I wouldn't tune for Autocross if you're not planning to Autocross much. I've driven many Fwd, Rwd, and AWD cars on autocross. Based on what I saw in the short vid, I think it's just a matter of a little earlier brake application, possibly some trail braking, and more aggressive throttle on exit to rotate. Don't change a thing. Love it. I hope to start a coupe project in the next few yrs once my Wagoneer project is done.
@@comfort_in_discomfort Thank You! Car is a compromise but the Silver State high speed runs is my priority. Sounds like you have some good projects.
I always wondered if the difference between front and rear tires ie (245 & 295) will produce under or oversteer. ... BTW did you repaint the car. It looks super sharp.
@@FooFahFoeFum The car has always had oversteer but changes made for the high speed runs has induced understeer. The car is a compromise as it’s not for any specific type of motorsports. I did wrap the orange stripes and intend to paint them soon. Great comment. Thank you
Some of understeer in that run could be overcome with more deliberate trailbraking. That last turn you could have gone into it a little faster and then trail brake little later. For suspension set up try little more toe out up front, maybe softer setting on front shock if adjustable to allow better weight transfer.
@@GMK189-f2k Thank you for the tips. I might give it a try at the next one. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Good advice. An alternative approach is to brake earlier, get on the gas earlier and power oversteer through turns. Try both approaches and see which feels best to you and the car.
@@michaelclements4664 Will give it a try next time. 👍
Can I build one of this for less than 50k thank you 🙏
@@Ghostrider-zr5xp It’s possible if you do everything yourself including paint. I could have used a take out engine and trans and saved a lot of money. It could be done.
This car is beautiful, but it looks like it is not for a tall driver 6'-2" plus. Can you tell me what the dimension is from floor panel (base of seat) (seat belt hole) to roof? ............... I expect 38 - 41 inches???
@@FooFahFoeFum if you mount seat on floor a tall driver will have no issues. My son is 6’1” and drives it and I have the drivers seat on a slider which adds appx 2” of height to the seat. Getting in and out is the bigger challenge
Remember this comment. I heard a challenge starting out. I’m in a perfect position to build a type 65 just to see if I can build one that takes more abuse. No joke 1-Fully built 5.4dohc Shelby engine with a liberty prepped tr6060 in my 09 gt500 2-got the news yesterday that USAA changed their minds and will be totaling my Shelby of 11 years (rear tire dry rot blew under braking) 3- My wife (of 20 years) is divorcing me b/c I’m taking the buyback of $33k and my 23000 mile never rained on fully built 2009 gt500 Maybe she’d not hate the drivetrain if it kept it in another car (Factory Five Type 65?) Or maybe I just tell her I’m not fixing it but I will be “parting it out” :) I’d be amazed if someone caught this. My car is all I’ve got that I trust… it’s the only consistent thing in my life (consistently breaks my heart) 0:33

Lets talk resale value? cobbled together by some inexperienced kit car builder...............The Factory Five does not look like the original Daytona coupe. I'll go with the second version of a Daytona Coupe as DESIGNED by Peter Brock!
@@raydona7343 Cobbled together! Plenty of guys can build a better car than superformance. Plus you get to build your own instead of buying. And the factory fives get used at track events and I have never seen a superformance on the track.
I guess its waterproof carcover and wait it out for this car
I want to order one of these kits. do they actually drive and function like a normal car?
@@lillotionofficial That really depends on what you consider a normal car. These things are loud but it’s like driving a big go kart. The steering response is amazing the power to weight ratio is amazing but you don’t have all the creature comforts. They’re loud they’re low. It’s a great car I’ll never get rid of mine. And they’re also a little hard to get in and out of, which can be a little tricky.
@@cobradaytonabuild1671 by normal car, i meant like, can it drive and get me from point a to b like a regular gas powered car?
@@lillotionofficial Easy. I have 13k miles on mine and have driven it for 10.5 hours in one shot. Dave’s has 23k miles on it.

@@sandersstreetrods I will. Thank you!
I love your videos ...... A smaller engine will result in lower sounds. Maybe 325 HP is enough??? .. hearing priority over deafness. . In an other of your videos, you mentioned that your car was unstable at 160 MPH. You've got big ones to attempt that speed..... Look into undertrays ,,, The bottom of your car is open and exposed to dirt, water and wind/aerodynamic turbulence. You Tube has about 6 videos on how to build these suckers. Peter Brock calls "undertrays" as ....."belly pans" ... He says that they keep your car sucked better to the road, more predictable at high speeds and increase overall stiffness. [ aluminum, fibreglass. marine woods can be used ] ..... Maybe you and your Daytona buddies can design, create one and then sell the pattern to Factory five.
@@FooFahFoeFum Hearing protection needed regardless of engine. These things are loud. It’s darty at 160 and I think it’s because I have zero toe in and will adjust that at the next event. I have already installed belly pans. Great comment!! Thank you.

On the Factory Five, If you use taller tires in the rear ie 295/45/18 [28.45 inches] and 245/40/18 [ 25.72 rear]: - (28.45 - 25.72 =2.73) ...... your car is now 2.73/2 =1.365 inches taller in the rear which will create that rake Peter Brock aimed for being taller in the the rear ...
@@FooFahFoeFum I agree just not ideal for handling as in autocross events.
Great tips! I put the very first 10 miles on my car, and when I got back home I ordered some extra ear protection to leave in the car! Will also have extra ear plugs in the car also. Lumbar support next. Thanks for the great videos.
@@craiglarson6277 Thank you for the great comment.
Thanks for continuing your videos though you have completed the build. I like the front tow hook.
@@jeffsweet27 Thank you for watching and commenting. I really appreciate it.
I have a 1960 Austin Healey Sprite with a big and powerful 948 A Series engine and straight pipes muffled only by a cherry bomb resonance chamber. It's not race car loud? Not 100 dB surely. But it's loud. I use a similar setup, noise cancelling ear plugs or regular ear plugs, but no over cover. It's almost impossible to see the ear pieces in my head, and I can understand my wife shouting from the seat next to me, after I ask her to repeat herself, so it must be fine. The seat cushion is a great idea, the seats on this Sprite are quite thin and I can get about an hour out of my ass before I have to stop. Thankfully the gas tank on the Sprite is 7 gallons and I can only do about 250 miles before I fill up.
@@mundanestuff Damn!! That’s some serious fuel economy! Thanks for the great comment.
I do much the same in mine. I have the Kirkey high backs in mine, and with a cheap gel pad in the bottom and a bit of sponge for lumbar support it’s downright comfy. I add a rolled up towel behind my neck to for a little more support. For hearing protection I use aviation grade headsets with an intercom box. Pricey, but worth every penny!!
@@glennbeck5138 Not as easy as driving a modern car but way more fun! Thanks for the great comment.
Good advice especially on the hearing protection. Tip: check out the NIOSH hearing limits, they are lower and safer than OSHA.
Do you still get cars together up at Alice's? I am interested in starting a build and would love to check your car out and ask some questions.
@@johnc5188 We just had one last weekend and I uploaded a video. Anytime you want to see mine just let me know
Hey, been subscribed for a while. Just wondering how much noise you get due to the windows.
@@etherboy3540 Hearing protection still required. At 80 mph it’s over 95db inside. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I ended up going with the same seats as you, in part due to your videos. Out of curiosity, do you have your seats reclined at all? I have the rear bolts one notch lower than the fronts. That made the seat much more suitable for me, albeit I haven't had a long road trip with the car yet. May end up going the cushion route. As for the earbuds, the airpods pro tested around -22db with anc for street noise. RTings has a bunch of metrics on them (and others). NRR is really about a total sound reduction which would include instantaneous sounds (e.g. hammer strike), which you're not really trying to mute.
@@charlessmith208 They are reclined as well. Comfortable for two to three hours but need extra padding for anything longer. I have tried just the AirPods without muffs and the noise cancelling struggles
@@cobradaytonabuild1671 Gotcha, I'll probably end up getting the extra padding too then. Thanks for the video! Car is off at the body shop, hoping to get it back around the new year.
@ Who’s doing the body and paint? You must be excited!!
@@cobradaytonabuild1671 Yeah, I'm pretty excited. I gave the work to a local body shop. Owner has done a cobra before, and a bunch of vettes, but this is the first coupe I'm pretty sure.
@@charlessmith208 Hope to see some photos. What color?
How would it be illegal to wear ear muffs when driving since a deaf person can drive. That would be the argument I’d make
@@marcppparis I like the argument but in California it’s illegal to have both ears covered or ear buds in both. But lots of people do it.
You & your channel ROCK.
@@johnd.williams3477 thank you. Your experience with driving cross country would have been a good addition.
@@cobradaytonabuild1671 Soft foam ear plugs with 35 dB reduction shooting ear muffs are necessary. A comfortable seat with lumbar support greatly helps. Taking a break when fueling up is required. 600+ mile days are not all that bad when keeping up with Interstate traffic that is going 82 mph.

@@racingandfishing6912 Glad I could help. I have some nascar type coming in a few weeks and will report out.
I enjoy all your videos . My kit arrives in 2 weeks. What diff are you running? Torsen or Trac-Loc ?
@@ronlisto4790 I am running the Torsen and 3.73 gears. You are in for a great time when your kit arrives. It’s a really fun project.
@@cobradaytonabuild1671 At least for the 2015+ Mustangs (like I had) with the Torsen this is a widely discussed topic. While many have tried various methods, the only tried and true method is using a diff cooler. The 2015 GT350 non Track Pack did not have one and cars kept going into limp mode even in spirited street driving and folks were outraged. So starting in 2016, all GT350's had one. From there, all Torsen equipped cars (Shelbys and GT Performance Packs) had a temp sensor added to put cars in limp mode when it was too high. Based on that, before installing my 2016+ diff with the temp sensor , I tapped the diff cover for a cooler in the same place that Ford does. You can also buy the cooling kit from places like Full Tilt Boogie with a pre-tapped diff cover. Though you can put together your own kit at a pretty good savings. For now though, I just have an OEM plug installed. I was hopeful that without some of the Mustang's inherit issues - exhaust very close, limited airflow and what airflow there is, it is coming off the engine and trans - that it wouldn't be an issue. So very interested to hear how your results come out as it sounds like a more economical non mechanical solution and would be one less possible failure point! Great videos and super helpful. Thank you.
