked all the time how much mine weighs. I've never weighed it, but always say probably 2,700 - 2,800. I'm not aware Factory Five has ever claimed a weight for these, let alone 2,200. Maybe a stripped down Roadster would weigh that much. But they're easy to get into the 2,300 - 2,400 range.
I would like mine to be as light as possible. You said that they are easy to get into the 2,300 - 2,400 range, what have you two added that increases the weight 400lbs? also FFR has claimed 2,400Lbs for their daytona. The cobra is claimed 2,200.
The roadster can get down to 2200 but 2400 is more realistic. The dark blue coupe is 2700 and it has nothing added. Not sure how you could get much lighter. I think the gen 1 and 2 are lighter as they use the lighter roadster chassis.
Getting light is difficult. My SCCA STL prepped Miata with 6 point cage , low fuel but otherwise wet, and no driver is 1955 lbs. At end of race, I need to roll over the scales with 2 gallons of fuel to make weight. But your Daytonas are so my prettier.

I don’t think it’s possible. The dark blue one has nothing and it’s 2700. If he went smaller brakes, trans, Lexan etc he might get it it 2500.

The type 65’s are light but my cobra was only 2340 lbs and scary. No stereo as you wouldn’t be able to hear it anyway.

Geeze, I guess I did good. R model with a Dart block 427, full aero package, and fire suppression comes in at 2720 with a half tank.
