    You where on the right track with the mout filler! Its extremely popular in the Honda community to use "window weld" Which is just the urethane used to hold windshields onto your car. Very popular for the older models that you cant buy upraded mounts for. I did it to the mounts on my 88 prelude and it was perfect. Held to turbo power and wasnt a vibrating mess.

      Make sure you buy the special caulking gun for it. You need a 20-1 ratio to get the stuff to come out of the tube. Standard caulk guns are like 3-1 ratio or 5-1 maybe.

    • @kylescaggs

      I believe it is either smoothing or alimalite that sells a 2 part urethane epoxy that people use for this and it comes in different hardnesses for how stiff or soft you want it to be. Tons of bids here on UA-cam of people doing it

    Just so you know, that fourth engine mount (the one you filled with polyurethane) is not essential and I deleted it on my car completely and did not notice anything else, it's really that rear lower mount that puts in all the work. Also if you ever need to drop the trans again, you don't need to remove the rear mount, so you don't need to touch the subframe at all.

    • @Awainer1
      @Awainer1 9 місяців тому +1

      Hmm i upgraded my motor mounts but left that fourth mount in. You think it drives better without it?

    • @Heffelz8
      @Heffelz8 9 місяців тому +6

      @@Awainer1 I would think that Honda engineers know what they're doing when they add in that 4th mount. Although there may be subjective input saying that it feels better without the mount, Honda is known for their reliability and durability. I wouldn't assume that any person knows better/more about the chassis dynamics than Honda does. I would certainly leave it unless there is another modification that is taking up that space.

    • @quantumlab9130
      @quantumlab9130 9 місяців тому

    • @salami99
      @salami99 9 місяців тому +3

      usually a 4th mount is for secondary vibration form a transverse mounted engine. it would support the 3rd mount which is essential

    • @quantumlab9130
      @quantumlab9130 9 місяців тому

      You'd be correct with that in the factory situation. But I've already gone with a lightweight flywheel, and full poly mounts so there's no vibration that that mount will actually help against now

    My dad had a ‘68 Firebird which was basically a pseudo-trans am racer for the road with a 400 and a Doug Nash 5 speed. He had a friend of a friend who was on the factory race team in the 60s who gave him all the hot tips. He said the factory cars did use mostly bronze bushings, which worked great, if you had a professional machinist measure everything to ten thousandths accuracy. A lot of wannabe racers did that without the attention to detail, and suddenly their car had solid motor mounts and seized suspension.

I did it on my aw11s back in the day and on the front mount on my neon ACR (rear was a strut tube type thing... I made that more solid by covering the strut with rubber hose... a little more vibration but very mild and it mad the shifting and clutch feel MUCH more consistent as engine wasn't torquing back and forth.

    That factory mount at 17:46 is designed to constrain the engine+transmission in only one dimension. So while it can flex all over the place, the other engine mounts keep it from doing this. Under acceleration, this mount gets loaded up against the chunk of rubber that's in there.

    I did the exact same thing when I bought a 1997 Civic coupe for $1000 from a 19 year old kid. It had a JDM D15B block that the previous owner had stolen the head off of and put a D16Y7 head in it's place. The 19 year old didn't know the difference, so he bought it and rebuilt it all. He also purchased a JDM Del Sol Si trans and installed it all with a brand new clutch and flywheel (eBay), and couldn't figure out why it ran like crap and didn't have VTEC. I bought it, put a D16Z6 head on it, and it ran PERFECTLY. I ran it for about a month NA and I started piecing together an eBay turbo kit for it with a P28 ECU that I socketed and chipped. That car wasn't particularly fast, but it was SO much fun on 8-10 psi with an eBay 50 trim turbo with an eBay 3" exhaust. I had a basemap from Chris Harris at Xenocron and with the DSM 440cc injectors it pulled really hard to 9000 RPM and held power all the way to redline. I found out later it had an Exedy flywheel and OEM clutch replacement and it held no matter how much power I threw at it. I took it to a local drag strip and I was smacking modified WRXs and Mazdaspeed 3s. My buddy was there with his identical FBO 2000 Civic Si and I DESTROYED his car every time. He didn't even want to race me, but of course we did. Hondas are SO easy to boost and they're so rewarding when you do, as long as you do your proper research and parts ordering ahead of time.

    Had a boosted GD3 for IDK 13 years as my daily.... Clutch Masters is the only way to go with these. That front motor mount is useless but i filled it like you did anyway, the rear trans mount does all thw work (cheetah's auto sells separate) whatever you do don't buy innovative mounts 😑 gotta live with the stiffness if you want to double the power and actually put it down IMO🤷‍♂️. Get RDX 410cc injectors, they are plenty for this. If you run into issues reach out to unequal fabrication as he offers turbo kits for these and custom parts. Your power goal is right in line with the stock rods maximum... With a Rotrex the motor can take more because of it's linear boost. Happy to watch your build 😊

      Oh and setting idle RPM to a frequency that cancels vibration goes a long way 😂. When I sold it that was the guys first comment that they were unbearable 😅 I didn't even notice them. They transform the way the car handles and puts power down... Honestly I'd put them in a bone stock FIT, they improve every input from shifting to steering to leaving from a stop. I did the polyurethane fill to all of them first, they lasted about a year to a year and a half before they all failed. 😳

    I've done window weld on my old honda accord. I got it in black from home depot so you don't have to paint it.

    Not trying to hate. I like the Fit for what it is. A very pedestrian vehicle that's got its benefits. That being said, this video makes me feel WAY better about what I'd like to do to my CR-Z.

    The polyurethane trick is actually how to “refurbish” some bushings on old Hondas you can’t get anymore. Quite a few people have done that, so you’re most likely all good

    You could always swap in the L15 turbo engine from the 10th/11th gen Civic Si's or even the regular Civic 1.5T's. It's basically the motor that fit uses with a turbo strapped on. I'm sure you could find a cheap one given how common Civics are.

      The problem with GD Fits is that engine bay space is at a premium. You Americans get a little more of it, because your Fit front clips are extended vs. the rest of the world, but I'd imagine the stock plumbing for the turbo may not be a clean fit (uh, pun unintentional?) into the GD Fit's engine bay. One may need to reroute things and/or fabricate new pipes to smoosh it all in.

    Clutch disk was probably in backwards. I had an ebay clutch come labeled incorrectly and that was the exact effect. Flipped the disk around and it holds all the power

    i would post the link for the bushing maker but UA-cam will delete it. But look up 80A High performance bushing maker for your mounts. I've used it on my Taurus sho for years.

    I'm about to turbo my fit as well. How important is it to upgrade the clutch first? Can I get away with stock for a while?

    Loving this series, you've convinced me to turbo my gd as well. Question about your change in shifter, did you notice a difference in the wk motorsports compared to the hybrid racing quick shifter? TIA

    Make sure you don't get too excessive with your engine braking. The springs will rattle and blow out the sides of the the clutch plate. There's certain versions of my clutch masters that were upgraded so they're encased springs. It cost me 600$ to find that out -.-

    I'm so glad you didn't swap it with a k series. The L series that comes in the fits are great motors and they should stay true to that
