While I think he is absolutely top notch and i enjoy his content and choices in general, personally I am not a fan of the over present double kick even when I see and appreciate how it fits into his style. For me, he is still wel behind Nate Smith in refinement and complexity, just to mention one. But Nate obviously has quite a few more years of experience.
His drumming is freakin amazing, I wish I could drum 1% as well as he does... but this would be horrible for the actual studio track. The original track is way, way, way better for the song. If this was track was the original it'd be a song about drums instead of deep yearning. But it's fun and he's extremely talented. Maybe I'm just jealous that I can't play like that though.
Glad you put your 2 cents in on his drumming style. People take stuff way too seriously . I regularly see people comment things like "he just ruined the song" and "he only plays fast, not impressed". Are you kidding me he is incredible to watch as a drummer and a showman. The way I describe his channel is its not a music channel, its a drumming channel. Forget the song, and just appreciate the limit pushing drums.
I'll never understand people who think you can overplay a solo drum cover. Its not a whole band cover and its not a live performance, the focus is on the drummer not the song. He could do a drum solo over the whole song and it wouldnt be overplaying because the point of the video is to show off drumming prowess not to play for the music.
Sure he does some stuff that’s over the top but when you look at some of the stuff he’s doing with the Michael Jackson covers, while the drum parts are absolutely insane, they are also insanely musical and completely, and perfectly fit the song. He also had one that was a Latin track and his drum part was a giant ball of fire. Anybody that says this guy just overplays must’ve only popped in here and there when they saw a song title they wanted to see. They are definitely not content followers.
I feel like he pulled way back on the chops and played more sympathetically to the source material than many of the other amazing covers he’s done. This is fantastic.
Anyone who thinks it is overplaying should listen in 75% or 50% speed to actually hear what he is playing. It is ridiculous how clean and accurate he is.
I doubt he’s amazing technically. Absolutely incredible but TO ME I think he does overplay most songs. He is bad ass but at times it loses the feel of the song. Although the folks he adds sometimes are really good.

I joined a band and well, I was still a newbie but learnt more and more about different patterns and styles.. even 5/4 beat.. I thought there was nobody better than me.. we’ll time flies and the. When I got to 18 - 19 I actually exercised drums for over 2 years 8 hours a day. Took me about 1 month to be able to play Bernie shuffle at high bpm. And also nailing both ghost notes and strokes.. BUT I learnt there was a god. Named Dave Weckl.. I saw him live and I thought I died because I couldn’t grip how he played.. and it sounded super awesome!! I thought I would give up drums.. didn’t… but then boys and girls.. there came he… the invisible yet visible. He’s both light and darkness.. fuck I stopped playing drums after seeing El Estepario.. I mean come on.. look at him.. He’s doesn’t struggle even!! Fuck.. I officially give up!! El estepario the scene is yours! Keep doing the great work!! Love it!!

I have to say, this is one of my favourite ways to consume El Estepario Siberiano’s content because not only do I get to appreciate the music and drums, but I also get a better understanding of the complexity! Cracking content!
i love when i'm expecting something from a song and some player is like "lol freestyle" and it blows my mind. Not only to remind me of song construction styles in the 80s but also the way that musical influence has impacted players like Siberiano. Those differences are so great! It's also funny to see how basic a descending fill sounds, but when Siberiano does it I can't help but chuckle because I rarely get such an anchor fill from such a creative player.
Tears for fears are a hugely underrated band - they didn't seem flashy and shredding - but they did music. They were so good they made extremely complex songs to play sound "simple" - the drum solo from "Head over heels" trips so many technical drummers up time and time again.
The sheer amount of concentration and ability to control both hands independently, flawlessly, consistently, and a seemingly effortless technique is nothing short of mind boggling 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
At 11:39 was how I used to play it but then I was listening though old tech and didn't have you tube to watch. It was years later I figure out it was a triplet. To this day, I don't know if the drum track was actually played or programmed. Siberiano has the fastest hands that I've ever seen. His motion is effortless. He's just incredible.
Some people might say it's overplaying, but groove and feel can make it like that. I feel like a lot of these new metal drummers are technically awesome but sometimes playing as many notes as possible as fast as you can is overplaying. The thing I love about jazz and some progressive and groove is is not always about what is played but what isn't that adds to the feel. This guy is super talented.
Sadly, this video is not his norm. He's normally spewing all over the place, in full "Hey, Internet! Look how freaking fast I am!!!" style. Which gets tiresome after a while. At least for me.
He does not play just drums. He plays a whole fragging orchestra. He plays the songs in a way the maker of the songs would have played them, had they had his genius and technique. He completes the songs, brings the closer to perfection.
I’m a guitar & dobro player (40+years now), & he’s so f--ing good that he’ll make the guitarist & singer look bad if their not bringing their A-GAME! AMAZING!
Excellent as usual. This guy is amazing. I’m not a drummer or even a musician, but I find myself seeking out his videos and reactions to them! 🤟🏻 And, I must say that having the occasional “That’s what she said!” thrown in just makes it for me lol 😂

I'm not a drummer, but I know a few.. I'm a bass player (and fellow kiwi). Estepario has done a few videos talking about how his goal is to show what can be done - he has thousands of hours of practicing all sorts of seemingly impossible things and wants to show people how, and inspire them to do stuff. I think he is a pretty good bloke as well as a mind blowing artist.

First of all Andrew "LEGENDARY " song, I'm not a drummer but I do recognize great drumming when I hear it I especially like your analysis of this alien drummer it let's me know just how insane his drumming actually is great stuff man.
I remember playing that track over and over again when in grade 9. I think I wore out that cd actually. Went through alot of depression, between this track and Queen- Show Must Go On were just a few of my favorites. But I have been into electronic music since gr 7, 1987. I quit raving in 2000 after the scene was destroyed. Enjoy all music with a beat, except Country. Well, Garth Brooks I liked, but that's it! 😂
Andrew: love your videos. Thank you and keep up the great work. This guy is from another planet! I also stumbled across another young and up and coming drummer, Gianluca Pellerito. Guy has an amazing combination groove, nuance, and speed. His Meinl Cymbals - Gianluca Pellerito - Red Eyes Space video is new and nicely showcases his talents, but really any video is great. He’s 22 and has outstanding videos from his teens too. Anyway, highly recommend doing a review if you haven’t yet!
I’ve commented this on another reaction post; I believe it bears repeating; EES has detached himself from the “talent” label emphatically and stresses practice to nearly the point of breathing. In my view however his base identity is often overlooked. His is a incredibly accomplished drummer but he is also an impassioned music lover. I dare say he loves music to the equal of drumming and what he seeks to do is make music with drums, more than just put on a chops exhibition. He can disclaim talent but not his passion. I consider him inspired. And that is contagious. I am grateful for the bewildering joy of seeing/hearing him play. He’s close to establishing his own era. And I think that’s marvelous.
I'm not a drummer, but the breakdown of what's going on is really cool. It's hard for a non-drummer to hear exactly what is going on in the song, without knowing that it's hard to tell if he's good or just overplaying. It's like watching Steve Vai or listening to dubstep, I have just enough time on guitar and in music to know what he's playing, but there are times when it feels like it goes a bit far and although it's all technically correct and beautiful in its own way I can tell that many wouldn't get it.

Imagine not having heard this song ever, and give this drumless track to 100 drummers to record. Then listen to those 100 recordings and tell me this guy is not impressive. Ohh, and another banger Andrew. 🎉
Glad you are reviewing this Alien Drum Player 😂 , He is a wonder of drumming , tight, right on every beat, amazing player, watching him for many years .
Kudos to user very good analyzation in Temple sitting for us new drummers. Thank you for the first part of the tempo setting. I learned a lot off of that I do not know how to read music but you're making it easy for me. And great up to par innovation and explaining what he's doing I appreciate you. And Bravo's to😊 Mr.El he is by far my favorite drummer in the world right now he's like an AI Akri MPC 2500. Maybe someday I can be good enough as you guys but for now I'm enjoying all these videos so thank you very much!
As to your comment on Estepario absolutely right! He should showcase his own character on his channel. Some people are just haters saying negative things about that.
I've always loved Tears for Fears and knew they had chops but until your analysis, I didn't realize how complex their songs were. EES took it to the next level for me.
Even with the overplaying can you close your eyes a moment and still sway your head to the beat? That´s the magic, damn!!! Complainers need to overpractice! this guy is something else. Thanks Andrew!! loved your analysis.
I'm not a drummer but he always says that he has no special talent, he just practice and practice to get to this point like 8 hours everyday. He doesn't believe in inner talent. He doesn't know how to read or write music. He just feels it.
@@miguelfg93 totally!! I also don’t believe in talent. It’s all hard work and commitment. And that’s why I study 2 hours daily at least. But man…he is so damn far ahead I sometimes feel like “not in this lifetime”, you know?
Watched both your covers after you pointed out you already covered it. Song is more difficult than I thought. I’m not a drummer but I like the simple complexity it seems to have
what l value about this guy is that he breaks through the oldschool way - practicing a million hours until you dream about it - in an age in which music is dictated by plugin/ AI/ autotune/ autogrid/autofuckingeverything
It is time to react to his latest cover, Blinding Lights by The Weeknd. It was released in 2019 so it is relatively new, but what he does with this song is just beautiful.
His 3 year old cover was impressive too, but pales in comparison with this new one! 0.75 playback speed is helpful when trying to comprehend what he's doing...🤯
Keith Moon was a drummer who would hardly play the song the same twice. He would always like to throw a new fill into each time it was played. Some like hearing new adds to a song giving it a freshness that can bring back the song to a new feel. Much like musicians that do remakes to a old cover. Sometimes making the song even more popular than the original.
I've a TFF live performance of the song from the early 1990s in which the drummer is playing all the notes on the hi-hat with both hands, playing the snare with his left. Which in my book gives you license to play the groove however you want. Still really satisfying to do it properly though.
My observation (since everybody else has observed everything else); El Estepario Siberiano never "overplays" the cymbals. They're hit when they need to be hit, left alone otherwise. I like that. Excessive cymbals annoys me, well not the "clock" on the ride cymbal, it can be abused.
For those students interested in understanding the correct terminology of the note values of this pattern - the original Hi Hat part is simply crotchet triplets (1/4 note triplets.) They can start either on the beat, or in this case, off the beat.
9:01 In the middle of a syncopated groove he needs to scratch his nose so just switches to left-handed for a few beats, and if you aren't watching you don't even hear the difference. This might be the smallest thing to focus on, but it's little things like this that you realize how second-nature this is to him.
Damn right I remember those books & yes, Tears for Fears “Everybody Wants To Rule The World”, is absolutely 1 of the best 80’s Pop ALL-TIME! Yes, I’m a Gen X’er too!
9:50 To the question, how much power does a drummer have? This is the answer! When he slows the beat down it feels like ALL other instruments slow down along with him! When they don't. This is how much power a drummer have on the whole thing! To me it is mind bending, to some extent. PS: if you like that guitar. you might want to listen to "Un autre monde" from Telephone. The last minute of the song is amazing. I am sure you would enjoy it. ^__-

👽🛸
That snare sounds amazing!
YUP
His fills are uncanny. Freakishly talented. Wonder how he gets his brain to slow down. I say f'n impossible
Jabalí de corazón y mente,nada puede pararte,un ehemplo para cualquiera.FELICIDADES 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Even with the overplaying can you close your eyes a moment and still sway your head to the beat? That´s the magic, damn!!! Complainers need to overpractice! this guy is something else. Thanks Andrew!! loved your analysis.
What can be said about this man that hasn't been already. Earned his title and he keeps proving he's the best drummer on the planet..
He is so right about the guitar parts. They are perfect!!
Incredible Tommy. Whole composition and performance
Man...this is mesmerizing. He's good to the point of making me feel demotivated.
So thank you, Andrew, for keeping our spirits elevated!
He can be over the top as much as he wants because in the end, it still sounds great
That's the trick.
Overplaying? Or under executing?
Vinnie has proved you can get away with murder if you're good enough

A beautiful song no matter who is in the pocket but the flavor and taste that this man adds to it is most amazing.
So bad ass! Mouth dropping so great to watch and listen. Sometimes so overwhelming and independancy of every part of arm or leg. Amazing!
The groove he plays at 9:50 was sooooo sick. Really made the song feel completely different.
I love when someone completely flips the whole feel like that
The point is that he can play anything he wants with ease..That is what makes him the best drummer out there right now
He definitely knows he’s beats and bars!!!
Sure does
Watched both your covers after you pointed out you already covered it. Song is more difficult than I thought. I’m not a drummer but I like the simple complexity it seems to have
A monster .,.... period His facility and musicality second to none
what l value about this guy is that he breaks through the oldschool way - practicing a million hours until you dream about it - in an age in which music is dictated by plugin/ AI/ autotune/ autogrid/autofuckingeverything
Not too long ago I suggested he do this song on the hand pan, but I'll take this.
Yes Randal!
I just watched him play that SLIPKNOT song with one hand....the guy isn't human.
Crazy Dean
Keith Moon was a drummer who would hardly play the song the same twice. He would always like to throw a new fill into each time it was played. Some like hearing new adds to a song giving it a freshness that can bring back the song to a new feel. Much like musicians that do remakes to a old cover. Sometimes making the song even more popular than the original.
Guilty non drummer 🙋🏻♂️ I find your videos fascinating. Keep pumping them out buddy.
Thanks, will do!
The octopus man with only 2 arms. He is from another planet .
I've a TFF live performance of the song from the early 1990s in which the drummer is playing all the notes on the hi-hat with both hands, playing the snare with his left. Which in my book gives you license to play the groove however you want. Still really satisfying to do it properly though.
What a monster!! Awesome is just the beginning...
My observation (since everybody else has observed everything else); El Estepario Siberiano never "overplays" the cymbals. They're hit when they need to be hit, left alone otherwise. I like that. Excessive cymbals annoys me, well not the "clock" on the ride cymbal, it can be abused.
Well said 💯👌
He is amazing!
For those students interested in understanding the correct terminology of the note values of this pattern - the original Hi Hat part is simply crotchet triplets (1/4 note triplets.) They can start either on the beat, or in this case, off the beat.
💯👌
9:01 In the middle of a syncopated groove he needs to scratch his nose so just switches to left-handed for a few beats, and if you aren't watching you don't even hear the difference. This might be the smallest thing to focus on, but it's little things like this that you realize how second-nature this is to him.
Yup his sticks are an extension of his brain at this point
I subscribed!! I love your vids reacting to the vids I also love. Middle aged guy here learning the drums.
Thanks for watching!
He also mentions to remember that we control time, which is why he modulated so much
I agree. He made it beautifully...
Love your reactions to El Estepario. And I am not even a drummer!
THANKS
Thanks for the analysis. I'm not a drummer but I appreciate the insight.
I watch USCSB videos for fun.
I'm all here for the analysis :>
I’m surprised he didn’t do it with just one hand.
Also one of my favorite songs from my youth.
Such a banger Brian!
after looking at the groove breakdown I'm glad I chose guitar
