I’ve scoured YT on tutorials to make foam prop guns and this one is the best! I’m using this video for a guide to build my own LadyFist pistol from Borderlands 2! Thanks so much
Looks good bro. Myself I am a Chaos Space marines fan every time some on do a 40K bolter they always do the space marines of the false Emperor. Show some chaos love bro
If you plan on making any other Warhammer 40k themed props in the future, might I suggest the Lucius Pattern Lasgun from the Death Korp of Kreig? Or maybe a Power Sword?
Another awesome build Steve. And the paint technique just demonstrated that I've done my ongoing Saint Seiya Pegasus helmet all wrong by not using a rattle can on the silver and instead painting it all with liquitex heavy body rich silver, which has been an ordeal, on top of several layers of flexbond. Also, seemed as if you had a blocked nose from a cold when you did the audio recording. If so, get well soon.
Thanks! Putting down a base color with rattle can really helps with coverage and time, and yeah I have chronic sinus issues so being in the shop is sometimes really hard with all of the dust and sprays regardless of wearing a mask the whole time
This is absolutely brilliant and has inspired me to give it a go myself thank you! I've never done anything like this before and I don't have any of the materials yet, would there be any chance of a rough cutting list so I can order what I need?
Plan on making this and the Chainsword!!!! Is there a way you could make a list of the foam i would need to purchase to make them both along with the paints
Hey amazing video my friend. Now Space Marine 2 has been released. Is there a way u can build a full Primaris Marine armour plus a bolt rifle from the game?
INCREDIBLE work! One question though! When it comes to handling, do you put any sort of clear/protective coating to prevent excessive wear on the paint?
Thanks, and no I almost never clear coat my props. Heavy body acrylics won’t chip or crack like cheaper paints. Adding a clear coat kills the sheens the paint has matte vs satin vs metallics
You don't want to add water to metallics they tend to displace the pigment to much. Rich silver covers pretty well if you wanted something that was a bit more translucent you can use Liquitex Bright Silver
Increíble, aunque no sepas inglés es sencillo seguir las instrucciones siguiendo el vídeo, seguro que se pierde ciertos consejos precisos para ciertas partes, pero al final se construye "casi" sin problemas, con mi mal inglés: "Thank you very much"
This is phenomenally done, wow! I'm planning on building something from 40k for a buddy, and you gist gave me the perfect plan! If I may ask, did you use any clear coat after you finished the paint job? I really want to put some sort of protective coating on it, but I don't want to cause a chemical reaction. What do you recommend?
Thanks! I don't ever clear coat my props or costumes because that kills the sheen. Then you don't have that distinction between matte and the metallics
Hey Steven, I’m messaging here instead of on Facebook so I don’t clog your messages. What model of bandsaw do you use for your builds? And what blade would you recommend getting? I am working on a full size space marine cosplay and my little bandsaw just doesn’t have to clearance to cut out the large pieces I need.
I used a 30+ year old craftsman and a blade that is really only good for cutting foam. you can always find old tools online or at swaps but you need to have a blade that is straight no offset teeth and as high a tpi as possible. companies like mc master carr also sell blades designed to cut foam
So Crazy :O I love it, such a clean work :O if i had seen this before i made mine. i would had use definitelly your Patterns :O How are the sizes if i want to print the pattern on one paper if i may ask? :) Thank you in advance
To print it follow the directions on my site and open the PDF templates in adobe acrobat or adobe reader and click poster in the printer settings that scales it properly regardless of your paper size
Does anyone have a rough purchase list for how much of the HD foam roles by size to buy to complete one bolter (i.e. will one of each size do it)? Thanks.
Whats up, Brother! it really is amazing watching you slowly build up the gun and see it gain its shape, great work. BUT 2 things though, i really dont understand how you use that much superglue in one go and not have it dry out before you try to put it in place. and 2, i dont know how you use that superglue barehanded, because i used the same superglue (based on your recommendation, its great) but if i get more than a tiny bit on my skin or get to close and have the fumes get near my eyes that thing starts to burn like a MFer
First of Thanks! I work pretty fast but having the super glue on top of the contact cement for my double adhesive method makes sure it doesn't soak in to the foam to fast. Just a heads up superglue will react to most gloves and burn so that is why I only work barehanded and I don't get my eyes close enough to most of my builds. The only time that has happened is when I am quickly prototyping a mask, check it for fit, and forget to let it cure all the way then yeah my eyes water 😂
@@SKSProps ooooohhh, you put it on TOP of the contact cement, I always kept it separate for some reason and always questioned why i shouldn't bring the contact cement all the way to the edge and only have the super glue be in charge of the edges. I clearly misunderstood that. Thank you so much for the tips my Cosplay Brother. Looking forward to the next video.

Great video as always 🙌
Thank You!
It would be so amazing if you made a plasma pistol!
can we look forward to more WH40k props? i'd love to see a space marine helmet!
Maybe. Be sure to check out the other 40k props on my channel I did a Chainsword and an Ork Choppa
I am pleased.
😂HA! Thank You
Plan on making this and the Chainsword!!!! Is there a way you could make a list of the foam i would need to purchase to make them both along with the paints
Thanks! If you get a sheet of each size 2,4,6,10 that should be good. I go over each color I use before I apply them to the props
Love this build! Any tips for those without a band saw?
You can still do the cuts without a bandsaw just make sure your knife is really sharp. A sharp knife is key to clean cuts
Finaly the botler

@SKSProps Makes sense! Thank you!
At 14:10 do you dry brush the silver or do you mix it with a little water?
You don't want to add water to metallics they tend to displace the pigment to much. Rich silver covers pretty well if you wanted something that was a bit more translucent you can use Liquitex Bright Silver
Una sugerencia, si se me permite, las agujas de "Illidan Tempestira", personaje elfo de la noche del juego warcraft.
good crafting!

Awesome I'm glad I could help! and just so you know I do have CC subtitles in multiple languages
@@SKSProps Ostras y yo sin activarlos, muchas gracias y ahora a esperar el nuevo proyecto. ;-)
Suscrito y activada la campanita.
Hello, a question, what materials did you use to make the armor?
and you are very talented thanks for the tutorial
thanx
Thanks, It’s all made out of EVA HD-Foam
Next make light bolt pistol from warhammer !

Will you be at dragon con this year?
Yes bringing my gears of war build. I’ll post where and when once I’m there
What is the full size of it ?
19" long. you can print out the blueprint on my site
Its a heavy bolt pistol....... looks great tho
Nope, it is an Absolvor Bolt Pistol sidearm of the Primaris Chaplains www.games-workshop.com/en-CA/Space-Marines-Primaris-Chaplain-2020
Does anyone have a rough purchase list for how much of the HD foam roles by size to buy to complete one bolter (i.e. will one of each size do it)? Thanks.
One of each size is more than enough. You’ll have plenty left over for your next project
@@SKSProps Awesome/thanks. Time to start a new project.
Now do a storm bolter.
so good1!

wow can I frame this over my Draco AK

too small. and im thinking that it could make bum! by propane gas :D
Steve have you done the space marine armor?
No, there are groups online that already have patterns available I tend to make stuff you don’t see everyday
