Man if you made that kit available on your website you’d sell them like hotcakes 😂
ayo IUM Industries turbo kits 👀?, write that down, Caleb!
i was just thinking, the hot and cold sides look mint and you could pretty much use any intercooler with similiar dimensions. do a full kit gingium!
I mean maybe he doesn’t want to make them all himself so could do build to order but also could just work with another company and give them dimensions and materials then ship to customers from manufacturer
id buy one if he did pre fab piping. i just dont have welder i can use so i haven't pulled the trigger
on a project like this
Brother id go buy a fit specially for the kit
Our guy Gingium out there just dropping a diy turbo install before ChrisFix
Oh heck yeah. I'm all about making things happen as fast as possible 🤞
Chris fix fell off fr. Bro posting anything but car content nowadays
The amount of unintended puns in this video is considerable xD
Honestly, this has been the most straight-forward turbo installation so far in this channel, speaks volumes about the Honda Fit's ease of tuning
I almost thought I was doing something wrong with how easily it went together!
Neat job! well done
Boing boing boing boing where is the gemini !!!
Thank you so much! You guys (especially the turbo Kei truck) were a huge inspiration for this build.
collab soon?
That was a quick 20 minutes! Insane how simple and elegant you make this process look, the fabricator progression is through the roof! Can’t wait to hear this little nugget make turbo noises
The fabricating process really is quite simple and elegant, hence why I love it!
Fun fact: if Gingium doesn't want to put out a turbo kit for the Fit, Unequal Fabrications has a turbo kit for both the first and second gen Fit's that you can just buy. Have fun lads!
What he said☝
I just saw that video today and their kit is only $1700. Problem is that they're horribly backordered right now.
Looks super rad Caleb! Video felt like it was an awesome balance between details/tips, yet fast paced enough to keep all interested!
Awesome, thank you!
🚥As I said in the first Fit video gotta love a NON off the shelf build …great fab work salute to you brother 😎☝️
Thank you thank you!
My grandma had a 2007 light blue fit, back in the day. Wish it was still around
Sorry for your loss.
Love the light blue
Every project you do, you can see the improvement in your skills. Your tools, shops, and skills keep growing. I'm almost proud of a stranger for his hard work---- !
Putting RTV on both sides of a gasket adds 2 more sealing surfaces you'd have with only using one of the two.
Metal surface - RTV - gasket - RTV - Metal surface
Or
Metal surface - RTV/Gasket - metal surface
Would still most likely work for this 'low hp' application
Thumbnails is the new shop going unequivocally hard 😤
Exxxxxxxaaaaactly!
@@_Gingium_ I almost missed the video because the thumbnail looked too much like the high end boring videos haha.
Man, this just makes me wish Honda offered SOME sort of factory hot hatch version of the fit. I very much enjoy my GK5 but it would be a fantastic little hot hatch if it had somewhere around 200hp instead of the 120-130 they came with
I 100% agree. A Honda Fit Si with a turbo engine, 6 speed manual, and LSD from the factory would go HARD!
Love that wastegate mount!
ive always enjoyed when you just make your own parts.
So happy to see your hard work paying off with your views this past month! You’ve been slept on for too long
Thank you ❤
Hey, about what you said on the 1st vs 2nd gen fit. I owned a 2009 (Second gen) Fit and I can say with 100% confidence, they had a single port as the exhaust manifold, similar to almost all Honda's past 2008... The R18, K20, K24, L15 series, even the J series all switched over to the single exhaust style sometime in the later 2000s.
Interesting. Either the eBay listing had an incorrect title or I confused the generation names lol
@@_Gingium_ I wouldn't be surprised if ebay just had a cat walk across the keyboard to name half of their stuff unfortunately. Either way, good to see this is progressing along :)
this is correct the GE has the L15A7 with the single exhaust port vs the L15A1 in the GD.. fun fact the L15A7 has the old school VTEC despite having an "i-VTEC" label
@@_Gingium_GD3 is first gen, GE8 is second (easy way to remember is that 3 comes before 8). Those two gens have very different engines that are not interchangeable in pretty much any regard.
Its because the 08 in the rest of the world was the 2nd gen version. In america it stayed gen 1 till 09. We didn't get the face-lift and new parts till 09
so many things ✨FIT✨ in this cars engine bay, it's awesome
You made that look easy af
Your acquisition of a Fit was what steered me down that path too! I bought a GD3, learned to drive stick shift, and am loving it so far. Glad you're doing so much cool stuff with this car! It's providing a checklist of aspirations to get to down the road.
This felt so easy to watch, you made that process seem way too easy. Just a really nice made video, like some other people said: pace was nice, good tips and also really easy to watch. Keep up the good work!
This was satisfying to watch! Your fabrication skills have gotten so good you make it look easy Caleb!
The way you put that cold side pipes together made it look so darn easy
Sounds tough! Maybe paint that piping black
Thanks for the video - great content, delightful to watch! What a blessing to be able to do such custom metal work - basically nothing is impossible!
I never realized there was so much room for activities in there!
These videos are the best. Doing the work yourself and fabricating everything yourself is very respectable nowadays. most people just pay other ppl to do their work for them
Let’s go bud. Longtime fan. Love the content. Keep rocking and rolling 🤘🤘
Excellent work. Those intercooler pipes look great. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Such a joy to watch Caleb, keep at it chief 🙏
Such a clean and problem-free build. Your fabium skills are incredible!
The water drop on the lens @7:15 had me chuckling
Yeah that was unfortunate lol
I have a special place in my heart for the Honda fit... When I first came to Canada I needed a mile muncher as the Boxster I'd bought wasn't really great for winter driving ... so I reluctantly bought the cheapest lease I could find which was a Honda fit at the time... Family car ride literally bought over the phone without even visiting a dealership or even seeing one in the flesh before I took delivery... Put 200,000km on that little puppy and it never missed a beat. I thrashed it to within an inch of its life daily for three years and rarely even did oil changes on time. That little car earned my respect and my god I've never had such a tiny car you could get so much junk in the back of because of the seat configuration... genius little car... At the time there wasn't many upgrades available because it was a brand new model but I bet they are riced-up to the max these days
You gotta be careful when welding on a car with amplifiers wired in. Make sure to disconnect the grounds from your amps when welding in the rare case the arc of electricity flows through your stuff.
Looks soo badass im ready for it
First time watcher. Brilliant video. I will definitely be watching more as you have given me some ideas about a build I’m doing. 👍
I watched the Fit series, and this exact video made me want to follow you. Such a clean build, well explained process, and just a fun video to watch. Definitely want to see how the exhaust sounds, and how it's going to run after a full tune.
Awesome video! Practically the same setup I have on my 2010 Corolla!
Nice video brother, lighting was amazing I subbed after seeing this
Gingium is one of the best to do it! I love watching this guy work. I came for the WRX but stayed for everything else. 😁
The progress you’ve made the last couple of years is just amazing! The skills you’ve picked up and the attitude is the best! Your channel, Matt Armstrong and Tavarish is the best ones on UA-cam for sure! No screaming, no excessive rants on $50k exhausts etc. you build it! All three, down on earth YTers 🫶🏻
(Oh and a question for you: when TIGing a pipe, I’ve seen some people fill the inside with gas as well? Is it really necessary?)
I admire such creativity, Go Honda Fit!!
Bought a fit and have been looking to turbo it. Out of the blue, this series comes out. Fantastic!
you're the man gingium, easily the best real auto channel on here. love watching your work man :)
Long time viewer here- I watched subscribed around when you were building the school bus and anthracite gray RX-7. Your fabrication skills have come so far!! I also love the Honda Fit and if I had one a shop and more funds that's exactly what I'd be doing. Keep it up man as long as you have the motivation!
"Its the coolest part of the car". Gingium hitting us with the dad jokes 😅
So freaking awesome! Love this build.
Im so grateful to stumble upon this channel, really great car content. Can't wait for the future upcoming videos ❤💯
Love this build. I'm considering this research for boosting my Yaris 😁👌
Did you notice the mark on the camera? That smudge?
Your videos are always such an inspiration to keep my own projects going! I wish i could do like you do with youtube and all, but cant seem to think about breaking out the camera!
Also just another thing I noticed is that you may have confused the actual PCV valve and the breather vent on the valve cover. Putting a catch between the breather and air intake won't do much as it's usually not spewing oil. You would want to actually put it in on the PCV line, it should be further down on the block of the engine and goes somewhere on the actual intake plenum/manifold.
Mhhhhh, sounds like I should just ditch the factory PCV setup and weld some ports on the valve cover and get a vented catch can. Makes so much more sense to me than this factory PCV nonsense
They are two different systems. I have never built a turbo motor but your breather catch can is good. I'd just put a new PCV valve on so it's working properly and leave it alone. Maybe see if any Honda experts know an upgraded PCV valve which is better for turbo motors? Like how Miata B6/BP can upgrade to the factory SE/SP turbo PCV valve.
Yeah that’s what I thought, but I honestly was a bit confused lol
Actually, sorry I am wrong and this guy is right. The PCV valve should stop boost getting into the crankcase. The breather is at atmosphere (before the throttle body) to let air into the engine. Put the catch can between the PCV and the intake manifold. I also get confused, it's annoying to remember which way the valve flows and when.
@@JamieBainbridge Yep, I've tinkered around with so many Hondas at this point, their PCV valve configuration haunts me with their stupid hose clamps and annoying wiring looms biting my fingers. Another optional configuration he can do is in addition to hooking up the catch can to the PCV system, you can just put a cone style breath on the valve cover instead of that hose, that is usually just for drawing in air and occasionally lets some vapors out, hence why it hooks up to the air intake before the throttle body. If you're going boosted and getting a tune, it's usually what most of the guys do, but you'd have to block off the little plumbing you put in the intake tube. Personally, I would put a larger tube going between the valve cover and the intake tube. If you look at the L15B7 (turbo) you will notice that that hose is substantially bigger than most NA Hondas.
broooo this was literally my dream 10 years ago, when I was 18 my first car was my mother's Honda Fit 2002 LOL simply an amazing car.
Bro, love watching your videos because you are so clean with what you do! 🙌
I had a 2008 Fit Sport and absolutely loved it, some of the most fun I’ve had in a car - and that’s coming from someone with several 500hp+ cars now lol
For anyone like myself that wants to turbocharge their Fit but doesn't have the skills to fabricate a custom system, Unequal Fabrication makes a complete bolt on turbo Kit for the GD3 that keeps AC and PS
thanks, looking at a Fit once I'm done with my EP3
Thanks for the shout out 👌
@@unequal_fabricationofc, once I'm done playing with my Nissans I'll pull the trigger on a Turbo Kit for my Fit. Rode in one with your kit and it was a Riot!
@AeroWolfpunk with a little bit of boost they turn into a rocket haha such a good time
This is an insanely clean install, as usual. Nice work.
So you're saying i should turbo my Scion iM daily and race them against each other?
Yes
@@_Gingium_ it's a cvt though, guaranteed kaboom
Bro your a freaking artist!
Awesome work as always!
So satisfying to watch.
Why does this make me want to sell my bmw 335d and buy a honda fit and turbo it. what a sweet daily driver. Thanks for the video Caleb!
Damn nice dream garage. Impressive work on the Turbo.
Ur a highly skilled individual:)
The intercooler piping is definitely the best part of a turbo build.
the BOV setup is super dope
this is gonna be a sick build man.🙌🏽💯
12:05 GYATTT
😂😂😂
one other person wrote this and i'm gonna add to it. you should make your dollars and sell that as a turbo kit. i would surely buy it.
Really nice craftsmanship
dude i love your videos, as a fit owner im cheesing at this build
Man its pretty wild seeing you progress from the Forza days, i used to watch all your Forza vids and remember when you got the Miata. Your fabrication skills are so impressive. Good work man, i appreciate your content.
Love this build. So much.
Very good job my man and very clean keep going like that ❤️ 💯
Wow awesome job man 🙏🏼
WOW man that turned out great 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Always making things look so easy, great work!
Great build. Love watching these vids 👍
that looks oem asf boiiii! Great job brother
take a bong hit every time gingium says the word fit 👁👁
One piece piping on both sides was crazy 😮😮
I have seen this video like 200 times already can’t wait to do mines
Love the build
i have to say.. ive been watching ever since you started the build on Molly in your parents driveway lol and man oh man have you come a long way with your builds and your comfort with doing such builds. you seem to take on anything now and you've developed great knowledge in e=what you do and do everything with ease.
That hot side pipe looks beautiful
Hey Caleb,
you did an awesome job with this one like always.
One tip I can give you with the oil drain fittings: Weld them in a 45° angle up to the pan, that way you have better flow and no need for that 90° fitting. Some engines are even tilted and you absolutely need to do that.
The circle tracking shots while you welded were pretty cool 😁
No blow off valve? That will keep pressure going back to turbo and not mess it up. Also sounds cool. Put a blow off valve on dude. They cheep
It's a Fit, she fine
Well it's a good thing turbo flutter doesn't mess up the turbo.
Hell yea bruther! Can't wait to see the first pull 😎
I never really watched yt that much until I found your channel
Love it, the turbo fit in the fit nicely. Happy to see the progress on the car and the shop. Also it would fit in the paint area too for some photoshoot 😂
This is some insane fabrication damn
Appreciate the superb music you always have in your vids Caleb, makes watching them even more of a pleasure. Truly a cut above practically ALL other YTers.
You don’t mean the dreadful hip hop beats spliced with an Alvin & the Chipmunks voice going OOH YEAH, do you? Cuz that’s honestly my one criticism.
@@ImInLoveWithBulla I like the bass.
so cool dude, awesome video
I love the cinematic shots under those hexagons lights
I literally Watched the previous Video just now and Then i lock at your Channel and u Released the second video 1 minute ago LOL
Ayeeee that’s some good timing!
sick video, perfect amazing thnks gingium my goat
Lowkey been waiting for the turbo fit video since you got the fit
Awesome video man
Off course it fits Caleb, the Honda was made for it.
damn when that turbo started spooling i couldn't help but start clapping hell yeah dude!!!
