• NORC Nevada Open Road ...
This is a compilation of all of the events that took place over a 4-day weekend - it's not just a rally!
The rally was the 90-mile, north-to-south course, 120 mph group with a 140 mph top speed limit.
Car is a 2018 Factory Five Type 65 Coupe (Daytona) Gen III #16
Ford 302 (carbureted), TKO600, IRS 3.55 - Комедії
Nicely done Dave! You ran a clean run. Now time for more power!
Well done video! My daughter and I did 110, 120, and 125 in my 2015 Challenger SRT in 2021 and 2022. Great memories!
Thank you! I started in May 2022 and have done 100, 110, 120 and I just registered for May in the 130 class.
Every state should have this for people who want to legally take their cars out and do dangerous stuff with them in a controlled situation.
They do it’s called walmart parking lot👍😂
@@G.S.W.SewmesomeMusicid love to see someone doing 140 mph in a Walmart parking 🤔
Track days. They're available at many race tracks all over the country.
@@stevem6853furst off this event is nowhere NEAR the same thing as a track day, and the entire deal of getting a car ready and going to a track day anyway is a surprisingly hard, annoying and expensive process in america, which makes no sense, but nothing here does.
Thanks for the video...brings back memories of my buddy Don and I passing the General Lee with John Schneider driving just b4 the Narrows. Best part, we were driving a CHP replica Z28 and I hit the lights which instinctively made John lift. He smiled and flipped us off on the pass, of course we DQ'd but it was worth it 😜👍
Love the Type 65, I live right down the shoreline from the FF shop in Mass. Also, great spotting of the Bradley GT, my Dad built one in 1975.
Great video. My brother is owner/driver if #89 Factory 5. Fun to see him and his car as part of your footage.
Greg (the light blue Coupe), Patrick and I hung out a lot that weekend!
Great job on the video D
Great event!!
I'm surprised more people don't do this.
I think most people either have no clue it existed, or just cant get time off work to go, personally, i didnt know this was a realistic goal of a event to go to until like this week imao
I am a car guy but I think its cool that a little Girl named Greta got to old men so much that they have to put stickers on their cars to mock her. Go Greta!...BTW, I have some gas guzzling high horse power cars.
Actually the SSCC/NORC decal should be in a north/south configuration with NORC at the star and SSCC at the bottom.
I see that sticker, Go Ducks!
I’m up in Sweet Home, East of Albany building a Gen3.
Cool- my daughter goes to UofO. I'm in CA and I trailered my Coupe up there ~2 years ago and did a track day at PIR.
How did you get the camera to turn when you passed that Corvair? That was so cool!
The camera is an Insta360 - it has two 180-degree lenses and captures a 360-degree sphere of data. By editing the video in software, you can choose which viewpoint to playback/render to the output video. The camera does not physically move. Glad you like it!
I’ve been contemplating on building a type 65. Would you recommend the type r or the coupe?
If I were to do this again, I'd get the R and cut out the front bars in the front windshield area - or cut them out and make them quick-release/removable for non track events.
Are there other rally's on this road? How much is it to participate? That looks insanely fun
Have a look at www.sscc.com. About a grand to enter but it's more that just the rally- parade of cars, car show on the lawn, 1/2 and 1 mile speed runs, banquet dinner, award ceremony, etc. In May is the NORC (60 miles, two ways - 120 miles total) and in September is the SSCC - 90 miles one-way
In Texas we have the Big Bend Open Road Race, 57 miles from Ft. Stockton to Sanderson with a return after lunch. Nevada is just too far away for me, I have to cross 800 miles of Texas.
Would love to know more about your rear camera mount system. I have a 66' Barracuda that I'm wrapping up with a NASCAR v8 AWD for standing .5mi 1 mi along with road events such as this and dreaming pikes peak, along with Redwood Autocross events.
The camera is an Insta360 X2. The mount is made up of:
Delkin Devices Fat Gecko Triple Suction Camera Mount
IMT 3" Vacuum Suction Cup Mounting Base with 1/4"-20 Female Thread
SmallRig Clamp w/ 1/4" and 3/8" Thread and 9.8 Inches Adjustable Friction Power Articulating Magic Arm
ALZO Extension Rod 16 Inch Long with 1/4 x 20 Thread Hole and 1/4 x 20 Screw End, two of these.
The 4th suction cup and articulating arm provide front-to-rear triangulation support of the camera/rod.
@@davesdaytona I knew that mount had to be custom and thanks for sharing as my Barracuda has an even bigger back window to mount on. Love that factory five Daytona and miss ffr cobra something fierce yet once dad let go of grandpa's car from the back of the barn I knew all the toys had to go and let grandpa's dream of viper Barracuda amalgamation evolve into what I affectionately call the devil fish.
Sorry I slowed you down. Gold job making up the time and nice car.
You were driving the Corvair? I'm sorry for the pass - at the time I thought you saw me but watching the video I'm not so sure.
Cool job bringing a V8 Corvair to that event, in a way i was sort of hoping it was a corsa running the stock 4 carb engine, but that wouldn't be holding a good 115 mph out there long!
So how did you fair? Run looks like a blast for sure. Nice to be able to make up the time.
just under 1 second off of a perfect 120 mph average after 90 miles
@davesdaytona What I meant was placement after the run, ie: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc. in your class. Either way, impressive!
@@glenndiorio8967 5th out of 8 finishers - 10 were entered.
@@davesdaytona Wow! That is a tight timeline! 👍
@@glenndiorio8967 0.1757 time deviance won the 120 mph group - this was hand-timed with a stopwatch and waypoint tables
Which one of the 3 coupes are more stable at speeds 100+. Your Hugh wing , or the Duck tail, or the slick back??? Plusooksike you have front aero / ground effects....
Just curious. It'd be cool to ride along in all 3 to get an idea. Plus how do they effect speed.
OK just getting geeky with it!!!
It's hard to say as we've not driven each other's cars at speed. My wing should be putting down ~350 lbs at 130 mph according to the spec sheet that came with the wing. I also have a front nose that minimizes the airflow under the nose. On two road course tracks (Sonoma and Thunderhill East), my aero package cuts ~4 seconds per lap - this was done via same-day, back-to-back testing. But for the rally run which is mostly straight it's just a a feel/stability thing. We had all 3 coupes up over 150 mph this past May - no issues.
@davesdaytona well I have to say it's a beautiful car!! Your a Blessed man!!! Stay safe!
@@beanapalooza6614 look for my most recent video of the May 2024 event!
Lucky dogs
Coolest car was the Studebaker we didn't get to see at 22:08.
Wind noise 😐
That looked sketchy as hell at speed.
Great video …..and yes we enjoyed burning all that fossil fuel too at 150!
Awkward edit at the end. Was that a Hawk?
I believe it is a Studebaker of some sort.
@@davesdaytona
Absolutely gorgeous Daytona! BTW
Dear god ditch the wing. What is that the chivato car from the cars movie. It can’t possibly help but only hurt and looks hideous.
135 mph? My 240Z will pass you. I have no respect for a parade lap
this run group speed limit was 136 mph. see my latest video from this past May
not sure why youtube suggested this to me. I like fast cars not cars that look fast . these are highway speeds.
The Greta sticker is pretty childish..
It’s awesome 😂 don’t be such a downer
The Greta ticker is great.
HOW DARE YOU!!
